Why Adam Sandler Was Fired From SNL
Image
Throughout its 50-year run, "Saturday Night Live" has been the launching pad for some of history's most beloved comedic actors and actresses. Fans often debate which decade of "SNL" was the best, but an argument can be made that the 1990s featured some of the funniest sketches in the show's history, introducing audiences to up-and-comers who would go on to become some of the biggest names in comedy to this day. One of those young stars was none other than Adam Sandler.

After making his film debut in 1989, Adam Sandler performed stand-up comedy in clubs. At one of his performances in Los Angeles, "SNL" cast member Dennis Miller was in attendance. Impressed by Sandler's material, Miller recommended him to Lorne Michaels, which led to Sandler landing a job in the "SNL" writers' room in 1990 and eventually being promoted to featured player in the cast. Alongside his co-stars Chris Farley, Tim Meadows,...

Conan O’Brien Explains Why He Continues to Support the Kennedy Center
Image
Conan O’Brien isn’t ready to give up on our country’s most prestigious cultural institutions just because they’ve been hijacked by a megalomaniac — he’s learned his lesson from The Tonight Show.

Following President Donald Trump’s hostile takeover of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and his firing of the National Cultural Center’s board of trustees, many creatives canceled their planned performances at the venerated venue out of protest, but not O’Brien. The Kennedy Center announced the late-night comedy legend as this year’s recipient of the hallowed Mark Twain Prize for American Humor just three weeks before a newly reinstated President Trump cleared out the Washington, D.C. cultural center of its longtime custodians and named himself the chairman of the organization. Despite the ongoing controversy, O’Brien went ahead with the scheduled ceremony on March 23rd, using his acceptance speech...

5 One-Joke Premises That ‘SNL’ Ran Into the Ground
Image
No Saturday Night Live character of recent vintage gets under my skin quite like Domingo, the gyrating Marcello Hernandez creation who cheats with Chloe Fineman when hubby Andrew Dismukes’ back is turned. The first Domingo sketch was fine but forgettable, but now he returns every few weeks to have his way with Fineman once again. Blame TikTok, since the sketch lends itself to memeable dance shorts that make up for the sketches’ inability to extend the original cuckold joke.

Redditors agree, as Domingo got multiple nominations and scores of votes in a recent r/LiveFromNewYork thread that asked the question, “What are some top examples of a joke getting stretched too thin?” But Domingo had plenty of company, mostly from SNL recurring characters that repeated the same catchphrases over and over again. Here are five of the most upvoted nominations for SNL sketches that ran a single joke into the ground…...

These Adam Sandler Movies All Have the Same Easter Egg
Image
Adam Sandler is one of his generation's most iconic comedy actors. His early works, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, etc., are among the most well-known and acclaimed. While later movies have seen a more "mixed" critical reception, Sandler has no doubt made his mark. But what if there was a secret Easter egg in several of his movies? And what if that Easter egg was hidden in plain sight?

In several Sandman pictures, his female love interest has the initials "Vv." There's Veronica Vaughn, Virginia Venit, Vicki Vallencourt, and more. But not every onscreen partner has these initials, so what's the story with the ones that do? Have we stumbled down some new conspiracy theory rabbit hole? Is "Vv" a secret sign warning of what's to come? Or is it just Sandler being Sandler and making up funny names? In all likelihood, the latter is the case.

Judge Dredd (1995) – What Happened to This Sci-Fi Action Movie?
Image
Imagine if, in modern times, the role of let’s say, DC’s Sgt. Rock went to the literal Rock, Dwayne Johnson. Imagine that he was given creative control over the high budget state of the art project despite having no idea who Sgt. Rock even was initially. Finally, imagine he decided to make it in the vein of all of his films, hiring Kevin Hart to be his sidekick, and royally pissing off fans of the source material along the way. That’s the best modern analogy I can come up with for what happened to 1995’s Judge Dredd. A film that had crew members allegedly taking bets on their director’s life expectancy, an NC17 rating, and Sylvester Stallone screaming I Am The Law!!! This is what happened to Judge Dredd.

Judge Dredd debuted in 1995; a year packed with iconic films. At the time, the superhero craze hadn’t fully kicked in,...

