Could it actually be happening? Highlander, starring Henry Cavill, is finally set to go before cameras this coming autumn. We think.
Well, blimey. Considering the time-spanning nature of the Highlander franchise, perhaps it’s appropriate it’s taken so long to get a planned remake off the ground. I was a year into starting Den Of Geek I think, all the way back in 2008, when I first wrote something about a planned new movie. The idea then was to do a remake or reimagining of sorts, and over the course of nearly two decades, a procession of people have come and come. I’m old enough to remember when Vinnie Jones was in the running, and when Ryan Reynolds was reportedly cast.
More recently, John Wick director Chad Stahelski had been committed to the film, but then he was dragged into surgery on the upcoming Ballerina movie. That delayed the new Highlander,...

Plenty of A-listers have gotten their start in the world of horror, from Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th to Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun. But did you know that Bradley Cooper also starred in a horror film early in his acting career? He plays the lead role in Ryûhei Kitamura’s 2008 film Midnight Meat Train, an adaptation of Clive Barker’s 1984 short story of the same name.
In the film,
A struggling photographer meets the owner of an eminent art gallery in pursuit of a successful career. His obsession with uncovering humanity’s dark side as his debut project draws him to a serial killer who preys on late-night subway commuters.
Cooper plays that struggling photographer who quite literally goes into the belly of the beast searching for a new subject to impress his rich benefactor. I promise you have no idea where this film is going, and it is one wild ride.

Fans have been left waiting for any updates about the second season of Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen. And while we now have a promising update, it could mean fans will be left waiting even longer before returning to this caper about an aristocrat and his drug empire.
As per a report by Screen Global Production, The Gentlemen Season 2 has only just started filming, with the Netflix production returning to the United Kingdom for the follow-up. Much like its predecessor, the second season will consist of eight episodes but, while the series was officially renewed back in August last year, it has taken a while before getting it in front of cameras. Meaning audiences are likely looking at a 2026 release date.
Landing on Netflix in March 2024, The Gentlemen is a spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 crime comedy of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding,...

When you think of Jason Statham, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? If it’s a fit bald dude beating the shit out of a nameless goon, good. That means we’re on the same page. Range is not Jason Statham’s forte, nor would we expect his characters to be able to spell “forte”. But the man has marked himself as maybe The action star in modern movies. And that’s good enough for us and his millions of fans. As Frank Martin said in The Transporter: Never change the deal.
Jason Statham was born on July 26th, 1967 in Shirebrook, England. A natural and gifted athlete, Statham was competing in everything from football to diving (he would later be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame). Then came modelling because, well, look at that jawline!
But it was the screen he was destined for.

‘A Working Man’s Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Lands Inside the Top Five for Jason Statham’s Career

A Working Man is now playing in theaters everywhere, but how does it stack up to other films in Jason Statham’s filmography? That depends on whom you ask. A Working Man earned a “rotten” 51% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but general audiences have given the film a “verified hot” 89%. This 89% score is enough to land in the top five for all Jason Statham’s movies, sitting at #5 at the time of writing, barely ahead of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw at 88% but behind Wrath of Man, which earned a 90%. A Working Man was directed by David Ayer, who worked with Statham prior on The Beekeeper, which earned a 92% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, the third-highest of Statham’s career.
Ironically enough, the two highest-rated projects of Jason Statham’s career, according to audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, are also the two first movies he ever starred in.

From “Aladdin” to “Fountain of Youth,” Guy Ritchie has spread his wings in recent years and traveled far and wide to build fantasy worlds for the audiences to lose themselves in. The British director returns to his London street-level crime drama roots as he teams up with “Top Boy” writer Ronan Bennett for “MobLand.”
The Tom Hardy-led series follows Harry de Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family, who is put in the middle of a dangerous situation when the son of rival crime boss Ritchie Stevenson goes missing — last seen alive with the grandson of the Harrigan crime boss. Tensions rise between the two families as it eventually bubbles and “war” is threatened.

