The number of actors the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai has brought back to reprise their characters from the Karate Kid films has been very impressive. Not only do you have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka back as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, but there’s also Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith as villains John Kreese and Terry Silver, Yuji Okumoto and Sean Kanan as villains-turned-allies Chozen Toguchi and Mike Barnes; Ron Thomas, Rob Garrison, and Tony O’Dell as Johnny’s former Cobra Kai buddies; and appearances by Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. They even brought Traci Toguchi back as Yuna, the “Girl Bell Ringer” she played in The Karate Kid Part II. But one actor who might not be returning from the films is Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in the 1994 film The Next Karate Kid.

One of the most stunning moments in NCIS history came early on in the show’s run. In the season 2 finale, Sasha Alexander’s Agent Caitlin Todd was abruptly killed off. The character was shot in the head by a rogue Mossad officer named Ari Haswari (Rudolf Martin).
The shock death of a major character left NCIS fans reeling – and wondering why the show’s writers would kill off Agent Todd. In the past, Alexander has said that her departure was due to the show’s grueling workload. Once the show’s writers knew she wanted to leave, they decided to give her the most dramatic exit possible, insiders explained to The Hollywood Reporter in a recent oral history of the show.

Toward the end of National Anthem, D’Angelo Lacy in splendiferous drag sings a powerful a cappella rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” while an assembled group of Queer Rodeo competitors and spectators stand in reverent silence through that hymn of patriotism, hands on hearts. Given that the recently passed Tennessee bill banning drag performances is looking to spread through red states and legitimize transphobic discrimination, the scene takes on added poignancy. That helps bolster the emotional heft of first-time writer-director Luke Gilford’s gentle New Mexico-set story of self-discovery in a chosen family.
Gilford knows the setting well. He grew up in the Southwest, with fond memories of attending rodeos with his father as a kid, only later becoming aware of how homophobic and narrow — white, Christian conservative, macho — mainstream rodeos could be. Returning after years of studying art and working in New York, Gilford discovered the International Gay Rodeo Association,...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
In "Cobra Kai" season 5, Terry Silver's (Thomas Ian Griffith) dojo had some international visitors. If you recall, Silver took over Cobra Kai after the All-Valley Tournament at the end of season 4, opening several franchises with state-of-the-art equipment and very shady business practices. Silver has some big plans for his evil dojo dominion, including competing in an international tournament called the Sekai Taikai. He invites a delegation from the tournament to his flagship dojo for a demonstration and possible acceptance into the competition.
If Cobra Kai's students win there, it could change everything, putting the final nail in the coffins of Eagle Fang/Miyagi Do. At the last minute, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) show up. After a display of karate prowess from all dojos, the delegation accepts both sides into the competition.

This Cobra Kai article contains spoilers for season 5.
Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), and Sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) aren’t the only carry overs from the original three Karate Kid films. Far from it, Cobra Kai has been masterfully tapping its source by bringing back cast members from the movies, regularly serving the fans up with colorful Easter eggs.
Some of the original characters, like Lucille Larusso (Randee Heller), Daniel’s mom, have appeared throughout Cobra Kai. She has been seen in seasons 1, 2, and 4, which is more than she was seen in the latter two Karate Kid films. The original Cobra Kai gang from The Karate Kid Part I, Bobby (Ron Thomas), Jimmy (Tony O’Dell), and Tommy (Rob Garrison) were reunited with Johnny in season 2 in one of the most poignant episodes of the entire show – the death of Tommy. Major spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 5 follow.Nine months after its shocking Season 4 finale, Netflix's teen karate juggernaut, "Cobra Kai," returns with an epic 5th season. With John Kreese (Martin Kove) now imprisoned for assault and Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) opening Cobra Kai dojos throughout the Valley, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) joins forces with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and another of his former enemies Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) to defeat the toxic dojo once and for all.
There's been no official word if the dynamic series will continue, but co-creator Jon Hurwitz has teased a possible Season 6, and Macchio has confirmed that he's open to more ideas. Though Season 5 could serve as the story's overall conclusion, we will likely see more from the "Cobra Kai" extended universe in years to come. For now, there's no shortage of memorable moments in the newest season. Although it takes a few episodes to find its footing,...

