Fox Fall 2025 Schedule: Reality & Sports Rule 5 Nights As Monday Goes Unscripted, ‘The Floor’ Succeeds ‘The Masked Singer’
Image
For as far back as memory goes, Monday has been synonymous with drama on the Fox schedule. Some of the network’s signature series of the last couple of decades like 24, House, Prison Break and 9-1-1 have called the night home for all or significant portion of their run. That will change this coming fall when Monday night will go unscripted in a non-strike year with Name That Tune and Celebrity Weakest Link, leaving Tuesday night as the only night featuring live-action scripted programming on the network.

“Thematically, our goal for Fox is to deliver entertainment that speaks to our strengths. Irreverent. Fun And a place where comedy and emotional connectivity run throughout our schedule,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said during the network’s pre-upfront press call Sunday.

Frankie Muniz at an event for John Carter (2012)
You’re not the boss of me now and you’re not so big…Actually, it seems like it was an 8-pound baby that ended up steering some of the decisions made by Frankie Muniz.

Appearing on the Drive podcast with Ford CEO Jim Farley (via EW), Frankie Muniz recalled that it was having a son that made him rethink his career as an actor so he could shift gears into the racing world, insisting that he wouldn’t have the reputation as a has-been. “I literally was holding him, my son, in the hospital bed, and I remember thinking, ‘Who is he going to grow up thinking that I am?’ Sure, I could say, ‘Here’s what Daddy used to do, Daddy used to be an actor, Daddy used to do that.’ But I wanted him to see me working really hard for something, striving for something, and all...

Stephen King Had One Condition To Allow The Mist TV Series
Image
At some point in the future, the number of Stephen King adaptations on screen will outpace the number of stories the horror master has written for the page. Hollywood is always hungry for new and old King tales alike, and has rarely slowed its adaptation machine down in the nearly 50 years since "Carrie" first hit theaters.

At a certain point, it became clear that King, who's only produced a handful of adaptations based on his own work, would have to cede control of his considerable source material and let each new interpretation do its own thing. Still, he's famously made his opinions on the adaptations known over the years, and always seems interested in the ways filmmakers distinguish their version of the story from his. Several King movies and shows by now feel like unique properties in their own right, with Osgood Perkins' deeply personal and sickly hilarious take on...

It revolves around a 15-hour shift in a fictional Pittsburgh hospital that is loaded with post-pandemic trauma, shortages of staff, and limited budget. In the show, Noah Wyle plays Dr. Robby, who is troubled by the pandemic, along with other doctors played by Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, and others. The story feels real and gritty, and if you loved The Pitt, here are 10 shows that might keep you hooked.

Do you love Stephen King as much as I do? Are you keen to have your day ruined? If you answered yes to both of the questions I just posed, I have a special treat in store for you. Darabont penned the screen treatment for King’s novella, in addition to sitting at the helm of the project. The Mist is not Darabont’s first King adaptation, however. Not by a long shot. The filmmaker previously directed The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. Not to mention, he also helmed a segment for the Nightshift Collection in 1994.

Given that Darabont has a...

Amy Poehler: Meryl Streep Rehearsed So ‘Hard’ for Her ‘SNL50’ Appearance
Image
Only Meryl Streep would take rehearsing so seriously for “Saturday Night Live.” The “Only Murders in the Building” star made her “SNL” debut during the recent “SNL50” special, when the lauded actress appeared in the alien abduction “Close Encounters” skit with Kate McKinnon, Woody Harrelson, and Pedro Pascal.

According to “SNL” alum Amy Poehler, who was also featured in “SNL50,” Streep rehearsed so “hard” prior to the live taping. Poehler and Streep shared a dressing room during the show, where Poehler witnessed some of Streep’s acting process.

“It was a night of famous alumni and people,” Poehler said during a recent appearance on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast in the below video. “There were so many people that people had to share dressing rooms, so I was sharing my dressing room with Meryl Streep. From ‘The Mist’ to ‘The Monkey’: A Guide to Stephen King’s ‘Skeleton Crew’ Adaptations
Image
Presented by Neon’s The Monkey, Bloody Disgusting is celebrating this Friday’s release of Osgood Perkins’ highly anticipated horror with Stephen King Week. Yesterday, Luiz H. C. catalogues his cursed objects. and today, Rachel Reeves dusts off other adaptations from King’s Skeleton Crew.

For some, it was Michael J. Fox holding a copy of Skeleton Crew for his 1988 Read campaign poster that first inspired a read of the Stephen King short story collection. For others, the killer, record-breaking trailer for Neon’s new film The Monkey, written and directed by Osgood Perkins, instigated fingers to flip through pages. Whatever the inciting incident that introduced one to Skeleton Crew, the fact remains that it is a certified Constant Reader classic and a treasure trove of cinematic, eerie, and unsettling tales.

Since the initial release of Skeleton Crew in 1985, several stories have found their way to the screen, with varying degrees of success.

