Jensen Ackles in The Boys (2019)

Jensen Ackles

4 Eric Kripke shows to watch (and 2 to skip)
Image
When it comes to showrunners, Eric Kripke is one of the most consistent. You know what to expect, and if you don’t, then you haven’t seen enough of his content. He’s a lover of urban myths, history, and downright absurdity, and he’s also a man who likes to create something timely and timeless all at the same time.

The majority of people will know Kripke for his CW series Supernatural, but he has worked on many other shows and movies before that. Since his Supernatural days, he’s become a creator to watch out for, but that doesn’t mean everything he’s made is something you need to watch right now. Although I’ll admit that it was hard to put a show to skip on this list.

Supernatural’s Most Glaring Flaw Is Bobby’s House and Dean’s Car Defied Logic for 15 Seasons
Image
Supernatural has always been a top choice when you want to watch something that has both heart and horror. Whether it’s Sam and Dean’s brotherly shenanigans, insane monsters, or jaw-dropping cameos (remember when Scooby Doo and gang showed up?), the show has maintained its fanbase throughout the decades.

And I know, finding logic in a show that’s all about the supernatural – quite literally – might seem like nitpicking. However, if we are talking about the flaws of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki-starrer, let’s start with how Bobby Singer’s house was always around the corner and how Dean’s Impala stood strong despite the miles on it.

Gabriel Macht Has Heard Your Batman Comparisons and He Will Play the Dark Knight Only Under 1 Condition
Image
We are all eagerly waiting for James Gunn to choose the next Batman for his rebooted superhero universe. While some are vouching for Jensen Ackles to take on the Caped Crusader, others believe that they already have the perfect Batman – Robert Pattinson. Now, it looks like another popular actor is ready to play the superhero: Gabriel Macht. Best known for his work as Harvey Specter in Suits, we can’t deny that he has the charisma one would look for in Bruce Wayne.

While he doesn’t have any active plans of joining the DC Universe, he recently stated that he would have to seriously consider playing the character under one condition.

The Worst Season of Supernatural: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki Couldn’t Save Season 12 from Its Awful Storyline
Image
Fifteen seasons. Two networks. One apocalypse. And the ever-evolving mystery of Jared Padalecki’s hair. Supernatural finally hung up its salt and holy water in November 2020 after 327 monster-hunting, demon-slaying, emotionally devastating episodes. It survived The WB turning into The CW, a revolving door of showrunners after Kripke stepped down post-Season 5, and even a real-world pandemic.

It was phenomenal, but not every season hit the mark. Season 12 was a bit of a cursed object, but through angels, leviathans, time travel, and even Scooby-Doo, the Winchester boys kept things entertaining. The show could make the viewers laugh, cry, and occasionally sleep with the lights on. Even with its ups and downs, Supernatural stuck around not just because of its fanbase, but because it never lost its charm or its knack for not taking itself too seriously.

What went down in Supernatural season 12?

Now that everything great has been acknowledged about Supernatural, it...

"What Does Her World Look Like?": ‘Tracker’ Season 3 Will Explore Reenie Further
Image
The second season of Tracker has completed its run and with its season finale came an earth-shattering revelation regarding the circumstances behind the death of Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen). It is a moment that negatively impacted the Shaw family in the Justin Hartley-led CBS procedural. The drama has been renewed for a third season and while Hartley's Colter and his siblings will have to deal with this new piece of information somehow, the upcoming season will also look to flesh out another character. Fiona Rene's Reenie Greene has been a mainstay since the series premiered in 2024. Despite working as legal counsel for Colter and their occasional romantic tension, not much has been revealed about the character. Showrunner Elwood Reid reveals that is all about to change in Season 3.

Reid, in an interview with ScreenRant, was quizzed about whether Velma Bruin (Abby McEnany) would have a bigger role...

“Had I known he was going to last that long…”: Supernatural Producer on the Character He Inspired in the Show
Image
Robert Singer, a producer on Supernatural, was under the impression that the character named after him was not going to stick around for long. However, the reality was far from that, given that Singer grew to regret giving him his name a little.

Bobby Singer is one of the more beloved characters in Supernatural. It turns out that the producer would have protested a little more if he had known that his namesake was going to stick around for a while in the show.

