The 25 Best Modern Action Movies
Image
Everyone likes a good action movie, but everyone loves a great one. The art of the action genre has evolved in the last few decades, as visual effects have shoved human on-set accomplishment to the side, and many of the biggest blockbusters are made largely in a computer. There are plenty of wonderful movies made that way, but if we’re being honest, our tastes lean more towards fights and stunts and shootouts that make our blood pump and our bodies involuntarily flinch because, dang it, that looks like it’s gotta hurt.

So, allowing for the fact that there are enough films to populate a Top 100, here are our picks for The 25 Best Modern Action Movies, from the year 2000 to today. Every year more movies push the boundaries of what the action genre is capable of, so we look forward to having to update this over the years to...

Jaime Pressly's 15 Best Movies And TV Shows
Image
The best Jaime Pressly movies and TV shows contain an interesting mix of genres but she always stands out when she gets her chance to shine. Presley started her career as a teenager when she got involved in modeling while also training as a gymnast. By the time she was 15, she dropped out of high school and moved to Japan to further her modeling career. This led to her first TV appearance, where she had an uncredited role on Baywatch, which then led to her first major breakout.

In 1997, the 20-year-old Presley was cast as the lead in Poison Ivy: The New Seduction, the third movie in the franchise that starred Drew Barrymore and Alyssa Milano before her. From there, her career started to pick up steam, although she almost found herself typecast in similar roles in movies like Joe Dirt and TV shows like My Name is Earl. Despite this,...

What Happened To The Cast Of My Name Is Earl?
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

"My Name Is Earl" is one of those sitcoms that remains beloved to a select group of fans but never really caught on in the zeitgeist in a way like "The Office" or "30 Rock" did. It had a great, heartwarming premise of the titular Earl (Jason Lee) wanting to make amends to all the people he's wronged in his troublemaking life. Earl typically hung around an eclectic group of characters to help (or hinder) him along his journey, and there was the potential for the show to make some big waves had it been allowed to continue.

Sadly, "My Name Is Earl" was canceled after four seasons due to negotiation issues between the network and the studio. It was an anticlimactic development, especially seeing as season 4 ended on a cliffhanger with the revelation that Darnell (Eddie Steeples) wasn't the father to Earl Jr.

Catherine Reitman’s Lips: Natural or Enhanced? Unveiling the Mystery

As Hannah Montana once wisely sang, “Nobody’s perfect.”

While most of us live and learn it, a select group of people love to ignore that each of us is born with imperfections and mercilessly mocks others. That’s right—internet trolls.

Catherine Reitman’s unique lips have been the subject of much speculation (Credit: Sara De Boer / Startraksphoto)

Elizabeth Olsen has twin sisters who are part of the fashion industry named Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

But Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, and Katy Perry along with other stars in the industry have witnessed the presence of their striking lookalikes in the entertainment business itself, which leads many to believe that Doppleganages might really exist.

Mia Goth and Shelley Duvall share physical similarities, leading to online petitions for Goth to play Duvall in a biopic. Margot Robbie and Jaime Pressly have similar face and nose shapes, leading to comparisons and speculation about their relation. Jeremy Allen White has been called a younger version of Gene Wilder due to their physical similarities, sparking social media discussions on their potential connection.

Britt Robertson in 'The Re-Education of Molly Singer' Comedy Trailer
Image
"We all deserve a second chance at a first impression." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for an indie college comedy titled The Re-Education of Molly Singer, made by filmmaker Andy Palmer. His entire filmography isn't impressive, which should be a sign of what to expect with this. To save her job, a young lawyer must go undercover, enrolling as a freshman at her old alma mater, in order to resuscitate the well being of her Boss' terribly awkward teenage son. Molly goes to battle with stuck-up hall monitors, boozed-up frat brothers, and her old archenemy in a hilarious quest through the past to save her future. The comedy stars Jaime Pressly as Brenda, Ty Simpkins as Elliot, Britt Robertson as Molly Singer, Nico Santos, Cierra Ramirez, Jonathan Lipnicki, and Wendie Malick. This sounds like the copy cat junk version of Jennifer Lawrence's No Hard Feelings, similar concept about...

