From ‘Dutton Ranch’ to ‘Y: Marshals’ and beyond: Everything to know about the upcoming ‘Yellowstone’ spinoffs
Image
Yellowstone, the mega-hit neo-Western series from superproducer Taylor Sheridan, came to an end after five seasons in 2024, but the show’s universe continues to expand. There are five publicly announced sequels, prequels, and spinoffs in various stages of development. They’ll follow the prequels that have already aired, 1883 and 1923, as well as Sheridan’s collection of non-Yellowstone shows on Paramount+, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen, Lioness, and Landman. Here’s everything we know so far about each of Sheridan’s various Yellowstone expansions, from the forthcoming to the off in the distance.

Dutton Ranch

The most direct successor to Yellowstone is the sequel series focused on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) hell-raising daughter, and her husband, tough ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). While an official title has not been announced, Bloomberg reports that the project is tentatively titled Dutton Ranch, and is expected...

Hunger Games: Kelvin Harrison Jr. joins Sunrise on the Reaping cast with Glenn Close possibly volunteering as tribute
Kelvin Harrison Jr.
Disney alum Kelvin Harrison Jr. is entering the Hunger Games! As the cast for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping grows, Harrison Jr., who voiced Scar for Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, wants in on the latest adaptation of a Suzanne Collins bestseller. In addition to Kelvin Harrison Jr., Glenn Close is eyeing a role, but sources say her participation is uncertain. Contracts are tricky, and negotiations must align for Close to join the contest of champions from Panem.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. plays Beetee, champion of the 34th Hunger Games. Jeffrey Wright played Beetee in the original Hunger Games movies.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. joins Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, with Whitney Peak playing Haymitch’s girlfriend, Lenore Dove Baird. Image
Christopher Nolan fans, if you’ve been aching to see his work recently, one of his best movies, Interstellar, is streaming for free on Tubi. The Oscar-winning director has a choiced filmography and this tale of a father and daughter’s separation is widely considered the best. Starring the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, and Anne Hathaway, the movie is equal parts physics and emotions.

Earlier this year the movie was re-released in celebration of its 10th anniversary and was widely revisited by fans in theatres worldwide. The movie’s worldwide gross now stands at over $750 million. More than its commercial success, the re-release success stands as a testament as fans’ love for original movies and the acclaimed director. 5 Reasons Why Tom Hardy's MobLand Is The Perfect Yellowstone Replacement
Image
Tumbleweed continues blowing through Montana after the final season of "Yellowstone" came to a close, with fans still awaiting to see what the future holds for the remains of the Dutton family. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will be settling down in their yet-to-be-named spin-off series, reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, respectively, but there's still no confirmation on when we can expect to see it. This also goes for the third prequel series, "1944," which will follow from "1923," after it ended in April this year.

So now what? With this chasm of Taylor Sheridan-scripted flagship show distinctly lacking from our weekly schedules, is there any other alternative to keep us busy before we get another Dutton family reunion? Well, you're in luck, as a perfect stand-in has arrived from across the pond, and you don't need to change streaming services to find it.

Debuting in March on Paramount+,...

"Cowboys Don't Say Goodbye": Luke Grimes Reacts to the 'Yellowstone' Spin-Off Title
Image
Luke Grimes has officially tipped his hat to the next chapter in his Yellowstone journey. The actor, who’s played the brooding yet loyal Kayce Dutton since the hit drama’s first episode, took to Instagram to share his reaction to the upcoming spin-off, currently titled Y: Marshals. The CBS series is slated to premiere in spring 2026, and will see Kayce trading in his saddle for a badge. “Cowboys don’t say goodbye, they say see you later,” Grimes wrote in the caption of his post, which racked up nearly 79,000 likes in a matter of days.

While Yellowstone ended with Season 5, Taylor Sheridan’s empire isn’t slowing down. In Y: Marshals, Kayce Dutton leaves the iconic Montana ranch behind to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. The twist? He’ll combine his cowboy upbringing with Navy Seal skills to deliver “range justice” in a lawless part of the West.

