Image
Most successful Biographical movies or biopics? (Photo Credit – Instagram/Hotstar)

Biographical movies have been glorifying the lives of extraordinary individuals. Films, ranging from musical legends to political icons, have not only shed light to their unbearable struggles but also highlighted how they overcame all of them to become who they are today.

Over the decades, biopics have proven to be one of the most successful mantras in gaining attention from movie lovers and here are the top 5 highest-grossing biopics of all time, measured by their worldwide box-office revenue.

1. Oppenheimer (2023)- ($975M)

Well, it does not take a lot of time and effort to figure out which film takes the crown in the category, even if you are not a big Hollywood fan. The Christopher Nolan masterpiece, as name suggests, chronicles the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the infamous nuclear physicist who was the mastermind for creating the first nuclear bomb...

Which Billion-Dollar Hollywood Movie Was Made On The Lowest Budget?
Image
What’s the cheapest movie that slayed at the box office? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

There’s something inherently fascinating about a film that defies financial odds. Hollywood blockbusters usually never shy away from ballooning budgets, multi-million dollar CGI, and A-list paychecks. So when a movie crosses the coveted billion-dollar mark at the global box office, the assumption is almost always the same: they must have spent a fortune to make it. But not every record-breaking success was built on excess. Some relied more on clever storytelling, genre innovation, and pure fan power.

Among the many films that have made it into the elite billion-dollar club, a few stand out not for what they spent, but for what they didn’t. While modern franchises like Avengers or Fast & Furious are known for their towering costs, there’s one surprise entry that quietly made cinematic history by grossing ten figures on a comparatively modest investment.

Who Is The Richest Thunderbolts* Star? It’s Not Florence Pugh!
Image
Who is the top earner for Marvel’s Thunderbolts? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Fans may’ve expected big MCU names like Sebastian Stan or Florence Pugh to top the financial charts for the movie. But plot twist — it is Julia Louis-Dreyfus who quietly flexed the fattest bank account behind the scenes.

Yep, the comedic queen who played Valentina Allegra de Fontaine had a jaw-dropping net worth of $250 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). That number left her Thunderbolts co-stars trailing by miles. While she pulled strings in the shadows on screen, off-screen she ruled the paycheck leaderboard. Julia wasn’t new to commanding attention, she dominated sitcom royalty with Seinfeld, crushed awards with Veep, and later slid into the MCU with the same effortless power.

The rest of the cast? Not exactly broke, but nowhere close. Florence Pugh, known for flipping between emotional depth in Little Women and intense action in Black Widow,...

Top 4 Finale MCU Movies Ranked By Box Office Performances
Image
Top 4 finale Marvel moves ranked ( Photo Credit – X )

The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t just famous superheroes thrown together to pull fans. It is built on a structure. Each phase of the MCU has a clear arc, beginning with a spark and ending with a bang. These final entries aren’t just a story’s end. They’re the victory lap, the emotional payoff, and, often, the biggest swing. With Thunderbolts* positioned as the finale of Phase Five, all eyes are on how it performs, both narratively and financially. But before we measure its impact, let’s take a look back.

From The Avengers in Phase One to Wakanda Forever closing out Phase Four, each final film has played a unique role in how its phase was remembered. Some exploded at the box office and became cultural events. Others, while critically appreciated, didn’t soar quite as high in global earnings.

Final Destination: Did A Survivor’s Last-Minute Decision Inspire The Iconic Horror Franchise?
Image
Did a real tragedy inspire The Final Destination? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

What if skipping a flight could spark a billion-dollar horror franchise? That’s exactly what happened—sort of Final Destination, the now-iconic supernatural thriller, wasn’t just a twisted brainchild cooked up in Hollywood. It was inspired by a real-life story that still gives people goosebumps.

Jeffrey Reddick, the mastermind behind the franchise, looked back at how it all began during a promo chat for his movie Til Death Do Us Part (via Collider). While catching up with fans, Reddick dropped a fun little behind-the-scenes fact: Final Destination was born from an eerie article he read while flying home to Kentucky.

