Why One Beloved Toy Story Character Does Not Have A Voice
Image
With four (soon to be five) films in Pixar's beloved "Toy Story" franchise, generations of audiences have been introduced to some of the most lovable characters in animated history. In particular, the core group of Andy's toys remains a staple in the entire catalog of not just Pixar Animation Studios but also Disney as a whole. Obviously, there is the inseparable (at least until "Toy Story 4") duo of Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), but how can we forget their friends Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Slinky Dog (Jim Varney/Blake Clark), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (John Ratzenberger), and Bo Peep (Annie Potts)? The original gang of Andy's toys was first introduced to us in 1995, but once "Toy Story 2" hit theaters in 1999, we were introduced to a few new core members of the series, including Mrs. Potato Head (Estelle Harris), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and Bullseye.

The ‘Frasier’ Game Boy Game Is Completely Bonkers
Image
With the exception of the Home Improvement game, in which Tim Allen murders dinosaurs with power tools and dynamite, very few live action sitcoms have spawned video games. And while we never got an officially-licensed Frasier game in the ‘90s, that hasn’t stopped people from pretending that we did. Fans have frequently mocked up artwork for fictional games starring Dr. Frasier Crane, which Nintendo foolishly never put into production.

More recently, a Frasier fan on Reddit shared a fake print ad for a vintage Game Boy game about Frasier being tasked with saving his brother Niles from “wine thieves.”

Reddit

Again, this was just a joke. But while the meme is driving some people nuts, it did prompt one user to point out that there actually is a Frasier-themed game for the Nintendo Game Boy. But it was A) made by a fan, and B) kind of insane.

Disney Upfront: Here’s What Happened At North Javits With Bob Iger, Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley, Glen Powell & ‘Alien: Earth’ Invasion
Image
Twelve months ago, Disney, fighting for space at the TV Upfronts against both Netflix and Amazon for the first time, flexed its muscles with over 150 stars including Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds.

The Mouse House also had CEO Bob Iger, appearing for the first time in 30 years, highlighting the “radical changes that have transformed the business over the last three decades”.

Iger evidently enjoyed himself last year as he was back on stage with an introduction from Super Bowl winners Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley. “I’ve not seen you since you won the Super Bowl,” he said to the Eagles running back.

Iger kept things brief, pointing out that it had been a “whirlwind few days for our company” with the launch of a theme park in Abu Dhabi – its seventh theme park around the world, as well as news about the new ESPN streaming service.

ABC Unveils Fall 2025 Schedule: ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Joins Its Mothership on Thursday; ‘Shark Tank’ Moves to Wednesday As ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’ Takes Its Place
Image
ABC is keeping things stable next fall, making only a handful of tweaks to a schedule that mostly looks similar to last year’s lineup. That means just one new series has been added to the mix so far — “9-1-1: Nashville,” which will easily slide into the Thursday 9 p.m. slot behind mother ship “9-1-1.”

“Our strategy over the past few years has to been really focused on launching just a few shows every year, and it’s borne out,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, pointing to the success last season of freshmen “High Potential” and “Shifting Gears,” and before that, “Will Trent.”

“We don’t want to make a lot of moves, because I think it can be confusing, and it really works against focus and stability. So we were able really platform a few shows. ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ obviously will be a big priority for us.

ABC Fall 2025 Schedule: ‘9-1-1’ Block, ‘Shark Tank’ Moves, ‘The Rookie’ & ‘Will Trent’ Held Again
Image
Ryan Murphy will keep his hold on ABC’s Thursday 8 Pm – 10 Pm stretch next season with the first 9-1-1 franchise block in three and a half years, while reality veteran Shark Tank is moving to a new night after 15 seasons on Friday and Sunday. The Golden Bachelor also is back in a new time slot on the network’s fall 2025 schedule, which features one new series, spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville starring Chris O’Donnell.

Here is the schedule, which Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, said is “about maintaining stability.” It does not include two of ABC’s top dramas, The Rookie and Will Trent, slated again for a midseason return alongside High Potential on Tuesday. The fall lineup is followed by analysis — with input from Erwich on benching of The Rookie and Will Trent and moving Shark Tank — and more details about the latest 9-1-1 offshoot.

