Charlize Theron took the stage at Netflix’s 2025 Upfront “fresh off the mountain” from filming Apex, where she was injured on the set.

The star joked about hiding her fractured toe during filming on the film’s set in Australia.

“God, I miss early mornings in the wilderness, birds chirping, extremes babbling, and the leaves rustling as a serial killer waits for me,” Theron jokingly set at the Netflix event. “It’s actually a miracle that I’m here today. Apex only wrapped like a week ago, so I’m fresh off the mountain. I still have some Australian dirt under this pretty manicure, and my cute boot is hiding a fractured toe.”

Theron noted that filming Apex “was one of the most incredible experiences” of her life, adding, “We shot in beautiful locations, deep in gorgeous and stunning rivers in Australia, is no man’s land, literally no like no man’s land.

Netflix just released the first batch of photos from Untamed, a limited series set to premiere on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The six episode series stars Eric Bana as a special agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch.

The cast also includes Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, and Wilson Bethel.

For all its perceived faults, there's no denying that Netflix does mysteries extremely well. Be it foreign or domestic, the streaming service has produced a lot of great gems over the years, and it's hoping that it has another on its hands by way of Untamed. Starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill, the new limited series is set to hit Netflix in July, and promises to show fans Yosemite National Park like never before.

Highlighted by Tudum, all six episodes of Untamed will drop on July 17, 2025, with each one being an hour in length, so there's plenty to get lost in as you try and solve the mystery. Focusing on Bana's character of Kyle Turner – a special agent in an elite branch of the National Parks Service – the series traces what happens after a murder takes place in Yosemite, which is visited by around four million people each year.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Survivors", an underrated episode, the U.S.S. Enterprise arrives at a remote colony on the planet Delta Rana IV, responding to a distress call. Will there ever be another Hulk movie? Oh, I'm sure Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner will pop back up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon, probably in "Avengers: Doomsday" and/or "Secret Wars." IFC Films’ Memoir of a Snail, nominated in what’s shaped up to be among the most competitive categories of this Academy Awards, is back in more than 500 theaters nationwide Tuesday night.

The film sees Theron playing a rock climber who finds herself in the terrifying situation of being hunted in the wilderness. Egerton plays the psychopath stalking Theron’s character. The Carry-On star was announced as an Apex cast member in November 2024. Reykjavík, Iceland-born filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur is set to direct the film while the screenplay was written by Jeremy Robbins, whose credits include The Purge television series.

The project has been described as Free Solo meets The Silence of the Lambs, which sounds like an interesting combination. Theron stars as “a rock climber and adrenaline junkie who finds out that nature isn’t the only dangerous element out to get her when she sets out on an expedition in the wild.” Taron Egerton has also joined the cast as a psychopath who will be stalking Theron’s character. It’s not known who Bana will be playing in the movie.

The announcement comes after the actor was seen as Ben Monroe in A Sacrifice, and he's also known for his villainous turn in J.J. Abbrams' Star Trek. Not much is known about the premise of Apex, other than the fact that the feature will be centered around a rock climber who will be forced to survive while being hunted. Eric Bana's character for this story hasn't been revealed yet. It remains to be seen how the actor will fit into what promises to be a thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
