Rumor: Dafne Keen To Return As Laura/X-23; Update On Marvel's Plans For The X-men
Image
We didn't expect to see Dafne Keen as X-23 again following her acclaimed turn in James Mangold's Logan, but the young actress was given the opportunity to reprise the role in Shawn Levy's Deadpool and Wolverine as part of a Void Resistance team alongside Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and the late Johnny Storm (Chris Evans).

Laura appears again in the closing moments of the movie, having reunited with Logan and the Merc With a Mouth, leaving the door open for her eventual return.

Hugh Jackman is expected to play Wolverine at least one more time before we see a new team of mutants makes their debut in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot, and it looks like his daughter/clone will be joining him.

According to Mttsh, Keen is set to return to the MCU. Avengers: Doomsday is possible, but if not, she will likely suit-up for Secret Wars.

40 Best Comic Book Movies of All-Time
Richard Donner at an event for 16 Blocks (2006)
Comics, for decades, have been an integral mainstay of popular literature. Though often undermined and unappreciated by many, superheroes and many others have touched the lives of millions through the pages of their colourful worlds. It’s been a long, strange journey for the comic book genre, and its path to cinematic success was equally challenging. We’ve seen Richard Donner’s “Superman” prove to the world in 1978 that there was, indeed, an audience for live-action superhero flicks, and then Tim Burton would reassure that notion again in 1989, with his groundbreaking blockbuster “Batman”. Then, of course, any ounce of progress that comics had made in the film industry was utterly destroyed and denounced upon release of the 1997 abomination that is “Batman and Robin”.

With help from “Blade” and “X-Men”, followed by Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” in 2002 and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins” in 2005, comic books had reclaimed their spot amongst...

“Give Me a Call”: Original ‘Blade’ Writer Knows How to Fix Mahershala Ali’s Troubled MCU Movie
Image
One former Blade writer says he knows how to fix the MCU’s troubled vampire movie that has undergone so much turmoil it's been removed from the release schedule entirely. With no director currently attached and only Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth remaining in the cast, things are looking bleak for Blade at the moment. It’s been more than 20 years since Wesley Snipes wrapped up his Blade trilogy, which was penned by David S. Goyer, who also directed Blade: Trinity. Goyer recently caught up with ScreenRant at the premiere for his new Apple TV+ series, Murderbot, and when asked what Marvel Studios needs to do to crack the code of a successful Blade movie, he simply said, "Give me a call." Goyer was also asked if he would pen the script for the MCU’s Blade if he was asked:

"I would. I've always loved the character and I love him,...

'Blade' Trilogy Writer David S. Goyer Wants To Write Mahershala Ali MCU Film
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be riding on a high thanks to the critical and early financial success of Thunderbolts* (The New Avengers), but one title that seems to be giving them some stress is Blade. Mahershala Ali was announced to be taking on the titular role at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, and since the reveal of that big news, the film has been delayed indefinitely due to script rewrites and director changes. Given the fact that the film has continued to stall, fans aren't optimistic that the movie will come to fruition, but someone from Blade's past would like a crack at getting the project on track. David S. Goyer, who penned the original Blade trilogy, has entered the chat, and it sounds like he'd like a chance to get the daywalker back on the big screen.

During a chat with ScreenRant, Goyer chimed in on the Blade debacle...

Do The Spike Thing: The Defiant Director on Reuniting With Denzel, Bad Money and Resisting Trump
Image
Spike Lee arrives for this interview in Los Angeles fresh off of Steven Spielberg’s plane, wearing a New York Knicks hat and jacket. He’ll be quickly changing into a black-and-white suit covered in tiny Michael Jordan silhouettes to speak at Francis Ford Coppola’s AFI Life Achievement Award Ceremony in Hollywood, then will hop on another plane so that he can sit courtside at a Knicks playoff game in Detroit on Sunday morning. For some people, this itinerary might be a flex. For Spike Lee, this is Saturday night.

In May, Lee, 68, is heading to France to premiere Highest 2 Lowest at the Cannes Film Festival beside his longtime collaborator Denzel Washington, who plays a music mogul confronted with the dilemma of — well — how to do the right thing. It’s a question Lee has been prodding moviegoers about for the past 36 years, since his first trip to Cannes...

Mahershala Ali's Blade Finally Gets Some Good News
Image
After years of false starts and production hiccups, fans finally got some good news to do with Mahershala Ali's Blade movie. Ali's debut as the iconic Marvel Comics character (previously played by Wesley Snipes in the Og Blade trilogy) has long been teased by the MCU. Yet, nothing meaningful has come to bear in the super-powered franchise, leading many to believe his movie has been canceled.

According to a new report from insider Daniel Richtman, the Mahershala Ali Blade movie is still in the works. This news comes despite reports that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have put it on ice or, worse, outright abandoned the project after years of troubled development. It could, however, indicate Marvel now has plans for the character beyond the bounds of his movie.

Richtman revealed the news on his Patreon page, writing, "Even tho Blade is on pause,...

