One Forgotten 9-1-1 Character Is Eddie's Perfect 118 Replacement
Image
9-1-1 season 8 mid-season finale teased a potential exit for Eddie, but the 118 can easily replace him with a forgotten player. Characters have exited 9-1-1 in the past, but none have been as crucial to the main plot as Ryan Guzman’s Eddie Diaz, assuming he ends up leaving. Eddie joined the 118 in the season 2 premiere (“Under Pressure”) and has been a key part of the team ever since. His relationship with his son grew strained following the 9-1-1 season 7 finale, however, and Eddie chose to consider relocation in the midseason finale.

When 9-1-1 season 8 returns, Eddie potentially leaving the show will be explored. Either he goes to Texas to reconnect with Christopher (Gavin McHugh), or he continues living so far from his son. Eddie has already decided the latter is no longer an option, which makes his departure from the series feel all the more probable.

9-1-1 Season 8's Nuisance Character Is To Blame For Eddie's Shock Exit
Image
Eddie scared Buck (and the audience) during the 9-1-1 season 8 fall finale when he started looking at homes for sale in Texas, and one recurring character is to blame for his plan to move. Ryan Guzman's character has been trying to find ways to connect with his son, Christopher (who now lives in Texas with his grandparents), all season long. However, the distance has taken its toll on Eddie. As a result, Eddie might exit 9-1-1 during season 8, devastating Buck and every viewer who loves him.

9-1-1 season 8 will return with episode 9 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 8 pm Et on ABC.

Buck's reaction to Eddie's potential 9-1-1 departure will undoubtedly be heartbreaking, especially if he goes through with the move. Nevertheless, Eddie's desire to leave Los Angeles is understandable. He wants to be near Christopher to continue repairing their relationship and ensuring that they don't drift too far apart.

Zoe Saldaña's Divisive Action Thriller 'Colombiana' Lands on Netflix in January
Image
Avatar and MCU star Zoe Saldana takes the lead in a divisive action thriller from 2011, which is due to land on Netflix in the new year. So, it has quite the action movie pedigree, if not the critical response to back it up.

Co-written and produced by Luc Besson and directed by Olivier Megaton, the action outing is titled Colombiana and stars Zoe Saldaña alongside the likes of Michael Vartan, Cliff Curtis, Lennie James, Callum Blue, and Jordi Mollà. Colombiana is all set to hit Netflix in the new year on January 1, and could make the perfect post-New Year’s Eve viewing. You can check out the official synopsis below.

10 Amazing DC Characters Smallville Completely Wasted
Image
Airing from 2001-2010, the young adult superhero drama Smallville approached the classic Superman tale from a whole new angle. The coming-of-age story focuses on the teenage years of Clark Kent (Tom Welling), concerning itself more with Clark than his larger-than-life alter ego. It's a refreshing and innovative take that requires tweaking many of DC's classic characters to make them fit the show's tone.

Smallville's reimaginings yield some of the most interesting adaptations of the characters in the Superman mythos; unfortunately, sometimes they miss the mark altogether. Not every hero or villain can be successfully scaled to fit the show's purposes, and as a result, the show is filled with wasted potential. Sometimes, this is because Smallville misses the heart of what makes these characters work, and some characters are doomed from the start.

Michael Shannon Offers Advice To The Next General Zod Actor Who'll Replace Him In James Gunn's Dcu
Image
Actor Michael Shannon brought a menacing gravitas to the Kryptonian General Dru-Zod in 2013's Man of Steel, cementing himself as one of the more memorable villains in the DC Extended Universe. Now, years later, Shannon, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and most of the other Dceu stars are being replaced with new iterations. This is the result of James Gunn and Peter Safran taking the reins at DC Studios and establishing a new DC Universe, which kicks off next year with Gunn's Superman. Though he is not slated to appear in that film, Zod's recasting is inevitable as one of the most iconic Superman antagonists.

For his part, Shannon isn't particularly upset. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, the star unpacked his mindset behind making Man of Steel as well as any advice he may have for the next General Zod. Of his approach to playing the villain,...

Smallville Review: No Superman, No Problem - Tom Welling Nails The Role Of Clark Kent In One Of TV's Best Superhero Stories
Image
Smallville remains one of the best superhero origin stories of all time, despite never getting past the actual origin story elements. Early in the rise of the superhero genre, Warner Bros. Television took the most famous and powerful superhero of all time back to basics. And thanks to an incredible cast, creative writers, and compelling stories told through the lens of a young adult coming-of-age story, it was a huge hit, paving the way for what would ultimately become The CW's Arrowverse.