‘Deli Boys’ and ‘Shifting Gears’ showrunner Michelle Nader says both shows ‘are about humanity and make people laugh’
Image
Michelle Nader, the showrunner behind two of the year’s new comedies — Hulu’s Deli Boys and ABC’s Shifting Gears — says "both shows are about humanity and making people laugh." With two very different worlds, casts, and tones to balance, Nader has crafted shows that not only entertain but resonate deeply with audiences.

Created by Abdullah Saeed, Deli Boys follows a pair of privileged Pakistani-American brothers who lose their lavish lifestyle after their convenience-store mogul father dies in a freak golfing accident. Nader calls the genre-blending comedy one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.

“Deli Boys is so special to me,” Nader shares. “The experience of working on it has been one of the best I’ve had in my long career. It was such a gift to be able to tell this story about a family coming together through crime. I come from Philadelphia, it’s set in Philadelphia,...

Pixar's Most Recognizable Mascot Is Now Immortalized in Lego Form
Image
When it comes to animation, no studio has captured the hearts of moviegoers quite like Pixar in the last three decades. The Disney-owned company’s first feature-length film, Toy Story, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. However, Pixar has been around a lot longer than 1995. Prior to fans meeting Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks), Pixar was making some of the best animated shorts around. Now one of their first shorts is being immortalized in Lego.

Lego’s latest “Ideas” set is based on 1986’s Luxo Jr. and has 613 pieces. This was the first CGI film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award, but is best known for becoming the groundwork for the iconic Pixar logo. In the short, Luxo Jr., a mischievous lamp, is trying to pop a bouncy ball. The same ball that would later end up in Toy Story. In this set you...

Upfront About It: Where Major Players Stand Going Into Annual Pitch to Advertisers

It’s razzle-dazzle time for TV.

The largest platforms will converge in New York the week of May 12 to show off new content and put the hard sell on Madison Avenue for advertising commitments.

Upfronts week isn’t the make-or-break moment for the TV biz that it once was. CBS has bowed out of hosting a presentation, opting for smaller events in multiple cities. ABC and NBC are part of larger pitches for parent companies Disney and Comcast. Amazon and Netflix have joined the parade.

No matter who’s in and who’s out, upfronts week is still an annual mile marker and a time for every network to take stock. Below, Variety breaks down the hits, misses and needs of the major players as they tubthump their upcoming lineups.

10 Highest Grossing Movies With a Perfect 100% Rt Score
Image
Getting a perfect 100% Rt score is not a small feat. Like, honestly, critics can be brutal, picky, or even allergic to fun sometimes. But when a movie manages to win all of them over, and we mean all of them, it’s already walking on rare air. Now, imagine mixing that fabulous critic score with a fat box office total, you’ve got a straight-up anomaly.

Sure, oftentimes movies either impress the masses or the critics, not both. But few movies managed to pull off this double act like it’s no big deal. Such movies are those that made zero enemies and all the money. They didn’t just crush reviews, they filled the theatre seats, broke records, and had people talking long after the credits rolled.

These cinematic unicorns proved that they can be both critically flawless and financially fabulous. So, if you think critical darlings can’t break the bank,...

Toy Story 5: Buzz & Woody Reunite, But Jessie Rides Into The Spotlight; Ernie Hudson To Voice Combat Carl
Image
The tearful goodbye between Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 4 left the future of the beloved franchise shrouded in uncertainty. However, with Toy Story 5 officially set for a June 19, 2026 release, a surprising new detail suggests a significant shift in the toy box dynamics.

Tim Allen, the unmistakable voice of Buzz Lightyear, recently hinted at a major development for the upcoming sequel. While confirming the highly anticipated reunion of Buzz with Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Allen revealed that Toy Story 5 will place a greater emphasis on another cherished character: Jessie, the spirited cowgirl.

Speaking in a recent interview, Allen teased, "I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more."

While Allen remained tight-lipped on specific plot points,...