Ethan Suplee Hopes My Name Is Earl Gets a Revival to Finish the Story
Image
In a world of reboots and revivals, it seems like it's a better time than ever to bring back My Name Is Earl. Originally debuting on NBC in 2005, the show was canceled in 2009 after four seasons. As creator Greg Garcia had expected the show to be renewed, the series concluded with a cliffhanger at the end of season 4, leaving multiple storylines unresolved. As the show has maintained its fanbase in subsequent years through streaming, there has been interest in a revival, and series star Jason Lee teased in 2020 that he was hoping to see the show revived as "at least like, even a little three-part series."

In a new interview with ScreenRant to promote his new film God Is a Bullet, Lee's co-star Ethan Suplee addressed the chances of My Name Is Earl getting revived. He revealed that Garcia had in fact been pitching the possible revival to different studios,...

Australia’s Stan Renews Lionsgate Content Supply Deal
Image
Stan, the Australian streaming service owned by Nine Entertainment, has renewed its content supply partnership with Lionsgate. The multi-year output agreement secures a slate of first-run premium scripted dramas from Starz and Lionsgate and a new slate of theatrical films exclusive to Australian audiences.

The agreement follows Stan’s renewal last year of a deal with Sony Pictures Television.

Headlining the new shows expected to flow from the Lionsgate deal is espionage drama “Gray,” starring Patricia Clarkson (“Six Feet Under”), Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”) and Rupert Everett (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”) which is based on an original concept by bestselling novelist David Baldacci.

Other premium dramas coming soon to Stan from Lionsgate and Starz will include: a sequel series based on the groundbreaking hit “Spartacus,” currently in development from creator Steven S. DeKnight; “Welcome to Flatch,” a mockumentary series following a group of young adults in a small American town,...

That The Conners Cameo Is Integral To Becky’s Story For Season 6
Image
While The Conners season 6 needs to focus on Becky’s story going forward, bringing back one season 5 guest star could facilitate this character development. The Conners does not indulge in too many big-name celebrity cameos. As a grounded sitcom about a working-class family, The Conners doesn’t give many opportunities for its heroes to stumble across A-list stars in person. When celebrities do appear on The Conners they usually play original characters, much like guest stars did on the show’s predecessor Roseanne. In The Conners season 5, William H Macy and Sean Astin were among the guest stars whose cameos saw them play new characters.

While The Conners season 5 wasted some cameos, this could not be said for Astin’s appearance as the kindly pilot Tyler. In The Conners season 5, episode 20, "What's So Funny About Peas, Love, and Understanding?” Tyler bonded with Becky over their shared singlehood, and the pair...

My Name Is Earl: Who Plays Joy (& Where You Know Her From)
Image
Joy is one of the funniest characters on My Name is Earl, and she’s played by a familiar actress with an impressive filmography. My Name is Earl revolves around Earl Hickey, a small-time crook who renounces his life of crime, writes down a list of all his wrongdoings, and sets out to make amends after he’s introduced to the concept of karma. Joy is Earl’s ex-wife who left him to marry Darnell, the busboy at the Crab Shack. In spite of Joy’s dismissive attitude towards Earl (and her tendency to call him “dummy”) they remained close friends – Earl even took the fall for Joy’s crimes.

In stark contrast with Earl’s mission to do good and Darnell’s kind nature, Joy is bad-tempered, ill-mannered, and obnoxious. Joy does have a deep capacity for love, seen in the care and affection she has for her two sons,...

‘Krapopolis’ Preview Delayed; ‘Welcome To Flatch’ Will Now Air Nov. 27 After NFL Doubleheader
Image
A plan to preview Dan Harmon’s new animated comedy Krapopolis on Nov. 27 has been delayed.

The single-cam Welcome to Flatch will now air immediately following the NFL doubleheader. Fox says the Krapopolis preview will be rescheduled to a later date, closer to its planned series premiere.

Fox has already given Krapopolis a second season renewal. The original plan was to give viewers a look-see this month ahead of its full season launch in 2023. Krapopolis is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters that try their hand at running the world’s first cities – without trying to kill each other, that is. It features the voices of Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell.

Created and exec produced by Rick and Morty co-creator Harmon, the series is Fox Entertainment’s first wholly own animated series...

The Best TV Shows And Movies Coming To Hulu And Disney+ In November 2022
Image
As we all mourn the end of the Halloween season and brace ourselves for the seemingly unending parade of holidays based on familial obligations or gross displays of capitalism, November is here to serve as a little respite. Many of the horror movies that disappeared off streaming platforms to try and snag some extra Halloween funds in October are returning to their respective platforms, but the trickling in of cheesy Christmas fare is also coming in fast.