Luke Grimes’ ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Sounds Really Bad But Taylor Sheridan Update Hints All’s Not Well at Paramount
Image
Luke Grimes is cool and all, but when I heard he might be getting his own Yellowstone spinoff, my first reaction was: really? Of all the characters to build a new show around, Kayce Dutton wouldn’t have topped my list. And frankly, the concept just doesn’t sound that exciting. What made Yellowstone work was the messy family dynamics and power plays take that away, and what’s left?

To make things worse, Taylor Sheridan’s latest update hints that things aren’t exactly sunshine and roses over at Paramount. If the guy running the Dutton-verse is hitting roadblocks, this spinoff might be in real trouble.

Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone spinoff sounds bad and Taylor Sheridan’s exit says a lot Luke Grimes as Kayce in the series. | Credit: Paramount Network.

I’ll be real with you folks: Y: Marshals might be one of the worst spinoff titles I’ve ever heard.

Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio Fought for the Same Role in Star Wars, According to an Old Rumor
Image
Imagine Christian Bale as the tormented Jedi who falls to the dark side, or Leonardo DiCaprio donning the robes of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars. According to an old rumor from the early 2000s, both Oscar-winning actors were seriously considered to play young Jedi who would eventually become Darth Vader.

In the early 2000s, the galaxy far, far away nearly had a different Chosen One. Long before Hayden Christensen became the face of Anakin Skywalker, the Batman star Christian Bale was widely rumored to be George Lucas’ top pick for the iconic role in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

8 Things About The Yellowstone Series That Don't Make Sense
Image
The "Yellowstone" saga wants us to think that it's prestige television, but it's really an outlandish soap opera that requires us to suspend our disbeliefs and enjoy watching a bunch of cowboys get up to no good. That isn't a criticism either, as Taylor Sheridan's ever-expanding Western franchise is at its best when it's over the top, outlandish, and violent. Despite being somewhat soapy, though, "Yellowstone" is peppered with enough nuggets of wisdom and thought-provoking ideas to make it seem more important than it is.

Of course, it's impossible to watch "Yellowstone" and its spin-offs — "1883" and "1923" — without riding a metaphorical steam engine through its myriad of plot holes while feeling simultaneously baffled by its ridiculous moments. Sure, it's all part of Sheridan's saga's appeal as an entertaining trainwreck, but these shortcomings still deserve to be questioned. With that in mind, here are eight elements of the Paramount Network...

The Scrapped Yellowstone Storyline That Could Have Destroyed The Show
Image
This post contains spoilers for multiple seasons of "Yellowstone."

"Yellowstone" was all about family drama, especially when it came to the Dutton siblings. The show literally started with one of them, Lee Dutton, meeting his fate in a tragic inaugural episode that set the tone for "Yellowstone" going forward. After this, we learned that Wes Bentley's Jamie Dutton was actually adopted, and thus not a Dutton by birth in a scene that Bentley claimed was like a gut-punch to perform. Of course, poor old Jamie didn't make it out of "Yellowstone" alive, with the show ending after five seasons in December 2024 and the adopted Dutton brother meeting his own fate at the hands of his sister, Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton.

Luke Grimes' Dutton brother, Kayce, however, not only made it out of the drama-packed show alive, but it seems we'll soon see a Kayce Dutton spin-off that could...

Movies Roles Jake Gyllenhaal Rejected and Regretted Instantly
Image
Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal—bet you didn’t know that—is one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. Most popular actors we see on screen today are tied down to particular types of roles that they play repeatedly. Say, Tom Cruise with his crazy adventures of flying a plane or jumping off a cliff, Keanu Reeves with heroic high-action roles, and Dwayne Johnson with charismatic, larger-than-life characters.