“I read an article about a woman who was on a flight… her mom told her not to take it because she had a bad feeling. She switched planes, and the one she was supposed to be on crashed,...

Were Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort & Severus Snape Related By Bloodlines? Here’s What We Think
Image
Exploring The Hidden Ties Of Harry Potter, Voldemort & Professor Snape! ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

The wizarding world of Harry Potter is filled with long bloodlines and ancient families. From the sacred pure-blood families to half-bloods and Muggle-borns, lineage matters greatly in this universe, sometimes far more than it should. While much of the focus in the story is on heroism and sacrifice, family connections are often quietly influential. The question of who’s related to whom isn’t just trivia; it can shape a character’s destiny.

This is especially true when it comes to three of the most important names in the saga: Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter, and Severus Snape. They represent the extremes of morality in the series: evil, innocence, and complexity. But their lives are more intertwined than most realize. It’s not just about shared history or circumstance; when you dig deep into their family trees,...

Image
How Much Did Robert Downey Jr. Really Earn From Marvel?(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Back in 2008, when Marvel took a big swing by casting Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in Iron Man, few could have guessed how massively that decision would pay off for the studio and the actor himself. At the time, Downey was considered a risk. But as the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploded in popularity, so did Rdj’s earnings, thanks to smart negotiations and back-end profit deals.

Chris Tucker’s First Audition For Friday Was Dubbed “Horrible” — Here’s How He Turned It Around
Image
Was Chris Tucker’s First Friday Audition Was A Disaster? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Chris Tucker almost fumbled the bag, big time. Before his breakout as Smokey in Friday, his first shot at the role was anything but smooth. In fact, casting director Kim Hardin didn’t sugarcoat it. “The first time he auditioned for me, he was horrible,” she recalled. Tucker was fresh off a comedy tour, unprepared, and hadn’t even read the script.

He didn’t know comedians could improvise during auditions, which caught him off guard. Most casting directors would’ve passed. As Hardin put it (via Complex), “Any other casting director may have been like, ‘You were horrible. Next!’” But she gave him another shot. And that second try? Pure fire.

Friday wasn’t just another comedy. It was Ice Cube and DJ Pooh’s response to movies like Boyz n the Hood. They wanted to...

Gary Oldman & Bruce Willis’ 28-Year-Old Sci-Fi Film Polarized Critics En Route to Becoming One of the Most Successful Films of the 1990s
Image
In a decade of sci-fi blockbusters, the 90s delivered some of the genre's biggest hits, from The Matrix and Jurassic Park to Men in Black and Starship Troopers. But most sci-fi of the time followed a familiar formula: sleek and somewhat serious. That was until The Fifth Element, a neon-soaked sci-fi comedy that brought space operas, high fashion, and wild, comic-book energy.

Starring Bruce Willis as a cynical ex-soldier and Gary Oldman as a cartoonish villain, the film bent the genre rules. And, while critics didn’t know what to make of it, audiences did. It became one of the highest-grossing sci-fi films of the decade, turning its opposing style into part of its legacy.

The Fifth Element Is a Dystopian Classic

The Fifth Element follows Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), a former special forces soldier turned taxi driver in a futuristic New York. But when LeeLoo – a genetically modified alien...

Why Rush Hour 4 Is Unnecessary
Image
The Rush Hour franchise created one of the quintessential buddy comedy duos of the ‘90s and early 2000’s with its pairing of Jackie Chan (one of the greatest action heroes of the '90s) and Chris Tucker, and nearly 20 years after the release of the (frankly forgettable) Rush Hour 3, many continue to wonder when and if Rush Hour 4 will ever get off the ground. Here’s something that might be called a hot take – not only will Rush Hour 4 probably never happen, it also probably should never happen. The only thing more surprising than someone laying their...

Ice Cube’s Cult Favorite Comedy Franchise Dominating Netflix Charts As Its Final Movie Remains In Development Hell
Image
A cult classic comedy franchise starring Ice Cube has multiple installments trending on streaming three decades after the premiere of the first movie. Ice Cube is best known as a rap icon, having been a key member of the gangsta rap group N.W.A., which was formed in 1987. In the early 1990s, he began a career as an actor, making his feature debut in the 1991 John Singleton classic Boyz n the Hood, following that up with performances in Walter Hill's Trespass and Charles Burnett's The Glass Shield.