"You Get 23 Minutes": 'Shifting Gears' Tim Allen on Why Viewers Love His Sitcoms
Image
After more than three decades of television success, Tim Allen knows a thing or two about building a hit sitcom — and yes, he’ll take some credit. His latest series, Shifting Gears, is another ratings winner, this time pairing Allen with Kat Dennings in a comedy about family, estrangement, and, of course, classic cars. The show was recently renewed for a second season by ABC, and Allen has told Closer Weekly that bringing his own passions into the series made it a winner in his eyes.

“I love cars, and I have a shop in North Hollywood. The shop on the show is pretty much designed after mine.”

That shared passion was key to shaping his character, Matt Parker, a widowed father and gearhead navigating the return of his estranged daughter, Riley (Dennings), and her two kids. Since its January premiere, Shifting Gears has been revving up impressive numbers for...

Tom Hanks Shares Major Update on Toy Story 5 With Behind-the-Scenes Photo

The Toy Story franchise has grossed over $3.3 million since Disney and Pixar released the first Toy Story in 1995. Up next is the fifth installment in the popular film series, Toy Story 5, which is the follow-up to 2019’s Toy Story 4. The film was first announced in early 2023 by Disney CEO Bob Iger. Now, one of the film’s main stars, Tom Hanks, has confirmed that he has begun recording his scenes for Toy Story 5, in which he will reprise the role of the faithful cowboy, Woody.

Hanks took to Instagram on April 21, posting a photo of just his hand showing five fingers in front of a studio microphone with what appeared to be a script below. The Oscar-winner captioned the picture, “First day of work on a certain Story Number 5! Need a hint? Disney. Studio B.”

Tom Hanks’ Toy Story 5 Better Not Repeat This Blunder From the Worst Toy Story Movie
Image
Tom Hanks’ Toy Story 5 is going to be a Buzz Lightyear-centric story, with Tim Allen returning to voice the role. Fans are excited for the old team to get back together after Toy Story 4. With its premise, the film now has little choice but to acknowledge a storyline from the failed Lightyear movie.

Hailing from the Toy Story universe, the spin-off film had the worst rating of all movies. It was a box office disaster despite grossing $226.4 million. The film tied into the Toy Story canon by showing that the movie was the reason why Andy wanted a Buzz Lightyear action figure badly.

However, the confusing meta approach of Lightyear was too much for the family-friendly audience. While Toy Story 5 deals with a modern-day theme, fans hope that it doesn’t repeat the 2022 film’s mistake of narrating a complicated plot.

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’: Why Marvel is facing same ‘woke’ allegations that doomed ‘Snow White’ and other high-profile Disney projects
Image
The Walt Disney Company has been around for more than 100 years, and during that century-plus the studio has developed a reputation for wholesome, all-ages entertainment. Because of that reputation, Disney is often an easy target when it dares to stray from a very narrow definition of "family-friendly."

It’s not uncommon for Hollywood studios to be attacked by conservatives for anything resembling diversity in race, gender, or sexuality. But many right-wing outlets have pushed Disney into the middle of the culture war even when its executives — including CEO Bob Iger — clearly want nothing to do with that.

Within the past week, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has drawn ire among social media commentators for revealing a female Silver Surfer (played by Emmy winner Julia Garner) in the latest trailer, which is being presented among some quarters as evidence of Mouse House's alleged “woke agenda.” If this all sounds familiar, that...

'Toy Story 5' Casts Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, Replacing Late Carl Weathers
Image
Pixar has found a legendary actor to step into the shoes of the late, great Carl Weathers in Toy Story 5. 2025 sees Pixar release the original film Elio, but next year, one of their most significant franchises returns with Toy Story 5, set for release in June 2026. One actor who sadly won't be returning to the franchise is Carl Weathers, who passed away on Feb. 2, 2024. Weathers previously voiced the character of Combat Carl, a G.I. Joe-type toy that has become a fun new addition to the franchise.

Deadline reports that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson will step into the role of Combat Carl for Toy Story 5, taking over for the late great Carl Weathers. Weathers' character debuted in the 2013 Halloween special, Toy Story of Terror, and the actor reprised his role in 2019's Toy Story 4. Hudson is best known for playing Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters films. Hudson's...