Jerry Seinfeld Says ‘SNL’ Sketch Making Fun of Him Was ‘A Thrill’
Image
Funny is funny, Jerry Seinfeld often argues (sometimes in defense of some pretty cringe humor). But give the comedian credit. If the gag is good, Seinfeld will laugh hysterically — even if he is the butt of the joke.

Case in point: “The Standups,” a 1980s Saturday Night Live sketch that skewered Seinfeld’s stand-up style years before his titular sitcom debuted. Tom Hanks, Jon Lovitz and Dennis Miller play comedians backstage at a club, all speaking in that familiar “What’s the deal with…?” rhythm.

Play

“I just got back from eating Mexican,” jokes Miller in what has to be one of the earliest Jerry imitations. “And I’m thinking, Hey! What’s the deal with these refried beans? I mean, hey! Why do they have to fry them twice?”

Former Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten played the bit for Seinfeld on a recent episode of his Spike’s Car Radio podcast,...

Between Oscar Wins, Adrien Brody Starred in a Rob Schneider Comedy Directed by the ShamWow Guy
Image
Adrien Brody won his second Academy Award on Sunday night for his starring role in the critically-acclaimed film The Brutalist.

The first time he scored a Best Actor trophy, Brody controversially kissed Halle Berry without her consent, so you’d think he’d work extra hard to not do something gross and weird immediately after winning an Oscar this time. But nope, right before taking the stage Brody took some chewing gum out of his mouth and chucked it at his partner. He then proceeded to give a speech that made The Brutalist feel like a Quibi show by comparison.

Although Brody had already won for The Pianist in 2003, his recent victory is something of a comeback. Apart from the occasional Wes Anderson film, Brody’s cinematic output in the past decade or so hasn’t been terribly memorable. And perhaps the best evidence of just how low Brody’s...

Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd has said that he wishes Graham Linehan was writing more after The It Crowd creator claimed he was canceled for his transgender views.

O’Dowd shot to fame in The It Crowd and told The Times of London that he still gets a lot of love for the comedy, which was broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 between 2006 and 2013.

The Irish actor said he remains in contact with Linehan and wishes the writer had not been shunned by the industry after expressing gender-critical beliefs.

“I wish he was writing more, and I wish he was in the industry more. I think he’s the best comedy writer I’ve worked with,” O’Dowd said.

How Greg Gutfeld Became the Bill Maher of Fox News — And Toppled Fallon and Colbert in the Ratings
Image
On a Tuesday in February, Hollywood is in the throes of a “Bonfire of the Vanities” moment. Karla Sofía Gascón’s old social media posts, with shocking takes on George Floyd (“a drug addict swindler”) and Islam (“an infection for humanity that urgently needs to be cured”), are roiling awards season and have turned the actress into a pariah. But the “Emilia Pérez” star, the first openly trans person nominated for an acting Oscar, is also a tricky subject to satirize.

Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert have ignored the conflagration that has engulfed this year’s standard-bearing #Resistance film. The task is left to Greg Gutfeld, whose eponymous Fox News show has made him the most-watched man in late night.

During a taping of his top-rated “Gutfeld!,” he scrolls through the offending tweets and booms dramatically, “The more I read of these, the more I’m starting to like this broad.

‘SNL50’ Review: NBC’s Nostalgic, Irreverent Tribute Makes the Case for the Comedy Institution’s Legacy
Image
“Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th anniversary with a three-and-a-half-hour Sunday night primetime special, because there were too many stars to fit into 90 minutes.

Lorne Michaels’ sketch comedy institution has been part of the fabric of American culture for so long that it can be easy to take for granted how unique its run has been. “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” served as a star-studded reminder of how singular the show is — how long it’s been relevant, how many stars it has produced and how many catchphrases it has embedded into the collective vocabulary. The special was a cavalcade of sketches, celebrity guests and “SNL” history that celebrated the past while keeping an eye on the present.

Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter opened the show with a rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound,” which Simon performed on the show with Paul McCartney in 1976.. Then 16-time host Steve Martin got to do the monologue,...

Drew Barrymore Celebrates '50 First Dates' 21st Anniversary Adam Sandler Image
Image
Drew Barrymore is taking her Instagram followers on a trip down memory lane to celebrate the 21st anniversary of her beloved rom-com 50 First Dates. On Instagram, Barrymore shared a sweet throwback from the film, featuring co-star Adam Sandler. The 2004 movie, directed by Peter Segal, follows Barrymore's Lucy Whitmore, a woman with short-term memory loss. Sandler's Henry Roth had the romantic (and unique) task of making her fall in love with him again and again... and again. Barrymore's Instagram post, captioned "Throwing it back" with a tag for Sandler, features the pair in costume from the iconic scene where Henry serenades Lucy with "Forgetful Lucy."

