For one full decade of 1977 to 1987, ABC could count on its comedy/drama series “The Love Boat” to bring in millions of audience members on Saturday nights. The show would have multiple story arcs (often three for a one-hour episode) with five to 10 celebrity guest stars each time. Some arcs were playing out for laughs, others for romance and the remainder could take on tough issues. The show airs daily on the Decades network and on Sunday afternoons for Me-tv. You can also stream every episode on Paramount+.

Dancing with the Stars‘ competitor Barry Williams is one of the most beloved classic television celebrities. For those who grew up in the 1970s and beyond, his work on The Brady Bunch remains must-see TV for its wholesome portrayal of a blended American family. However, he may hold a different distinction within his fictional television clan: is Barry the oldest living member of the original Brady Bunch cast?
Barry Williams played the oldest Brady brother, Greg, on ‘The Brady Bunch’
Barry Williams’ role as Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch instantly made him one of TV’s most recognizable faces. Alongside co-stars Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, Ann B. Davis, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Susan Olsen, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland, The Brady Bunch became a cultural phenomenon that ran for five seasons on the ABC network.

Anyone who grew up in the 1970s can tell you the story of a lovely lady, who was bringing up three very lovely girls, and a man named Brady, who was busy with three boys of his own. Of course, one day, the lady met this fellow, and the rest is TV history. When Carol Martin (Florence Henderson) married Mike Brady (Robert Reed), all six of their children came together, along with their trusty maid Alice (Ann B. Davis), to become the sitcom family known as "The Brady Bunch."
"The Brady Bunch" is one of the most beloved and memorable sitcoms of all time. The adolescent antics of Greg (Barry Williams), Peter (Christopher McKnight), Bobby (Mike Lookinland), Marcia (Maureen McCormick), Jan (Eve Plumb), and Cindy (Susan Olsen) made for plenty of comedy and drama as the bunch dealt with the trials and tribulations of a blended family, sibling rivalries, growing up,...

Dancing with the Stars viewers are calling foul on judges Carrie Ann Inaba, head judge Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. They claim the trio was “underscoring” beloved TV star Barry Williams after a lively Cha Cha for Latin Night. Fans believe “they did him dirty” by giving the entertainer scores that placed him toward the bottom of the leaderboard.
Fans believe judges were ‘underscoring’ Barry Williams’ on his challenging Cha Cha
Dancing with the Stars Season 32 cast member Barry Williams entered week two of DWTS facing a challenging Cha Cha for Latin Night. Peta Murgatroyd trained Williams in the dance, incorporating small, quick steps rather than long glides across the dance floor.
In a video package accompanying William’s Cha Cha, Peta Murgatroyd and other competing couples celebrated Williams’ 69th birthday in a DWTS rehearsal room. The former Brady Bunch star admitted a great birthday gift would be high scores from the judges.

HGTV has sold The Brady Bunch house and it did so at below the asking price and below the price they paid when they purchased it back in 2018.
The Los Angeles home served as the exterior shot of the popular 1970s sitcom. HGTV bought the home and renovated the interior to replicate the Hollywood sets of the comedy that starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the home sold for $3.2 million, which the cable network had listed at $5.5 million earlier this year. HGTV bought the home for $3.5 million at the time and documented the renovations with specials like A Very Brady Renovation and A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition.
Tina Trahan, a self-proclaimed fan of the show and the 1995 parody film, bought the home and said she would use the house located in Studio City for charitable events.

There was barely a dry eye in the house at the Los Angeles premiere three decades ago of HBO’s landmark AIDS’ film “And the Band Played On.” During the end credit sequence set to Elton John’s “The Last Song” was a montage of well-known people who had died of AIDS or were HIV positive including Ryan White, Rock Hudson, Anthony Perkins, Rudolf Nureyev, Arthur Ashe, Michael Bennett, Liberace, Halston, Peter Allen, Denholm Elliott, Brad Davis, Amanda Blake and Robert Reed.
No wonder emotions were running high. Deaths were rising every year. According to Social Security Administration, some 37,000 people died of HIV Illness in 1993. And it would be three years before the introduction of Haart-highly active antiretroviral therapy-that is often called the anti-hiv “cocktail.”
Based on Randy Shilts’ 1987 best-seller, “And the Band Played On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic,” the acclaimed film, which premiered on HBO on Sept.