Toy Story 5 Recasting a Fan-Favorite Role With a Ghostbusters Actor
Image
The fifth installment of the beloved Toy Storyfranchise has not given up on the character of Combat Carl. The G.I. Joe-inspired action figure in the Toy Story franchise was played by the late Carl Weathers, who died in February 2024 at 76. With his catchphrase of “Combat Carl never gives up! Combat Carl finds a way!” he quickly became a fan favorite.

Weathers’ Combat Carl is still set to be featured in the upcoming Toy Story 5, but instead of being voiced by the Rocky actor, the character will be voiced by a Ghostbusters star. Per TMZ, production sources state that Ernie Hudson will take over the role of Combat Carl in Toy Story 5.

Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise, recently starred in the reboot of Quantum Leap as well as the BET+ series The Family Business. Hudson reprised his Ghostbusters role in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

'Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson Joins 'Toy Story 5' in Place of Late Carl Weathers
Image
Despite the passing of Carl Weathers last year, his Toy Story character Combat Carl will return for Toy Story 5. Deadline reports that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson will step in for Weathers in the upcoming Pixar sequel. Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.

The military action figure Combat Carl was a loving takeoff on Weathers' many action roles, from Predator to Action Jackson to Force 10 From Navarone. However, Hudson is no stranger to action himself; his most iconic role is the blue-collar Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore, which he played in both original Ghostbusters movies and their two latter-day sequels. He has also starred in the high-octane actioners Leviathan, The Crow, Congo, and The Substitute. Hudson is an experienced voice actor, as well; he voiced Cyborg in The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians in the 1980s, and has gone on to provide voices for Transformers: Prime, Infinity Train,...

Ernie Hudson Taking Over Carl Weathers’ Voice Role Of Combat Carl In ‘Toy Story 5’

Ernie Hudson is taking over the late Carl Weathers’ voice role of action figure Combat Carl in Toy Story 5, Deadline has confirmed.

Prior to his passing due to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, pro football player turned actor Weathers voiced Combat Carl in two projects: the 2013 TV special Toy Story of Terror! and 2019’s Toy Story 4, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide. He died in February 2024, aged 76.

While official plot details for Toy Story 5 remain under wraps, ahead of the film’s June 19, 2026 unveiling, star Tim Allen said in an interview with Wivb that the film is “a lot about Jessie,” the cowgirl doll voiced by Joan Cusack. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign,” added the actor, who voices Buzz Lightyear. “And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. Tim Allen Reveals Which Character 'Toy Story 5' Will Focus On
Image
Tim Allen revealed an interesting tidbit about Toy Story 5, one that suggests a fan-favorite character will at the forefront of the new movie - but it won't be Buzz or Woody. 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Toy Story's release in theaters, kicking off one of the most profitable and critically acclaimed animated film series of all time. After three decades, the franchise is still going strong. A fifth film in the series is set to open in theaters on June 19, 2026. Toy Story 5 certainly has fans concerned it will be more of the same, but it looks like Pixar will shake up the franchise a bit by shifting the main character.

‘Toy Story 5’ Opens With an ‘Unbelievable’ Buzz Lightyear Scene and the Plot Is ‘A Lot About Jessie,’ Reveals Tim Allen: Woody and Buzz ‘Realign’

Tim Allen recently spoke to Wivb and revealed some of the first plot specifics for “Toy Story 5,” which is coming to theaters in June 2026 from Disney and Pixar. Allen is reprising the voice of Buzz Lightyear, who he says is front and center during the movie’s “unbelievable” opening sequence. The sequel will then pivot and focus largely on Jessie, the cowgirl first introduced in “Toy Story 2” and memorably voiced by Joan Cusack.

“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Allen said about the fifth “Toy Story” movie. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

Allen told Collider last December that he had just completed his “first five-hour [recording] session for Buzz.” He called it “really weird” to find his Buzz voice again,...

Tim Allen Says ‘Toy Story 5’ Is “A Lot About Jessie” & Teases “Unbelievable Opening Scene With Buzz Lightyears”
Image
Tim Allen is sharing little nuggets of information about the upcoming Toy Story 5, in which he will reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear.