But this is not the case with Gyllenhaal; the actor and his versatility go hand in hand. Take, for example, the role of a former professional fighter, a war hero, a psychopath, and even a romantic—this man has done it all. He also has an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Brokeback Mountain. It’s safe to say that he is someone who thrives on taking big risks and pushing creative boundaries.

However, even a star of his...

All 3 Yellowstone shows ranked from worst to best
Image
Since 2018, the Yellowstone franchise has been one of the most popular TV franchises. In a few short years, we've seen five seasons of Yellowstone and two spinoffs. One of those spinoffs, 1923, just wrapped up its second season in 2025, and there are even more Yellowstone shows in the works.

At the time of publishing, there's at least three Yellowstone shows officially in development all from series creator Taylor Sheridan, including 1944, The Madison starring Michelle Pfiefer, and the potential spinoff that continues the major Yellowstone arc with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. 6666, which was ordered years ago, is also in the works, too. So, that makes four Yellowstone shows that could be something in the next few years.

After watching 1883, 1923, and Yellowstone, I ranked the three Yellowstone shows so far from worst to best. Thankfully, it wasn't too challenging. There are definitely tiers to these shows!

Landman Season 2 Should Resolve A Major Cooper And Ainsley Subplot
Image
Taylor Sheridan's "Landman" is perfect viewing for fans of "Yellowstone," as both shows are Western-flavored dramas that center around dysfunctional families. They also contain similar storylines, especially when it comes to sibling rivalries. Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) hate each other on "Yellowstone," and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and Cooper Norris (Jacob Lofland) butt heads on "Landman." The reason for the latter brother and sister pairing's feud is still a mystery, however, and it feels like a subplot that's going nowhere. This is why their relationship needs to evolve in "Landman" season 2.

The good news, though, is that "Landman" co-creator Christian Wallace is interested in exploring the siblings' relationship in more detail. In an interview with TV Insider, he explained that Ainsley and Cooper dislike each other because they're polar opposites. Still, unlike Jamie and Beth on "Yellowstone" (whose fallout ends in death), Wallace thinks there's a...

Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone Universe May Be in Trouble Thanks to Major Paramount Update
Image
Paramount's Yellowstonehits a major bump in the road over episode budgets.

Per Puck, incoming Paramount Streaming Chief Cindy Holland has reportedly stated in meetings with creators and agents alike that her target budget for new episodes is $9 million. This has struck a chord with Yellowstone co-creator and writer Taylor Sheridan, whose episodes usually cost between $12 million and $16 million each, largely due to extensive location shoots and the overwhelming star power associated with Sheridan's various series.

This report comes alongside news that Paramount is pushing to further license its Paramount+ offerings, with other platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO's Max all interested in perusing the former's licensing options. The move comes as one of several major shifts for the company, which has also begun putting pressure on potential partners via its recent deal reached with David Ellison's Skydance. Per the report, Netflix has already attempted to renegotiate...

Even after the flagship series ended last year, Yellowstone is still expanding in the form of new spinoffs following iconic characters. In 2018, Taylor Sheridan premiered the hit neo-Western drama Yellowstone, which ran for five seasons on Paramount until Dec. 2024. The original series was a major success, which later expanded into several spin-offs.

The franchise boasts star-studded names for all its projects, and it started with Western icon Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley. In 2021, the first prequel series, 1883, premiered. Almost four years later, 1883 has become a hit on Netflix, Tudum reports.

For the week of Mar. 10 and 16, Yellowstone's first prequel, 1883, made its debut on Netflix. Although it's not available on the streaming platform in the U.S., as Paramount Pictures streams it on its platform, Paramount+, the spinoff series became a hit globally.

The ten-episode spinoff received 2.9 million views globally, and reached the Top 10 in 34 countries across the world. It entered the Top 10 in seventh place, just ahead of Ms. Rachel Season 1, American Murder: Gabby Petito, and the limited series Toxic Town.