50 First Dates landed in theaters on February 13, 2004, and was a box office success, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide. While it didn't exactly impress critics (the film holds a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), the chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore was undeniable.

'50 First Dates' is Toping the Streaming Chart Ahead of Valentine's Day
Image
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's second rom-com together is climbing the streaming chart, as 50 First Dates sits at number five on the Prime Video chart. It's a great Valentine's Day date night movie and has plenty of charm and emotion. The movie follows a vet in Hawaii named Henry (Sandler) who falls for Lucy (Barrymore) with short-term memory loss. Basically, she forgets everything that happened the day before when she wakes up.

Her father and brother, played by Blake Clarke and a hilarious Sean Astin, are very protective of Lucy. Since she's "stuck" in the day she lost her memory in an accident, they attempt to play along with the idea that she wasn't in an accident. But love blooms between Henry and Lucy, despite his having to woo her constantly.

The film opened 21 years ago, on Feb. 13, 2004, just in time for Valentine's Day, and became an instant crowd-pleaser...

Fox acquires podcast company; will new streamer carry podcasts?

5 Failed Attempts to Americanize Hit British Sitcoms
Image
Why in the name of all that’s funny do American producers try to adapt British sitcoms for U.S. audiences? The easy answer: Sometimes, it works. Norman Lear’s All in the Family and Sanford and Son were huge hits based on U.K. comedies, while the American version of The Office is arguably the most successful (or at least the most imitated) sitcom of the century.

But alongside those successes are a series of miserable failures that got lost in translation. Here are five examples of failed American versions of classic British sitcoms…

1 Fawlty Towers

In 2000, the British Film Institute ranked Fawlty Towers first on its list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes, and Channel 4 had Basil Fawlty number two on its list of the 100 Greatest Television Characters. With its simple premise — an uptight dolt runs a dysfunctional hotel — Fawlty Towers was an obvious choice for an American update.

10 Best Movies Set In Hawaii, Ranked
Image
Aloha! The natural beauty of Hawaii has long inspired and captivated filmmakers longing to show off the soaring cliffs and clear blue waters, in addition to the rich Polynesian culture. Many romantic comedies and coming-of-age films have taken advantage of the stirring imagery to evoke paradise, spirit, and dreamy tenderness. But there's tragedy and drama to be found there too, given the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, as well as the many wartime epics that have been made showing Hawaii at its most tragic.

Filming Locations Used for Wildly Different Movies
Image
Considering how many different places Hollywood makes movies about, they sure don’t like to leave home very often. Movie filming locations are, like, 80 percent L.A., 15 percent Toronto and a handful of European castles. That means it’s inevitable that locations will get reused, even in wildly different movies.

5 Harry Potter and Dumbledore Fought Cave Zombies Inside the Cliffs of Insanity

The Cliffs of Moher, on the west coast of Ireland, are the cliffs Cary Elwes failed to scale without help in The Princess Bride and also the ones Harry Potter and Dumbledore infiltrate to find Voldemort’s cursed locket in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This implies the fictional country of Guilder not only exists in the Harry Potter universe but somehow is rowing distance from Scotland.

The 5 Dumbest Comedies Starring This Year’s Oscar Nominees
Image
Congratulations to all the performers nominated for Academy Awards this morning!

While the acting nominations represent a professional pinnacle for most on the list, this is a good time to remember that many of these esteemed thespians also starred in some ridiculously dumb comedies. Here are five nominees who should be just as proud of these ludicrous laugh riots…

[subtitle]1Home Alone 2 [/subtitle]

Kieran Culkin nabbed his first Oscar nom for his supporting turn in A Real Pain, but no one knew pain like the kind Kevin delivered to the Sticky Bandits in Home Alone 2. Macaulay’s younger brother and his gigantic eyeglasses don’t have a ton of screen time in this sequel, but he steals the show every time he turns up. Hopefully, he’s still cashing those Pepsi checks.