While promoting his comedy tour, the Shifting Gears star gave a general idea of what the next installment of the animated film would be about and teased an “unbelievable” scene with his character.

“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Allen said in an interview with Wivb. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

Jessie is the cowgirl rag doll who first appeared in 1999’s Toy Story 2 and was voiced by Joan Cusack.

Allen had previously teased the film after completing his first session in the recording studio.

“Well, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say.

“Woody and I Do Realign”: Tim Allen Shares Some ‘Toy Story 5’ Plot Details That Are Beyond Exciting
Image
Buzz Lightyear is blasting off again — and he’s bringing some familiar friends with him. While promoting his stand-up tour and hit ABC series Shifting Gears, Tim Allen dropped a tantalizing tease about his long-awaited return as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5. During a recent interview with Wivb ahead of his April 25 performance at Fallsview Casino, the comedy legend opened up about his busy schedule — and yes, that includes a new chapter in Pixar’s flagship franchise.

Allen gave an update on the production of Toy Story 5, which will mark the first film in the series since 2019’s bittersweet Toy Story 4which served as a lovely epilogue to the original story. While he stayed tight-lipped on spoilers, Allen did offer some key insights into where things are heading next for the beloved toys.

“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign.

‘Shifting Gears’: 5 Things We Need to Happen in Season 2
Image
Shifting Gears ended Season 1 on a few cliffhangers. The ABC sitcom follows Matt Parker (Tim Allen), a widowed father who runs a car repair shop and whose daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and grandchildren (Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis) move in with him after her marriage becomes on the rocks. The final episode of Season 1 saw Riley’s husband, Jimmy (Lucas Neff), come back into town and tell her that he was offered a spot to open for the Foo Fighters. But first, he asked if she wanted to get back together. Instead of answering him right away, Riley gave him divorce papers by the end of the episode. This led to her childhood best friend/brother’s friend/dad’s coworker, Gabriel (Seann William Scott), confessing his feelings to her. However, she didn’t hear him because she’d fallen asleep on her couch after drinking too much at a party.

'Shifting Gears' Kat Dennings "Genuinely Forgot" She Was in the MCU
Image
Tim Allen’s co-star in his latest sitcom just shared a hilarious story on her social media. Allen stars alongside Kat Dennings in Shifting Gears, the comedy following a headstrong widower, Matt (Allen), who owns a classic car workshop. When his newly separated daughter and her teenage children arrive at his house, they begin to work on restoring more than just cars. Before teaming up with Allen for Shifting Gears, Dennings made a name for herself by starring alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Charlie Bartlett. She then further expanded her stardom by joining the MCU, but the Shifting Gears star recently took to her Threads account to share that while roaming the grounds at Avengers Campus, she didn’t understand why people were waving at her. For a fleeting moment, Dennings completely forgot that she’s an MCU star.

Kat Dennings earned a credit for her role as Darcy in five MCU projects.

Christopher Landon Says Creative Differences Led to ‘Arachnophobia’ Exit, Reveals His Body Horror Take | Exclusive
Image
Not long ago, director Christopher Landon of “Happy Death Day” and “Freaky” fame was attached to a remake of low-key horror comedy classic “Arachnophobia.”

In fact, the last time TheWrap talked to Landon — around the time of his Netflix movie “We Have a Ghost” — he was coming from a meeting where he was picking out the spiders that would star in his take on the 1990 original.

This didn’t end up happening, as Landon revealed that he is no longer attached to “Arachnophobia.”

While we were chatting with Landon about his excellent new thriller “Drop,” we had to ask – what was his take on “Arachnophobia?”

“I wrote a script that I loved. I actually think it was one of my best,” he explained. “But the problem with that is that you still have to deal with other people who have different opinions about what kind of movie we should be making.

Why Kaitlyn Dever's Eve Baxter Left Last Man Standing
Image
2011 was a huge year for Kaitlyn Dever. Though she was only 14 at the time, the up-and-coming actor booked small parts in two high profile movies ("Bad Teacher" and Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar"), popped as tough Kentucky cookie Loretta McCready in the magnificent second season of "Justified," and joined the main cast of Tim Allen's new sitcom "Last Man Standing." That's quite a range of shows and films, and this ensured Dever would get to flaunt her burgeoning talent all the way across the demographic spectrum.