The Netflix limited series Adolescencehas been nothing short of a sensation, earning rapturous reviews and sitting at the top of the streamer's top ten since its release. At a time when many streaming properties struggle to break through, Adolescence has managed to command attention for its visceral performances, technical virtuosity, and distressingly timely subject matter.
While everyone on the series gives it their all, it serves as an ideal showcase for the many talents of its co-creator and star, Stephen Graham. As Eddie, the father of 13-year-old suspected murderer Jamie, Graham radiates genuine love for his son along with deep anger and guilt in the wake of the allegations against him. It's a masterful performance that marks one of Graham's most visible projects to US audiences, but it's really just the latest in a long line of stellar work stretching back over three decades. Is there any contemporary actor more iconic than Nicolas Cage? Instantly identifiable and beloved by both mainstream audiences and cult aficionados, it’s hard to believe that there was a time when Nicolas Cage wasn’t considered a bankable leading man. While movies like Raising Arizona and Moonstruck established him as a quirky lead, in 1990, he made an action movie called Fire Birds, which was like Top Gun with helicopters and whiffed at the box office. He had a solid hit as a romantic lead in Honeymoon in Vegas. However, in 1995, the same year he delivered an Academy Award-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas, he was still considered so minor of a star that David Caruso took top billing over him in their remake of Kiss of Death – which – by the way – was another flop. However, that all changed when uber producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer decided Cage had potential as an action hero,...

He didn't have a lead role in Gone in 60 Seconds, but Timothy Olyphant was front and center for a good portion of the movie. The action heist movie from 2000 was a loose remake of the 1974 flick of the same name and starred Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, Robert Duvall, and a diverse ensemble cast.
Cage played Randal "Memphis" Raines, a reformed car thief who gets pulled back an auto-theft ring to save his brother, Kip (Ribisi), after he was kidnapped. Though controversial figures like Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor and organizations like the UFC have turned mixed martial arts into one of the most popular sports in the world, that popularity has failed to translate to the world of cinema. "Rocky" and "Raging Bull" showed what full-contact competitive fighting sports could uniquely bring to the sports subgenre, and the continued success of the "Creed" series proves that the appetite from audiences for this sort of film persists despite the Marvel-ification of the movie theater.

Theo James is the talk of the town at the moment for his new comedy-horror The Monkey, but he's also got The Gentlemen fans buzzing with his latest season 2 tease. In a new interview, the actor hinted that the upcoming season will take a darker turn while also sharing an exciting update on when filming is set to begin. While major details are still under wraps, James' comments have only fueled anticipation for what’s next in the gritty, high-stakes world of the hit Netflix series.
The crime drama series premiered on Netflix in March 2024 and was an instant hit. Due to the success of the first season, Netflix went ahead and renewed the show for a second season in August 2024. At the time of its renewal, it was revealed that the second installment would see the return of James as Eddie, Kaya Scodelario as Susie, and Daniel Ings as Freddy.

The crime drama The Gentlemen, which became a hit when it premiered last year on Netflix, has left fans eagerly awaiting its next season. In August 2024, Netflix renewed the series for a second installment, and viewers are excited to see what’s in store for their favorite characters. But unfortunately, it doesn't look like the crime drama series will be returning for its second season this year. The Gentlemen was noticeably absent from Netflix's 2025 lineup, leading many to believe that its second season won't be released until 2026.
Given that the crime drama was renewed in mid-2024, it initially seemed like there would be plenty of time for the filmmaking process for The Gentlemen season 2 to make a 2025 release. However, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Production on The Gentlemen season 2 is reportedly set to start sometime in April this year and is expected to last for about four to eight months.

Is there anyone as disappointed in their adaptations as master of horror Clive Barker? Okay, part time Wizard and full-time curmudgeon Alan Moore is probably the most upset at his work being adapted but Clive is a close second. The sad part is that while he has had fewer of his novels or short stories adapted than someone like Stephen King, he has played a part in more of them and been let down more often than not. He also didn’t have a great beginning with film as his first screenplay Transmutations or Underworld he ended up hating. He first adapted his own work with Rawhead Rex in 1986 and hated the end product there too. Other than 1987’s Hellraiser which he wrote and directed, there hasn’t been something that he was disappointed in or was butchered by the studio and he has become a bit jaded. His films...

