Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Chloe Bennet Rumored To Make MCU Return; Update On X-men Reboot's Storm Casting
Image
Love or hate Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there's no denying that the show introduced many great characters. Chloe Bennet's Quake was among them, and while her journey from being Skye to Daisy Johnson was pretty convoluted, she's someone fans would love to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rumours about a potential return have swirled for years, with Bennet both teasing and denying her involvement with the MCU on multiple occasions.

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word that Bennet is "coming back" as the character. With it looking increasingly more likely that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. took place in an alternate reality not unlike Earth-616, it's possible the group could be part of the Multiversal Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Beyond that, the comic book Quake has ties to teams like the Secret Warriors and even The Avengers, so who knows how she'll be utilised by Marvel Studios if and when this supposed return happens.

Why Michelle Yeoh Rejected A Wai Lin Cameo In The James Bond Movie Die Another Day
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

There are few franchises in the history of cinema that can rival that of "James Bond." Created by author Ian Fleming, the spy known as 007 made himself known to the world thanks to Sean Connery's portrayal in 1962's smash hit "Dr. No." Ever since, even after Connery's tenure ended, Bond has been a staple of the silver screen.

Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh made her mark on the series with her role as Wai Lin in 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies." Yeoh was the main Bond girl in Pierce Brosnan's second entry as Bond, following in the footsteps of "GoldenEye," which successfully revived the series after a long absence. Yeoh, it turns out, could have returned once more in Brosnan's final "Bond" movie as well, namely 2002's "Die Another Day." So, what happened? Why didn't Yeoh return?

"I was asked...

Man Dressed Up as Bird Shocks Cannes Red Carpet at Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson’s ‘Die, My Love’ Premiere
Image
The world premiere of Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence’s “Die, My Love” got a Wtf red carpet moment when a man dressed as a giant condor appeared on one of the most famed runways in cinema. The bird-man’s appearance led to questions from festival goers about what exactly was going on.

Cannes festival organizers told Variety that the bird man was actually a character from “I Love Peru,” a documentary from Raphael Quenard that premiered in the festival’s Cannes Classics section. The festival’s synopsis of the doc reads: “Going through a difficult period, Raphaël Quenard abandons everyone around him and, struck by a disturbing vision, flies to Peru. In this spiritual quest, he is accompanied by his friend Hugo David.”

In Peruvian culture, condors are considered to be a connection between heaven and earth.

Considering the Cannes red carpet is known for being super strict, festival...

Fans Voted 10 Worst Superhero Movies Ever & Here Are the Results
Image
When it comes to superhero movies, we often see lists ranking the best ones ever made. Superhero films only started being seen as good in the last decade, thanks to better CGI and effects that made superheroes look less cheesy on screen.

But before ‘Endgame’ and ‘Dark Knight,’ there were plenty of bad superhero adaptations. Some are so bad they’re still laughed at today. Fans on Ranker gathered and cast over 500K votes to decide: What’s the worst superhero movie ever?

10. ‘The Fantastic Four’ (1994)

Just by looking at the costumes and Thing’s latex suit in ‘The Fantastic Four’ (1994), you can tell what direction it’s headed. The film was so poor that it never saw an official release, though copies can still be found with some effort. Surprisingly, despite its objective flaws, it’s not terrible enough to be shelved forever. Certain aspects, like its script and...

Avengers: Doomsday Set Photo Reveals A Birds-Eye View Of A Downed Sentinel - Possible Spoilers
Image
Earlier this week, we got a first look at what appeared to be a downed Sentinel on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Now, we have a birds-eye view offering a clearer shot at the mutant-hunting robot's legs (in what's believed to be the X-Mansion's grounds).

We also have reason to believe that we'll see the remains of more than one Sentinel, as you can see below.

Unfortunately, the legs are still covered up, but the photographer who took these shots has confirmed that the footprints they've seen elsewhere on set match the Sentinel design from the comics.

Sentinels attacking the X-Men's home is par for the course in the comics, so this could be part of a major battle we'll see in the movie or the fallout from a previous battle. We also wouldn't discount the possibility of this being a Danger Room training exercise meant to show us what...