Smallville is a Superhero television series based on the Superman Comic Book series created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. This television release was developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The premise revolves around a young Clark Kent as he arrives on Earth and attempts to live his life while simultaneously keeping his friends, family, and those around him safe thanks to his superpowers.

911 actor pens emotional goodbye message to fans, confirming his exit from the show
Image
It seems one actor’s time on 911 has indeed come to an end. Following the season 8 fall finale, actor Callum Blue has confirmed his run on ABC’s hit series has come to an end.

Blue joined the cast in the season 8 premiere in the role of Brad Torrance, an actor on a hit firefighter show called Hotshots. Brad takes a liking to Bobby during his time as a consultant on the show and he even managed to sway the Lafd into letting him shadow the 118 team while his character was in a coma on the show. In the fall finale, Brad got the chance to see what it truly means to be a hero when he helped talk a man down from the ledge during a call with the 118.

After getting to see what it really takes to be a firefighter, Brad left the 118 behind and returned to his...

Is Ryan Guzman's Eddie Diaz Really Leaving 9-1-1 Season 8?
Image
Warning: this article contains spoilers for 9-1-1 season 8, episode 8.The midseason finale of 9-1-1 suggests Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) is moving to Texas. The bombshell drops towards the end of the episode when Buck (Oliver Stark) walks in on Eddie shopping - house shopping. With the show now on hiatus until March, the future looks uncertain for Firefighter Diaz, but it's hard to say if the show would be willing to part ways with one of its biggest characters.

Eddie's season 8 journey has been tumultuous since the 9-1-1 season 7 finale marked the exit of his son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh). Eddie was lost, emotional, and suddenly mustached when the eighth season premiered in September. Throughout the first half of the season, background characters help him come to terms with himself and his situation, leading him to shave his mustache, recreate the Risky Business dance in 9-1-1, and...

9-1-1 Showrunner Addresses Whether Characters Like Brad & Tommy Could Return: "They're Characters In Our Universe"
Image
Warning: Spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 season 8, episode 8!9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear has addressed whether characters like Brad or Tommy could return in future episodes of the procedural series. 9-1-1 season 8 has seen the seemingly permanent exit of some important side characters as the story has developed. This includes Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), who broke up with Buck (Oliver Stark) after learning he was still figuring out his sexuality, and Brad (Callum Blue), the lead actor of the in-universe show Hotshots. Their recent appearances in the last two episodes make it unclear if they'll ever return.

However, speaking with Screen Rant, Minear confirmed that, while 9-1-1 season 8, episode 8 was meant to end Brad's storyline, it doesn't mean he won't show up again in the future. Briefly mentioning Tommy as well, the showrunner explains how their presence as "characters in [their] universe" means it will always be possible for them to return for more stories.

911 season 8 fall finale recap and review: "Wannabes"
Image
It’s definitely not easy for the 118 in 911 season 8, episode 8. What went down in the fall finale?

Caution: This post contains Spoilers from 911 season 8, episode 8

The fall finale promised to be an exciting one with Callum Blue’s Brad shadowing Bobby. We knew he was going to cause some problems, but I don’t think we quite expected the problem that he would bring.

I’ve got to say that the series certainly brought us an ironic moment at the start of the episode. Brad showed the 118 a recent episode of “Hotshots,” and the 118 had some opinions to share. One of those was how unrealistic the chatting was in the scene, which we all know 911 is guilty of doing. This is not a realistic show, but it’s good to see everyone is being good sports about it.

9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 8 Review: A Main Character Teases Their Exit In An Emergency-Heavy Fall Finale
Image
This article contains spoilers for 9-1-1 season 8, episode 8, "Wannabes"

The fall finale of 9-1-1 season 8 feels like an episode that could have aired during the show's Fox era. If there is one observation about the show's move to ABC, it's that there has been more focus on the lives of the main characters over the outlandish emergencies that earned the franchise its reputation. The emergencies in the fall finale, titled "Wannabes", aren't too wild. But there are quite a few of them, which doesn't leave room for any major developments. At least until a surprising scene in the closing minutes.

Things get messy for the 118 following a massive pile explosion. Meanwhile, Athena investigates a brutal beating of a man found behind a grocery store, and Bobby's working relationship with Brad from 'Hotshots' just got a little more intimate.

‘9-1-1’ Creator Says Eddie Is ‘Serious as a Heart Attack’ About Moving After Episode 8
Image
Note: The following story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 8.