Fortunately, there's a massive amount of old favorites and exciting new titles trying to beat the holiday havoc, and we've got five between Hulu and Disney+ that you would be wise to check out. Action? Teen movies? Horror comedies? Musicals? Weirdly bleak arthouse film with surprising brutality? November has it all, baby.

Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

Before Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont would go on to make "Josie and the Pussycats" (the best movie...

‘Welcome to Flatch’: Jaime Pressly Previews Her Larger-Than-Life Season 2 Role (Video)
Jaime Pressly at an event for The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards (2009)
They say you can’t go home again. But the mockumentary Welcome to Flatch’s larger-than-life newcomer Barb Flatch is sure gonna try. In the Season 2 opener, she makes a big return to the Ohio town where her family has ancestral roots. (Credit: Brownie Harris/Fox) “Barb’s a lot,” the actress notes. “She’s positive all the time but also very hurt.” After 20 years in Pompano Beach, Florida, with her husband/business partner, Barb is en route to a divorce and eager to “glow up” Flatch with her own successful real estate firm. (She’ll enlist Holmes’ eccentric Kelly Mallet.) “She’s determined to have a How Stella Got Her Groove Back situation,” Pressly adds. Her tools: margaritas and her cherished wig ...

Emmy nominee profile: Juno Temple (‘Ted Lasso’) looks to score first win on her second shot
Image
One year after losing the Best Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy to her “Ted Lasso” castmate Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple has now earned an immediate second shot at the gold. If she triumphs this time, “Ted Lasso” will become the fifth series to produce multiple winners in the category after “Caesar’s Hour” (Nanette Fabray and Pat Carroll), “Bewitched” (Alice Pearce and Marion Lorne), “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Cheers” (Rhea Perlman and Bebe Neuwirth).

Temple has played model-turned-pr consultant Keeley Jones since “Ted Lasso” first premiered in August 2020. Her episode submission, “Midnight Train to Royston,” serves as the penultimate chapter of the Apple TV+ show’s sophomore season. In the installment, Keeley prepares for a Vanity Fair photoshoot by shopping for new outfits with Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed). Partway through the errand, she graciously rebuffs an impulsive kiss from Nate, who harbors feelings for her despite the fact that she is dating his coworker,...

So You Think You Can Dance Finale: Did the Right Dancer Win Season 17?
Image
For nearly three years, it seemed unlikely that So You Think You Can Dance would ever return — and once it did, the show arguably wasn’t the same.

The early weeks of Season 17 blew through audition and choreography rounds at a breakneck pace. The performance shows were pre-taped instead of live, and the only voters with any agency in weekly eliminations were those in the studio audience. And, of course, the season’s biggest headline was Matthew Morrison’s abrupt exit as judge, with Leah Remini (?!) stepping in as his replacement.

Jaime Pressly Joins ‘Welcome To Flatch’ As Series Regular For Season 2 Of Fox Comedy
Image
Emmy winner Jaime Pressly (Mom) has joined the cast of Fox’s comedy series Welcome To Flatch as a series regular for its upcoming second season. She will play a new character named Barb Flatch.

Pressly’s casting stems from the Season 2 pitch by showrunner Jenny Bicks for a major new character to be played by a big-name talent who would join Welcome To Flatch‘s established star, Seann William Scott, as well as the series’ up-and-coming cast. That pitch, along with a restructuring of lead studio Lionsgate TV’s original deal for the show, clinched Welcome To Flatch a Season 2 renewal despite modest linear ratings.

Barb Flatch (Pressly) grew up a Flatch, in Flatch. She has returned to her hometown after a bad divorce to start a new chapter as the town’s realtor. She believes in second chances and wants to give Flatch the glow up it deserves,...

‘Ted Lasso’: Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple would be 13th duo to score multiple Emmy nominations in category
Image
“Ted Lasso’s” Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple could join an elite club if they both manage to repeat getting nominated for Best Comedy Supporting Actress this year. The Apple TV Plus featured players would become the 13th duo to score multiple Emmy nominations in that category at the same time. Waddingham, the category’s reigning Emmy champ, plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, while Temple, who earned a bid last year, takes on the role of marketing manager Keeley Jones.

The first show to give us this kind of combination was “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and it gave us two different pairs. From 1971 to 1974, both Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman were nominated. Harper claimed the award the first three times while Leachman got hers in 1974. Later in the show’s run, Betty White and Georgia Engel both scored back-to-back noms in 1976 and 1977. White won in 1976 but both would...