Deadpool & Wolverine Was One Of 2024's Most Profitable Movies - Here's How Much The R-Rated MCU Title Made
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine broke box office records when it opened in theaters this time last year, scoring the highest opening weekend ever for an R-Rated movie.

The Marvel Studios movie ultimately grossed $1.338 billion worldwide, proving to Hollywood pundits that all their talk of "superhero fatigue" had come too soon. However, it was also a stark reminder for the studio that people will now only turn up for an MCU movie when it's a true must-see event.

Deadline has crunched the numbers and revealed that, despite "massive participations at $130M for [Ryan] Reynolds, [Hugh] Jackman and [Shawn] Levy," Deadpool & Wolverine turned a $400 million profit.

That's more than all of 2023's superhero movies, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse ($328 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($124 million).

Reynolds has remained firm in saying that Deadpool 4 isn't on the horizon. However, we'd have to believe Disney is willing to give him whatever he wants to...

If This Doesn’t Solve Kevin Feige’s Blade Problem, Then Nothing Will: Ryan Coogler Talks His Favorite Vampire Movie
Image
Director Ryan Coogler is riding high with his breakout horror movie’s success. In a recent premiere of his vampire-themed movie Sinners, Coogler was asked a playful yet pointed question: who’s his favorite Black vampire? His answer wasn’t exactly shocking but it sent the internet into a frenzy. The reaction was instant, hilarious, and oddly satisfying.

In other news, Marvel Studios has been trying to resurrect Blade for years, but the path has been anything but smooth. And suddenly, after Coogler’s witty reply, one thing is clear, if Marvel boss Kevin Feige is still looking for someone to rescue the long-delayed Blade reboot, he may not need to look any further than the man who once already helmed a Marvel blockbuster.

Sinners' Michael B. Jordan Takes Over Blade Role in MCU Reboot Poster Art
Image
The Blade reboot is now six years stalled in development, many fear the movie is never happening. Fans are rallying behind Mahershala Ali's casting, but that hasn't stopped others from pitching alternates. Sinners just bumped Michael B. Jordan up the short list of candidates.

One fan has reimagined Michael B. Jordan as Blade in concept art posted on Instagram. User arifinity's pitch is a long shot but worth considering, especially after Sinners' breakout run at the box office. There's buzz around that film's impeccable casting and genre-defying narrative; horror fans are also relishing the second half's plot twist. The ensemble delivered a solid performance all around, but Jordan's dual role is the easy standout. The movie demonstrates his range, and it's easy to see why fans want to see him lead an action film.

Blade 4 Takes Another Unexpected Creative Hit

Blade 4 continues to experience a slew of bad luck. The film took another hit when Grammy-winning musician Flying Lotus revealed that he would not be composing music for the film.

In a statement on his official X account, the DJ and producer, whose real name is Steven Ellison, confirmed that he was working on the official music for Blade 4 during its development, but that was no longer the case. "I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now. But, yeah, I was signed on to write music for the new Blade movie before it fell [through]," he wrote. "Maybe it’ll come around again, but I doubt it. Would have been fun [though]."

Parker Posey Was the Best Part of The White Lotus Season 3 (Despite Her Horrendous Accent)
Image
We can all agree that this past season of The White Lotus had one of the most newsworthy plots of the series. However, it would be great if the show didn’t resort to such gimmicky storytelling.

To be fair, I doubt many people use “gimmicky” to describe the show, but what else do you call having an incest scene between two brothers?

At least there was one part of the show that did not disappoint.

(Stefano Delia/HBO)

For whatever reason, The White Lotus shines best with as many over-the-top characters as possible. Both sadly and thankfully, Parker Posey was the only character that fit that bill.

If this was your first time experiencing Miss Posey, I can only imagine the things going through your head as she busted out that southern twang.

Flying Lotus Reveals He Was Set To Produce Music for 'Blade' Before Marvel Shelved the Reboot
Image
Blade fans are still patiently awaiting an update on the Marvel film's release. Although it currently seems like it's nowhere in the near future, they still get excited about what "could've been." The film has had various planned release dates, with the latest being November 2025; however, that's no longer happening, and no replacement dates have been shared as before. While many dedicated fans imagine what the film would've looked like, there's no need to guess who would've produced its music. The Grammy Award-winning record producer, Flying Lotus, has now revealed that he was set to produce music for Blade and is holding onto a glimmer of hope that he'll still get the chance...if the MCU reboot ever happens.

Flying Lotus, also known as FlyLo, revealed in an X (formerly Twitter) post that he was indeed signed on to write music for the Marvel film before it was removed from release.

More Evidence Suggests Marvel’s “Blade” Film Is Cancelled
Image
In 2019, Marvel announced they would do a reboot of the popular “Blade” character in the MCU starring Mahershala Ali. Over the years, the film was pushed back due to Covid and then the Hollywood strikes, and now the rumors indicate the film is shelved or canceled.

Originally, Kevin Feige said the film would release on November 3, 2023, with filming beginning in early October 2022 and wrapping in January 2o23. Eventually, the film was given a November 2025 release date, but that too has been removed.

Throughout the production of “Blade” a parade of people associated with the film dropped out, including Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange, Damián García, and several different writers.

