Exclusive: I sit down for breakfast with Charlie Sheen not exactly knowing what to expect. His bookend episodes of Bookie that reunited him with Two And a Half Men‘s Chuck Lorre remind of what was lost after the actor’s inexplicable, substance-fueled “Tiger Blood” meltdown led to an abrupt parting of the ways and separating him from one of sitcom TV’s highest-ever salaries at a reported $1.8 million an episode. It has been a dozen years since then, and I come in harboring my own feelings. Basically, Two And a Half Men (the Charlie Harper Years) have been my reliable go-to at the end of most long days in the trenches. I can practically recite the dialogue along with Sheen, Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, as well as Holland Taylor (their mom), Melanie Lynskey (Charlie’s stalker), Marin Hinkle (Alan Harper’s ex), and the late Conchata Ferrell, who played the housekeeper Berta.

Chuck Lorre unveiled his custom vanity card No. 669 at the end of each of his four comedies on CBS’ Thursday night lineup, with a tribute to former Warner Bros. Television Group chairman Peter Roth.
Dubbed Peter In The Hug (With apologies to Casey at the Bat), Lorre referred to Roth as “our happy hugging hero”, a nod to Roth who was known for his hugs (pre-Covid and pre #MeToo). “So many years, he cheered us on, our happy hugging hero,” the message read.
Roth exited as chairman of Wbtv Group earlier this year following AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner, replaced by Disney/ABC and Netflix alum Channing Dungey.
“Retirement’s not an option, for men such as he. Peter’s thinking show biz, while he’s sitting down to pee,” Lorre wrote.

Producer Chuck Lorre paid tribute to former Warner Bros. TV Group chief Peter Roth as “our happy hugging hero” in a message featured on his custom vanity card that aired tonight at the end of the four Lorre-produced comedies on CBS’ Thursday lineup.
For vanity card No. 669, the prolific producer penned a cheeky poem that he dubbed “Peter at the Hug (With apologies to ‘Casey at the Bat’).”
Roth led Warner Bros.’ mighty TV group for 21 years before leaving early this year amid the massive shakeups on the Burbank lot that have followed AT&T’s 2018 acquisition of Time Warner. Channing Dungey, an alumnus of Disney/ABC and Netflix, was named Roth’s successor as Wbtv leader in October.
Lorre’s salute to the ex-chief makes mention of Roth’s penchant for hugging (“So many years he cheered us on/our happy hugging hero”) and pulls no punches against “the gentiles” at AT&T.

The cast and crew of “Two and a Half Men” gathered to share fond memories of their beloved co-star Conchata Ferrell after news of her death broke Tuesday, calling her death “a shocking and painful loss.”
Ferrell starred as Berta the housekeeper on the popular sitcom which ran for 12 seasons on CBS. She was surrounded by her family in Sherman Oaks, California when she died of complications resulting from a cardiac arrest on Oct. 12, according to Deadline.
“Two and a Half Men” co-creator Chuck Lorre remembered her fondly in a statement to Deadline, writing: “We called her Chatty. And we all loved her. Twelve years of highs and lows, and lots and lots of laughter. Through it all she was a rock. One of the greats. I was privileged to call her a friend.”

For 12 seasons, Conchata Ferrell played sharp-tonged housekeeper Berta on CBS’ Two and a Half Men. Starting off as a recurring character in Season 1, Berta quickly became a fan favorite, and Ferrell became a series regular for the remainder of the sitcom’s long run on CBS, earning two Emmy nominations. Following Ferrell’s death at age 77, the creators and stars of Two and a Half Men are paying tribute to their former colleague and friend.
Co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre mourned the loss of Ferrell, recalling the time they worked together on the CBS comedy.

Two and a Half Men is headed to streaming. The multi-camera comedy, co-created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, has been sold to NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming platform Peacock by Warner Bros. Television in a joint deal with another Wbtv sitcom, George Lopez. The announcement is being made at Comcast’s Peacock presentation today.
No details are provided but I hear the deal gives Peacock exclusive Svod rights to the two shows and is valued in the low-to-mid nine-figure range.
Warner Bros. initially had bundled Two and a Half Men with Lorre’s flagship comedy series, The Big Bang Theory. WarnerMedia’s own upcoming streamer, HBO Max, was talks about acquiring both but ultimately picked up only The Big Bang Theory, which joined Friends on the streamer’s acquisition roster, both in mega deals.
Two and a Half Men was subsequently taken out and landed at Peacock, along with George Lopez.

