When it comes to showrunners, Eric Kripke is one of the most consistent. You know what to expect, and if you don’t, then you haven’t seen enough of his content. He’s a lover of urban myths, history, and downright absurdity, and he’s also a man who likes to create something timely and timeless all at the same time.

The majority of people will know Kripke for his CW series Supernatural, but he has worked on many other shows and movies before that. Since his Supernatural days, he’s become a creator to watch out for, but that doesn’t mean everything he’s made is something you need to watch right now. Although I’ll admit that it was hard to put a show to skip on this list.

Supernatural has always been a top choice when you want to watch something that has both heart and horror. Whether it’s Sam and Dean’s brotherly shenanigans, insane monsters, or jaw-dropping cameos (remember when Scooby Doo and gang showed up?), the show has maintained its fanbase throughout the decades.

And I know, finding logic in a show that’s all about the supernatural – quite literally – might seem like nitpicking. However, if we are talking about the flaws of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki-starrer, let’s start with how Bobby Singer’s house was always around the corner and how Dean’s Impala stood strong despite the miles on it.

Fifteen seasons. Two networks. One apocalypse. And the ever-evolving mystery of Jared Padalecki’s hair. Supernatural finally hung up its salt and holy water in November 2020 after 327 monster-hunting, demon-slaying, emotionally devastating episodes. It survived The WB turning into The CW, a revolving door of showrunners after Kripke stepped down post-Season 5, and even a real-world pandemic.

It was phenomenal, but not every season hit the mark. Season 12 was a bit of a cursed object, but through angels, leviathans, time travel, and even Scooby-Doo, the Winchester boys kept things entertaining. Even with its ups and downs, Supernatural stuck around not just because of its fanbase, but because it never lost its charm or its knack for not taking itself too seriously.

The fifth and final season of The Boys is on the way. We'll see the return of main characters like Homelander and Billy Butcher, but also side characters like Soldier Boy, Homelander's father (basically) and the "original" superhero, played by Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles. Solder Boy already featured in the third season but was put on ice after that. Not for long.

The Boys was created by Eric Kripke, who also worked on Supernatural, which explains why he might have had Ackles on tap for the role. For season 5, he's bringing back a couple other Supernatural alums: Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Together, those three comprised the main trio of the show, at least in its later years, with Ackles and Padalecki playing demon-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester and Collins playing the angel Castiel.

Supernatural has been a pretty bizarre show from time to time, bringing about a slew of twists that were unlike anything that was on television at the time. One of these times was when Dean Winchester had a daughter, as a consequence of one of his many one-night stands. CBS released a sneak peek of the season finale, which previews the state of affairs under which Colter makes his homecoming.

In Toronto, the reunion Supernatural fans have been waiting for since 2020 has officially come and gone. Speaking with TV Insider, The Boys and Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke, revealed that perhaps the most anticipated episode of the upcoming final season has already been filmed. But there’s even better intel than that today, with Kripke sharing perhaps the most exciting update of all — Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins will be featured in the same scene together, just like old times.

Catching fans up on what to expect, Kripke said,

This weekend’s box office saw Thunderbolts*easily take the No. 1 spot with $76 million from 4,330 theaters. However, it was another story for Rust, the problematic film from actor and writer Alec Baldwin. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Rust, directed and co-written by Joel Souza, took in $25,000 in its debut weekend in limited release. The film had a budget of around $8 million.

The $25,000 total comes from just 115 theaters after the movie was finally released four years after its star, Baldwin, accidentally discharged a weapon on set that killed the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, and wounded Souza. Baldwin thought the weapon contained only blanks, but the chamber contained a live round of ammunition.

The Lawsuit was Ultimately Settled

A lawsuit followed the events, with Hutchins’ family settling and all charges being dropped against Baldwin. Baldwin paid a settlement to the cinematographer’s family, and Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, was made an executive producer on the film.

There would be One Chicago franchise without Chicago Fire, and there would be no Chicago Fire without Derek Haas. The talented writer and producer co-created Fire, and has now moved on to another compelling procedural drama. This time, however, there's a twist.

Haas' new series is titled Countdown, and it revolves around LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles). The detective is recruited by a secret task force to investigate the death of a Department of Homeland Security officer. The twist? The crime is not as straightforward as it initially seems.

The countdown to Jensen Ackles’s new crime series, Countdown, is on. Expect the show to stream its way to viewers this summer. Prime Video announced when the action-packed series will drop and released some first-look images.
