Creator Erin Foster spoke to IndieWire about what fans can expect when unconventional lovers Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) make it back to the small screen. Foster based the show on her own relationship with her husband, as the show follows a Rabbi who falls in love with a podcaster with no religious affiliation. The Hollywood Creative Alliance has announced their nominees for the 2025 Astra TV Awards, scheduled to take place on June 10 in Los Angeles.

Apple TV+'s comedy The Studio, a satire about the inner workings of Hollywood, topped the nominations list with 14 bids. The series is up for Best Comedy, with individual acting nominations for Seth Rogen (Best Comedy Actor), Ike Barinholtz (Best Comedy Supporting Actor), and dual Best Comedy Supporting Actress nods for Catherine O’Hara and Chase Sui Wonders.

In the drama categories, Apple TV+'s Severance and HBO's The Last of Us led the way with 13 nominations each. Both shows are recognized in multiple acting categories and are competing for Best Drama Series.

Other major contenders include The White Lotus and Ghosts, each earning 11 nominations, followed by Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building with 10 nods each.

Charlize Theron, Jude Law, and Jason Bateman hit the stage during the presentation to promote their upcoming Netflix projects on Wednesday (May 15) in New York City.

Charlize promoted her upcoming movie The Old Guard 2, while Jude and Jason promoted their upcoming limited series Black Rabbit.

Teyana Taylor, Sherri Shepherd, and Taraji P. Henson also hit the stage to promote their upcoming movie Tyler Perry’s Straw.

The day before, Teyana was at the 2025 Disney Upfront where she promoted her upcoming Hulu series All’s Fair alongside co-stars Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Sarah Paulson.

Netflix’s upfront event took place at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in Manhattan. The biggest name in streaming kept things intimate, with a scant 500 or so people in attendance. Compared to Disney, which filled a convention hall at the Javits Center, and NBCUniversal, which took over Radio City Music Hall, Netflix’s presentation felt downright cozy.

Heartthrob actors Kristen Bell and Adrian Brody made a comeback last year with the release of Nobody Wants This, a great Netflix romantic comedy about a Rabbi named Noah and an atheist sex podcaster named Joanne falling in love. Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, streaming on Netflix, is the most pitch-perfect serialized romcom I’ve seen in years. It is smart, funny, impish, and wise, without making any visible effort to be any of these. The dialogues are unerringly bang-on and unfailingly amusing.

You can’t afford to skip a beat in this one, no Sirreee! Not without wondering why everyone else in the room is laughing. Ah, that is another thing about Nobody Wants This: you have to watch it with those whom you love. The film has moved closer to one of the most notable feats in North America. Peacock is ready to reclaim the former glory of one of the best comedies of the past decade. After the conclusion of Parks and Recreation in 2015, creator Mike Schur and Amy Poehler are reuniting for a new project. Variety publicized that the new series has been titled Dig and is an adaptation of the Kate Myers book, Excavations. The synopsis for the comedy is as follows:

“Four women working at an archeological dig in Greece are at wildly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.”

In addition to starring in the project, Poehler has also been reported as co-writing the first episode with Schur. Though this is the first time that the two will reunite on a project, it isn’t Schur’s first project since the celebrated finale of Parks and Rec.

The upcoming fourth season of the Apple TV+ series Acapulco will be the comedy’s last on the streamer. Per Variety, the comedy was renewed for its fourth season back in August 2024, but at that time, it was not confirmed that it would be the final one for the series starring Eugenio Derbez.

The outlet has now confirmed that the fourth season, which will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 23, will be Acapulco’s last. “These four seasons have been magical,” said Derbez, who plays Máximo Gallardo on the series and is also an executive producer. The show follows a successful businessman (Derbez) as he reminisces about his younger years in the 1980s while working his dream job at a major resort called Las Colinas. The series currently boasts a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

As Hacks welcomed a late-night star in last week’s episode, the show facilitated a tense host-on-host exchange.

Co-creator Paul W. Downs noted it was guest star Jimmy Kimmel who thought up some of his own jokes in the episode, which saw him confront Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) on the CBS lot for stealing his guest booking, aiming some jabs at James Corden and Conan O’Brien.

The chances of The Four Seasons season 2 being renewed earn a hopeful response from two of the show's creative team. Co-created by the trio of Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, and drawing inspiration from the 1981 movie of the same name, the eight-episode Netflix comedy recently premiered. It follows six friends who go on a relaxing trip together, only to learn that one couple intends to end their relationship. With a Four Seasons cast that includes Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, Steve Carell, Erika Henningsen, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Fey, the series has received generally positive reviews.

In an interview with TV Insider, Wigfield and Fey addressed whether The Four Seasons could return for season 2. Wigfield referenced events in the finale for her response, noting that the Netflix comedy would follow many of the same characters if it received a renewal.

Adam Brody and Kristen Bell are, of course, the rom-com series' sole comedy lead submissions. The two were nominated at all of the winter awards for their performances as Hot Rabbi Noah and Joanne, respectively, with Brody winning the Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Actor.

Both "loser siblings" will be submitted in supporting. Timothy Simons, who plays Noah's brother Sasha, is the lone comedy supporting actor entrant. Justine Lupe, who plays Joanne's sister and podcast co-host Morgan, will submit in comedy supporting actress, alongside Jackie Tohn, who plays Esther, Sasha's wife. Tohn was recurring in Season 1 and will be a series regular in Season 2.

Netflix is launching its own two-week TV festival to toast its hit series, this year moving it to Los Angeles.

The studio announced the inaugural fest, titled Fysee LA, that will take place across Los Angeles from May 17 to June 2. The casts of series such as “Adolescence,” “Squid Game,” “Nobody Wants This,” and “Black Mirror” will be in attendance, with a special taping of “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney” opening the festival at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Fysee LA will host a dedicated festival headquarters with special marathon screenings and a destination for crafts, with events tailored to Emmy voters. Netflix emphasized that Fysee LA will support local businesses that were impacted by the 2024 wildfires; initiatives include highlighting restaurants, coffee shops, florists, and more as the festival brings voters to various locations in the city. Michael Schur’s The Good Place delivers its biggest plot twist in the Season 1 finale when Eleanor, played by Kristen Bell, realizes the truth. Given the magnitude of the revelation, it’s reasonable to assume that this twist would have been a huge selling point when Schur pitched the series to NBC.

Awards season may have only just wrapped up, but SAG-AFTRA is already looking ahead to next year. The guild announced Tuesday that the 2026 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt. The 2026 ceremony will mark the 32nd Annual SAG Awards and it will air a little later than the 2025 edition of the show, which streamed on Netflix on Feb. 23. During this year’s show, which were hosted by Kristen Bell and held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, Jane Fonda was presented with the SAG Life Achievement Award.

The submission window for nomination consideration for the 2026 SAG Awards will officially open on Monday, Aug. 25. It will close on Monday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. Pt, and the nomination voting period will last Dec.

Michael Schur’s breakout hit The Good Place charmed people for four seasons before being concluded in 2020. With crazy plots and crazier characters, the sitcom touched fans’ hearts by dealing with many sensitive themes wrapped in humor.

This also gave Schur the opportunity to explore new horizons when it came to themes like grief, adventure, heaven, and, of course, the deeply flawed human morality and its consequences.

Obviously, with all the elements that came into play in Michael Schur’s series, it also helped him shoot some completely unprecedented sequences in The Good Place. Interestingly, though, even after all of that, there was one scene the show creator couldn’t film. Unfortunately, it became his biggest regret in the series.
