Exclusive: Yale Entertainment, the independent production company of Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman, has filed for bankruptcy, Deadline has learned.

“Unfortunately, that is true – Yale Entertainment has filed for bankruptcy,” the founders said in a statement to Deadline. “The climate for making independent films has become increasingly difficult – with the pandemic, the industry-wide strikes, and a major shift in the independent film marketplace. We’ve been very fortunate to have collaborated with some extremely talented creatives, and we’re grateful to everyone that has been a part of Yale’s journey.”

No word yet on what Levine and Beckerman will do next.

Avatar: The Way of Water concluded with the death of Jake Sully and Neytiri's firstborn son, Neteyam. Unsurprisingly, that's put them both back on the warpath against the Rda, and the "absolute devastation" will fuel the matriarch's actions heading into Avatar: Fire and Ash.

"That pain is seamlessly followed up on," Zoe Saldaña tells Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com). "And because it doesn’t really have anywhere to go, and doesn’t go away, rage can also come from it. [The Sullys] are going to be tested as a family."

"Not only would everything that’s happening compel her to question the bond she has with her husband," the actress adds, "but also her bond with herself, her people, her land, and the way the Na’vi are. She’s going to question everything."

Good Chaos, the U.K. production banner founded by industry veteran Mike Goodridge, has signed a first look deal with Searchlight Pictures.

The arrangement — which will see Searchlight develop and produce films alongside Good Chaos — comes during a period of success and growth for the London-based company, which last year saw two of its films shortlisted for the international feature Oscar in Baltasar Kormakur’s Icelandic romance drama “Touch” and Sandhya Suri’s India-set crime thriller “Santosh,” representing the U.K.

Coming up, the company heads to Cannes with Shih-Ching Tsou’s “Left Handed Girl” (co-written by recently crowned Oscar monopolizer and Tsou’s frequent collaborator Sean Baker) in the Critics’ Week sidebar. In the first movie, Helander reteamed with Rare Exports actor Jorma Tommila for one epic and hyper-violent period adventure through the wilderness of Lapland in Northern Finland.

Per Variety, Cameron addressed the CinemaCon audience as he and his cast promoted Fire and Ash ahead of its theatrical premiere this holiday season. Not in attendance at CinemaCon due to Fire and Ash post-production commitments, Cameron addressed the crowd from New Zealand, believing that the film could provide the major boost theater owners seek.

“So sorry I can’t be there, but I’m in New Zealand, finishing up Avatar: Fire and Ash, which I think we can all agree is a good use of my time, considering this sucker is coming at us like a freight train on Dec. 19,” Cameron said.

Empire Magazine has a new still from the upcoming film, showing Lo’ak surfing on the back of Payakan, his Tulkun companion with whom he forms a bond in the second film. Reports suggest that the released footage has created a buzz among the distributors with its seemingly dark storyline. Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri and Sam Worthington’s Jake Scully appear in the footage as they face off against a threat even more dangerous than the human invaders.

Director James Cameron continues to conjure awe in audiences everywhere with his next sequel in the hugely successful Avatar franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has now arrived at CinemaCon. New footage revealed to those in attendance delivered another incredible, breathtaking spectacle of visual effects. As per Discussing Film, the footage played out as follows:

"The first footage we see is the water tribe floating on a strange jellyfish-like ship. The detail is out of this world, with the high frame rate photography looking genuinely cinema-redefining. The next scene involves an aerial attack on Jake, Neytiri, and their clan by the Ash people, who have red paint on their mouths to indicate their tribe. We then transition to more of a traditional trailer.

Disney screened the first footage from Avatar: Fire and Ash for exhibitors at CinemaCon on Thursday, introduced by James Cameron in a video segment. Cameron explained that he is in New Zealand finishing the film but was pleased to share a “glimpse at the increased emotional heart and soul.”

Cameron also teased that our heroes “face not only the human invaders but new adversaries, the Ash people.”

Avatar star Zoe Saldaña then took the stage to tease the film. “Fire and Ash expands the beautiful world of Pandora and introduces two new clans, the Wind Traders and the Ash People,” she explained.

The footage opens with Neytiri (Saldaña) telling Jake (Sam Worthington), “The strength of the ancestors is here.”

Later, after the pair deal with dangerous attacks involving plenty of fire, Jake implores Neytiri to let go of her hatred: “You cannot live like this.

After the polarizing movie that was Don't Breathe 2, it seems that no one is rushing to continue the franchise created by Alien: Romulus' director Fede Álvarez and his frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues. Don't Breathe 3 has just received an optimistic but still disappointing update from franchise star Stephen Lang. The actor, also known for his role in the Avatar franchise, said that he'd like to give closure to his character's arc with "a script that really works," but that's it. Don't Breathe 3 is not coming any time soon, for now.

Lang spoke to The Direct while promoting his current TV show, the biblical series House of David. The actor was quick to respond to the idea of Don't Breathe 3, and although he sounds optimistic and willing to reprise the character, it doesn't sound as if there's a script in development:

In an exclusive interview with The Direct, Stephen Lang shared an open-ended update on Don't Breathe 3 and its script while promoting his new show, House of David.

Referencing Charles Dickens, Lang expressed his interest in returning for a third Don't Breathe film, saying, "I'd like to finish the old buzzard off:"

Prime Video has officially released the first trailer for its upcoming series, Étoile, which will premiere on the platform on April 24. The first season consists of eight episodes, and while Prime Video gives some shows, such as The Boys and Reacher, the weekly release treatment, Étoile will come into the world via the binge model, with all episodes debuting simultaneously. Featuring in the lead roles of Étoile are Luke Kirby, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Lou de Laâge. Kirby is best known for his Emmy Award-winning work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, another Prime Video original series, while Gainsbourg is famed for starring in Antichrist (2009) and Melancholia (2011). De Laâge recently starred in The Mad Women’s Ball alongside Emmanuelle Bercot, and she’s also known for her work in The Innocents(2016).

The series tells the story of David (played by Michael Iskander) and his rise to become a powerful and celebrated king of Israel. James Cameron revealed that his wife had a strong emotional response after watching Avatar: Fire and Ash for the first time. In an interview with Empire, the director said she watched an early cut of the film without having seen any prior footage and was deeply affected.

“My wife watched the whole thing from end to end. She had kept herself away from it, and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along,” Cameron said. “She cried for four hours. She kept trying to compose herself so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d tear up and start crying again.”

He eventually had to pause the conversation. “Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time,’” he recalled.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third installment in Cameron’s Avatar series.