Max's new medical drama, The Pitt, released its first two episodes and already, it did one small thing that has made me love it so much. The Pitt's cast of characters is led by Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, the head of the emergency department of the fictional Pittsburgh trauma hospital Ptmc. With each episode of The Pitt's 15 episodes following an hour in one 15-hour shift of Dr. Robby's life, the real-time format of the medical drama amps up the intensity.
With that intensity, I expected thatThe Pitt, which is being compared to a grittier ER, would manufacture unrealistic drama for the sake of the story. It's what most medical dramas do, often sacrificing medical realism and accuracy for the sake of dramatic stakes. While The Pitt may certainly fall into that trap in its first season, there was one brief exchange that showed me it was...

Quick Links Juggernaut and Professor X Have a Deep Rivalry Juggernaut Has Mystical Origins The MCU Can Make Juggernaut More Compelling
With the Infinity Saga having come and gone and the Multiverse Saga approaching its end in Avengers: Secret Wars, the X-Men and their rogues' gallery will most likely be a major focus of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in coming years. The McU's take on the Mutants will inevitably be compared to those who appeared in 20th Century Fox's long-running X-Men film series. Some portrayals, like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, will be tough acts to follow, but the MCU also has the chance to improve characters who were let down by their previous live-action appearances. One such character is Juggernaut, who has appeared in a total of three films so far. He made his big-screen debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, in which he was portrayed by British actor Vinnie Jones.

In 2022, James Clayton directed Bullet Proof, his first feature film which, unfortunately, was met with more than a few unkind words from critics. Starring Clayton as The Thief, the movie also featured the talents of Vinnie Jones, Lina Lecompte, and Philip Granger, who all banded together to create what this writer believes is a fun, action-packed adventure, despite what the detractors say. Now, two years later, it seems a lot of people agree, as the film has risen to the top of the global charts over on Paramount+.
Per FlixPatrol, Bullet Proof has taken the top spot on the streaming service in 18 countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela, to name a few. The plot revolves around Clayton’s character pulling off the heist of a lifetime when he robs the psychotic drug lord, Temple (Jones), only to discover a stowaway in his getaway car – Temple's pregnant wife, Mia (Lecompte...

Jason Statham has starred in two remakes of classic Burt Reynolds movies; one of those remakes fell short of the original, but the other actually surpassed its predecessor. Statham is one of the only remaining old-school movie stars in Hollywood. He has the smoldering charisma of Reynolds, the authentic hard-as-nails badassery of Charles Bronson, and the unabashed coolness of Paul Newman. He’s one of the only actors who can still turn an original story like The Beekeeper into a blockbuster hit at the box office.
But that doesn’t mean all his movies are originals. Statham has headlined his share of franchises, from The Meg to The Transporter to The Expendables, and he’s also joined the ensemble of other stars’ franchises to give them a much-needed shot in the arm, like Fast & Furious. Statham has expressed an interest in joining the James Bond series, he’s made...

Though Jason Statham is one of his generations most recognizable action stars, an action film is only as good as its antagonist, and Mutiny just landed theirs. Roland Mller will be the man facing off against Statham, as he attempts to uncover an international conspiracy.
Per Deadline, Mller will be starring opposite Statham and Annabelle Wallis in Lionsgates latest project. Wallis is best known for her role in The Mummy as well as her character on Peaky Blinders. Statham, of course, has made his name in the action genre. Mller, for his part, has appeared in high profile films like Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron, as well as the spy action television series Citadel with Game of Thrones' Richard Madden; he also won the Bodil Award for Best Actor for 2015's Land of Mine. Quick Links What Is 'Mean Machine' About? Why Did Critics Hate 'Mean Machine'? What Are Roger Ebert's Thoughts on 'Mean Machine'?
Jason Statham is no stranger to the action genre and, at present, is one of the most recognized names in action cinema. Having made his film debut in 1998 with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, the actor has since starred in numerous projects, including The Transporter films, the Fast and Furious movies, and The Meg installments. However, one of Statham's lesser-known works includes 2001's Mean Machine.
Directed by Barry Skolnick and produced by Matthew Vaughn, Mean Machine is a sports comedy crime film starring former football player Vinnie Jones. The film made its debut in the UK on December 26, 2001. However, the work, an adaptation of the American film The Longest Yard (1974), was not received well by viewers or critics. At the time of writing, it sits with a dismal 33% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