The shoot for The Miseducation of Cameron Post coincided with the 2016 election, which gave the cast a crew a sense of urgency. Chloë Grace Moretz plays the title character in a story about a teen forced to attend gay conversion therapy. The FilmRise release is among the weekend’s rather limited slate of Specialty newcomers. Before he became one of television’s most successful writers and producers — his credits include hits like “Murphy Brown,” “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory” — Lee Aronsohn was just another young hippie attending Uc Boulder during the ’70s. Like many who came of adult age during what was termed the “Boulder Revolution,” Aronsohn was a devotee of the local band Magic Music. When you think of all-time-great jam bands, you’re thinking of so much of what Magic Music was: long-haired dudes, sunny songs, a bent towards liberal ideals.
Aronsohn, like many other Boulder residents, was convinced that Magic Music was headed towards the big time. Four decades later, he turns his attention back to the music and place his youth to uncover why — and how — they didn’t. The result is “40 Years in the Making: The Magic Music Movie,” a documentary that tells a story...

There’s a big surprise today in the Writers Guild West‘s 2013 initial list of election candidates: the scribe selected to run against incumbent president Christopher Keyser declined the nomination. That means, unless someone else can be convinced to run, Keyser right now is running unopposed. Ready for a little Two and a Half Men spoiler? Get ready! Former General Hospital actress Julie Marie Berman is coming to town! Hey, Alan, I think she’s single.
For about 8 years, Berman brought to life Lulu Spencer for General Hospital, but ER and Boston Public are also on her resume. Lulu, the Port Charles-born blonde, was once cryogenically frozen in one of the soap opera’s crazier story lines. Pretty nifty, no?
Just the opposite can be expected when she comes to the Two and a Half Men set. Berman is going to heat things up instead. TVLine has confirmed that the actress will be a “micro guest” the May 2 episode. Her character is a pretty girl in a bar who with catch Alan’s fancy. Good luck with that, Alan! I know you’ll find some way to screw up your chances. But don’t worry.

Comedy pilot Mom has solidified its status as frontrunner for the fall CBS schedule. The project, from the network’s biggest hit maker Chuck Lorre, already snagged Anna Faris for the lead. Now it has also scored Emmy winner Allison Janney. Mom, which Lorre co-wrote on spec with two members of his Two And A Half Men team — executive producer Eddie Gorodetsky and story editor Gemma Baker — centers on Christy (Faris), a newly sober single mom who tries to pull her life together in Napa Valley. Janney will play her mom Bonnie, who is the source of a lot of Christy’s previous problems, most likely because she wasn’t the best mother. Mom landed Janney in a competitive situation, with three other pilots pursuing her. The project reunites Janney and Lorre. In 2007, Lorre and his Two And A Half co-creator Lee Aronsohn developed a CBS comedy pilot for her to star.

Please stop watching it, please stop filling your head with filth." The statement, which was part of a testimonial YouTube video featuring Jones released by the religious website Forerunner Chronicle, has been all over the web in the last few days, drawing attention not just for the rarity of an actor speaking out against a show with which he's still involved but because the show seems forever doomed to some kind of controversy, from former star Charlie Sheen's meltdown and departure to co-creator Lee Aronsohn's remarks about female-driven comedies back in April. Through his PR firm, Jones has now released...

Some of TV's funniest women still have an issue with former "Two and a Half Men" showrunner Lee Aronsohn's "labia saturation" comments. And for good reason.

Just as it appears Ashton Kutcher and the rest of the "Two and a Half Men" team are ready to re-up for one more year, the program is losing one of its key creative visionaries. Ep Lee Aronsohn is leaving the show.
Aronsohn, who co-created the highly-rated comedy with Chuck Lorre, will be replaced by Don Reo and Jim Patterson. Reo joined "Men" as a consulting producer in 2010. Patterson has been with the series since 2006. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Aronsohn will transition into a consulting position on the show.
Wbtv has not commented on the matter.
Aronsohn caused a bit of a stir recently when he complained that there were too many female-centric comedies on TV. At the time he says, "We're approaching peak vagina on television, the point of labia saturation." Aronsohn later apologized for these statements. Judd Apatow's involvement as an executive producer on "Girls" started with an email.
After watching the 2010 indie film "Tiny Furniture," Apatow sent writer-director-star Lena Dunham a note expressing his excitement: "I said, 'Hey, if you ever want to kick anything around, let me know,'" Apatow recalled to HuffPost. As it turns out, she did.
What they kicked around was "Girls," a new HBO series (premieres Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 p.m. Et) that stars Dunham as a single girl navigating love and work in New York with her friends. The show -- which has already been on the receiving end of high praise from The New Yorker, The New York Times and New York magazine -- feels like the beginning of something special, which Apatow realized during production.