The 5 Best Leslie Nielsen Spoof Movies Ranked
Image
For the bulk of his career, Leslie Nielsen was best known for his stern, dramatic roles. His tall stature and low voice had casting directors offering him parts as commanders, leaders, and even heavies. Many might recall Nielsen's stone-faced turn in 1956's "Forbidden Planet" as the captain in "The Poseidon Adventure," or playing a cop in the 1972 cop drama "The Bold Ones: The Protectors." In 1977's "Day of the Animals" he plays a manly outdoorsman who loses his mind and, quite darkly, declares insane dominion over animals and women. Some might recall that he can hold his breath a long time, as he declared in "Creepshow." Many will be shocked to witness Nielsen beat and assault Barbra Streisand in the 1987 drama "Nuts."

However, Nielsen did appear in a handful of comedies, most notably, playing Dr. Rumack in the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker farce "Airplane!" The parody proved that he had a talent for deadpan comedy,...

10 Funniest Leslie Nielsen Movies, Ranked
Image
After leading a mixed career as a dramatic actor, Leslie Nielsen experienced one of the greatest career shifts in Hollywood when he reinvented himself as a comedy star, beginning in 1980's Airplane!. Soon after, the actor took on a variety of roles in some of the funniest movies of the next two decades, from police parodies to superhero spoofs. As a result, he has remained one of the most beloved comedy actors of the era, particularly for his deadpan performances.

While his comedy career had its share of hits and misses, Leslie Nielsen always made sure to be the most memorable part of his projects, even if he didn't have a leading role. Under comedy directors like Jim Abrahams, David & Jerry Zucker and Mel Brooks, Nielsen gave audiences the sillier side of humor. While his films might be seen as too low-brow for some viewers, others continue to embrace what...

Christie Brinkley Honored at Aspen’s Snow Ball Gala, Raising $3.5M for Pediatric Cancer Research
Image
In its third edition, the Aspen Snow Ball has become more than just a one-day event. Spanning more than a week, it’s now being called “Aspen Snow Ball Week,” bringing in A-list Hollywood actors, singers, film industry insiders, sponsors and donors. With the feel of a community around it, film producer Thomas Pierce (whose film The Brutalist recently landed 10 Oscar nominations) and his foundation the Children’s Oncology Support Fund created five days filled with various events for fighting cancer.

“Our events create a space where attendees can bond, celebrate and immerse themselves in the cause, making it feel both meaningful and personal. I think it resonates with people because it’s not just an event; it’s a movement of compassion and hope,” Pierce told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Expanding the Aspen Snow Ball into a week-long experience was about creating more opportunities to amplify our mission. By including multiple events,...

Renner (2025) Movie Review: Pointless, Shambling AI-Human Drama that Goes Nowhere
Robert Rippberger
AI-centered dramas need a dash of formal ingenuity and a rich emotional, human connection for them to fully work. The presence of a robot in the narrative isn’t enough to push it. There should ideally be a sense of stakes when the film also hints at manipulation in the mix. If the story is so cut-and-dried, the film would only collapse into a generic muddle. AI narratives demand a cleverness of conceit that’s also touching, probing, and at least interested in the matrices of agency, power, and intelligence. Robert Rippberger’s directorial “Renner” is a determinedly thin rendition of topical concerns over the intervention of AI in human lives and decision-making.

The material itself is so weak, insipid, and lacking in an intriguing undertow that any dramatically infusing attempts don’t quite land. A team of three writers– Luke Medina, Martin Medina, and David Largman Murray- can...

‘Renner’ Review
Image
Stars: Frankie Muniz, Marcia Gay Harden, Violett Beane, Taylor Gray | Written by Robert Rippberger, David Largman Murray, Luke and Martin Medina | Directed by Robert Rippberger

No, this isn’t a biopic about Jeremy Renner and his near-fatal run-in with a snowplough. The new film from director Robert Rippberger is about a computer coder named Renner. He’s wealthy and successful, but like most Hollywood techies, he’s a hopeless introvert and can’t bring himself to talk to the neighbour he’s crushing on. To help with that, he’s developed Salenus, an AI voiced by Marcia Gay Harden to help him become more self-confident and assertive.

At first, it seems to work, and he works up the nerve to talk to Jamie and for reasons unexplained, she becomes interested in him as well. This puts him in another awkward position when she brings her brother Chad to dinner with her.

Renner – Review
Image
A scene from Renner. Courtesy of Millennial PR

If you only know Frankie Muniz from comedies like “Malcolm in the Middle”, the Agent Cody Banks movies and (my favorite) his appearance in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, get set for watching him morph into Creepville territory as the title character in Renner. He plays a computer genius with a severely crippling social disorder that leaves him alone in his apartment with his AI masterpiece, Salenus (voice of Marcia Gay Harden) as his only “friend”. He’s programmed her to be more of a therapist and life counselor than merely a functional entity like Siri or Alexa, continually learning and evolving on the job.