1 John Dutton Line Makes Me Wish Taylor Sheridan Would Make This Yellowstone Spinoff
Image
The Yellowstonefranchise is at a turning point, as Taylor Sheridan's neo-Western television universe searches for new stories to tell after the conclusion of its flagship series. Already, the franchise has begun to expand with multiple prequel series that chronicle earlier generations of the Dutton family in the 19th and 20th centuries. However, as these series begin to catch up with the present day, Sheridan is beginning to find new stories to tell after the events of Yellowstone, including in upcoming spinoffs like The Madison, 6666, and Beth and Rip's untitled series. However, one major Yellowstone character is conspicuously absent from these plans.

Kayce Dutton is one of Yellowstone's best characters, who struggles to lead his own young family without becoming the same overbearing tyrant that his father was. Portrayed by Luke Grimes, Kayce has a compelling and emotional storyline throughout Yellowstone's five seasons, but there may still...

25 Years After Oscar Glory, American Beauty Still Packs a Punch
Image
American Beauty was the first film directed by Sam Mendes, released in 1999 to huge critical and commercial acclaim; 25 years on, society has shifted. Kevin Spacey, who was once lauded for his performance as Lester Burnham is no longer in favor. Two decades ago, this film was still considered challenging, but it would be career napalm in this contemporary climate. With a male protagonist who embraces middle age by lusting after high school girls, flipping burgers, and smoking pot, this movie would never get made today. However, American Beauty does exist and is about a lot more than that.

Screenwriter Alan Ball is best known for True Blood starring Anna Paquin, but none of that happens without American Beauty. He also created Six Feet Under in the afterglow of his Oscar glory, which ran for 5 seasons and won 9 Emmys. Looking back on American Beauty in the aftermath of all that creative collateral,...

The Yellowstonefranchise is getting bigger--and in some unexpected ways. Taylor Sheridan's hit neo-Western television universe follows the complicated Dutton family, ranchers who will do anything to protect their land, throughout multiple generations, charting their rise and their fall with over a century of storytelling. Why Beth Dutton Had To Kill Jamie In Yellowstone, According To A Producer
Image
It was a rivalry that burned through the entire run of "Yellowstone" and came to a brutal end in the show's final episode. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) killed the man partly responsible for her father's death and the misery that had plagued her for most of her life — her adopted brother, Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley. Even with the uncertainty that troubled the show's final season with the departure of Kevin Costner, the one thing audiences could count on was that Beth was going to get the man she hated, after making a promise to her late father.

Even without this pact in place, though, director Christina Voros believed it was always on the cards. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about Beth's final deed against her brother, Voros said, "I feel like Beth is a woman of her word, so when she said it, I believed it. Their relationship feels almost Shakespearean to me.

Sylvester Stallone Nearly Starred In A Disappointing Stephen King Crime Thriller
Image
After a dismal 1990s that greatly diminished his stature as one of the most bankable movie stars in Hollywood, Sylvester Stallone kicked off the 2000s with a pair of box office disappointments in "Get Carter" and "Driven." Though the latter reunited him with his "Cliffhanger" director Renny Harlin, moviegoers had very little interest in a film about Cart racing. With his two most valuable franchises, "Rocky" and "Rambo," mothballed due to lack of commercial interest, his once reliable international popularity on the wane, and a finished movie ("D-Tox") gathering dust on the shelf due to horrid test screening scores, Stallone had to humble himself and make a movie that didn't lose tens of millions of dollars for its investors. This meant working small and not demanding a bank-breaking payday.

Stallone was lost, as you can tell from one look at the movies he made around this time. The direct-to-video flop "Avenging Angelo,...

Westerns have been seeing a renaissance since the 2010s. Franchises like Yellowstone focus on land theft, family drama and romance. It has a soap opera feel to it, mixed in with politics and action in the dusty terrain. Interestingly, the Western genre can incorporate horror as well.

The implementation of horror is most evident in S. Craig Zahler's Bone Tomahawk from 2015. It was well-received by fans and critics, going on to become a cult hit for its simple storytelling. To that point, the ending paves the way for a sequel that could expand on its horrific concept that was introduced through terrifying villains.