Sarah Silverman’s Tampon Prank Stayed on ‘SNL’ Dressing Room Walls for Years
Image
During Sarah Silverman’s single season as a featured player on Saturday Night Live, she rarely found herself in sketches. The reality? At 22, Silverman just wasn’t ready for prime time. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t leave her mark on the show — literally.

Silverman has given various accounts of her SNL experience over the years. She was famously fired by fax, and in her memoir The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee, she lamented that “by some fluke, my genius is overlooked, 25 weeks in a row.” But in this week’s Tonight Show conversation with Jimmy Fallon, she described her SNL year as “great — I loved it.”

Her youth defined her experience. “I had a great time. You know, I got along with everybody, and I was scrappy,” she told Fallon. “I just remember being shocked at how grown-ups behaved. I just remember just thinking — because I was a kid,...

Bill Burr Loved It When This Comedian Got Booed on Stage
Image
Being booed isn’t typically an indication that a comedy show has gone well, hence the reason why Rob Schneider isn’t currently headlining any Canadian hospital fundraisers. But button pushing stand-up comedian and Billy Corgan lookalike Bill Burr recently revealed that one of his favorite gigs of all time found his fellow comics being relentlessly heckled.

During a recent appearance on Wtf with Marc Maron, Burr and Maron chatted about the time they appeared together at “Comics Come Home,” the annual Boston charity show co-founded by Dennis Leary. This prompted Burr to recall when he performed at the event in November 2016. “I went up one year, and one comic — it was the first time Trump got elected — and this person went up on stage, and so trashed Trump (that) half the crowd was booing.”

While Burr didn’t volunteer the comedian’s name at first, Maron immediately knew who he was talking about,...

Every Adam Sandler Movie His Family Members Appear In (& Who They Play)
Image
Fans of the comedic star may not realize how often they see Adam Sandler's kids in his movies as well as other family members, like Sadie Sandler and Sunny Sandler, and his wife, Jacqueline. On top of starring in hit movies, Sandler produces them as well through his film production company, Happy Madison Productions. This has allowed Sandler more control over his projects, which includes embracing his desire to bring his family into his work.

Sandler's wife, Jacqueline, is an actress and a model. Besides starring in her husband's films, Jackie has appeared in movies such as The Last Summer and TV series like Kevin Can Wait. Sandler's two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, also make frequent appearances in their father's films. While some Sandler family appearances are more prominent, others can be more difficult to spot. However, every Adam Sandler movie featuring his wife Jackie, daughters Sadie Sandler and Sunny Sandler,...

10 Most Controversial Seinfeld Episodes
Image
The 90s sitcom Seinfeld famously bills itself as a "show about nothing," but more honestly, it's about the selfish impulses people feel in everyday life. The sitcom follows four friends who live in New York City: Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Kramer (Michael Richards), and George (Jason Alexander). A typical episode sees the friends grappling with problems in their personal, professional, or romantic lives.

The series regularly courted controversy by having its characters voice their opinion on cultural taboos. Most storylines saw one or more of the New Yorkers vent about an annoyance in their lives. Many of their grievances centered around their need to constrain their actions due to social standards. Oftentimes, by the end of the episode, the characters embrace their worst instincts. The show's fearless attitude made it a ratings juggernaut, but it also earned a fair amount of backlash.

Fox Nation to debut stand-up special from Tyler Fischer
Image
(Courtesy image)

Fox News Media’s streaming television platform Fox Nation is leaning further into stand-up comedy.

Next Monday, Fox Nation will debut “No Pardon Needed with Tyler Fischer,” a 45-minute special taped at Comedy Mothership, a comedy club based in Austin owned by fellow comedian Joe Rogan.

The special will see Fischer take a satirical look at the state of political affairs, using a mixture of commentary and impersonations of President-elect Donald Trump, outgoing President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Elon Musk and others.

“Delivering an unapologetic performance, Fischer captures everything from saying goodbye to the Biden years, imagining alternate political realities and more, just in time for the incoming administration to take office,” a Fox News Media spokesperson said in a statement.

Fischer is likely to be well-recognized by Fox Nation’s audience: He has appeared numerous times on “Gutfeld!,” the late night, comedy-infused talk show program...

The 10 Richest Comedians, 2025 Edition
Image
Funny business is pretty damn lucrative, at least according to Celebrity Net Worth. If we believe its numbers, a guy like Rowan (Mr. Bean) Atkinson can rack up a net worth of $150 million, and still not crack the list of the top 20 richest comedians.