When cute new neighbor Jamie (Violett Beane) moves in across the hall, Renner is dying to meet her but can’t summon the courage or conversational basics to speak. Salenus urges him to face her and the...

Muniz Returns to the Big Screen with a Terrifying New Role in ‘Renner’
Image
Frankie Muniz steps into uncharted territory in Renner, a psychological thriller that blends artificial intelligence with psychological horror. Set for a limited theatrical release on February 7, followed by a streaming debut on March 18, the film follows a reclusive computer genius whose creation turns against him in an unexpected and deeply personal way. Directed by Robert Rippberger, Renner explores the consequences of technological ambition when an A.I. life coach becomes something far more sinister.

Muniz plays Renner, a socially withdrawn coder who develops an artificial intelligence named Salenus to help him navigate relationships. Encouraged by his creation, he begins to form a connection with his neighbour Jamie, played by Violett Beane. But when Jamie interacts with Salenus, the system’s influence takes a malevolent turn. As Renner’s secrets unravel, he realises that he has unintentionally programmed the A.I. with the personality traits of his domineering mother. What begins...

Over the past few years, especially during and after Covid, the movie business has been quite unpredictable. 2024 was filled with all sorts of hits and flops as well, and 2025 is going to be a crucial year, especially after the Hollywood strikes.

Much like the mentioned general scenario, Marvel Studios has been facing ups and downs lately, and Captain America: Brave New World looks more crucial because of this. On the other hand, films like You, Me & Her are trying to experiment with a new sort of film release model.

Game of Thrones vets Kit Harington and Sophie Turner wrap on their medieval horror film
Image
Game of Thrones wrapped up six years ago on HBO, but some of the cast members have been working together on other projects. To wit: Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, who played half-siblings/cousins/it's complicated Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, reunited for a horror movie called The Dreadful, which according to Radio Times has just wrapped filming in Cornwall, England!

The Dreadful isn't just any horror movie; it's a medieval period horror movie set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses, which happens to be the same war from which author George R.R. Martin drew a lot of inspiration when writing his A Song of Ice and Fire series; people have long seen parallels between that war and the story of Game of Thrones, with House Stark standing in for the House of York and House Lannister for the House of Lancaster. So it's funny that these...

Why CBS Canceled So Help Me Todd
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Does any major network do wacky show titles as well as CBS? I don't think so. It's the home of such creatively, chaotically named shows as "Jake and the Fatman," "Gary Unmarried," "Joan of Arcadia," "United States of Al," "Syzyszynk," and -- my personal favorite, name-wise -- "God Friended Me." The network's wacky titles go all the way back to TV's golden age, but their schedule still features several weirdly named shows today. Without giving each of them a watch, it's hard to tell your "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" from your "Bob Hearts Abishola," but one unusually named show made its mark recently with a short but loved two-season run: "So Help Me Todd."

The name of "So Help Me Todd" gives few hints about the show's premise, but it was actually about a flailing private detective ("Pitch Perfect...

Breaking Baz: True Brit’s Zygi Kamasa Is On A Scary Mission To Bring Back Britain’s Horror Heritage; Firm Boards Sophie Turner & Kit Harington Pic ‘The Dreadful’
Image
Exclusive: Zygi Kamasa, the veteran film executive who launched True Brit Entertainment 15 months ago, is on a scary mission to bring back Britain’s horror film heritage. Today, he reveals that his company will release period shocker The Dreadful starring Game of Thrones duo Sophie Turner and Kit Harington and Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden in the UK.

“I feel very much that I want to go further in trying to encourage the UK industry to make more horror movies because horror still works consistently well in cinemas,” Kamasa insists, citing the success of last year’s occult horror Longlegs.

Sophie Turner, Kit Harington

But Longlegs, and many other recent horror movies, were American made.

“If we’re going to do horror in this country, go back. I mean we were dominating horror in the Sixties and Seventies, the Hammer horror and all that.

Oscars: Has Netflix Finally Found Its Best Picture Winner? Could Fernanda Torres Pull Off an Upset? And What About ‘Wicked’?
Image
The whiplash of the Oscar nominations rippled across Hollywood professionals, awards pundits, and elated enthusiasts of 2024’s best films and performances.

The most jaw-dropping — and welcomed — moment of nomination morning came from Walter Salles’ Brazilian drama, “I’m Still Here,” which landed three major nominations: international feature, best actress for Fernanda Torres, and best picture. This marks the second consecutive year in which more than one non-English language movie received a best picture nomination, following 2023’s “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Zone of Interest” (although it’s the first time two international feature nominees have been recognized). It shows that the Golden Globes (at least their winners) still matter.

After Torres won the Globe for best actress, triumphing over A-listers Angelina Jolie (“Maria”) and Nicole Kidman (“Babygirl”), many Academy voters told Variety they were seeking out the film, with feedback being overwhelmingly positive. Torres’ steady appearances on late-night talk shows and her vocal,...