“9-1-1” might be saying goodbye to Eddie Diaz in the near future, with series co-creator Tim Minear saying that the firefighter is “serious as a heart attack” about leaving L.A. after Thursday’s fall finale.

Episode 8, titled “Wannabes,” followed as Eddie (Ryan Guzman) continued to struggle with being separated from his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh), who left Los Angeles at the end of Season 7 to live with his grandparents in El Paso. After a begrudgingly quick FaceTime call made him realize his son is drifting further away from him, Eddie started to reevaluate his priorities — and near the end of the episode, he told Buck (Oliver Stark) he was looking at houses to buy there and potentially leave the 118.

But should fans really be worried about Eddie’s future on the show?

‘9-1-1’ Season 8 Episode 8 Preview: Photos, “Wannabes” Promo and Cast

Don’t expect a heart-pounding cliffhanger with ABC’s 9-1-1 season episode eight, the fall finale. In an interview with TVFanatic, showrunner Tim Minear teased, “What I would say is that episode eight this year is more kind of tying up some story threads that have been set up in the first eight episodes. Nobody’s hanging off a cliff at the end of the episode except for possibly one character.”

Episode eight, “Wannabes,” will air on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 8pm Et/Pt.

Callum Blue shares what kind of trouble Brad will create on 911!
Image
It looks like Callum Blue is staying on 911 a bit longer and likely causing a lot of fuss!

Caution: This article contains Spoilers for 911 Season 8

When 911 Season 8 began, Bobby was retired from the 118 and replaced by the tyrannical Gerrard (Brian Thompson). Bobby had gotten a job as a consultant for an emergency TV show called Hotshots that allowed 911 to poke a little fun at itself. A bit was Bobby trying to keep the show realistic, ignoring all the crazy antics he'd gotten into on the job.

Bobby bonded with the lead actor, Brad (Callum Blue), a slightly arrogant British actor who liked Bobby. Brad even helped the team when they aided Athena in landing a damaged airplane. Brad offered Bobby a full-time job on the show. Instead, Bobby arranged for Gerrard to take on the consultant role while he returned to the 118.

A Minor Grey's Anatomy Star Gave Smallville Its Best Villain 4 Years Later
Image
To most fans of Smallville, Lex Luthor was the show's most iconic villain. Actor Michael Rosenbaum gave such a standout performance that he is still considered by many to be the quintessential star to play the famed Superman villain. When Rosenbaum left the show, the writers needed to find another villain-shaped void to replace the gaping hole left by Lex's absence in the show. Doomsday/Davis Bloom (Sam Witwer) came onto the scene as the main antagonist in Season 8. By the end of the same season, Zod (Callum Blue) would be introduced as the next formidable force for Clark Kent (Tom Welling) to face. However, this version of Zod would be completely original to the show and different from what had been previously depicted on the CW series.

Blue entered Smallville Season 9 as a new and dynamic version of Zod who would plague the town of Smallville for the final two seasons of the show.

8 Times Superman Has Died Onscreen (& How Long It Lasted)
Image
Superman is one of the most popular characters in the entire DC Universe, and the popular comic book "The Death of Superman" has served as inspiration for several projects throughout the years. In animation, live-action, and even video games, the story of Superman's death has been a popular point of adaptation, featuring Doomsday or even bigger villains. While some series have adapted details loosely, including in the Justice League cartoon, where Superman did not actually die but was sent to the future, others have been much more faithful to the source material.

Superman's darkest story has been made even heavier with the recent episodes of Superman and Lois. Following a clash with Doomsday, the show has focussed on the trauma of how this has affected others, and this follows a long line of adaptations that have done the same. Seeing this iconic storyline being adapted for a new series has...

Tom Welling's Older Superman Is Reborn In Smallville Season 11 Concept Trailer
Image
A Smallville season 11 concept trailer sets up the ideal return for Tom Welling's Superman in a DC sequel. One of the key actors to have played Superman in live-action is Tom Welling, who he starred as Clark Kent for a decade on Smallville. Thanks to Smallville's tremendous success, it paved the way for more comic book and superhero TV properties, including the Arrowverse on The CW.

While Smallville ended over a decade ago, many are hoping to see the beloved Superman drama come back at some point. To show what a series revival could look like, LexReviews shared a concept trailer for Smallville season 11. Check it out below.

Tom Welling's Older Superman & Erica Durance's Older Lois Lane Imagined In Stunning Smallville Art
Image
Smallville fan art showcases an older Superman and Lois Lane, imagining what they would look like if the show had continued beyond season 10. The artist imagines new outfits for the couple, including a full Superman costume for Clark Kent. Smallville ended with season 10, but continued on in a DC Comics series. Tom Welling also returned in The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.