When the 2022 Primetime Emmy nominations were revealed, Rhea Seehorn and Sydney Sweeney both had the honor of seeing their names come up twice. In addition to landing slots in the Best Drama Supporting Actress lineup for “Better Call Saul” and “Euphoria,” respectively, Seehorn (“Cooper’s Bar”) also competed for Best Short Form Actress while Sweeney (“The White Lotus”) was included among the Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress contenders. Since neither of them had been recognized by the TV academy before, they became part of a group of 24 doubly-nominated Emmy first-timers.
Neither Seehorn nor Sweeney succeeded on either of her bids, but that isn’t surprising given the fact that only six of this group’s two dozen members have actually pulled off wins. The first such victor was Robert Cummings, who also originally established the club back in 1955. He received what would now be considered the Best Limited/Movie...

Here’s the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother
The youngest one in curls
Here’s the story of a man named Brady
Who was busy with three boys of his own
They were four men living all together
Yet they were all alone
Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
And they knew that it was much more than a hunch
That this group must somehow form a family
That’s the way we all became the Brady Bunch
The Brady Bunch, the Brady Bunch
That’s the way we became the Brady Bunch

As A Lawyer, Ralph Bellamy Was Indefensible
It’s a good thing this story wasn’t part of the actual series. Otherwise we might not all be here right now.
I’m so old, I watched Perry Mason first run not on the reruns playing on every channel this side of C-span. But it’s not why I became a lawyer. Perry Mason was unrealistic. A murder trial every week where the real murderer was dumb enough to sit in the courtroom and watch. No, Perry Mason didn’t make me want to become a lawyer. The Defenders did.
The Defenders was a show about a middle-aged attorney – played by E.G. Marshall – and his fresh-out-of-law-school son – played by a young, pre-permed Robert Reed. Although the show had some murder mystery episodes, most dealt with some of the complex and serious issues of the time; abortion, religious intolerance, capital punishment, civil rights,...

Actress Florence Henderson has died at age 82 apparently from heart failure. Henderson became a beloved TV icon on the long-running sitcom "The Brady Bunch" which aired between 1969-1974. Born in Indiana, Henderson always had show business in her blood. She was a star long before the "Brady" era, having impressed Rodgers and Hammerstein with her performance in a road show production of "Oklahoma!" in 1952. The famed composers chose her to play the female lead in a Broadway revival of the play. She also made TV history as the first female guest host for "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson". However it was her role as Carol Brady that ensured her enduring popularity. The show was the first to deal with a situation in which two single parents merged their families. As the hoary old cliché goes, sometimes it’s about the journey, not the destination. This usually doesn’t apply to TV horror, which lives for the payoff; but Haunts of the Very Rich (1972) is not the usual. With this one, the payoff is all in the setup – and it’s delicious.
First airing on Wednesday, September 20th, 1972 as an ABC Movie of the Week (I know, they’re almost all ABC – what can I say? They ruled the horror roost), Haunts was up against The Carol Burnett Show/Medical Center on CBS and the NBC Mystery Movie. I’m sure a lot of folks were watching Carol, but if they scooched over to ABC they could watch Lloyd and Ed bicker in the underworld. Bridges and Asner that is – and yes, I said underworld.
Is that a spoiler? Only if you don’t watch past the first fifteen minutes.

Welcome to another weekend flashback. Flashback to The Brady Bunch TV show, cancelled in 1974 by ABC, after five moderately successful seasons. "This is how I heard about the boy, Kunta Kinte," Alex Haley (Laurence Fishburne) tells us in the opening moments of History's new miniseries Roots. "And this is how I'll tell you the story." The importance of stories, and the way that we tell them, form the heart of the new Roots, which debuts Monday night at 9 (the eight-hour project will air over four straight nights, simulcast on History, A&E, and Lifetime). From the time we meet Kunta (Malachi Kirby) as a young man abducted from his home in Juffure, Gambia by slavers, until we leave his descendants over 100 years later in the post-Civil War American South, Roots prizes the power of stories and tradition, from how Kunta's Uncle Silla (Derek Luke) teaches him the ways of the Mandinka warrior, to how Kunta's grandson Chicken George (Rege-Jean Page) will tell his own offspring stories about the grandfather he never met,...