For families with young viewers, "Last Man Standing" was the kind of relentlessly inoffensive sitcom they could watch together without worrying there'd be a ribald gag or profanity. Say what you will about Allen (and I'm quite certain the cocaine dealers he snitched on in 1978 to avoid serving a length prison sentence have said plenty about him), he knows what his audience expects from him,...

ABC Renews Five Shows, Including Veteran Dramas ‘9-1-1,’ ‘The Rookie’ & ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Image
As the 2024-2025 television season winds down, ABC is already looking to the future, renewing veteran dramas “9-1-1,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” as well as freshman sitcom “Shifting Gears.”

The five shows join the already renewed comedy “Abbott Elementary” and breakout hit drama “High Potential” as scripted shows returning to the network for the 2025-2026 television season.

In terms of new shows, the network has handed a straight-to-series order to “9-1-1: Nashville,” a spinoff of “9-1-1” that will star Chris O’Donnell.

“9-1-1” Renewed for Season 9

Produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, and set to enter its ninth season (third on ABC), “9-1-1” was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, and explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions. Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16 is One of the Best Episodes, but One Main Character Vehemently Disagrees
Image
Okay, I think everyone would agree that Fire Country delivered one of their best episodes yet. There was a little bit of everything for everyone on “Dirty Money,” and we have to talk about how good it was.

I wasn’t kidding either about there being a little something of everything. For a brief part of the episode, we legit had ourselves a murder mystery.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Fire Country Season 3 has been the best so far. The writing, from plotting to character development, has skyrocketed in quality.

(Courtesy of CBS)

Not to mention, the cases no longer feel like a rinse-and-repeat from one catastrophe to another.

Before we get to the multiple juicy parts of Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16, we need to get some minor plots out of the way.

Honestly, as much improvement as the show has made, there...

Fiona Dourif on The Pitt’s Fast-Paced, Communal Experience, Getting a Win, and #FreeMcKay
Image
Who else wants to kickstart the #FreeMcKay campaign?

It can’t just be us. After the harrowing events of the mass shooting, it seemed that things were dying down for Cassie McKay and the rest of the hospital on The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14.

But that wasn’t the case when the final moments had the cops coming to arrest McKay after a long day of saving lives because she tampered with her ankle monitor. Boo! Hiss. Leave our girl alone!

( Warrick Page/Max)

I proudly say that McKay is “our girl” because The Pitt has done a phenomenal job presenting us with relatable, very real characters that resonate with the audience.

And without a doubt, McKay is one of those compelling characters.

ABC Renews 7 TV Shows Including ‘Abbott Elementary’ & ‘The Rookie,’ ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Season 2 Still Uncertain
Image
Ah, the soul-crushing anguish of watching a TV show you’ve poured your heart into get canceled before its time. It’s like reaching the final page of a gripping novel only to realize the last chapter has mysteriously disappeared. No closure, no satisfying resolution—just an emotional black hole where your TV joy used to be.

But ABC’s recent renewal of seven beloved shows, including Abbott Elementary and The Rookie, comes as a sigh of relief for fans who’ve invested their hearts in these characters and stories. Meanwhile, nestled within the good news is a pang of uncertainty: the fate of Doctor Odyssey remains in limbo. That’s right, the high-profile, star-studded Ryan Murphy series might get scrapped after just one season.

Shifting Gears: Season Two Renewal; Tim Allen & Kat Dennings Sitcom to Return for 2025-26
Matt and Riley are going to be living together for a while. ABC has renewed the Shifting Gears series for a second year and the 2025-26 TV season. The sitcom's first season of 10 episodes finished airing last month.

A multi-camera comedy series, the Shifting Gears TV show was created by Julie Thacker Scully & Mike Scully. It stars Tim Allen, Kat Dennings, Seann William Scott, Daryl Chill Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. Jenna Elfman recurs. In the story, Matt (Allen) is the stubborn and widowed owner of a garage that specializes in fixing vintage and custom cars. Helping him are wisecracking and wheelchair-bound Stich (Mitchell) and handsome but not too bright Gabriel (Scott). Matt’s world is turned upside down when his estranged wild-child daughter returns, driving the Pontiac Pto she "borrowed" from him 15 years earlier.