“I Won’t Be Doing That”: Rosamund Pike Recalls Uncomfortable Bond Girl Auditions
Image
TheJames Bond franchise is one of Hollywood's most celebrated franchises, and yet it hasn't come without its fair share of challenges and veiled criticism. One of the allegations that has been levelled is that of its objectification of women. Actress Rosamund Pike has opened up about an uncomfortable moment in her early career, an audition for a James Bond film that left a lasting impression, not because of glamour or prestige, but for all the wrong reasons.

In a recent sit-down with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Pike revisited the experience of auditioning for the role of Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day. Though she ultimately landed the role, it wasn’t without its challenges. According to Pike, a casting director asked her to “stand there in your underwear,” telling her to “unzip and drop” her dress as part of the audition. She recounts that as a then 21-year-old finding her footing in the industry,...

Nude and “Voluminous” Cannes Red Carpet Looks From Past Years That Would Violate New Dress Code
Image
The Cannes Film Festival and its iconic red carpet are officially open for business. And aside from the shadow of President Donald Trump looming large over this year’s festivities, the buzziest story to emerge so far this week has been the fest’s new red carpet dress code.

On the eve of this year’s opening ceremony, a Cannes rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the festival updated its charter to ban full nudity and “voluminous outfits,” especially those with a large train, that “hinder the flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.” The fest spokesperson clarified that the dress code is not meant to regulate attire “per se,” but that it did get refreshed to reflect certain rules “that have long been in effect.”

While that may be true, enforcement has definitely been, well, questionable. A quick scan of the Getty archives reveals...

Cannes Day 1: Quentin Tarantino Drops the Mic
Image
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival is here. And on its first day we got a Quentin Tarantino mic drop, the first casualty of the festival’s new no-nudity-or-big-trains rule for the red carpet and even “Godzilla” made a surprise appearance.

Here’s what went down on the first day of the fest.

Quentin Tarantino Closes Out the Opening Ceremony in Typical Fashion

Quentin Tarantino, seemingly doing everything he can to not make his tenth and final film, attended the festival’s opening ceremony at the Grand Lumiére Theatre. His only job – besides walking the red carpet with wife Daniella – was to introduce the festival as officially starting. (It will run for the next 12 days.) “It’s my honor to declare the 78th festival open!” Tarantino shouted into the microphone before dropping it. True to form, he pulled it off with aplomb and the kind of borderline-cartoonish energy that characterizes his very best work.

Directed and co-written by frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, the eighth and latest installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is a direct sequel to 2023’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning.” That film introduced viewers to new characters like Hayley Atwell’s Grace, Esai Morales’ villainous Gabriel, Greg Tarzan Davis’ Degas, Pom Klementieff’s skilled assassin Paris and Shea Whigham’s Jasper Briggs. Those characters and actors are all set to return, once again, in “The Final Reckoning.”

They are accompanied in it by “Mission: Impossible” newcomers Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”), Janet McTeer (“Ozark”), Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Katy O’Brian (“Twisters”) and Tramell Tillman (“Severance”), as well as returning franchise veterans like Simon Pegg,...

A Former James Bond Star Casts Doubt On A Once-Planned Spin-Off Movie
Image
/Film has previously reported on MGM's efforts to make a female-led James Bond spin-off, an ambition the studio had since as early as 1997. It seems that Michelle Yeoh's appearance in that year's Bond flick, "Tomorrow Never Dies," impressed the studio heads, and many of them felt that it was high time to invent a female counterpart to the notoriously male-centric series. For a while, MGM appeared to be courting Yeoh for additional movies -- they also wanted her to play Pierce Brosnan's co-lead in 2002's "Die Another Day" -- but she was uninterested. Their interest was inflamed anew, however, when Halle Berry took Yeoh's place for "Die Another Day," playing an all-new character named Jinx.

Jinx proved to be so popular that MGM immediately made concrete plans to give the character her own starring role. The Broccolis approved of the idea, and Neal Purvis and Robert Wade...

