Every Major Shirley Jackson Movie And TV Show, Ranked
Image
Author Shirley Jackson was a unique trailblazer in American fiction, crafting horror stories that weave supernatural elements with stories about grief, trauma, and mental illness. Over her lifetime she published six novels and more than 200 short stories, along with two memoirs, but surprisingly there have been only five film and television adaptations of her work. Plenty of others have been inspired by Jackson, of course, but only four films and one TV series actually seek to adapt her work in some way, to varying degrees of success.

There's something to appreciate in each of these works because the source material is so rich, but some Shirley Jackson adaptations are far better than others. So, let's take a look at them from worst to best, starting with the earliest adaptation: the 1957 Hugo Haas noir film "Lizzie."

Wednesday Season 2 Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Wednesday Season 2 Plot: What’s Brewing At Nevermore?

Jenna Ortega will return as the sharp-tongued, deadpan queen of the outcasts. This season, Wednesday will take on an even darker supernatural puzzle while juggling frayed friendships, new foes, and, of course, that wonderfully bizarre family.

The creators are teasing a more layered journey this time. As co-showrunner Alfred Gough put it (via Tudum): “Wednesday Season 1 was a table setter, but there...

Slam evil! The Phantom appears on 4K Blu-ray later this year
Image
In the wake of Batman and its hit sequels, interestingly, movie studios wouldn’t necessarily snatch up more DC properties to adapt, but they did attempt to bring more classic pulp heroes to the screen with The Rocketeer, The Shadow and 1996’s The Phantom. While there was an animated series just two years prior with the purple-clad character trying to save our dying planet in the future with The Phantom 2040, the feature film with Billy Zane takes its cue more from Indiana Jones-esque action with its 1930s setting and globe-trotting adventure.

Blu-ray.com has reported that the Paramount adaptation of the Lee Falk comic strip is now set to grace your TV screens in crisp ultra-high def 4K with a new Blu-ray from Kino Lorber. The new physical release of the Simon Wincer film, which stars Billy Zane, Kristy Swanson, Treat Williams, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and James Remar, is scheduled to...

‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Everything We Know About The Cast, Premiere Date & More
Image
Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has become the latest to get the two-part release treatment from Netflix.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. It eventually became the most-watched original series ever on the streamer, with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, Dahmer, and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.

Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

When will Season 2 be released?

Netflix has deemed Season 2 of Tim...

Image
As we first reported on FearHQ.com, Netflix has announced that Wednesday season 2 will return with its first batch of episodes on August 6, with the rest following on September 3.

The news comes with a trailer picking up with Wednesday Addams during her second year at Nevermore Academy. The title character compares her return to "returning to the scene of a crime," pointing out to her mother that she "already [knows] where the bodies are buried."

The series promises to have something of a different vibe when it returns to the streamer, as production moved from Romania to Ireland.

The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart...

Wednesday season 2 release date finally revealed (and some fans won't like it)
Image
She's back and gloomier than ever! One day after Netflix teased that the Wednesday season 2 teaser would be dropping, the streaming service made good on their promise, but they didn't simply release a teaser and hint at a release window. They gave fans everything, including new first-look images and the official release date in August and September for the highly anticipated follow-up season.

That's right, Wednesday season 2 will have a two-part release, which some fans will definitely not love. The eight-episode season will be split in half, with the first part releasing on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and the second part releasing on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Each part contains four episodes, and while that doesn't seem like enough to tide us over, we have been waiting almost three years!

I can already sense the fan spiral about having to wait a month in between part 1 and only getting four episodes at a time,...

Wednesday Season 2 Trailer Reveals Jenna Ortega's Netflix Show Is Being Split In Half
Image
Hump day is looking pretty horrifying (but in a good way) thanks to the arrival of the brand new trailer for "Wednesday" season 2, which sees Jenna Ortega return as the dark-minded daughter of the Addams Family. Following the surprise and absolutely massive success of the first season on Netflix, it came as no surprise when "Wednesday" season 2 was ordered by the streaming service. Fans of the first season should be happy to see the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky elements that we got so much of in season 1 are back for this new installment, all wrapped up in an all-new mystery with Ortega's dead-eyed alter-ego at the center (where she's joined by an impressive supporting ensemble). The thing that should have people most excited, however, is that season 2 looks to focus a little more on the Addams Family itself and not just its teen daughter.

Season 1 saw Wednesday spending...

5 Movies Kevin Spacey Turned Down and Regretted Instantly
Image
Kevin Spacey has not taken on a single role since 2017 due to his s*xual assault allegations, but this was not the case back in the day. The New Jersey-born actor was killing it in the 90s with action-packed roles like John Doe in David Fincher’s movie Se7en (1995), Kevin “Verbal” Kint in The Usual Suspects (1995) a movie by Bryan Singer, and Lester Burnham in American Beauty a film by Sam Mendes, to name just a few.

The actor has an amazing filmography and has bagged two Oscars as well. He is someone whose name in the cast would fill up theaters. However, even a great actor like Spacey can mess up in selecting his next role and miss out on movies that go on to become hits. This often happens in Hollywood—actors rejecting scripts or, at times, being rejected by casting crews or directors.

Let’s look at...