The Brady Bunch's Carol Brady may be one of the most iconic mothers of all time, but it turns out star Florence Henderson was just as much a loving mom off screen as the famously blended family's matriarch was on.
"We spent so many hours together with the kids, and I sort of became like a second mother to them," Henderson told People Friday on the set of Breaking Bread with Brooke Burke. "I treated them with respect. They were treated as pros and they came prepared."
She added, "I was the only person on the show that was a mother in real life.

If you’re a con-going Geek, eventually, you will accumulate this collection of stories that makes for fun conversations with fellow Geeks. Gary Cole, who currently stars on "Veep" as Selina Meyer's senior strategist Kent Davidson, is -- for those who've been keeping track -- one of the most eclectic and slyly kooky performers alive. The 58-year-old actor netted his first major nomination last year (an Emmy nod for guest-acting on "Veep"), but his career has been a long, ascending spiral of dead-eyed caricatures and commanding dramatic roles. His august screen presence suggests a comfort playing white-collar blowhards, but that's the magic of Gary Cole: He's absolutely comfortable playing anything. That's pretty astounding when you realize he's played everything. Interviews with Cole, including ours from 2014's PaleyFest below, reveal that he's not a Crispin Glover type who's as unnerving (and nervous-making) as many of his signature roles. In fact, he kind of seems like a milder version of Kent. Perhaps it's his education at Illinois State University alongside fellow thespian veterans...

Snickers released a great Super Bowl commercial that is set in the classic TV series The Brady Bunch, only it features an ax-wielding Danny Trejo in the place of Marcia and Steve Buscemi in the place of Jan. The two actors were edited into a scene with Mike (Robert Reed) and Carol Brady (Florence Henderson).
The commercial makes reference to two classic scenes from show. The first one is when Marcia had her nose broken by a football before a big date, and the other is when a frustrated Jan screams, “Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!” It's a pretty funny and entertaining commercial.
I also included a video showing the process of creating the commercial.

Emmy-winning actress Ann B. Davis, who became the country's favorite and most famous housekeeper as the devoted Alice Nelson of "The Brady Bunch," died Sunday at a San Antonio hospital. She was 88.
Bexar County, Texas, medical examiner's investigator Sara Horne said Davis died Sunday morning at University Hospital. Horne said no cause of death was available and that an autopsy was planned Monday.
Bill Frey, a retired bishop and a longtime friend of Davis, said she suffered a fall Saturday at her San Antonio home and never recovered. Frey said Davis had lived with him and his wife, Barbara, since 1976.
More than a decade before scoring as the Bradys' loyal Alice, Davis was the razor-tongued secretary on another stalwart TV sitcom, "The Bob Cummings Show," which brought her two Emmys. Over the years, she also appeared on Broadway and in occasional movies.
Davis considered her ordinary look an asset.

Gary Cole feels right at home in offices, whether it’s the oval one on Veep or Initech’s corporate headquarters in Office Space, where he created his signature character, the Tps-reports-obsessed VP Bill Lumbergh (mmm-kay?). In Veep’s third-season premiere last night, Cole went full boss once again, with his political operative Kent Davison firing “West Wing Man” blogger Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons) with the line, “The party is over — there’s a dead guy in the pool, and that dead guy is you!” Vulture spoke with the 57-year-old Cole about whether he’ll return to The Good Wife, how he channeled Robert Reed’s polyester soul in the Brady Bunch movies, and what he means by the term “the Christopher Walken rule.”You played the vice-president on The West Wing. Have you given Julia Louis-Dreyfus any advice about being the Vpotus?Well, no. But that job is really ripe for comedy,...

It’s not unusual for a movie to divide reviewers. To some, The Butler, Lee Daniels’ sprint through the American civil rights movement, is “deeply moving” (Time), “brilliantly truthful” (The New York Times), “illuminating” (New York), and “honest” (Slate). But it’s also been -dismissed as “obvious,” “over-the-top,” “clunky,” “lumbering,” and “thuggish”—by the very same critics. Daniels, who won acclaim for Precious and contempt for The Paperboy, has a unique ability to stir admiration and antipathy at once; if there were a word to describe the act of applauding while wincing, he could copyright it.

