Twenty-five years ago I experienced Robert Zemeckis’ bone-chilling ghost story What Lies Beneath in theaters. I was thirteen at the time and remember being blown away by it in the moment. At the time, I was ecstatic about X-Men, which I’d seen the week prior. I distinctly remember walking out of the small theater in my home town and declaring, “That was better than X-Men!” I hadn’t seen What Lies Beneath since the early 2000s, and while I no longer think it’s better than Bryan Singer’s original entry in the long running Marvel franchise, it still holds up as a well-crafted ghost story featuring strong performances from two Hollywood icons.

Gale has been vocal in the past about where he stands with regard to a sequel, but now he's addressed other possibilities, such as spin-offs, and similarly struck them down with a decisive lightning bolt.

Per a report by Screen Crush, Gale attended the Universal Fan Fest Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, where Back to the Future had its own "in-world experience." It was there that the writer addressed the chances for Back to the Future 4, and he actually gave a candid answer that should (hopefully) convince everyone not to ask him again:

"I don't know why they keep talking about that! I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?...

Netflix, the streaming service famous for not streaming older movies and not bringing movies to the big screen, is – in a surprise twist – bringing a bunch of old movies to the big screen!

The Hollywood Reporter has announced this afternoon that the Netflix-owned Paris Theater in New York will be celebrating Alfred Hitchcock with screenings of 36 of his movies.

“The series — Hitch! The Original Cinema Influencer — will run May 16 to June 29 at the Paris Theater, which Netflix purchased in 2019,” THR details. “The films range from Hitchcock’s early works such as Blackmail to enduring hits such as Psycho and The Birds.”

In addition to the big screen series, a collection of classic Alfred Hitchcock films will be available to stream on Netflix in the US featuring some of his most iconic works starting June 1.

The Last Mrs. Parrish is based on author Liv Constantine’s 2017 novel that was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club selection and has sold more than a million copies. The book centers on Amber Patterson concocting a plan to get closer to the wealthy Daphne Parrish, whose lavish life Amber envies.

Jennifer Lopez will star in Netflix’s adaptation of “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” with “Forrest Gump” filmmaker Robert Zemeckis set to direct.

Netflix landed rights to Liv Constantine’s best-selling book in 2021. The psychological thriller centers on a twisted con-artist who targets a wealthy couple — the Parrishes — as her next victims. She infiltrates the pair by befriending the wife and seducing the husband, with the master plan of becoming the next Mrs. Parrish, only to discover that the wife’s life is far more complicated than she could have imagined. Additional casting has not been announced yet.

Andrea Berloff (“The Mother”) and John Gatins (“Flight”) are writing the screenplay. When the film version of “The Last Mrs. Parrish” was announced in 2021, Lisa Rubin (who created Netflix’s TV series “Gypsy”) was originally hired to pen the script.

Exclusive: Netflix and Jennifer Lopez are building on their strong partnership for the superstar’s next project, with plans to team her with an iconic director. Sources tell Deadline that Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis has come on to direct an adaptation of The Last Mrs. Parrish, with Lopez on board to star.

The film is in development with Andrea Berloff and Oscar nominee John Gatins penning the script. This marks a reunion for Zemeckis and Gatins, who worked together on the Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington drama Flight.