Tom Welling and Erica Durance's popular versions of Superman and Lois Lane have been reimagined in a new piece of Smallville fan art that shows an older version of DC's most famous couple. Smallville ended about 13 years ago, but remains a popular version of the Superman story. Part of this is because Smallville has held up remarkably well for an older superhero show. Smallville's continued popularity is probably also in part due to stars Michael Rosenbaum and Welling's rewatch podcast, Talk Ville.

Michael Rosenbaum Shares Update On Potential ‘Smallville’ Animated Sequel Series: “The Whole Cast Would Like To Do It”
Image
Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in Smallville, is opening up about the idea he has for a sequel series in an animated form.

In a new interview, Rosenbaum revealed he and Tom Welling were developing an animated series with the original cast and creators of the show that originated in 2001 on the now-defunct WB network.

“All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar], the creators of Smallville, backing us up,” Rosenbaum said in an interview with Screen Rant. “When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this: pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time.”

10 Superhero Movie Actors You Totally Forgot Were On Smallville
Image
Smallville served as a platform for young actors to showcase their talents in superhero roles before major superhero franchises existed. Audiences may be pleasantly surprised to see familiar superhero actors interacting with Tom Welling's Clark Kent in Smallville. Smallville included intentional Superman cameos and cameos from previous actors connected to Superman, although young audiences may not have recognized them at the time.

Smallville's cast included many big-name superhero actors over its 10-year run. Some were intentional Superman cameos, while others were early roles for stars who would go on to have major superhero roles. Smallville originally aired back in 2001 before massive superhero franchises like the MCU or Dcu even existed, and it served as a good jumping off point for many young actors to show off their talents in superhero roles. The show also made sure to include cameos from previous actors who had connections to Superman, though...

20 Kryptonians On Smallville (Other Than Clark Kent)
Image
Smallville follows the adventures of Clark Kent, with many other Kryptonians also appearing on the show. Premiering in the fall of 2001, Smallville shows a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) in his adolescence and into early adulthood, with Clark gradually developing his Kryptonian powers and learning about his alien heritage as the Kryptonian refugee, Kal-El. Smallville ran for 10 seasons from 2001 to 2011, with Clark finally becoming Superman in the show's finale.

Many iconic characters from the Superman mythos also appear during Clark's journey to becoming Superman on Smallville, including his future arch-enemy Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). Additionally, Clark is far from the only Kryptonian seen on Smallville. While many Kryptonians appear in minor or background roles on Smallville, other Kryptonian characters appear in significant and even pivotal roles on the show. Here are the 20 main Kryptonian characters to appear on Smallville apart from Clark Kent himself.

Smallville Season 9: Best & Worst Episodes, Ranked
Before the Arrowverse was The CW’s flagship franchise, the network had Smallville; the Superman prequel that paved the way for today’s DC TV shows to exist. Supergirl: Mark Gibbon Reportedly Cast As Zod
Much like some of its other DC TV brethren, Supergirl‘s season finale will be here before you know it. And, if recent reports are to be believed, The CW has one hell of a surprise in store for us.

You see, according to Bleeding Cool, actor Mark Gibbon was recently spotted on set inhabiting the role of none other than General Zod. The outlet expects an official announcement to swiftly follow, which should happen if this proves true because, let’s not forget, official synopses for episodes tend to find their way online three weeks prior to airing. Odds are the episode in question is the season finale, currently slated to air on Monday, May 22, so we should know for certain before long.

This bit of information doesn’t seem like a leap in the slightest, especially when you factor in the knowledge that Tyler Hoechlin is set to...

Dartmoor Killing review – low-budget thriller starts well, goes downhill
Take away the gore in Peter Nicholson’s story of young hikers and you’d have an attractive promo for Dartmoor tourism

Peter Nicholson’s low-budget horror-thriller starts better than it ends. As two young hikers (Gemma-Leah Devereux, Rebecca Night) are led off the beaten track by a hunky guide (Callum Blue), the first act’s every set-up benefits from the screen-filling backdrops of the eponymous moors. It’s disappointing, then, that Nicholson should retreat from this spectacular stage to a farmhouse haunted by mysterious deaths; doubly so when the relationships, dialogue and action all stop ringing true. Redact the gore, and it’d make an attractive promo for Dartmoor tourism, but A Night in the Woods (2012) hounded its characters far more persuasively over this particular terrain.
