As Fox this morning unveiled its fall 2025 schedule, the network has four more scripted series whose fate has not been decided: sophomore Accused, third-year drama Alert: Missing Persons Unit as well as drama The Cleaning Lady, now in its fourth season, and animated comedy The Great North, in Season 5. All are on the bubble as the bottom four lowest ranked scripted series on the network.
Of the four, only one, Accused, developed and executive produced by 24 and Homeland’s Howard Gordon, has finished its most recent season, which wrapped in December. Don’t expect the crime anthology, featuring a different case — and different cast — in each episode to continue as an ongoing series but it could come back at some point as an event, Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, said during the network’s pre-upfront press call Sunday.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit's long-awaited third season is on fire, with all four episodes having been released so far met with more praise than previous seasons. This has already led to plenty of positives for the series created by John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx, including higher reported viewing figures for these opening four episodes than both of the final two in Season 2. The series continues to grow and flourish as one of the better procedurals available on Fox, headlined by a selection of top performances and a case-of-the-week structure sure to keep anyone hooked.
Last week, Episode 4, "Sophie," saw Jason (Scott Caan) and Mike (Ryan Broussard) take on a particularly tricky missing persons case, as the kidnapping of a lieutenant who had spoken out about sexual harassment uncovers a web of lies. If you thought that was high-octane, the dial looks to be turned again in the upcoming Episode 5, "Violet.

Fox veterans The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers have never really been on the bubble because first, they remain strong performers for the network, and secondly, due to the longer lead time needed in animation, they would always get an early renewal. That was taken to a new level this year as all three, along with American Dad!, returning to Fox after an 11-year run on TBS, have just been given four-year pickups, keeping the 20th TV Animation-produced comedies off the bubble list for the foreseeable future.
Also safe are the two Fox-owned animated comedies, Krapopolis and Grimsburg, which are not as strong in the ratings as the three long-timers but still bring eyeballs while also making money for the network via international and streaming sales. Krapopolis, now in its second season, already has been renewed for a fourth season. Grimsburg, also in its second season, is expected to be renewed for a third,...

Alert: Missing Persons Unit just shockingly killed off a character and that can change the entire show!
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3, episode 2
Fans of Alert are used to some unexpected twists and turns in cases, but nothing could have prepared them for “Badge #41870.” It opened with Nikki (Dania Ramirez) being kidnapped in her own car in a parking lot.
At the precinct, the team was met by Inspector Bill Houston (Malcolm-Jamal Warner), who wasn’t happy about the maverick actions of Jason (Scott Caan) and Nikki’s husband, Mike (Ryan Broussard). However, he was more concerned as he’d gotten word a convict named Raina had gotten early parole.
Years earlier, Nikki had busted Raina and her criminal brother, killing the man in self-defense. The case made Nikki’s career, so Raina had ample motive for revenge. Realizing Nikki was missing, the team...

In all honesty, I watched the first half of the first season of Alert: Missing Persons Unit before tapping out.
The only cast member with any gravitas was Scott Caan, and on his best days, Jason Grant is annoying as hell.
But then you add in all of the side characters, a miserably misleading story, and enough production mistakes to drive anyone nuts, and well, you get the picture.
(Katie Yu/Fox)
Yet, it remains on the schedule. Now in its third season, I heard the show took a big swing last night, and I decided to watch.
That didn’t paint a more rosy outlook than I had two seasons ago.
So, what drove this epiphany that the show is beyond saving? I’m glad you asked.
(Bettina Strauss/Fox)

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3 Episode 2 “Badge #41870.”] Alert: Missing Persons Unit just delivered its most shocking episode yet. Ahead of the season, the trailer revealed that Nikki (Dania Ramirez) would be kidnapped, and that moment comes at the beginning of the second episode, “Badge #41870.” The episode also introduces Chief Inspector Bill Houston (recurring guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner), who wasn’t a fan of the way Jason (Scott Caan) did things in the past; he says that they’re going to start over because he’s learned to take the good with the bad. There are more pressing concerns: He’s looking for Nikki because someone she arrested for felony assault, Raina (Sharon Taylor), is out on early parole. Nikki’s phone is going straight to voicemail, and then Gps of her car leads them to it … outside the city and completely burned. The only good news? It’s empty and...

Malcolm-Jamal Warner debuts as the new boss in the Tuesday, April 1, episode of the Fox drama, and TV Insider has an exclusive first look at the two crossing paths. Houston steps off the elevator as Jason is walking behind him, on the phone with Wayne (Alisha-Marie Ahamed). “These are my Vegas rules,” he’s telling her. “No slots, no strippers, and no shellfish.” He then tells her he’ll call her later and hurries to catch up to Houston, asking if he got lost on the way to the golf course. “My five iron’s in the shop, so I thought I’d do some police work instead,” Houston says. “Lucky us,” Jason remarks. Houston then surprises Jason by telling him, “We’re going to start over, alright? I know you don’t like me.

Ever since the dawn of broadcast TV, networks have taken a cutthroat approach to shows that either aren’t rating well or are becoming too expensive:
A swift cancellation.
While the Hawaii Five-0 reboot lasted a decade, it ended rather abruptly when CBS confirmed it would end with its 10th season.
(CBS/Screenshot)
The stunning decision came as the show was still pulling in decent numbers on the network, and the axe swung as the finale was filming.
Sadly, that meant the final episodes were rushed, which left me and many other fans dissatisfied with the conclusion.
(Karen Neal/CBS)
A show that delivered consistently for CBS and spent a decade on the air deserved a much better planned-out endgame.
A full final season announcement would have sufficed because all the character arcs could have reached more organic endpoints.
