Exclusive: The Latino Film Institute has announced the lineup for the 24th edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (Laliff), from May 28 through June 1, 2025, at the Tcl Chinese Theatres. This year’s festival will feature the return of the Laliff Eastside programming at Regal L.A. Live, the Laliff Film Market, and an expanded Laliff Industry Forum.

The festival will open with Asco: Without Permission, written and directed by Travis Gutiérrez Senger, executive produced by Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, and featuring special appearances by Zoe Saldaña and Michael Peña. Francis Ford Coppola received a big honor this weekend!

The 86-year-old legendary filmmaker was honored with the 50th annual AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to someone “whose talent has in a fundamental way advanced the film art; whose accomplishment has been acknowledged by scholars, critics, professional peers and the general public’ and whose work has stood the test of time.”

Several stars stepped out to help honor Francis at the award ceremony held at Dolby Theatre on Saturday (April 26) in Hollywood, including Harrison Ford, Elle Fanning and Josh Groban, who performed during the event.

Mia is the airport code for Miami. The SoFla area consists of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties.

The series comes from studio MRC (Poker Face), with Karen Campbell serving as executive producer and showrunner. Alethea Jones will direct and executive produce. Dubuque will write Episode 101 and executive produce alongside Campbell and Jones, who will also direct.

M.I.A. is the latest series to explore SoFla’s seedy underbelly including Chris Brancato’s Hotel Cocaine—based on Compte’s father’s life— for MGM+ and two Netflix series: the Sofia Vergara-led Griselda and the early seasons of Narcos focused on Pablo Escobar, both with executive producers including Eric Newman, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. Brett Goldstein might be one of the more underrated players in movies and TV series. He doesn't just act, either. Nor does he only act and write. He creates, and what he comes up with are some excellent and highly entertaining ideas.

Many might know him from playing Roy Kent on the Apple TV series, Ted Lasso. Kent is a good-hearted menace. He is not easy to please, but he will help those in need. Goldstein plays the character dynamically and exceptionally well.

Some might know him from another Apple TV series, Shrinking. His part is minor on that show (he doesn't appear until season two), but essential. Netflix also shared the news on their official Twitter/X account, revealing that Edward will once again be playing Jennifer‘s father!

This on-screen reunion comes nearly 30 years after Jennifer portrayed Selena Quintanilla in 1997′s Selena: The Movie, and Edward played her father, Abraham Quintanilla.

Office Romance is an upcoming romantic comedy for Netflix, which will not only star Brett Goldstein, but he’s also co-writing the film with Joe Kelly.

Disney's Bob Iger announced that a sequel to Pixar's acclaimed 2017 Academy Award-winner, Coco, is officially in development during The Walt Disney Company’s annual meeting of shareholders.

“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure,” said Iger. “And we can't wait to share more soon.”

Exciting news for fans of the original tear-jerker, but we're going to be waiting a while to see Coco 2, as it's currently scheduled for a 2029 theatrical release.

The fantasy romance book series A Court of Thorns and Roses, by author Sarah J. Maas, has sold over 13 million copies since the first book was released in 2015. Four years ago, Hulu, along with Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, optioned the book series for a television series adaptation. However, per Deadline, Hulu and 20th Television have axed the project.

The Library of Congress is back to share one of the most-anticipated lists of the year: its selection of movies that will be placed in the National Film Registry for preservation.

This year’s collection of movies that the United States National Film Preservation Board has deemed as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” span from 1895 to 2010, with the public nominating more than 6,700 titles for consideration. Among the highlights are Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Dirty Dancing (1987), Spy Kids (2001), No Country for Old Men (2007), and the newest film added to the registry, David Fincher’s social media drama The Social Network (2010).

“Films reflect our nation’s history and culture and must be preserved in our national library for generations to come. We’re honored by the responsibility to add 25 diverse new films to the National Film Registry each year as we work to preserve our cultural heritage,” Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden said in a statement.

An Eddie Murphy classic, a landmark horror flick, and a timeless Eighties romance are among the films joining the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for preservation.

The Blue Bloods series finale was a wild affair as a gang began a series of attacks in a plot for amnesty for their members. That included gunning down Mayor Chase, who, in his hospital bed, gave Frank the “keys to the city” to do whatever it took to quiet the chaos.

Eddie and Badillo were also attacked, Eddie wounded while Badillo was tragically killed. Jamie and Joe teamed up to hunt down the killer, and Eddie got the honor of cuffing the guy.

Frank had his hands full trying to stop the gang war, eventually getting an imprisoned leader (Edward James Olmos) to help quiet things down. Meanwhile, Danny and Baez discovered that foe Carlos had abducted his daughter after she called Eddie for help.
