As noted by TikTok user @theshannonduke0, whose video has subsequently been shared across nearly every corner of social media, the version of 2010's Robin Hood available for streaming on Prime Video has had its opening scrawl completely cut from the film. Ordinarily, the film would feature the words, "In times of tyranny and injustice when law oppresses the people, the outlaw takes his place in history," during its opening moments, yet the Prime Video cut features only a blank, yellowed bit of parchment.

“Sgt. Rock,” to be directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by his “Challengers” and “Queer” collaborator Justin Kuritzkes, is no longer moving forward at DC Studios, TheWrap has exclusively learned. Colin Farrell, already a part of the DC Comics universe thanks to his role as The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and the HBO spinoff series “The Penguin,” was in talks to play the title character after Daniel Craig dropped out.

The issue, one insider noted, came down to scheduling. The film, which would require a lot of exterior shoots, needed to start production this summer and wasn’t going to make its date. Budget didn’t appear to be an issue — it was meant to come in under $70 million, which for a high-priority comic book adaptation, is a bargain.

There is very little that is remarkable about Taylor Hackford's 2013 actioner "Parker" starring Jason Statham. The title character is, like so many action movie protagonists before him, defined largely by his taciturn and steely demeanor and doesn't have a lot of whimsy or personality beyond that. Parker is a thief, but he is defined by an unshakable code of ethics and believes in sticking to well laid-out plans. He's not a hothead or impulsive. In other words: he's kind of boring. It also doesn't help that "Parker" has a predictable plot stretched out across a dull screenplay. The film came and went without fanfare, a January release to its very core.

Fairly recently on the Film Stories podcast (in this episode here), I dug into the story of 2001’s much-loved A Knight’s Tale. Directed by Brian Helgeland and with a cast led by the much-missed Heath Ledger, it’s a really entertaining blockbuster, that’s very much stood the test of time. Attempts to get a sequel off the ground have failed, but there’s now a stage musical, and – relevant to this story – the film is making its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut.

In a lot of cases, the reaction to a given film from the moviegoing public mirrors the critical response to said motion picture. That makes a certain amount of sense because even though there’s a level of objectivity at play with cinema, a bad movie is a bad movie. However, there are still those occasions where the masses connect with a flick for which critics have absolutely no time. The Denzel Washington thriller Man on Fire is an excellent example of that.

Rotten Tomatoes has amalgamated 167 reviews from film scholars and the picture holds a below-average critical approval rating of 38%. However, the flick’s user rating is a far more positive at 89%. That’s quite the divide. Yet, that audience score is not an anomaly. The picture’s IMDb user rating is also well above average at 7.7/10. Holy cow!

Physical media enthusiasts who have been jousting to get their hands on a 4K release of A Knight's Talehave reason to celebrate because Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced a new collectible steelbook that includes fully restored versions of both the Extended and Theatrical cuts of the rock-and-roll comedy, which stars Heath Ledger as the charming William Thatcher.

As reported by ComicBook.com, the 4K Blu-ray of A Knight's Tale will be released on May 20, 2025, with plenty of extras for movie fans to explore. Salt is now streaming on Peacock. Directed by Phillip Noyce, the movie stars Jolie as the eponymous Evelyn Salt, a CIA operative who, after being accused of being a sleeper agent for the Kgb, goes on the run to clear her name. In a new appearance on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Pearce reflected for the first time on his experience working with Spacey. The actor noted that, in the wake of the #MeToo movement, he had a "wake-up" call about all his encounters with Spacey on set. Guy Pearce, known for his role in L.A. Confidential, recently shared how close the movie came to getting a sequel. Released in 1997 and based on James Ellroy’s novel, the crime drama helped launch the international careers of Australian actors Russell Crowe and Pearce.

The film was a major hit, earning nine Academy Award nominations and winning two, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.

In a chat with Business Insider, Pearce explained that around 2007, director Curtis Hanson told him about a sequel idea he had been discussing with Ellroy. Pearce was eager to return as Detective Ed Exley alongside Crowe, and the entire team seemed on board. But Hanson’s health took a turn, and he passed away in 2016.

Although the film has fared better among general audiences and casual moviegoers than professional film critics, both groups cite similar reasons for its divisive detractors. Ortega fans on the fence about giving Finestkind a chance should prepare for excellent performances and a compelling family tale lost in a sea of confounding melodramatic storytelling and tonal inconsistencies.