"I Don't Know If That's The Right Thing To Do": Female James Bond Possibility Gets Honest Response From Halle Berry
Image
Halle Berry has weighed in on whether James Bond should be played by a woman. Berry played a prominent role in 2002's Die Another Day, in which Pierce Brosnan played the iconic MI6 agent. Berry's Jinx is actually one of the most unique Bond girls since there were originally plans to develop a spinoff based on her character. While the Jinx spinoff was eventually canceled, Berry's thoughts on a female James Bond are still worth considering ahead of the upcoming 26th movie in the long-running spy franchise.

In an interview with Variety during the jury press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Berry admitted that she's not sure if James Bond should be played by a woman. She didn't elaborate that much, but suggested that casting a female to play James Bond might not be the right thing to do right now. She also added that she doesn't think a Jinx spinoff will ever happen,...

Tom Cruise Hopes Splashy ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Cannes Premiere Helps Restore Franchise to Box Office Glory
Image
Tom Cruise’s global game of promotional hopscotch planted him in Cannes this week, where he will unveil “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” following stops in Japan, Korea and London. Brooding closeups of the star’s dirt-and-blood caked face have peppered the Croisette on 4K LED screens and the premiere promises to be one this year’s glitziest.

While Denzel Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Mescal and Halle Berry will all take turns on the red carpet at the Grand Palais, Cruise is the one pulling out all the stops for his last go as field agent Ethan Hunt.

At 62, the movie icon is dancing harder and faster than ever before to get global audiences to theaters. Last week, he scaled the top of the massive BFI Imax theater in London. The following day, he jumped feet-first out of a helicopter with a camera strapped to his chest.

Rosamund Pike Says She Was Asked to ‘Unzip and Drop’ Her Dress and ‘Just Stand There in Underwear’ During Bond Girl Audition: ‘I Won’t Be Doing That’
Image
Rosamund Pike says her audition for “Die Another Day” almost went too far.

In a recent sit-down with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Pike, who played Miranda Frost in the 2002 Bond flick, says she was asked to strip down to her underwear when auditioning for the film.

“In the Bond audition, I was asked to unzip and drop the dress I was wearing, to just stand there in underwear,” Pike said. “And I thought, ‘Well, no, I’ll be doing that if I get the part. I won’t be doing that now.’ I don’t know what possessed me.”

Despite the disagreement, Pike went on to star alongside Pierce Brosnan in “Die Another Day.” In the film, Pike’s Miranda Frost, a Harvard grad and Olympic fencer, disguises herself as a fellow member of MI6, only to later be revealed as a double agent. In the movie’s climax, she is...

Leonardo DiCaprio at an event for Inception (2010)
Leonardo DiCaprio presents Robert De Niro with his honorary Palme d’Or Photo: Courtesy of Cannes Film Festival The opening of the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival last night was a fairly muted affair with a first time French film Leave One Day, a musical comedy, kicking off proceedings. Although the cast, including Juliette Armanet as well as director Amélie Bonnin, looked the part it took the legendary Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio to bring some Hollywood chutzpah to the proceedings.

DiCaprio was presenting De Niro with his honorary Palme d’Or but this year’s mega star Tom Cruise (in town for the global launch of the latest Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning) was conspicuous by his absence. Instead we had Quentin Tarantino striding out alongside last year’s Palme d’Or winner Sean Baker (for Anora) and jury president Juliette Binoche and her cohorts...

Robert De Niro criticises Trump tariffs at Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony
Image
Robert De Niro criticised president Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on films made outside the US at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening night ceremony, which took place tonight (May 13).

De Niro, receiving the honorary Palme d’Or, said: “In my country, we’re fighting like hell for the democracy we once took for granted. And that affects all of us here because the arts are democratic. Art is inclusive. It brings people together, like tonight. Art looks for truth, art embraces diversity and that’s why art is a threat — that’s why we are a threat — to autocrats and fascists.

Halle Berry Doesn’t Think Next James Bond Should be a Woman
Image
Halle Berry made headlines at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival during a jury press conference, where she shared her honest thoughts on the future of James Bond. The Oscar-winning actress, who played the iconic Bond girl Jinx in 2002’s Die Another Day, was asked about the possibility of a female 007, a topic that’s sparked debate among fans for years.