Which jokesters make up the top 10? Here’s the updated list as of January 5, 2025.

10 Larry David and David Letterman (Tie)

With a net worth of about $400 million each, David and Letterman make this rich-guy version of a Late Night Top Ten list. Now that Curb Your Enthusiasm is done, is David done raking in the cash? That’s what we thought when Letterman “retired” from CBS, but the guy is everywhere.

9 Adam Sandler

The Sandman is a good candidate to keep climbing this list as Netflix can’t get enough of his collabs with old buddies like Rob Schneider and David Spade. With rehashes like this...

Bill Maher’s New HBO Special Proves He’s Nothing More Than Rob Schneider With A Thesaurus
Image
In Bill Maher’s new HBO special Is Anyone Seeing This?, the veteran comic makes the same lazy arguments Rob Schneider does anytime a podcast host offers him a mic and a chair: The Left is trying to take away his free speech, and everyone but the comic is crazy.

Granted, Maher does it with a much better vocabulary. He’s articulate and sly, plus he has the bonus of an audience that he’s indoctrinated over several years of HBO’s Real Time and his Club Random podcasts. If you’re a fan of Maher’s “common sense” rants — he’s just telling it like it is, folks — then his new special is more red meat for your comedy diet.

But even with his thesaurus and professor-lecture cadence, Maher makes comic arguments that would get you kicked off a high school debate team. He cherry-picks the most ridiculous examples of,...

‘Rick and Morty’ Fans Just Discovered That ‘Two Brothers’ Is a Real Movie
Image
A number of animated series have introduced entirely fake, yet highly memorable movies into their fictional universes. For example, The Simpsons gave us titles such as The Bloodening, Hail to the Chimp and McBain: Let’s Get Silly. Similarly, Bob’s Burgers debuted the Lone Wolf and Cub-esque samurai film franchise Hawk & Chick. And best of all, South Park depicted a number of depressingly plausible comedies in which Rob Schneider undergoes several dumb transformations.

Then there’s Rick and Morty, which once devoted an entire episode to showcasing fake pop-culture. Season One’s “Rixty Minutes” found Rick tiring of The Bachelor and hooking up a cable box that enables the family to watch TV channels from infinite realities across the universe, including a “movie about a guy eating shit,” an ultra violent Antiques Roadshow and the hit sitcom Schmoo’s the Schmloss.

Not to mention the version of Saturday Night Live...

“I’ll make something out of that”: We Still Don’t Know the Biggest Mystery Behind Sandra Bullock’s $159M Movie Scene Starring Sylvester Stallone
Image
One of the most surprising films in Sandra Bullock’s early filmography has to be Demolition Man. At a time when she gained a reputation for her rom-coms and sweet films, she starred in a project alongside Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. It is safe to say that the combination was an unlikely one.

However, the film has become somewhat of a classic, and fans have been fawning over it for years. The film had several iconic scenes that have stayed in the back of their minds; however, one seems to be the most peculiar.

For years, fans have been trying to understand the mystery behind the toilet seashells in the film, and the answer seems to have finally been revealed.

Rob Schneider Pitches Show To Fox, Conservative Version Of ‘The View’
Image
Rob Schneider has some big plans. The comedian and former Saturday Night Live star has pitched a new show to Fox that would compete with The View. Schneider wants to create an all-ladies talk show with a more conservative slant than the more liberally focused View.

Here is what Schneider has in mind and why he wants to help launch this show.

Rob Schneider Wants More Conservative Version Of The View

Rob Schneider has undergone a transformation in recent years. The former Democrat has become a Republican and fully supports incoming President Donald Trump. As such, he wants to use his status as a star to help bring in more conservative forms of television entertainment.

Review: Marco Brambilla’s ‘Demolition Man’ on Arrow Video Limited Edition 4K Uhd Blu-ray
Image
Take the toughest, most ruthless cop and pit him against the most brutally sadistic criminal in a near-future Los Angeles—a hellish vision of the city that presupposes that the 1992 riots never stopped—and you’ve got a quintessential early-’90s Hollywood action film setup. Marco Brambilla’s Demolition Man starts in 1996, but after John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) and Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) are frozen in a cryogenic prison after a deadly square-off, they awaken again in 2032, only to be greeted by a sanitized, peaceful “utopia” in which swearing, smoking, meat-eating, “gasoline, uneducational toys, and anything spicy” have been banned.

