As a result of his car accident, his nose was reconstructed with the assistance of four screws and his left eye-socket with titanium.

He is also a painter, sculptor, and photographer who currently shows his artwork in galleries in New York, Berlin, and Frankfurt.

In 2010, Reedus took on the role of Daryl Dixon in the AMC television series The Walking Dead (2010). The character was not originally in the comic book series of the same name, but was created specifically for Reedus after his audition for the character Merle Dixon.

Resided for a time in London and Japan. Before getting his first acting role, he was earning $7.50 an hour working in a Venice, California motorcycle shop.

Was in a car accident in late February 2005 in Berlin, Germany, when after attending a R.E.M. concert, his driver swerved into traffic suddenly at the wrong moment, and a semi-truck struck the car in which he was riding. He was jettisoned through the windshield and landed on the sidewalk, receiving some damage to the left side of his face, for which he had to undergo surgery.

Norman currently resides in New York with his son, Mingus Reedus.

In Los Angeles, he worked at a Harley Davidson shop in Venice and contributed artwork to various shows as a painter, photographer, sculptor, and video artist.

Has several tattoos: his father's name on the left side of his chest, a simple heart on the center of his chest, a devil on his upper right arm, "Mingus" in red on his right forearm, a star on his right hand, a skull on his right hand, two demons on his back, a heart on his right wrist and a snake on his left leg.

Reedus has modeled for Prada, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Durban, Levi's, Lexus and most recently Morgenthal Frederics.

Reedus was in a long-term relationship with Danish fashion model Helena Christensen from 1998 until 2003. Together they have a son, Mingus Reedus (born October 13, 1999).

Favorite movies are Mad Max (1979), Midnight Cowboy (1969) and Saturday Night Fever (1977).

His paternal grandmother was of Italian descent. His other ancestry includes English, Scotch-Irish (Northern Irish), and Scottish.

Is close friends with co-stars Melissa McBride and Andrew Lincoln.

Is good friends with his co-star Emily Kinney. He even went to visit her at a concert she was playing at in Atlanta, where he was filming The Walking Dead (2010).

He got his first taste of acting in the play "Maps for Drowners" at the Tiffany Theater on Sunset Boulevard.

Has been in a two-year relationship with Diane Kruger, Sky (2015) co-star. They welcomed their daughter Nova Tennessee in November 2018.

Norman revealed on Jon Bernthal's podcast Real Ones that his daughter Nova was born on the exact same day that their former Walking Dead co-star Scott Wilson passed away, which is why Norman was unable to attend the funeral.

He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Television at 6600 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on September 27, 2022. Greg Nicotero and Jon Bernthal were guest speakers at the ceremony.

Was cast as the lead character in a Silent Hill video game sequel called Silent Hills, in a collaboration with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. The game was canceled when Kojima left Konami.

In August 2021, Reedus has been announced his engagement to German-American actress Diane Kruger.