However, over the years, Ice Cube began to embrace more of a comic persona onscreen, which led him to star in multiple franchises in the comedy genre over the years. This includes the Barbershop franchise, which now includes three movies, a spinoff, and a television remake. He also starred in the 2005 road trip comedy Are We There Yet? and its 2007 sequel Are We Done Yet?...

One Of 2023's Best Fantasy Movies Is Finally Finding An Audience On Netflix
Image
"Dungeons & Dragons" is a tricky fantasy brand. Just about everyone knows what it is, and lots of people are quite sure that a role-playing game that requires loads of imagination and a considerable time commitment is not for them -- although, as "Freaks and Geeks" taught us, these folks who think they're anti-d&d are only one campaign away from becoming total converts. This overwhelmingly negative perception some people hold of D&d is likely a big reason why movies based on the game have failed to take off. There's also the fact that the first attempt, 2000's "Dungeons & Dragons," was an unwatchable heap of crap helmed by the shockingly untalented Courtney Solomon. That didn't help at all.

2023's "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" was a different matter entirely. Directed by Jonathan Goldstein and "Freaks and Geeks" alum John Francis Daley, the film boasted a crackerjack cast that included Chris Pine,...

Netflix snuck in 12 more fantastic movies to begin March
Image
The fine folks of Netflix can be sneaky little devils sometimes. Case in point: even though it wasn't announced with their regular slate of releases, Venom: The Last Dance made its bow on the streamer on February 25th. They decided to really up their stealth release game with a dozen more titles on Saturday. That's in addition to the 12 already on the slate.

This turned what was already a strong debut slate into an outstanding group. You'll find iconic comedies with some of the most popular stars of Hollywood, a trio of classic romances, and some knife-edge thrillers. There's drama and action, too.

There's also a pair of underrated horror flicks ready for your screen. Best of all is the addition of the finest films from one the most influential directors of the past 40 years. Like all art forms, film is subjective. But rest assured, I'm not talking about Uwe Boll...

Milla Jovovich Teases Return as Leeloo from ‘The Fifth Element’ in an Animated Spin-Off: “I think Luc is making some sort of spinoff of a bunch of his biggest characters, and Leeloo might be one of them”

Milla Jovovich has hinted that she might reprie her role as Leeloo in an animated spinoff of The Fifth Element. Fifth Element Star Milla Jovovich Teases Return as Leeloo (With 1 Major Change)
Image
The Fifth Element premiered in 1997, but it's now regarded as a cult classic. The sci-fi space adventure from Luc Besson starred Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker and Gary Oldman.

Following its release, the movie received enough positive reviews but its theatrical run wasn't impressive. Although a sequel was planned at the time, it never happened. In a new interview with ComicBook to promote her upcoming fantasy action film, In the Lost Lands, Milla Jovovich teased a new animated spinoff sequel to The Fifth Element.

Every Celebrity Who Has Been Banned by The Oscars
Image
If the Oscars were a high school prom, think of the Academy as the strict principal—one bad move and you’re out. But instead of a tardy slip, it’s a lifetime ban, and instead of a bad dress, it’s a slap across the face or a scandalous crime. While the Oscars may glitter with glamour and red carpet shine, underneath the sequins, there’s a no-nonsense code of conduct that even Hollywood’s brightest stars must follow.

The Oscars roll around every year, but there’s a dark cloud hanging over the event—the infamous ‘No Entry’ list of celebs who’ve crossed the line and earned themselves a one-way ticket out of the Academy.

Will Smith’s Oscar Slap Was as Scripted as Janet Jackson’s Wardrobe Malfunction: Before Exposing P Diddy, Katt Williams Had Some of the Most Wildest Claims
Image
The infamous Oscars Slapgate controversy between Will Smith and Chris Rock sent shockwaves around the world. From dominating headlines and sparking endless memes to putting the actor’s career in jeopardy, the moment has gone down in Academy history for all the wrong reasons. Not only was Will Smith banned from the Academy for his outrageous actions, but his then-upcoming film, Emancipation, also faced uncertainty to the point that the actor had to ask people to not let the team’s hard work go to waste.