Berry’s response? “I don’t know if 007 should be a woman.” She also opened up about the long-rumored Jinx spinoff that never came to be, leaving fans wondering what could have been. With her candid words, Berry has reignited conversations about a female 007 in the spy franchise while reflecting on her journey in Hollywood, making her Cannes appearance a moment to remember.

Halle Berry on Cannes Nudity Rule: “I had an amazing dress… that I cannot wear tonight” Because I Can’t Break the Rules
Image
Halle Berry showed up at Cannes ready to slay until the film festival’s strict nudity rules shut down her red carpet moment. Turns out, she had a killer dress lined up. But thanks to Cannes’ no-nip, no-fun dress code, that look never saw the spotlight.

Berry didn’t push back or stir up drama, though. She played by the rules, even if it meant shelving a stunner. Still, the fact that even Halle Berry has to tone it down at Cannes says a lot about how buttoned-up the festival still is.

Halle Berry Reveals She Had to Change Cannes 2025 Opening Ceremony Look Due to New Dress Code Rules

The Cannes Jury has arrived for the opening ceremony!

Jurors Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, Alba Rohrwacher, Dieudo Hamadi, Payal Kapadia, Leïla Slimani and Carlos Reygadas, along with Jury President Juliette Binoche, arrived for the event, which also served as the screening for Partir Un Jour on Tuesday (May 13) in Cannes, France.

Earlier that day, Halle said her opening ceremony dress was nixed due to the new dress code rules!

“I had an amazing dress by Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it’s too big of a train,” Halle said (via Variety). “I’m not going to break the rules. The nudity part is also probably a good rule.” Cannes did ban long, voluminous looks, as well as nudity.

Fyi: Halle is wearing Jacquemus with Chopard jewels. Juliette is wearing Chopard jewels. Jeremy is wearing Loro Piana.

Cannes Launches With Lots of Politics, No Cleavage and a Tarantino Surprise
Image
What about Bob?

The 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival launched with lots of politics and a special tribute to Robert De Niro that saw the Oscar-winning legend slam Donald Trump as “America’s philistine president.”

On the red carpet, the main attraction — the French musical comedy “Partir un Jour,” which ended up earning a five-minute standing ovation — took a backseat to paparazzi scrambling to land a shot of De Niro, who made the trek to France to accept an honorary Palme d’Or from Leonardo DiCaprio. Past winners of the Palme d’Or, the festival’s top prize, such as Quentin Tarantino and Sean Baker, walked through a gauntlet of photographers, along with Eva Longoria, Julia Garner, Heidi Klum, and Alessandra Ambrosio. But Tom Cruise, who is in town to premiere “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” was nowhere to be found.

Crime Novelist Don Winslow Unretires For ‘The Final Score’
Image
Exclusive: Author Don Winslow might not be the retiring type, after all.

The prolific bestselling crime novelist “paused” his retirement to write a new collection of short novels titled The Final Score. The deal was made quietly a few months ago, and it is now up for pre-orders on Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble. Harper Collins/William Morrow will release the book on September 16.

“I don’t know if I am back for one more book or more,” Winslow told Deadline. “One day I just started writing again and I couldn’t stop. I wrote all of these stories in secret and for the first time in decades without a deadline. It felt good and I feel that two of these stories, Collision and The Final Score, are among the best work I’ve ever done.” Those will be the ones shopped for film and TV deals.

Kim Kardashian Prepares for Revenge in First Teaser for Ryan Murphy’s ‘All’s Fair’
Image
Kim Kardashian is not to be messed with in the first teaser for Ryan Murphy’s “All’s Fair.” The trailer for the upcoming Hulu original dropped ahead of Disney’s upfronts presentation on Tuesday.

“You know what a girl’s best friend is? Not diamonds. Her lawyer,” Judith Light’s character confidentially tells Glenn Close. The trailer then pans between shots of several women looking fashionable, poised and confident from the boardroom to the courtroom as the “Cell Block Tango” from “Chicago” ominously plays.

“Get mad. Get hot,” Close’s character instructs. “Get revenge.”

The video then cuts to a voiceover from Kim Kardashian’s Allura Grant as she and her colleagues toast each other and powerwalk down hallways: “It’s our own boutique. Women representing women.”