ABC is keeping its foot on the gas as a leading network for dramas and comedies. The network has now revealed that it is renewing some of its biggest shows, including 9-1-1, Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, Will Trent and more. Also among the shows lucky enough to get a renewal is Shifting Gears, starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, which will have a second season.

There’s a Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 14 Review as well, but for those who are interested in a scene-by-scene breakdown. We have you covered here.

Let’s get into it.

Simone preps for the surgery she’ll be performing on Molly later on that day.

Bailey and Teddy are headed to a conference in Oakland, and Teddy and Owen keep alluding to how they’re open to whatever they’re apart from each other for the weekend.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 13 Sets Up Strong Mentorships, But Some Romances Take Serious Hits
Image
If there’s something Grey’s Anatomy loves to pieces, it’s a mess.

Seriously, after Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 13, they brought on the relationship drama big time, but some of it was entirely due.

Also, the interns, or are they residents now? have taken great strides in their careers and are trying to figure out their future.

(Disney/Eric McCandless) Simone is the One to Watch

One of the most delightful aspects of this hour was that they reminded us again of how great Simone is as a doctor.

Since this new generation of young doctors entered the picture, many of them are as close to the original interns as we’ve gotten in two decades, and it’s evident that Simone is at the center of it.

Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 17 Was So Busy Giving Carisi Closure It Completely Undermined Its Mission To Support Survivors
Image
I have several bones to pick with Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 17.

“Accomplice Liability” revolved around giving Carisi closure. Great.

But isn’t this show supposed to be about supporting survivors? I’m sorry, but this one was too focused on Carisi’s pain, at the expense of its central message about empowerment.

(Peter Kramer/NBC) The Tess Subplot Continued A Recent Disturbing Trend

When Tess was raped during the hostage situation on Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 8, I felt like that was tacked on to the episode in order to justify spending an entire hour on Carisi being held hostage by robbers.

The Tess subplot on Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 17 did nothing to change my mind about that — if anything, it proved my point.

He catches a heavy toolbox that holds a stuffed elephant with crossed-out eyes. He falls to the ground, seemingly rising as a different person — one who does appreciate the nature. Well, as a way to get back at Carl. He’s coming for him.

He picks up the stuffie and begins walking away.

If you’re like me, you felt a little out of sorts during the second season. Luke had lost his powers at the end of SurrealEstate Season 1, along with his dad, his earnest quest for his mom, and his new girlfriend, Megan.

Oh yes, Found Fanatics. We’re Back!

It’s time for a scene-by-scene recap of Found Season 2 Episode 17, and if you want a full review of the episode, you can check it out right here.

Found Season 2 Episode 17’s Explosive Heather Revelation Leaves Us and Gabi Reeling

We finally have that Heather confirmation!

Sure, most of us probably surmised as much about Heather’s relationship to Sir, but that didn’t make the closing moments of Found Season 2 Episode 17 any less satisfying as the mystery surrounding this character was laid to rest.

Of course, the hour was also lovely in capturing just how important Gabi is to the Found family and teased at her origin story for many of the other characters. And Sir’s own, Mark-Paul Gosselaar took a spin in the director’s chair and showed off more of his talents!

Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 16 Brings in a Showtime Star as a Clutter Guru Who Makes a Murderous Mess
Image
For an episode centered around love, Elsbeth sure chose some odd relationships to depict. There’s campy comedy, and then there is mildly obscure humor, which has found its way onto the show.

There were a lot of hands at play in weaving this particular episode. For one, whoever created the character Freya is probably not the same person who suggested she be in a throuple.

The Elsbeth writers had some fun with “Hot Tub Crime Machine” and with Mary-Louise Parker’s character. She was the perfect example of what happens when crazy meets controlling.

(Michael Parmelee/CBS)

Along with that, the series is shifting gears and preparing for a new dynamic around the precinct.

Elsbeth feels like a different show without Kaya and Miss Tascioni attached at the hip every second, but I can see why the hands behind the show would want to nip that in the bud.