While this shocked the world, comedian Katt Williams believes that the controversy was staged, perhaps even more staged than Janet Jackson’s apparent wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl Xxxviii, but more on that later.

“I tried to pu**yfoot around it”: Dwyane Wade Tried Breaking Up With Gabrielle Union After Conceiving a Kid With Another Woman
Image
Former NBA star Dwyane Wade recently shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer previously. Although he seems to be doing fine now, he had to have almost half of his left kidney removed for the treatment. Wade stated that although it wasn’t easy going through that, his family was always by his side to help him through it.

Interestingly, Wade’s family life hasn’t always been smooth. Although he and his wife Gabrielle Union have been happily married for a long time, they faced quite a few bumps at the beginning of their relationship.

In fact, there was a time when their relationship almost threatened to crumble due to an incident, the impact of which they can feel even now. Wade once stated that talking that out with his now-wife was harder than even playing in the NBA finals.

When you think of Will Smith you think of many things, whether it is his unending list of blockbusters, the 2022 Slapgate controversy, or his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Married since 1997 couple has been open about the highs and lows of their time together. While they have stuck with each other since then, she revealed in 2022 that they have been “separated” since 2016. ‘Rush Hour 2’ Extras Pocketed the Movie’s Fake Cash and Then Tried to Spend It
Image
The franchise may be hopelessly tainted now, thanks to director Brett Ratner, but a whole lot of people have been watching the Rush Hour movies lately. Both Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 are currently in Netflix’s Top 10 — of course, the list also contains Boss Baby, so it isn’t exactly the highest of honors.

While the Rush Hour series is mostly remembered for its martial arts action (and Chris Tucker being Chris Tucker action), one of the most interesting things about Rush Hour 2 is that it inadvertently inspired multiple people to commit a federal crime.

The sequel finds Detective Carter and Chief Inspector Lee teaming up to battle a counterfeiting ring, which, it turns out, is laundering the fraudulent cash through their casino. So, naturally, the filmmakers needed to acquire a lot of fake money for the shoot. One sequence literally involved Jackie Chan beating up some...

7 iconic buddy comedies to stream right now
Image
A night out with your best friends is still the best night ever.

I saw “One of Them Days” in theaters over the weekend and I have to recommend it. It’s a buddy comedy that follows two best friends (Keke Palmer and Sza) who are trying to make rent before they’re kicked out of their apartment. The film is funny and heartfelt – the two leads have a ton of chemistry, you believe they’ve been best friends for a decade – and the plot is wild and entertaining. Ultimately, it’s about what buddy comedies are about: a great friendship that makes each person better. It got me thinking about other awesome buddy comedies out there – so, here are my favorite top seven buddy comedy movies you can stream right now.

Chris Tucker On The Enduring Appeal Of ‘Rush Hour’
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour (1998)
Image Source: Warner Bros When the first Rush Hour movie hit theaters in 1998, it captured worldwide attention, earning over $240 million at the global box office. Its overwhelming success introduced audiences to one of cinema’s most unforgettable duos—fast-talking LAPD detective James Carter (played by Chris Tucker) and stoic yet skilled Hong Kong Chief Inspector Lee (brought to life by Jackie Chan). The combination was so well-loved that it led to two blockbuster sequels, and speculation about a fourth installment still keeps fans excited. The magic of Rush Hour lies in the unmatched chemistry between its stars. Carter’s humor and larger-than-life personality perfectly complement Lee’s calm and calculated demeanor, creating a partnership that feels genuine and relatable. Over the years we have spoken with Tucker who reflected on their teamwork, highlighting how the blend of their contrasting energies struck a chord with audiences and continues to resonate with fans.