In a similar way to other greats of directing, Guy Ritchie has developed various signature details that give a clear indication that the film is his. Richie's first feature film came with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. His debut attracted a number of fans, who weren't let down by his second film, Snatch.
Ritchie's filmography has gone on to span Disney remakes, gangster films and interpretations of literary classics. Whilst there's a noticeable range of genres, he's managed to put his stamp on everyone. Some of his trademarks are subtle, but it's easy to spot a Ritchie creation from the moment the opening credits roll.

Jason Statham remade not one, but two movies by Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds - it's just a shame their only collaboration sucked so much. Despite making his name in Guy Ritchie gangster comedies, Statham soon made a dramatic gear shift in his career. The Jason Statham action movie era began in earnest with 2001's Ghosts of Mars, but it was The Transporter that proved his big breakthrough. Like any leading man, he has had his peaks and valleys, but the box office success of The Beekeeper proves Statham is still on top of his game.
He has remade several cult classics in the action genre too. Statham fronted the remake of Charle Bronson's The Mechanic and played the lead in the reboot of the Death Race franchise. Sometimes your first work is your best. It might sound insulting it shouldn't, though, and doesn't mean each subsequent project isn't worthwhile. Many great musicians, authors, and filmmakers explode right out of the gate, having captured lightning in a bottle; it happens most often with bands, but it can also happen with actors. I'd argue that this is the case with Jason Statham, and quickly follow that assertion with the caveat that the actor has had many great movies and performances since then. But something special happened at the end of the 20th century with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
While there have been many imitators of Quentin Tarantino who have injected MTV maximalism into their aesthetic, Guy Ritchie arguably reigns as the best. The filmmaker utilized similar non-linear writing, excessive use of popular music and slow-motion, blasts of violence tempered by unexpected humor, large ensembles with few if any 'good guys,...

Deadpool & Wolverine featured a mishmash of exciting Marvel cameos, but it could not convince an X-Men: First Class actor to reprise his villain role in the MCU sequel. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman lead a multiverse extravaganza, including the return of fan-favorite characters like Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, and the on-screen debut of Channing Tatum as Gambit. However, some original actors did not make the cut. Jason Flemyng, who portrayed Azazel in X-Men: First Class, rejected Marvel Studios' offer to return in Deadpool & Wolverine.
During an interview with Comicbookmovie.com for his next film The Stoic, Flemyng revealed that, like many other actors from the former Marvel-Fox universe, he received an offer to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. His role in First Class as Azazel was as the secondary villain to Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw. In the comics, he was the father of Nightcrawler, even though that wasn't addressed in the film franchise.

After working with filmmaker Matthew Vaughn on several movies - including Layer Cake and Kick-Ass - Jason Flemyng boarded the cast of 2011's X-Men: First Class as the villainous Azazel.
Vaughn seemingly had big plans for the character, only for Bryan Singer's return to the franchise with X-Men: Days of Future Past to result in Magneto's original Brotherhood being killed off-screen. Nightcrawler's father got a second chance in Deadpool & Wolverine as one of The Void's Variants, but he was played by stuntman Eduardo Gago Munoz in place of Flemyng.
X-Men: The Last Stand star Vinnie Jones previously revealed that he turned down the chance to return as Juggernaut due to the hassle of donning the costume for such a minor role, and it was a similar situation for Flemyng.

Jason Statham has been a staple in Hollywood for the better part of 25 years, but one of his first movies with a star-studded ensemble is a major streaming hit. Statham stars alongside Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro in Snatch, the 2000 caper crime thriller that's streaming on both Hulu and Prime Video. The film follows boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent robbers, and jewelers who are all forced to work together in their search for a priceless stolen diamond. It grossed more than $85 million worldwide on an estimated budget of between $6-7 million, and it also stars Dennis Farina and Vinnie Jones. Snatch currently sits at a 74% score from critics but a 93% rating from general audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Jason Statham is a great action movie star, but his deadpan debut performance in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels proves hes even better at delivering pitch-black comedy. Statham is one of the few movie stars left who can turn a movie into a blockbuster based on their involvement alone. Statham is the only reason The Beekeeper was a box office hit. Even when it comes to his own franchises, like Crank, The Meg, and The Expendables, its Stathams star power that draws in the crowds, not the I.P.

