  • Trivia
When he was assigned to write a song about trolleys for "Meet Me in St. Louis", he was stumped. He went to the public library for inspiration, and there found a book with a picture of a St. Louis trolley with the caption "Clang, clang, clang went the trolley", which became the nucleus of "The Trolley Song".