Netflix's teen karate sensation returns to the streaming giant with an epic season 5 that could easily serve as the show's overall conclusion. This Cobra Kai article contains spoilers for season 5.
When it comes to the original Karate Kid films, The Karate Kid Part III is unquestionably the worst installment of the trilogy. Part I launched the franchise. Part II took it to Okinawa. Part III nearly killed it. Even Daniel-san himself, Ralph Macchio, rejected the film.
“I was not a fan of how the Karate Kid III came out,” Macchio said to The Hollywood Reporter last January. “I felt the story was only repeating itself and was not character forwarding for the end of Larusso.”
Macchio went on to say it wasn’t a smooth ride for him and that there were parts of the character he didn’t embrace. “I don’t put it on the top of my résumé.”
Is Macchio (and mostly everyone else’s) estimation of Karate Kid III a fair one? And if so, is there any...

Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
In the Netflix series "Cobra Kai," Thomas Ian Griffith plays the villain Terry Silver, a role he originated in "The Karate Kid Part III." That film is usually considered very low in the rankings of "Karate Kid" entries. While that may be true, Silver in his current form is a baddie we love to hate.
Terry Silver was a Vietnam War buddy of John Kreese (Martin Kove). The martial artist helped Kreese create the Cobra Kai dojo, but he was also a wealthy businessman whose job it was to dump toxic waste in the third film. His company was called Dynatox, if that helps you get a sense of the level of camp we're dealing with here. Silver did business from his hot tub and faked his way into Daniel Larusso's (Ralph Macchio) life. He pretended to be a sensei, but was really working for Kreese the entire time.

Major spoilers ahead for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
"Cobra Kai" season 5 is finally here, and it's been a rough road for Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Amanda Larusso (Courtney Henggeler). Daniel's obsession with Cobra Kai and the evil Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) has caused friction between the couple before, but in season 5, episode 5, "Extreme Measures," it made her leave with the kids to visit her mother in Ohio. While Amanda is there, she meets up with her cousin Jessica. Does the name sound familiar to you? In the scene, Jessica reveals that she knows Terry Silver, and that he is absolutely as bad as Daniel has been saying. Plus, Jessica was the person who introduced Amanda to Daniel in the first place.
Yes, Amanda's cousin is Jessica Andrews, played by Robyn Lively, and she starred with Ralph Macchio in "The Karate Kid Part III." Let's break down who Jessica Andrews is,...

Daniel Larusso is no stranger to romance. In "The Karate Kid," his crush on Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) girlfriend Ali Mills (Elizabeth Shue) is what gets him into trouble in the first place. Determined to win her heart and give Johnny a beating in the process (Johnny sympathizer over here!), Daniel sets out to master the art of karate, which is a pretty crazy and impressive thing to do for love. Because this is Hollywood, he ends up getting the girl and the first place trophy, but by "The Karate Kid Part II," he and Ali have parted ways.
Clearly not too heartbroken over the breakup, Daniel embarks on a journey to Okinawa with Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) where he meets Yukie, Miyagi's former crush, and her charming niece Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita). He then spends the rest of the film trying to win over Kumiko's heart with his sick karate moves and American charm.

You don't need a pair of jeans to prove that there's something special between Blake Lively and Robyn Lively. When the Gossip Girl alum turned 35 on Aug. 25, her half-sister Robyn celebrated the occasion with a sweet photo montage of the pair throughout the years. In a tribute posted to Instagram, the Teen Witch star wrote, "Awww you're my best friend." "Now everyone knows you're barely barely younger than me," Robyn continued. "Happy Birthday sweet sissy, you're kinda special to me." The video, set to Queen's "You're My Best Friend," comes nearly two weeks after Blake hit up Disneyland with Robyn for an early birthday...

It’s summer — and Blake Lively is having a blast. The actress took to Instagram ahead of her 35th birthday with a picturesque snap of herself poolside.
The star smiled in a white bikini against a backdrop of palm trees and sunshine. “Summer lovin’ …had me a blast,” she captioned the post, a reference to “Grease”‘s “Summer Nights.”
Lively’s comment section was filled with compliments, including from celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, who wrote back, “With a body like that I’d have a blast all year round.”
“Ok smoke show,” her sister, Robyn Lively, commented.
As for her husband, Ryan Reynolds, the “Deadpool” star weighed in with a punchline — as he’s known to do. “Wrexham is the Ibiza of Wales,” the actor quipped, seemingly revealing the photo was taken abroad.
While it’s unclear what brought the star to the U.K., the reason is possibly connected...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Child Care,” Monday’s episode of “9-1-1: Lone Star.”
Baby made three for Judd (Jim Parrack) and Grace (Sierra McClain) on last week’s “9-1-1: Lone Star” — and on Monday’s episode, an estranged teen son and his mother made five. Totally unbeknownst to Judd and Grace, he had a son Wyatt (Jackson Pace) with Marlene Harris (Robyn Lively), a barrel racer he can hardly remember having met at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in 2005.
On Monday’s “9-1-1: Lone Star,” that boy comes to find Judd with the help of an online DNA ancestry website and Judd and Grace, just getting the hang of taking care of newborn daughter Charlie following her birth at the tail end of the Fox drama’s weeks-long ice-storm plot.