Peter Jacobson reflects on his experiences filming The Midnight Meat Train alongside Bradley Cooper. Released in 2008, The Midnight Meat Train hails from director Ryhei Kitamura, with Cooper starring as Leon, a photographer obsessed with capturing the darkness of humanity who soon finds himself stalking a serial killer who brutally murders his victims aboard late-night subway journeys. Escape Plan's twist ending reframes the movie and Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, Rottmeyer. This 2013 action thriller is one of several Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and cast the former as escape specialist Ray Breslin. Ray is sent to an "inescapable" prison dubbed The Tomb, run by vicious warden Hobbes (Jim Caviezel). Ray soon befriends Rottmeyer, who runs security for a mysterious thief called Mannheim, who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Together, the two men look for weaknesses in The Tomb's design and carefully plot their escape.
It also turns out Breslin's business partner Clark (Vincent D'Onofrio) is in league with Hobbes and wants Ray left trapped in The Tomb, which is eventually revealed to be a prison ship. The first Escape Plan movie ends with Breslin and Rottmeyer putting their scheme into action, and after much shooting and punching, they escape in a rescue helicopter.

Brad Pitt is a household name. So much so that even if someone doesn't follow his work, they'll still have heard of him. His extensive career has taken him from the epic crime thriller The Departed to the romantic fantasy drama The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and almost everything in between. But there's one movie that stands out as his best and came over 24 years ago. Starring in Guy Ritchie's Snatch, Pitt took on a character that audiences hadn't seen him portray before. Pitt wasn't type-cast and had to dramatically change his accent in the process of becoming part of Ritchie's project. Ritchie was at a very early point in his career. He'd finished Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998, and Snatch was his next movie.

The MCU is gearing up to introduce the Mutants, something we’ve known since Disney acquired Fox. While you could argue that the Mutants have already made a few brief appearances, the X-Men themselves haven’t yet entered the MCU.
Although their full debut is still some time away, Marvel has promised a major introduction in the future.
Even though we don’t know all the details, it’s clear that Feige and Marvel are taking their time to get it right. The X-Men’s arrival in the MCU will be a major moment and will shape the franchise for years to come.
Given the importance of this debut, fans are understandably anxious about who Marvel will cast. With an already-established X-Men universe, comparisons between the old and new casts are inevitable.

The villains of "Deadpool & Wolverine" include the psychic Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin). The movie gets nowhere close to the gonzo stories told about Cassandra in Marvel Comics, but it maintains her origin as the evil twin sister of the X-Men's leader, Professor Charles Xavier. Banished to the wasteland dimension of the Void, Nova has made herself queen of Hell with a band of followers.
The inside joke of "Deadpool & Wolverine" is how the Marvel movies produced by the erstwhile 20th Century Fox risk being forgotten thanks to the Disney merger that put all these characters under the McU's umbrella. So, Nova's army is made up of the most forgotten villains of those films: Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, Toad, Bullseye, Juggernaut, etc. (All these minor villains were recast from their original appearances.)

As much as the film makes fun of it, Deadpool & Wolverine is a nostalgic ode to a bygone era of Marvel Fox movies filled with cameos from the original X-Men franchise. A brief appearance of Juggernaut from X-Men: The Last Stand can be spotted by eagle-eyed viewers, but the character nearly looked completely different. Newly unveiled concept art reveals the sequel had to get creative with the cameo after the previous actor rejected an offer to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine.
After the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, concept artists who worked on the film have been sharing their alternate character designs on social media. The latest comes from artist David Masson San Gabriel, who revealed on his Instagram page an alternate, female version of Juggernaut. He says he was commissioned by the filmmakers to do a gender-bent Juggernaut, specifically from X-Men: The Last Stand. It seems that since the original actor,...