When asked about a potential return to the series, Lange responded with an emphatic "Oh Christ, no." Lange added, "I mean, I haven't done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I'm not doing it." When asked if the series' upcoming thirteenth season potentially being its last had any impact on her decision, Lange replied with a simple, "No."

What Is The Train Station On Yellowstone?
Image
As quickly established in "Yellowstone," there's more to the Dutton ranch than herding cattle and breaking horses. Until his untimely death, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his family built an empire on endless corrupt deals, exploiting anyone who dared think they had a shot at overpowering one of the most powerful families in Montana. As a result, any wrongdoer who dared make the grave miscalculation of taking them on often got sent to a location kept off the map. This hidden secret was a private place for the Duttons and, more specifically, their right-hand man, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), for whenever an issue needed dealing with permanently.

This spot, known as the train station, was the final stop for those who crossed our favorite family, whether they liked it or not. Just as often as brawls in the bunkhouse explode in Taylor Sheridan's epic crime saga, visits were made to this haunting dumping ground,...

After appearing in the first season of 1923, the Yellowstone prequel series, actor Cole Bring Plenty passed away. Found dead in April 2024, he was just 27 years old. His role was recast for Season 2 of the series, though the late actor was honored at the start of the new season.

Brings Plenty, the nephew of Yellowstone actor Mo Brings Plenty, played the role of Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923 Season 1. Initially, it was reported that Brings Plenty had gone missing, and family members had taken to social media to ask for help with finding him. Soon after, law enforcement officials announced that he had been found deceased. His cause of death was never stated.

'Yellowstone's Wes Bentley Got His Breakout Role Way Before the Hit Western

Quick LinksWhat Is 'American Beauty' About?Who Is Ricky in 'American Beauty'?Jamie and Ricky Share a Surprising Similarity

Taylor Sheridan’s wildly popular series Yellowstone has seemingly become an American phenomenon and spawned an entire universe of spinoff series, including 1883 and 1923, along with the future spinoffs The Madison, 6666, 1944, and an untitled project set to follow Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). Each series chronicles the Dutton family at some point in time as they work to build their empire. The original series that started it all first premiered on the Paramount Network in June 2018 before it finally came to an end in December 2024. During that time, viewers watched John Dutton III (Kevin Costner) and his children, Kayce (Luke Grimes), Beth, and Jamie (Wes Bentley), confront all the ups and downs that befell the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana.

'We Need to Acknowledge That It Happened': 1923 Star Explains Storylines Confronting Racism
Image
1923, a prequel to Taylor Sheridan's hit series Yellowstone, goes over a century into the past. This means delving into how bad racism was at the time, particularly with how others treated Indigenous people.

Per Variety, the show's themes of racism were addressed by Two Spears actor Dougie Hall at the Los Angeles premiere for 1923 Season 2. He explained how that's a part of the story as Sheridan wanted to keep the series honest, and the storylines are based on actual historical experiences. Hall suggested that acknowledging this history of racism is actually beneficial "in order to heal," rather than pretending like these kinds of things did not happen at the time.

However, before he became the misunderstood adopted son of the Dutton family, Bentley made his name in one of the most controversial Oscar-winning films in history. In 1999, Bentley starred in American Beauty, a psychological dark comedy that made his name in Hollywood.

Playing Ricky Fitts, a role that would influence his later works and characters, the film’s success, which included sweeping the 72nd Academy Awards and becoming a defining film of the late 90s, launched Bentley into a range of roles in both film and television. “Crawls up the cliff like Boba Fett”: Craziest ‘Beth & Rip’ Spinoff Idea Could Turn Yellowstone’s Ending on Its Head
Image
For all his faults, Taylor Sheridan can still write a story like none other in Hollywood. After the television industry’s long stagnating period, Yellowstone managed to mark a shift among the modern audience who had been thirsting for a taste of something foreign and untested. The reprisal of Westerns was nothing new, yet Sheridan’s writing made it both experimental and dangerous.