Lena Dunham, the creator of new HBO series Girls, has criticised remarks made by Two and a Half Men exec Lee Aronsohn. Aronsohn, who co-created the CBS sitcom, recently suggested that television was becoming too female-centric. Remember Two and a Half Men co-creator Lee Aronsohn, who complained that the influx of female-skewed shows on television had us reaching a dangerous point of "labia saturation"? (Oh, you had blocked this from your mind? Sorry 'bout it.) Girls creator Lena Dunham remembers, and she's still reeling from his bold anti-humor. "It's such an assholic thing to say. It's so dickish," Dunham tells HuffPo. "I felt especially bad for him because it's not even a funny joke. If you had a good quip, I'd be like, 'Well, you're a dick, but at least you're a good comedy writer.' But with that, I was like, 'Come on, dude. Labia saturation point?'" Added Dunham, "I almost wanted to do a tweet, but I didn't do it: 'Since we've reached our labia saturation point on television, I've decided not to release Girls.' Like, 'HBO's behind me on this decision...

Even if you don't know who Lena Dunham is, you've heard of Lena Dunham. In the last few weeks, she has appeared on the cover of New York magazine, she was the subject of an op-ed penned by famed New York Times columnist Frank Bruni, and her visage has been plastered on seemingly every New York City subway platform in posters for her new HBO series, "Girls" (premieres Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 p.m. Et). She's also, as "Girls" executive producer Jenni Konner told The Huffington Post without a hint of sarcasm, "really made of magic."
Konner isn't necessarily kidding. In person, Dunham is smart, funny, thoughtful and, yes, magical -- even on four hours of sleep. (HuffPost TV caught Dunham the afternoon after "Girls" had its star-studded New York premiere.) It's no wonder people like Judd Apatow are falling over themselves to work with her. Two women sit in a restaurant. As they wait for their food, they discuss current events, politics, and an interesting historical tidbit one of them recently learned. Their food arrives and the conversation moves into the more personal- one woman’s marathon training, the upcoming nuptials of a (female) family member. To the canny observer, the conversation is incredibly telling of these two women and their personalities- their philosophies, their interests and priorities, how they see and define themselves and who they hope to be in the future. In a TV season defined for many by the influx of “female-friendly” programming, which series is this scene lifted from? None of them- it’s a description of this writer’s lunch last week with her mom.

Lee Aronsohn, co-creator of the sitcom “Two and a Half Men," thinks that there are just too many women on television these days.
During an interview Sunday with The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Screenwriting Conference, Aronsohn derided the female-centric television shows that have premiered this year on major networks, including NBC’s “Whitney” and CBS’ “2 Broke Girls.”
"Enough ladies, I get it. You have periods,” he said. “But we’re approaching peak vagina on television, the point of labia saturation.”
Unfortunately, he didn’t stop there.
“Two and a Half Men” is known for its less-than-flattering portrayals of women. Aronsohn, who is also an executive producer of the show, told conference attendees that he didn’t feel bad about how his show presents its female characters. “Screw it… We're centering the show on two very damaged men. What makes men damaged? Sorry, it’s women. I never got my heart broken by a man.

Ladies of television, it sounds like Lee Aronsohn has had enough of you. Period. In an interview Sunday with The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Screenwriting Conference, the Two and a Half Men co-creator had some pretty bold statements to make about the current status of female-driven comedies on television… When discussing TV's recent "boom" of women-centric shows, Aronsohn proved to not be a fan, saying, "Enough, ladies. I get it. You have periods." You heard that right. Apparently there isn't enough room for penis jokes and period jokes on the small screen. With scenes as cutting edge and tasteful as this coming out of his brain, he has every right to demand that...