With the population effectively neutered, even the cops have been reduced to enforcing petty tickets, mere shells of their former hyper-violent selves. “We’re police officers. We’re not trained to handle this kind of violence,” Rob Schneider’s Erwin asserts upon seeing the freshly unfrozen Simon take out six cops who are armed,...

Joy Behar and The View get a surprise contender with Rob Schneider’s new project
Image
If Rob Schneider gets his way with an exciting new project, The View may soon have some new competition.

Joy Behar and the ladies of The View have ruled morning television for decades with their outspoken views on topics ranging from politics to husband-and-wife spats.

Monsters and Critics reported that three ladies on the current panel do not have contracts past this season of The View, and they may be testing new faces on the panel.

Other ladies could fill Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sunny Hostin’s seats if they don’t strike a deal with ABC ahead of Season 29.

Now, news is coming out that a famous comedian plans to launch a new show that could compete with The View.

Rob Schneider, a Democrat turned Republican, has announced plans for a talk show that will directly compete with Joy Behar’s The View.

‘The View’ Set to Get Rival New Talk Show That’s Trump & Maga-Friendly

The View ladies have some competition as actor and comedian Rob Schneider has announced plans for a rival alternative to the long-running ABC daytime talk show. Appearing on Fox News @ Night on Monday, December 9, Schneider revealed that his new company, No Apologies Media, will be producing an “all-ladies talk show that won’t be like The View.” The Saturday Night Live alum said, “It will be the opposite [of The View] because this will be entertaining. It’ll be funny. It’ll have funny women on it that are going to tell jokes and tell stories, and health and wellness.” He added that the show will compete with The View, though he doesn’t know if it will air in the same time slot. The Comedy Roger Ebert Called ‘The Worst Movie Playing in Any Multiplex in America’
Image
Film critic Roger Ebert liked at least one thing about the 2002 comedy Sorority Boys. “That is the title,” he wrote. “Pause by the poster on the way into the theater. That will be your high point.”

Ebert was no fan of dumb, lowbrow comedy, with a few notable exceptions. Just ask Rob Schneider, who started a spiteful feud with the critic over his brutal reviews.

But Ebert was a sweetheart to Schneider in comparison to his take on Sorority Boys, a comedy he called “a brainless autopilot sitcom ripoff.” The film’s simple plot does sound like an episode of Tom Hanks’ Bosom Buddies: “A group of college boys dress up as girls to prove their innocence for a crime they did not commit.”

Play

A sitcom episode would have been a step up, Ebert wrote. “What is unusual about Sorority Boys is how it caves in to the...

A Jackie Chan Comedy Is One Of Disney's Biggest Box Office Flops
Image
In 2009, Disney purchased the film rights to Marvel Studios. In 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilm. In 2017, Disney purchased the 20th Century Fox library. Thanks to these major buys, Disney now owns some of the most bankable films of all time. When not adjusted for inflation, Disney also owns a controlling stake in nine out of the 10 highest-grossing movies ever, including two "Avatar" movies, "Titanic," three movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Pixar film, a "Star Wars" film, and a remake of an animated classic.

But every major hit seems to balance itself out with a major loss. Disney also has ownership of some of the biggest box office bombs of all time, as the "high risk, high reward" filmmaking model has proven unsuccessful at least as often as it has worked. Disney also owns major commercial duds like "The Marvels," "John Carter," "The Lone Ranger," "Mars Needs Moms," "Tomorrowland," "Onward," "Strange World,...

David Spade and Theo Von Are Making a Buddy Comedy
Image
Sometimes, if you want something done, you've got to do it yourself. And since Hollywood is allergic to making comedies anymore, veteran deadpan imp David Spade and podcast empresario Theo Von have joined forces to bring a genre back from the brink of extinction. Their project, Busboys, was written, produced, and self-financed by the two comedians, and will start production early next year. Spade spoke with Deadline about the project, saying:

"We are looking forward to gracing everyone with this comedy that no one asked for."

With a career that spans over 30 years, we take a look back at the former SNL star's greatest movies and rank them.

Major plot intricacies are a mystery right now, but broadly speaking, the film is set in a small Arizona town, where two friends (played by Spade and Von) think that becoming waiters will solve all their problems.