It seems that Robert Singer might have been in on the joke when he gave Bobby Singer his name, but he was definitely not prepared for how long the character was going to last on the show. Regarding that, he said:

“He’s Going to Get Some Lies”: Showrunner Elwood Reid Teases ’Tracker’s Season 3 Storyline Going Forward
Image
The hit CBS drama series Tracker ended its second season run this past Sunday with an episode titled "Echo Ridge." The Justin Hartley-led CBS procedural ended on a spicy cliffhanger as Hartley's Colter Shaw finally meets the one responsible for pushing his father, Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen), to his death. While Otto (Shane Leydon) might have shoved Ashton off the cliff, the episode reveals that Colter's mother, Mary (Wendy Crewson), was the mastermind. It's likely to be an earth-shattering moment for Colter when Season 3 arrives, and showrunner Elwood Reid has teased what comes next for Colter and his family.

“I think Colter is going to get an answer; he’s going to get some lies," Reid tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I mean, look, it’s families. Families are fucking messy. Family will lie to your face. What’s interesting about Colter, it’s like, what does he do...

The Boys season 5 will see 'emotional' storyline between Homelander and Soldier Boy
Image
The Boys season 3 delivered a powerful moment, and that was the big reveal that Soldier Boy is Homelander’s dad. However, nothing could come of that in the fourth season, but there is hope for The Boys season 5.

At the end of The Boys season 4, Homelander was reunited with his (frozen) dad. Soldier Boy was put on ice due to how dangerous he was. Not only did he want to destroy all those who betrayed him back in the day, but he was able to wipe out all Supes by removing the Compound-v from their system. This could have been great for those who wanted to lose their powers, but not so great for those who needed them.

Homelander had no idea where Soldier Boy was taken, but that was revealed to him at the end of the fourth season. Now he has a chance to face his father, while...

Before Supernatural, Jensen Ackles Was in Almost 500 Episodes of One of the Most Popular Soap Operas on the Planet
Image
Jensen Ackles is best known for his stint as Dean Winchester in the globally popular series Supernatural. Ackles appeared in all fifteen seasons of the show and etched his name into modern pop culture as the series ended up with more than three hundred episodes, a number many television stars will struggle to replicate.

Despite the longevity of his Supernatural role, it isn’t by far the most number of episodes the actor has appeared in a single show. Instead, that honor goes to one of the most popular daytime soap operas, which gave Ackles his start in Hollywood. Here is everything you need to know about Ackles’ nearly 500 episode-long stint on a popular soap opera.

Supernatural star Jensen Ackles was in almost 500 episodes of Days of Our Lives

The Boys boss Eric Kripke discusses Homelander's "tragic" existence
Image
Over the years, The Boys supervillain Homelander (Antony Starr) has become one of the most universally despised characters in the genre. Of all the characters that fall into the "Evil Superman" archetype, from Brightburn to Omni-Man, it's Homelander who's the most talked-about.

Looking ahead to the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys, Homelander is more unhinged than ever. With people like Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and a newly-Suped Ashley (Colby Minifie) out to kill him once and for all, fans can expect a bloodbath from start to finish. As the show has proved time and time again, no level of vulgarity or gruesomeness is off the table.

While it's hard to have sympathy for someone as pathologically evil as Homelander, showrunner Eric Kripke recently weighed in on the fundamental tragedy of his story. "It’s sort of tragic, actually, but ultimately, the guy just wants someone to love him,...

“Do you have bigger cups?”: 15 Years Later, I Still Can’t Believe Supernatural Kept Jared Padalecki’s Most Unscripted Moment in the Show’s Funniest Episode
Image
Supernatural ran for fifteen seasons, and a large part of its lasting appeal centered on the performances of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. The series frequently allowed the actors to improve, resulting in some of the best unscripted moments. However, one improv moment from Padalecki stands out even after fifteen years.

In the show’s sixth season, an episode saw the Winchester brothers encounter fairies. The episode features some of the most hilarious interactions between the brothers, with Padalecki ad-libbing one hilarious line that proves why fans still aren’t over the episode’s humor. Here is why I can’t believe Jared Padalecki improved this funny Supernatural line.