It's been 39 years since "The Brady Bunch" concluded its five-season run, but rerun heaven has kept the series very much alive, and the cast's frequent reunions have allowed them to stay within reach of the spotlight. But what exactly has this lovable clan been up to since their goofy sitcom said goodbye in 1974? Most of them have popped up in a variety of TV shows and movies, but a few others have taken decidedly more low-key paths. Here's the story of what one of television's most famous families is up to today.
Florence Henderson (Carol Brady)
Current age: 79
The only member of the "Brady Bunch" cast to retain her icon status, Henderson appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2010. She currently hosts "The Florence Henderson Show," a daily talkfest on Retirement Living TV. Henderson also regularly pops up in guest-starring roles, including a gig on "Samantha Who?" that earned her an Emmy nomination.

As Cindy Brady on the hit 1970s sitcom The Brady Bunch, Susan Olsen helped show the world that a family didn't have to be traditional to be loving and supportive. It's a lesson she learned herself from Robert Reed, who played Brady Bunch patriarch Mike Brady on the series. Reed (born John Robert Rietz Jr.) was gay -- but kept his sexuality a secret for fear that it would damage his career and his reputation. In an open letter on her Facebook fan page, the now 51-year-old [...]...

Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady in The Brady Bunch, took to Facebook to write a moving tribute to the man who played her television dad, Robert Reed. "Bob was a family man. Had he been allowed to form a relationship with another man, he would have been the best husband ever and might still be alive. But Bob could not be at peace with this because the people surrounding him shoved their own judgment down his throat and, sadly, he bought into it. He thought he was wrong. He felt the shame that every hypocritical 'God is love' fundamentalist wanted him to feel."

Somerville, N.J. -- A state prosecutor on Tuesday appealed the three-year prison sentence given to a former "Melrose Place" actress for a drunken driving death, saying the judge improperly focused on the personal circumstances of the defendant, who has a sick and disabled child.
Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who appeared in 13 episodes of TV's "Melrose Place" and in movies including "Cry-Baby," "School Ties" and "Secretary," was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and assault by auto in a deadly 2010 accident.
Prosecutors say she was driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when her SUV slammed into a car driven by Fred Seeman as he was turning into his driveway in Montgomery Township, in central New Jersey. His wife, Helene, 60, was killed, and he was seriously injured.

Oh, our noses! Look, we can’t stop Vince Vaughn from executive producing a Brady Bunch reboot. Seeing as how 21 Jump Street and 90210 were already taken, it was only a matter of time before someone reached even further back into the annals of television and noodled with the classic ’70s blended-family sitcom. According to Deadline, Vaughn’s update revolves around the conceit that the original show’s “youngest son Bobby Brady is divorced and remarried to a woman who also has first-marriage kids and the couple have their own child together.” There hasn’t been any casting news as of yet, which means there is still time for Vince Vaughn to read this post and act accordingly. If we’re going to do this, dude, then let’s do this right! By including actors and actresses like…

Vince Vaughn is to produce a reboot of classic comedy The Brady Bunch. The sitcom - which originally aired on ABC between 1969 and 1974 - followed architect Mike (Robert Reed), his new wife Carol (Florence Henderson), his three sons and her three daughters as they formed a single family unit. The new Brady Bunch has been written by Mike Mariano (My Name Is Earl) and is in development at CBS. The show will follow Bobby - the youngest Brady child - who now has a 'blended' family of his own with a divorcee and also shares a child with his new wife. Mike Brady, "The Brady Bunch" (ABC, 1969-74): Even with a new wife and three new stepdaughters under the same roof as his own three sons, Robert Reed's Mike was so inexplicably laid back and unruffled in the face of any family crisis that some comics joked he must have been stoned, or at least comfortably medicated. Whatever, it seemed to work. Stepdaughter Marcia even nominated him for a local Father of the Year award!