Jackie Chan & Johnny Knoxville’s Buddy Action Comedy 'Skiptrace' Hits Max Next Month
Image
Jackie Chan is known for hurting himself when performing his own stunts, and the action and martial arts icon joined forces with another guy who is also known for self-injury, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, for the buddy cop action comedy Skiptrace, which is headed for Max next month. Directed by Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger’s Renny Harlin, Skiptrace pairs Chan and Knoxville together after a Hong Kong detective finds himself teaming up with an American gambler to take down a major criminal.

Written by Jay Longino and BenDavid Grabinski, Skiptrace stars Fan Bingbing, Eve Torres, Eric Tsang, Winston Chao, and Yeon Jung-hoon alongside Chan and Knoxville. Released in 2016, Skiptrace was met with a... not-exactly-ideal response from critics, with the action movie receiving a “rotten” score of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes and a somehow-even-worse score of 27 from audiences on the Popcornmeter.

However, while it may not be one of the most...

Chris Tucker Is Confident Will Smith Could Have Never Slapped Him if He Was Hosting Oscars Not Chris Rock
Image
The smack heard worldwide will forever be tied to the 94th Academy Awards, when Will Smith, reacting to a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, stormed the stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face. But what if the host had been someone else? Chris Tucker isn’t just assuming; he’s downright certain. According to him, Will Smith wouldn’t have even gotten close enough to make contact.

10 Underrated Movie Trilogies Every Film Buff Needs to See at Least Once
Image
Movie trilogies are a favorite topic for film buffs, but truly great ones are in short supply. Popular trilogies like The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, and the original Star Wars trilogy dominate the spotlight. These may be the most well-known and have significant renown, but many others stand out.

Many trilogies are overlooked, either because they come from lesser-known IPs or were released internationally. Animated trilogies, despite being a consistent source of quality, often fly under the radar. Additionally, thematic trilogies—those connected by theme rather than a continuous plot—offer some of the richest cinematic experiences.

10 Best Chris Tucker Movies, Ranked

‘Jackie Brown’ and the Vulnerable Q.T.
Image
During the Christmas season of 1997—still hot from Pulp Fiction and a media blitzkrieg that might make a Kardashian blush—Quentin Tarantino dropped the hipster video-clerk attitude and made a “late” movie way ahead of his years. Tarantino was only 34 when Jackie Brown was released, and yet this is a film that’s quite persuasively about the pain and mixed blessings of aging. Correspondingly, Tarantino slowed down his approach to filmmaking, prioritizing lived-in textures over the shock and awe that marks the violence of his earlier work.

The difference in sensibility between Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown can be encapsulated by two respective scenes in cars. In the former, a young man getting his head accidentally splattered against a rear window is treated by Tarantino as comedy. And it is funny, as another display of Tarantino’s brash insistence that moral posturing isn’t a concern of his. Like an...

If you missed 'Rush Hour 2' before then here is why you should watch now
Image
Rush Hour 2 needs no introduction. When the first movie came out in 1998, no one could have imagined the acclaim and success it would achieve – earning millions at the box office and basically begging for the next part. Usually, nothing exceptional ever comes out of sequels and neither is it expected.

Almost every time, the virgin feeling of the movie concept is absent, the storyline is on a similar pattern, there is no plot mystery and the viewer's feeling for expecting something new is usually not there. It is because, in most cases, the second or third part feels like the continuation of the same idea or maybe something new but on a slightly different tangent. Rush Hour 2 feels just like that. However, it is not implied in any way that the movie is bad – In fact the complete opposite.

You will find watching Rush Hour 2 like coming...

“A completely different kind of picture”: Tom Cruise’s Only Action Flop Nearly Starred a ‘Rush Hour’ Legend That Wasn’t Jackie Chan

The action films in Tom Cruise’s filmography are varied and are at different levels of amazing. The actor is best known for the Mission Impossible franchise but he is a star who is also beyond franchises. The success that Top Gun: Maverick received despite being a sequel for a film that was released over forty years ago is a testament to his stardom.

One of Cruise’s action fares that was on the more modest side at the box office was Knight and Day. The James Mangold directorial also starred Cameron Diaz and Cruise played a spy on the run. Despite the film being centered on Cruise, the original choice for the character was reportedly not him but a beloved, loud-mouthed actor from Rush Hour.