Jared Padalecki improvised one of the funniest lines in Supernatural season 6 episode 9

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki played brothers Dean and Sam Winchester in all fifteen seasons of Supernatural. The series frequently incorporated humor to balance its horror aesthetic, greatly contributing to its longevity and popularity.

“It’s So F***ing Hard To Get Their Schedules”: ‘Tracker’ Producer Reveals If Jensen Ackles and Melissa Roxburgh Will Ever Return
Image
There’s no doubt that a cameo or guest appearance from a beloved actor can help drive up viewership numbers and maybe even add some new fans. Although the Justin Hartley-led CBS procedural, Tracker, certainly wasn’t aching for extra eyes, it didn’t hurt when Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) and Melissa Roxburgh (The Hunting Party) were introduced to the story as the siblings of Hartley’s Colter Shaw. With the title recently wrapping its second season, all eyes are on what’s to come from Season 3. While there are plenty of directions that the next installment could move in, many fans are wondering if or when a Shaw family reunion will come into play.

Luckily, executive producer Elwood Reid shed some light on the potential meet-up during a chat with TV Insider. At this point, it sounds like both Ackles and Roxburgh are game to return to the drama,...

Tracker Boss Unpacks Season 2 Finale's Reveal Of Colter's Father's Killer: "I Want To Make One Clarification"
Image
Tracker showrunner Elwood Reid has moved to clarify the events of the Tracker season 2 finale revelation about who killed Colter's dad Ashton. The hit action drama debuted on CBS in February 2024, and stars Justin Hartley as lone wolf survivalist and 'rewardist' Colter Shaw, who helps find missing people, and is haunted by the death of his father as a child. While the show has played with the strained Shaw family dynamics, the season 2 finale took things up a notch, revealing who killed his father, whilst also adding further questions to the tragedy.

Per TV Line, Reid clarifies that the episode's revelation — that Otto Waldron pushed Ashton to his death, seemingly at the behest of Colter's mother Mary — does not mean that Mary ordered the death of Ashton, but that it does signify a degree of involvement in what happened. He reveals that there is plenty to mine with this storyline,...

Justin Hartley and ‘Tracker’ Showrunner Elwood Reid Break Down That Big Reveal to End Season 2
Image
[This story contains spoilers from the season two finale of Tracker.]

It was inevitable. Two seasons of the CBS hit action drama, Tracker, starring Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, found the protagonist, a nationwide finder of missing people, never quite able to solve the mystery of who killed his father many decades ago when he was a teenager. The tragic event has lingered with and haunted Colter all the way into adulthood and alienated him from much of his family.

For many years, Colter blamed his older brother Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles) for seemingly having a direct impact on their father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen), falling off of a cliff to his death in the woods near the town of “Echo Ridge” (also the name of the final episode). Ashton, a brilliant professor at Berkeley University, moved his wife, Mary Dove (Wendy Crewson) and their three children (sister Dory played by Melissa Roxburgh rounds out the siblings) to live off the...

‘Tracker’ Boss Talks Finale Cliffhanger, Colter’s Father’s Killer & More
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Tracker Season 2 finale “Echo Ridge.”] Colter’s (Justin Hartley) getting answers about what happened the night his father was killed, but they may not be the ones he wants to hear. The Tracker Season 2 finale, which aired on Sunday, May 11, saw him return home to Echo Ridge for an investigation, only for that to lead him to a big piece of his family mystery. A woman calls Colter in to find her missing brother, which leads to the discovery that he stumbled upon a child-trafficking ring. He was killed for his attempt to intervene. Then, at one of the houses where the kidnapped kids were kept, Colter stumbled upon one of his father’s carvings. That, eventually, led him to the man whom his brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) saw in the woods with their father the night he died, Otto (Alex Fernandez). He confirmed that he pushed Colter’s father...

‘Tracker’ Star Justin Hartley on Who Killed Colter’s Dad and How That Finale Cliffhanger Sets Up Season 3
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “Echo Ridge,” the Season 2 finale of CBS’ “Tracker.”

