In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the “Wonder Woman” TV series, star Lynda Carter is set to be honored by the Paley Center for Media at the 2025 Paley Honors Spring Gala.

Carter will be feted for acting as a superhero on camera — and off. “Wonder Woman” launched in 1975 and had a lasting effect on pop culture. Off camera, Carter is a dedicated philanthropist and advocate, working with organizations such as the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, City of Hope/TGen’s blood cancer research and the Era Coalition.

In what can only be described as saddening news, legendary actor Ron Ely has passed away at the age of 86. The announcement came from his daughter Kirsten Casale Ely, who told The Associated Press that he died on September 29 at his home in Los Alamos, California.

Ely was best known for portraying Tarzan in the NBC TV series, which ran for three seasons between 1966 and 1968. A time when action-packed TV shows based on classic characters were big commodities for network television (See: Batman), Tarzan maintained many of the elements that were popular with the source material, but it is particularly notable for not featuring Jane. It's also notable for the fact that Ely did the majority of his own stunts (and suffered some injuries as a result of that).

Wonder Woman is one of the greatest superheroes the world has ever known. A warrior from Paradise Island, a.k.a. Themyscira, she fights for people's rights and always chooses love over hate; inspiring such hope across the world ever since her introduction into DC Comics in 1941.

We've seen multiple live-action versions of the character over the years, most notably Lynda Carter's in the 1975 Wonder Woman TV series, and Gal Gadot's in the DC Extended Universe movies. It was thought that the latter would continue playing the hero for many more years to come as the Dceu was just getting started, but her future was called into question when DC Studios took over the helm as Wonder Woman 3 was cancelled.

Cast members from various Star Trek series will gather next week for an in-person and livestream fundraiser for Crooked Media’s Vote Save America.

Per organizers, those participating include Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Wil Wheaton, Jonathan Del Arco, Jeri Ryan, Rosalind Chao, Tawny Newsome, Eugene Cordero, and Noël Wells. Also expected: Mike McMahan, writer and producer of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The event will be hosted by Pod Save America’s Jon Lovett and Trek’s and the City’s Alice Wetterlund.

The event will take place at 4 p.m. Pt on Oct. 2 at a venue in Los Angeles and via livestream.

The proceeds will go to Vote Save America, which raises money for down-ballot races, state-level grassroots organizations and voter protection efforts. Tickets start at $10 per person for the livestream and $150 per person for the in-person event.

The event is the latest fundraising effort for Harris and Democrats tied to fandom.

Focused on the early days of Clark Kent, it was the premiere superhero show long before the Arrowverse aired on the same network. Even after Smallville came to a close, this wasn't the end for the narrative that had put The WB and its successor, The CW, on the map.

Heroes 4 Harris is hosting a virtual Kamala-Con on Sunday, Sept. 8, featuring Mark Ruffalo, Rosario Dawson, Mandy Patinkin, Sean Astin, Alex Winter and more celebrity guests, all fundraising for the Democratic nominee ahead of her Sept. 10 debate with Donald Trump on ABC News.

Bruce Campbell has played supporting roles in so many films and TV shows, he once wrote a fictionalized autobiography -- "Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way" -- about how his biggest possible break would be playing a sage-like doorman in a high-profile Hollywood drama starring Richard Gere and Renée Zellweger.