And just like that, Judd suddenly had a baby daughter and a grown son.

Robyn Lively is fantastic as tough-but-vulnerable Charlie, reeling from the disappearance of her daughter, but the storyline lets her down
With this small-town gothic murder mystery director and co-writer Lauren Fash overdoes it with the missing-kid tropes: a grieving mom fighting for the truth; police corruption; buried secrets; a powerful family controlling the town; rusting pickup trucks; mean dudes with mullets. But there is just about enough psychological complexity in the mix in the shape of the central character Charlie, a gay woman winded by the disappearance of her eight-year-old daughter Lily. Charlie marches about town stapling missing posters to lamp-posts in the midst of an emotional breakdown or maybe even a psychotic episode – hallucinating, seeing her daughter in dark corners.
Set in Georgia in the 1990s, the film opens a year after Lily vanishes. Tough but vulnerable Charlie is played beautifully by character actor Robyn Lively (half-sister of Blake) with a riveting less-is-more stillness.

"Charlie, there's something you should know..." "I trusted you!" Blue Fox has released an official trailer for an indie mystery thriller titled Through the Glass Darkly, marking the feature debut of producer Lauren Fash. This first premiered at the San Diego Film Festival last year, and also played at the Red Rock Film Fest, arriving on VOD in September. Set in a small town in Georgia called Elrod, the film is described as an "offbeat Southern Gothic thriller." A year after a girl disappears, another goes missing. Convinced there is a connection, Charlie draws suspicion and contempt from local police & townspeople as she stops at nothing to expose its most devastating and darkest secret. Robyn Lively stars, with Michael Trucco, Shanola Hampton, Katrina Norman, Judith Ivey, Bethany Anne Lind, Kerry Cahill, Nicholas Logan, and Vince Foster. This looks quite intense, overloading on suspense and dread to tell this story of dark secrets.

The CW's live-action iteration of The Powerpuff Girls has hit another snag.
Chloe Bennet is out of the pilot, according to Variety.
The role of Blossom will be recast.
Powerpuff was in development for the 2021-22 TV season on the young-skewing network, but the channel opted to retool the series post-pilot.
“Sometimes things miss, and this was just a miss,” CW Chairman & CEO Mark Pedowitz told reporters earlier this year.
“We believe in the cast completely, we believe in Diablo [Cody] and Heather [Regnier], the writers, and we believe in the auspices of [executive producer] Greg Berlanti and Warner [Bros.] Studios."
"In this case, the pilot didn’t work. But because we see enough elements in there, we’re going to give it another shot. We didn’t want to go forward with what we had.”

The CW’s Powerpuff live-action pilot has lost one of its crimefighters as star Chloe Bennet exits from the project, Deadline has confirmed.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum was set to star as Blossom, opposite Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault who will appear as Bubbles and Buttercup, respectively. Sources say that the actress did not sign a new deal to stay on the project due to scheduling issues. Cameron and Perrault will stay on as the remaining Powerpuff Girls but the search for a new Blossom will begin in the coming months.
Her exit from the reboot comes about three months after The CW’s Mark Pedowitz explained that the live-action pilot will be reworked.

Chloe Bennet has stepped down as one of the three leads in the live-action CW pilot based on “The Powerpuff Girls,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Bennet was set to star as Blossom in the pilot, which is currently titled “Powerpuff.” The show was originally in contention during pilot season earlier this year for a potential fall air date, but The CW made the decision to redevelop and reshoot it instead, with CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz calling the first pilot “a miss.”

While some new titles are set to premiere on The CW as part of its 2021-2022 fall slate, the anticipated Powerpuff live-action reboot did not make the cut and will be reworked and repiloted. The CW’s Mark Pedowitz expanded on the decision, noting that holding the series back will provide an opportunity to do right by it.