As a self-described lone wolf survivalist, Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) has used his expert tracking skills to help crack all kinds of mysteries for private citizens and law enforcement across the United States. But for two seasons of the CBS drama “Tracker,” Colter has slowly begun to unravel the decades-long mystery surrounding the death of his own father, Ashton, whose paranoia about government surveillance had forced the rest of their family to live off the grid as survivalists.

While he had long suspected that his estranged older brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles), was responsible for fatally pushing their father off a cliff on a rainy night in the woods, Colter could not shake the feeling that he wasn’t being told the full story. After asking for Colter’s help on a case involving one of...

Tracker Season 2 Finale, “Echo Ridge” Does Colter Find What He’s Looking For?
Image
Tracker spoilers and updates reveal This Sunday, CBS will unveil the thrilling finale of Tracker Season 2, titled ‘Echo Ridge.’ Viewers can expect plenty of unexpected twists as Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) returns to Echo Ridge to probe the mysterious disappearance of a diner owner.

Long Lost Family Secrets

Since the beginning of the series, audiences have been introduced to Colter’s family tragedy-this week takes him on a quest to uncover a long-hidden kidnapping case and a shocking family secret.

As a child, he witnessed his father’s murder and spent years believing that his brother, Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles), was to blame.

Russell revealed that many events unfolded that night, including an encounter with another man who was later seen speaking to their mother.

This meeting was peculiar, as she implored him to remain silent about the events surrounding Ashton Shaw’s (uncast) death. Now, with the help of...

Rescue: Hi-Surf’s Late-Season Glow-Up Wasn’t Enough to Save It
Image
We’ve grown used to the loss of shows we’ve come to love in today’s television world.

The sentiment is especially prevalent when a network or streaming service doesn’t deem it viable for continuation after a first season.

I had a feeling we wouldn’t see another season of Rescue: Hi-Surf, but even believing that, the news of its cancellation hit hard because the show had finally started to hit its stride during the latter part of its first season.

(Zach Dugan/Fox)

The action-drama series was highly anticipated when it premiered to high ratings after a football doubleheader on Fox.

But even with a strong early marketing campaign and a serviceable pilot, the series could never find that sweet spot with the audience, where a renewal felt like a foregone conclusion and not more of a toss-up.

They had all the ingredients for a successful show...

‘The Boys’ Composers Talk Pushing The Envelope For An Envelope-Pushing Show – Sound & Screen TV
Image
The composers on The Boys are apparently going to have to wait a long time, if at all, for a note or two from creator Eric Kripke on how to do better.

After performing spirited pieces from the Prime Video superhero drama at Deadline’s Sound & Screen: Television event, composers Christopher Lennertz and Matt Bowen were asked if they’ve ever been scolded for going too far with their music.

“I’ve never gotten a note saying I’ve gone too far. If anything, it’s I can go farther,” Lennertz said. “Eric usually says make me give you a note, and I never seem to get that if I tried.”

(L-r) Matt Bowen and Christopher Lennertz

Lennertz reminisced about when The Boys first went into production and how he formed the “band” that would create the soundtrack for the superhero show. With Bowen as his first member, the duo...

“It Was Such a Big Responsibility”: Lauren Cohan on Her "Life-Changing" ‘Supernatural’ Experience [Exclusive]
Image
The bonds of Supernatural run deep. Like the ongoing procedural, Law & Order, the 15-season drama was a stopping point for many acclaimed actors on their rise to the top. For Adrianne Palicki, it was a speedy but recurring guest appearance just before she skyrocketed to fame in Friday Night Lights, while Sterling K. Brown got his hands dirty with the Winchester brothers before Army Wives, which led him on the path towards This Is Us. Double-dipping into the Supernatural universe, not only did Lauren Cohan enjoy a guest-starring role as a complex villain, but she went on to star with fellow Supernatural alum, Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Walking Dead and its hit spin-off, The Walking Dead: Dead City, the latter of which having just debuted its second season.

The behind-the-scenes world of Supernatural has a lore of its own, with plenty of fans waiting for further updates about the reunion brewing between its creator,...

More info on the Supernatural reunion coming in The Boys season 5
Image
The fifth and final season of The Boys is on the way. We'll see the return of main characters like Homelander and Billy Butcher, but also side characters like Soldier Boy, Homelander's father (basically) and the "original" superhero, played by Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles. Solder Boy already featured in the third season but was put on ice after that. Not for long.