After its spectacular success, Yellowstone gave way to two more integer-heavy prequel spin-offs – 1883 and 1923 – which built on the legacy of the Duttons. Meanwhile, Taylor Sheridan’s increasing ambition toppled the writer-director off his game somewhere beyond Yellowstone‘s post-Season 3 arc. As the number of projects on his roster increased, so began the decline of Sheridan’s golden era.

Wait, What Happened to Jamie’s Son in ‘Yellowstone’
Image
As the dust settles on the Dutton Family Ranch following Yellowstone's series finale on December 15, 2024, fans wonder what happened to Jamie Dutton's (Wes Bentley) son, James. Fans may recall that Jamie had a son with Christina in Season 2, a development addressed when Beth Dutton found a baby seat in Jamie's car in Season 5.

However, with Taylor Sheridan tying up several loose strands with tragic fatalities, Jamie Jr. got lost in the shuffle. Instead, Season 5 was marked by death, destruction, and the Dutton family dealing with an airport built on their land. At no point is Jamie and Christina's son mentioned, or his fate revealed, leaving many wondering if the character may appear as an adult in a next-generation Yellowstone spin-off.

Here is what Taylor Sheridan had to say about writing Yellowstone.

“Privileged white guy protects his stolen land…”: Brutal Take On Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Yellowstone’ Ending May Change How You Feel About the Finale

Yellowstone’s season finale received mixed reactions from fans, and while some were disappointed with how things turned out, others celebrated the ending especially with Beth avenging John Dutton.

Many viewers who followed the show from the start have their own favorite characters, and there were also some who believed the story was truly about Beth.

Fan claims Beth Dutton isn’t the heart of Yellowstone

New fans getting into the franchise would easily have the idea that Yellowstone revolves around John Dutton, more than his children. But, over time, the politics and drama became even more complicated which resulted in his tragic demise.

Denim Richards' Colby Mayfield died in a December episode of Yellowstone after being trampled by a horse while trying to help Finn Little's Carter.

"The thing that I think is such a gut-punch about Colby's death is that in a season where there are all these twists and turns and dark forces and giant narrative swings, Colby's death is so powerful because it's so simple," episode director Christina Voros told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a dangerous job, and this kind of thing happens and it happens in a split-second. This death comes as a shock because it's so simple, and it's so grounded in the world in which all these characters work that it's profoundly tragic.

“You’re just not Jamie”: A ‘Yellowstone’ Cowboy Almost Stole Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton Role Before Taylor Sheridan Stepped In
Image
Sometimes in life, the road we think we’re destined for isn’t always the one that takes us to where we need to be. We all want to be the hero in our own stories, but more often than not, the best chapters come from unexpected detours. Ian Bohen, who’s made a name for himself as the lovable yet gritty cowboy Ryan in Yellowstone knows this firsthand.

If you ask him about the rocky path to the role that solidified his place in Taylor Sheridan’s universe, you’ll hear a story filled with both triumph and the humbling sting of “almost”.

But let’s not sugarcoat it: This isn’t just a story about an actor missing out on a role. No, this is about a passionate journey, a lesson in trusting your instincts, and a good ol’ fashioned reminder that timing is everything.

The Yellowstone Scene That Felt Like A Gut Punch For Wes Bentley
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Yellowstone," including season 5.

"Yellowstone" is full of real gut-punch moments. The series kicked off with a shocking death when Lee Dutton met his fate in the premiere episode. That very much set the tone for the show moving forward, which at times felt like a really well-shot soap opera and less like a premium drama. That isn't to knock Taylor Sheridan's hugely-popular neo-Western; "Yellowstone" has managed to maintain its appeal in part due to such shocking developments making the series unmissable — at least for dads. Sam Elliot might have trashed "Yellowstone" as a result of its soapy tendencies, but he also starred in one of its spin-offs, so he can't hate it that much.

