Pippa Middleton can't stop smiling - and for good reason! The 32-year-old was spotted out and about in London on Wednesday, and couldn't help but wear a grin as she walked around with her engagement ring on full display. The newly-engaged royal sister sported a flower-printed dress with tan wedges during the outing and let her long brunette locks tumble loose over her shoulders. But all eyes were on the huge sparkler on her left hand. Set in white gold or platinum with a center stone at least three carats in size, "the Art Deco design makes me think it...

So far, the designer behind Pippa Middleton's stunning engagement ring from new fiancé James Matthews hasn't stepped forward - but London jewelers are weighing in. "It's hugely practical, because it's quite flat and it will be very easy for her to wear," says jeweler Annoushka Ducas, whose eponymous boutique off the King's Road has been a go-to choice of Pippa, her sister Princess Kate and their mom Carole for years. "It's a very timeless piece that will look as good now as it will in 50 years time. It's bezel fit making it a bit more modern, which fits in very well with her style.

The first image of the brand new Tracy brothers from the upcoming Thunderbirds reboot was released earlier today (January 15).
As it turned out, the reaction was less than Fab, with many fans of the original series sharing their views on Twitter. Boyband comparisons and terrifying death stares are among the most noted complaints so far.
Here are just a few reactions from Gerry Anderson fans old and new:
It's called Thunderbirds, not Thunderblokes
— Alec Meer HD (@bonzrat) January 15, 2015
So, the new #Thunderbirds are basically One Direction as Power Rangers? http://t.co/z9MjEBqfFe pic.twitter.com/ihIxvXBbqX
— Christopher Allen (@chris_allen) January 15, 2015
And I thought that Busted song was the biggest insult to Thunderbirds. These new Tracy Brothers make me want to vomit.
— Daniel Sperling (@dan_sperling) January 15, 2015
As creepy as they are, the new CGI Thunderbirds somehow look even more human than most of the Tory frontbench. pic.

Tremors? Nightbreed? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat? 976-evil? Are all on the list this year. And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.
But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. But we will in this last section and the others lost to us last year.
So farewell fight fans and remember,...

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 10 scientific and technical achievements represented by 22 individual award recipients will be honored at its annual Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation at the Beverly Wilshire on Saturday, February 12, 2011.
Unlike other Academy Awards to be presented this year, achievements receiving Scientific and Technical Awards need not have been developed and introduced during 2010. Rather, the achievements must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the process of making motion pictures.
The Academy Awards for scientific and technical achievements are:
Scientific and Engineering Awards (Academy Plaques)
To Dr. Mark Sagar for his early and continuing development of influential facial motion retargeting solutions.
Dr. Sagar.s work led to a method for transforming facial motion capture data into an expression-based, editable character animation system that has been used in motion pictures with a high volume of digital characters.

In many ways, 2010 was the end of an era for early 21st century television. David Tennant handed over his sonic screwdriver to Matt Smith, Gene Hunt went Ashes To Ashes, seminal reality show Big Brother came to an end, Jack Bauer departed the small screen, Heroes limped its last, and Lost reached its controversial conclusion. But how did the expert minds on the Tube Talk team rank last year's fare? After a highly heated debate, including a systematic bullying of the editor (it got physical), the top 25 was decided. Read on for our picks! Selections and commentary by Catriona Wightman, Chris Allen, Morgan Jeffery and Neil Wilkes 25. Being Human
It's on the outskirts of our poll this year and it's hard to deny that the second series of Being Human was a bit of a let-down after the fantastic first year. Nonetheless, there were enough (more)...

For the lucky music-loving Los Angelenos who managed to snag tickets to Kroq's annual Almost Acoustic Christmas concert, the experience was likely one for the record books. For this writer, who does not leave her desk or home nearly enough to take part in musical performances, night two of the 2010 Christmas event has inspired a resolution to go support more musicians and their live shows. The lineup for the second night included Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Broken Bells, Temper Trap, Neon Trees, Florence & the Machine, the Black Keys, Brandon Flowers, Vampire Weekend and Phoenix all on the same bill — truly an all-star cast of envelope-pushing rockers.
But for me, the breakout story of the show was Neon Trees. I knew a few of their songs before going in, but they were by far the standout performance of the entire evening. If there was an award...

The service established itself as a hub for service-seeking bargain-hunters, but is it becoming a haven for bait-and-switch hucksters? CEO Andrew Mason tells Fast Company how he's responding to new complaints.
Groupon set out to challenge the old adage, "You get what you pay for." The company’s quickly learning that might not always be the best thing.
The site features businesses hoping to lure a quick, loyal clientele by slashing prices on services for a limited number of "Groupon" buyers. The thought being that, once someone experiences the service, they'll pay full price again—or tell a friend. But that's not always what's happening.
Groupon users are reporting customer service horrors and openly questioning whether the site is perpetuating a bigger fraud. Some have pointed out on message boards and Facebook pages their experiences with sellers who offer 1,000-plus "Groupons" for services at cut-rate prices but don't have the...

Thanks to a smart Ted talk by biologist Janine Beynus that made the rounds a few years ago, books like Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature, and new online resources like AskNature.org, more and more designers are realizing a simple truth when trying to find responsible, ecological solutions: If we're trying to do it, chances are, nature already did it better.
Biomimicry is quickly becoming a cornerstone of sustainable design (read our story on biomimicry from 2008), but for designers who want to incorporate biomimicry into their work, many don't know where to start. Some famous biomimetic solutions have gotten passed around the mainstream press--including examples like self-cleaning surfaces modeled on lotus flowers, or the sticky repositionable tape inspired by gecko feet--but biomimicry isn't as easy as using nature as a crib sheet. "One of the big realizations that designers have when they play with biomimicry is that it's not a tool,...