The Boys was created by Eric Kripke, who also worked on Supernatural, which explains why he might have had Ackles on tap for the role. For season 5, he's bringing back a couple other Supernatural alums: Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Together, those three comprised the main trio of the show, at least in its later years, with Ackles and Padalecki playing demon-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester and Collins playing the angel Castiel.

We've known that for a minute. Speaking recently to TV Insider, Kripke revealed some new details.

15 Best TV Shows Like Supernatural
Image
When we first met Sam and Dean Winchester on "Supernatural," they were just a pair of estranged brothers with a whole host of daddy issues attempting to track down their missing father (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). They -- and we -- never could have imagined the journey that the Winchesters would go on over the course of the show's astonishing 15 seasons. From their humble origins as hunters to becoming pawns in a larger battle between God and the Devil, the best "Supernatural" episodes saw these two boys put through the gamut.

With such a long series run, "Supernatural" was able to embrace every facet of the genre, including goofier and increasingly meta storylines right around the show's 10th season. "Supernatural" was beloved by its fans, as evinced by thousands of pages of fan fiction produced and the enthusiastic response to its stars' appearances at conventions. If you're still mourning its loss,...

No Supernatural Fan Would Mind Season 16 Focusing on Dean’s Daughter Taking Over the Winchester Legacy
Image
Supernatural has been a pretty bizarre show from time to time, bringing about a slew of twists that were unlike anything that was on television at the time. One of these times was when Dean Winchester had a daughter, as a consequence of one of his many one-night stands. While not the first time that the character has dabbled in possible fatherhood, the show’s seventh season did give Dean a child, one who tried to kill him.

Dean’s only confirmed daughter, Emma, was the result of Dean’s union with the Amazon, Lydia, and served as an antagonist for one episode in the seventh season of Supernatural. While the character did end up dying, it’s not like people have not come back from the dead in the show, which makes her a great candidate to continue the Winchester legacy.

Dean has at least two candidates who could...

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki Will Reunite With Misha Collins But Not in a Supernatural Spin-Off

The Boys Season 5’s Supernatural Reunion Gets Exciting Update From Eric Kripke
Image
Eric Kripke provides an exciting update on the highly anticipated Supernatural reunion that will take place in The Boys season 5. Kripke, who is the showrunner of Supernatural and The Boys, previously reunited with Jensen Ackles, who made his debut as Soldier Boy in season 3 of the Prime Video show. While speaking with TV Insider, Kripke revealed that the scenes featuring the three Supernatural stars have already been shot. The Boys Creator Confirms Fans' Hopes About Season 5's Major Supernatural Reunion
Image
The Boys Season 5 will up its game when it comes to Supernatural actors. Both shows come from creator Eric Kripke, and it would finally lead to a major reunion.

Throughout its first four seasons, several actors from Supernatural made their way over to The Boys, whether as cameos, guest stars, or recurring characters. In Season 3, Jensen Ackles joined the series as the villainous Soldier Boy. With The Boys confirmed to end with the upcoming Season 5, Kripke confirmed to TV Insider that the final season will come with a major Supernatural reunion.

There have been talks about Padalecki to make an appearance since last year, but Jensen Ackles officially confirmed that Season 5 would feature not only his on-screen brother from Supernatural but fan-favorite Misha Collins, too, who played Castiel in the long-running fantasy horror series. They made the announcement in a viral post in late February.

Eric Kripke Drops a Spectacular Update on ‘The Boys’ Season 5's ‘Supernatural’ Reunion
Image
In Toronto, the reunion Supernatural fans have been waiting for since 2020 has officially come and gone. Speaking with TV Insider, The Boys and Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke, revealed that perhaps the most anticipated episode of the upcoming final season has already been filmed. Alec Baldwin's Controversial Film Gets More Bad News at Box Office After Leaving Critics Unimpressed
Image
This weekend’s box office saw Thunderbolts*easily take the No. 1 spot with $76 million from 4,330 theaters. However, it was another story for Rust, the problematic film from actor and writer Alec Baldwin. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Rust, directed and co-written by Joel Souza, took in $25,000 in its debut weekend in limited release. The film had a budget of around $8 million.