But as the clip continues, things spiral out of control. An emotional Niecy Nash appears in a hospital gown. A tear-streaked Kardashian looks on horrified.

Berry Adapts Cannes Gown After Festival Bans Nudity and Long Trains
Halle Berry
Just hours before the Cannes Film Festival opening gala, jury member Halle Berry revealed she had to swap her planned gown after organizers unveiled strict guidelines banning nudity and oversized trains on the red carpet. Speaking at the Palais des Festivals press conference on May 12, Berry said her custom Gupta dress featured a train deemed too large. “I’m not going to break the rules,” she said, adding that the ban on nudity “is probably a good rule.”

Cannes officials issued a statement explaining the measures align with the festival’s charter and French law. Attire that risks blocking other guests’ passage or complicating seating in screening rooms may be refused entry. Festival programmers say the guidelines formalize long-standing practices rather than introduce new mandates.

Berry sits alongside jury president Juliette Binoche and peers Jeremy Strong, Payal Kapadia, Hong Sangsoo, Alba Rohrwacher, Leïla Slimani, Dieudo Hamadi and Carlos Reygadas. The...

Halle Berry Laments Lost James Bond Spinoff, Weighs In on Gender-Swapping 007
Image
Halle Berry has played multiple iconic characters throughout her career. She was also a part of the James Bond universe, appearing alongside Pierce Brosnan in 2002's Die Another Day.

Berry played Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson, a National Security Agency agent. Her character was so well-received that a spinoff was discussed. Speaking to Variety, Berry weighed in on the project and revealed whether she would like to play 007 instead. "I don't know if 007 should be a woman," she said. Referring to the spinoff, she added, "There was a time that that could have happened. Probably should have happened. I would have loved for that to happen."

MGM considered a spinoff based on Jinx with a 2024 release in mind. However, in October 2003, Variety reported that the studio had "completely pulled the plug" on the spin-off, although James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson were reportedly "clearly furious" about the decision. Berry later...

Juliette Binoche Dodges Question About Cinema Figures’ Gaza Open Letter At Cannes Press Conference
Image
When Cannes Film Festival Jury President Juliette Binoche was asked today why she didn’t sign a global film industry open letter condemning the “silence” over the deadly impact of Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza; The English Patient Oscar winner told a reporter “I cannot answer you.”

“You will maybe understand it a little later,” the actress said.

Binoche at this afternoon’s Cannes jury press conference was asked by Al Jazeera English about the open letter that was released on the eve of the festival with signatures from more than 350 cinema world figures including Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Javier Bardem.

“In Cannes, the horror Gaza must not be silenced,” read the letter.

Binoche was questioned on why she did not sign the letter herself, despite being “well-known for speaking out about a variety of causes.” After a long hesitation, she refused to answer but insisted that...

This year’s reigning queen of the Croisette Juliette Binoche, president of the Competition jury in succession to last year’s Barbie director Greta Gerwig, was asked at today’s jury press conference if the #MeToo movement had led to the downfall of Gérard Depardieu, who earlier today was found guilty of sexual assault charges and given an 18-month suspended prison sentence.

The firm and unequivocal response from Binoche was: “Of course, yes, absolutely." She added that the festival had reflected the changes of attitude in society at large. "For a number of years, indeed the festival is following this trend in social and political life. There have been great changes occurring in the world. Sometimes it follows the trends,...

As Cannes 2025 Readies for Opening Night, Political Headwinds Blow
Image
Despite best efforts to talk about movies at Cannes, with the sprawling official selection yet to be screened, at early press conferences festival director Thierry Fremaux and his Competition jury batted back questions about the state of the world today. Queries swung from Gerard Depardieu’s #MeToo conviction, to showing three films from Ukraine and banning Russia from the festival, which from its founding in 1939 was “predicated on liberty,” said Fremaux.

“People take risks to make films,” he said. “The most important thing is not someone’s safety, but making a film. The festival is political when the artists are political. Jafar Panahi [Iranian Competition entry ‘A Simple Accident’] is prepared to risk going to prison.”

As to the current political winds prevailing in America and elsewhere, Fremaux said, “The cinema requires a lot of funding. It is often the first target. Around the world we need to defend cinema.” As for President Donald Trump’s...