This continued right up until the show's fifth season, with season 5 part B opening with the controversial death of Dutton family patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). Perhaps the most contentious...

The 10 Worst Lines Of Dialogue In Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone
Image
Taylor Sheridan is one of the most prolific writers working in film and television today, with shows such as "Tulsa King," "Landman," "Lioness," and "Mayor of Kingstown" becoming hits on the small screen. His projects tend to be action-packed and full of drama, and they attract A-list names like Kevin Costner, Billy Bob Thornton, and Zoe Saldana. However, "Yellowstone" is his prize horse, and it's spawned a successful franchise that includes spin-offs like "1883" and "1923," with more on the way.

Sheridan deserves plenty of credit for his success, and the fact he's such a highly sought-after writer proves that he has talent. That said, there are lines of dialogue on "Yellowstone" that are straight-up cringe-inducing, albeit in a way that's quite entertaining and adds to the series' trashy, soap opera-esque qualities. Keeping that in mind, let's reminisce about some of the worst lines to make it from the script...

Taylor Sheridan’s Personal Vendetta May Have Ruined a ‘Yellowstone’ Character Who Fans Could Never Learn to Hate
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Yellowstone

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone finally ended last year with its fifth season. Despite feuding with lead star Kevin Costner, the show returned without him and gave not necessarily a satisfying, but poetic ending with its finale. While the series has ended, there are still prequels and spinoffs in various stages of development.

The reception for Yellowstone’s final season was polarizing. Many fans accused Sheridan of playing it safe and not staying true to its core themes of moral ambiguity. The biggest examples of this were the heel turn and eventual death of Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley. His death did not seem like a natural end for the character but was a statement.

“It’s gonna kill her”: Kelly Reilly Despised 1 Thing About Her ‘Yellowstone’ Character That Made Life Difficult On-Set

Yellowstone has made Kelly Reilly a household name. Her character Beth Dutton’s courage and confidence shine through her performance, but her one quirk left the actress feeling uncomfortable throughout the show’s five seasons.

Following Yellowstone Season 5 Part B’s divisive ending, both fans and cast members have been reminiscing about its best moments. The episodes released on the heels of the show’s lead actor Kevin Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan’s feud weren’t the easiest to digest. Fans hated Dutton family patriarch John Dutton and his adopted son Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Bentley) fate a sentiment echoed amongst the critics as well. However, most fans will unanimously agree with Reilly’s candid confession about her character.

Taylor Sheridan Could’ve Sidestepped Yellowstone’s Landmine of a Plot if He Changed Just One Detail About Beth’s Pregnancy

One small decision can blow up into a firestorm that engulfs everything in its path. It’s like setting a match to a powder keg—you never quite know how much damage it’ll do until it’s too late. Taylor Sheridan’s decision to have Beth turn to Jamie for help with her pregnancy is one of those powder kegs, igniting fan outrage and creating a wedge between two beloved characters.

But what if Sheridan had flipped the script and had Beth turn to her older brother, Lee, instead?

Yellowstone quickly became one of the most popular shows in the US before shockingly declining during its final episodes. Landman Season 1's Finale Had The Satisfying Death That Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone Season 5 Was Missing
Image
The ending of Landman season 1 was able to beat Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone season 5, part 2 in one major way: through the death of one major character. Even though it marked the end of one of the biggest TV sensations in recent memory, the ending of Yellowstone didn't fully live up to the hype. Many longtime fans found fault with Yellowstone season 5, part 2, and one of the most common criticisms was how it handled the deaths of its major characters. None of the show's major deaths were very satisfying, but Landman had no such problem.

In contrast to Yellowstone, the ending of Landman season 1 was one of the Taylor Sheridan show's stronger episodes. It moved quite a few of its converging stories forward, shone a spotlight on some underutilized characters, and left the door wide open for Landman season 2. One of the things it did best, however, was also exactly what Yellowstone did worse.