The $25,000 total comes from just 115 theaters after the movie was finally released four years after its star, Baldwin, accidentally discharged a weapon on set that killed the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, and wounded Souza. Baldwin thought the weapon contained only blanks, but the chamber contained a live round of ammunition.

The Lawsuit was Ultimately Settled

A lawsuit followed the events, with Hutchins’ family settling and all charges being dropped against Baldwin. Baldwin paid a settlement to the cinematographer’s family, and Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, was made an executive producer on the film.

Former Chicago Fire showrunner unveils their new series (and it looks fantastic)
Image
There would be One Chicago franchise without Chicago Fire, and there would be no Chicago Fire without Derek Haas. The talented writer and producer co-created Fire, and has now moved on to another compelling procedural drama. This time, however, there's a twist.

Haas' new series is titled Countdown, and it revolves around LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles). The detective is recruited by a secret task force to investigate the death of a Department of Homeland Security officer. The twist? The crime is not as straightforward as it initially seems.

'[Sam] and Ruby Smoothed Things Over': Supernatural's Jared Padalecki Celebrates Sam Winchester's Birthday With Sweet Family Photo
Image
Supernatural star Jared Padalecki has always spoken about the fantasy horror series with enthusiasm and acknowledged the impact the long-running series has on his life and career. Similar to previous years, the actor also paid his character, Sam Winchester, a tribute on his birthday.

Jared Padalecki was 23 years old when Season 1 premiered in 2005 and was 38 when the final season aired in 2020. Similar to one of the most iconic Supernatural quotes, the show did end up being a family business, not just because the cast and crew evolved together, but because many found their significant others on the show, including Padalecki. In his latest tribute on Instagram, the actor celebrated with his wife, Genevieve Padalecki, whom he met on the set of Supernatural, and their children.

It Took ‘Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles to Bless This ‘Days of Our Lives’ Recast, but We’re Still Not Over It
Image
Jensen Ackles is best known for playing Dean Winchester in Supernatural and was most recently seen as Soldier Boy in The Boys. While these are great roles for the star, his breakthrough came with the soap opera Days of Our Lives. The longest-running soap opera saw Ackles play the first adult iteration of Eric Brady, the son of Roman and Marlena Brady.

Ackles was in the show for three years and was extremely popular as a heartthrob. Before him, the character was played by multiple child actors. Twelve years after he left the show, Greg Vaughan was cast in the role in 2012, with some tough shoes to fill. However, the former model revealed that Ackles gave his blessing to Vaughan.

'Rust' Stars Comment on the Polarizing Film Release and Honoring Halyna Hutchins
Image
The cast of the controversial Western film Rust has commented on the film's release after a difficult process to complete production after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed on set in October 2021. In 2023, production resumed, and while some returned to finish their scenes, others had to be replaced. Among the new stars were Patrick Scott McDermott and Josh Hopkins, who replaced Brady Noon and Jensen Ackles, respectively, due to scheduling reasons. It was McDermott and Hopkins who shared their comments on completing the Alec Baldwin movie, which is now in cinemas.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the actors opened up about finishing and releasing what's already a controversial movie. Even though Hutchins' family settled with production, and they're set to receive the film's eventual profits, the project has been met with divisive reactions from the public. Baldwin, as the actor who was manipulating the pistol containing a...

Alec Baldwin's Controversial Western 'Rust' Gets Middling Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
It's no secret that Rust is one of the most controversial projects to get completed in recent memory due to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. However, despite that fact, critics have weighed in on the final product, and it seems to be a heavily divisive entry in the Western genre. It's hard to separate the behind-the-scenes tragedy from what is on-screen, but thankfully, it seems Hutchins' work is getting the bulk of the praise despite mixed reviews.

As of this writing, Rust debuted with a 50% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes based on 20 reviews, which gives it a rotten label. The middling score is reflective of the deeply controversial nature of the film and everything surrounding it. Some critics were quick to point out the film's "bare-bones" plot, while others were impressed by the film's grim visual aesthetic. Meanwhile, MovieWeb's own review by Julian Roman praised Rust as...