A New Jersey Superior Court judge decided that pro-Nazi parents Heath and Deborah Campbell cannot have their four kids back, three of whom were named in honor of Nazis. And you thought some celebrity kid names were bad! Adolf Hitler Campbell, 6, and his younger sisters Joycelynn Aryan Nation, 4, and Honszlynn Hinler, 4, and 6-month-old Hons Campbell will not be returned to their parents Heath and Deborah Campbell after a long battle. The father, Heath, questioned Superior Court Judge Robert Reed’s decision to keep the children in state custody. "These kids weren’t abused. Our kids weren’t taken because of abuse," he said to nj.com on May 29. "I’m honest about who I am and what I am." The three older kids were taken away in January 2009 when a store refused to decorate a birthday cake for Adolf Hitler, the oldest child, who was then 3-years old. Little Hons...

Christiane Schmidtmer has a layover with Jerry Lewis (l.) and Tony Curtis in Boeing Boeing.
The 1965 bedroom farce film Boeing Boeing, starring Jerry Lewis (The Nutty Professor) and Tony Curtis (Insignificance), is actually based on the 1960 French play of the same name by Marc Camoletti. (The play was revived in London’s West End and on Broadway a few years back to much success.)
The comedy movie follows the lives of two American journalists in Paris, Bernard Lawrence (Curtis) and his friend Robert Reed (Lewis). Bernard, the ultimate bachelor, is juggling romances with three stewardesses who just happen to have different schedules and nationalities. Robert, meanwhile, is scheming to take over for his buddy after Bernard’s job relocates him to another country. Lots of zany situations, close calls and bedroom door-slamming inevitably follows.

Chicago – Dennis Farina is Chicago. Born and raised in the Windy City, his persona and manner is everything Chicago – bold, classy and the true urban Midwest. His latest film is “The Last Rites of Joe May,” which features another actor who got his start in Chicago theater, Gary Cole.
Last month, at the Chicago International Film Festival, both actors did a press day promoting their gritty Chicago-based film, which was directed by Joe Maggio. “The Last Rites of Joe May” stars Farina in the role of a lifetime, permeating the wintry streets of Chicago as an aging small time hustler that everyone assumes is dead after he comes back from an extended hospital stay. Gary Cole has a small but significant role as Lenny, a neighborhood boss.

The creator of Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch
In the 1960s, no one had his finger closer to the pulse of the great American television-watching public than Sherwood Schwartz, who has died aged 94. Schwartz created both Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch, two shows that defied critical opprobrium to become hits, and through endless sequels and repeats in syndication have become icons of their era.
Looking back, it is possible to find some cultural weight in each. Gilligan, which, as its theme song, co-written by Schwartz, explained, was the tale of seven people on a "three-hour cruise" who wind up cast away on a lost island, was sold to the CBS network as "a microcosm, but a funny microcosm", and it made its debut in 1964.

You know Sherwood Schwartz as the writer/producer who created The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island, who reminded that balls shouldn't be thrown in the house, who made the case for overpacking for a three-hour boat tour, and who basically defined your tube-spent youth. Schwartz died today at age 94. Here are five things you may not know about a TV icon whose shows you knew, and loved, so well: 1. He Wanted Gene Hackman to Play Mike Brady: As Schwartz once told us, his idea didn't get anywhere with the network suits, who preferred a familiar primetime face to a middle-aged character actor. Enter Robert Reed. And as much as Reed feuded with Schwartz over Brady Bunch scripts, you'd...

Though openly-gay Newsweek journalist Ramin Setoodeh’s infamous 2010 article “Straight Jacket” was certainly a misguided piece of criticism, it unfortunately brought to light an all-too-common misconception held by both Hollywood decision makers and members of the public at large – that gay actors are incapable of adequately portraying straight characters on-screen.
History, of course, shows that ludicrous assertion to be entirely false – particularly considering the number of closeted gay actors from earlier eras who vaulted to stardom specifically because they were able to convincingly portray straight romantic leads.
Of course, those were much more intolerant times – times in which actors were continuously pressured to hide their sexuality for fear they’d be rejected if the truth came out (a sadly valid point in those days). Now, however – while we still have a long way to go – there’s an emerging crop of openly-gay actors who are proving it’s possible to...

Last week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.
As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.
"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)
"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight.
