The organization has announced a new award category honoring the best podcast of the year, broadening its recognition of creative storytelling.

The category will debut at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, scheduled for Jan. 11, 2026. Organizers said the move reflects the growing influence and reach of podcasts in the entertainment industry.

“As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are excited to recognize new forms of storytelling,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations.”

The award will include both audio and video podcasts and will spotlight work that has made a significant impact over the past year. Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Angelique Cabral, and Nicole Byer will all voice characters in the series, with Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz set as recurring guest stars. Netflix also revealed the comedy series will debut on Aug. 22.

“Long Story Short” was originally announced in Aug. 2024. The official logline states the show is “about one family, over time. Jumping through the years, we follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises.”

Bob-Waksberg is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen will executive produce for Tornante Television. I just saw “A Minecraft Movie” and it was everything it’s hyped up to be — funny, entertaining, visually gorgeous, and (most importantly) great for kids and adults. It was a blast, and it got me thinking about the best animated comedy movies for adults like me. Usually, I’m not a massive animation fan, but if I’m being honest, many of the best movies I’ve seen in theaters over the last year have been animated. So, it’s time to give animation its due. Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman’s “SmartLess” podcast celebrated its 250th episode Monday with a surprise guest appearance – from Arnett’s ex-wife, Amy Poehler.

Poehler, who recently launched her own “Good Hang” podcast, worked with Hayes to keep her appearance on “SmartLess” a secret from both Arnett and Bateman. “It was really easy to hide it. If you look at a lot of the best films in the superhero genre, a common denominator is Batman. The Caped Crusader's 80+ year legacy makes him one of the comic book heroes most open for interpretation. Per a release date teaser on Thursday, Season 2 will debut on July 31. The teaser, embedded below, doesn’t give away much more about the season than had already been revealed in previous trailers, but we know that Raven (Neve Campbell) has been grooming Anthony Mackie’s John Doe for the sinister Twisted Metal Tournament — which looks to be about as lovely as it sounds.