Recently, there has been discussion and rumors indicating that the film has been shelved for now.

More evidence suggests “Blade” has been cancelled.

Grammy Award-winning artist Flying Lotus posted that he was writing music for the film and indicated the “Blade” film...

Flying Lotus Reveals He Was Writing Music for MCU’s ‘Blade’ Movie Before It Fell Apart
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any official updates on Marvel’s planned Blade reboot movie, which was originally announced way back in 2019. While Wesley Snipes did reprise his iconic role as New Line’s Daywalker in Deadpool & Wolverine last year, the character’s official introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe still seems to be no closer to reality.

It’s no secret that the brand new Blade movie has been bumped all over the release calendar the last several years, and it’s currently without a date at all after getting pulled from its most recent theatrical release date of November 7, 2025. Not helping is that the movie is without a director at the moment, with Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) departing the project in the wake of Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) exiting the film back in 2022.

Mahershala Ali was attached to play the title character, with...

We Now Know Where Marvel Studios' ‘Blade’ Reboot Fits in the MCU Timeline
Image
Marvel's Blade reboot was pulled from its release schedule in 2024. Before this, the film's production cited directors exiting the project, major delays, and massive shifts towards Marvel's other upcoming releases. While this Mahershala Ali-led superhero movie's details were shrouded in mystery, a former production staff member revealed where this movie would have taken place in the MCU timeline.

Blade's former costume designer, Ruth E. Carter, revealed in an interview that Marvel's Blade would have occurred in the 1920s and would have told a period piece about a vampire. Unfortunately, production was shut down due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and Writers strike, and she, along with other production staff, was stuck in limbo. Fortunately, her research was not wasted, as Ryan Coogler's 2025 feature, Sinners, has a similar setting.

In 2019, Kevin Feige revealed that Blade was in development and would have the two-time Oscar-winning actor to star in the feature.

Ryan Reynolds is Writing a New Deadpool Project But Says Joining the Avengers Would Kill the Character
Image
Deadpool fans had to wait a long time to see the character make his first entry in the MCU, but it seems that now he is here, we are going to be seeing a lot more of him as Ryan Reynolds is already writing the next chapter in the Deadpool franchise. What is more, he also revealed an unexpected plan he pitched to Marvel Studios that would have taken the character into a completely different medium to any other Marvel project.

Speaking to Time Magazine’s Eliana Dockterman, Reynolds was asked about what the future looks like for his multi-billion-dollar franchise, to which he replied:

“I’m writing a little something right now which is like an ensemble, but it's…I like things isolated. If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or X-Men we’re at the end and that’s his wish fulfilment, and you can’t give him that.”

Ryan Reynolds learned 'amazing lessons' from Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds learned "amazing lessons" from 'Green Lantern'.Although the 2011 movie was a critical and commercial flop, Ryan insisted that it helped him to grow as an artist and businessman.Speaking during a 'Business of Creativity' at the 2025 Time 100 Summit, he explained: I learned all the most amazing lessons I could ever have in the creative space from that movie. On that film I saw a lot of money being spent on special effects, all sorts of stuff. And I remember suggesting, ‘Why we don’t we write like a scene the way people would talk? I don’t know, it could be a fun exchange of dialogue that all doesn’t cost anything?’”He added that he takes “lessons of character over spectacle” to heart and said: “The greatest superpower I ever had in my life, I’m not saying about just my career or anything, was knowing who I am.

Ryan Reynolds reflected on his experience playing superheroes and spoke about his business ventures at the 2025 Time 100 Summit on Wednesday.

Though he and others involved with the 2011 Green Lantern film have famously looked back on that project, which was poorly received at the box office and by critics, as a failure, on Wednesday, Reynolds said the experience was actually educational.

Lindo Details Exit from Delayed Blade Reboot After Creative Shift
Delroy Lindo in Ransom (1996)
Delroy Lindo has spoken publicly about his departure from Marvel’s long-delayed Blade reboot, describing the production as one that “just went off the rails” following what he described as initially inclusive and collaborative discussions.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly while promoting his role in Sinners, Lindo said he was approached early in the film’s development and encouraged by the conversations he had with the creative team. “When Marvel came to me, they seemed to be really interested in my input,” he said. “In the various conversations I had with producers, the writer, the director at the time, it was all leading into being very inclusive.”

Lindo joined the project in 2021. The role he was expected to play was conceived with influences from historical Black leadership. “I’m not saying that it would’ve been an out-and-out Garvey-ite,” Lindo said, referring to Marcus Garvey. “But just in...

Delroy Lindo Says Marvel’s Delayed ‘Blade’ Remake “Just Went Off The Rails”
Image
Delroy Lindo opened up about Marvel’s long-delayed Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali, which he describes as having “just went off the rails.”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly to promote Ryan Coogler’s lauded Sinners, the veteran actor commented on the reported creative differences that have plagued the remake, about the Wesley Snipes-originated Daywalker vampire slayer from Marvel’s comics.

“When Marvel came to me, they seemed to be really interested in my input,” the Da 5 Bloods star said. “And in the various conversations I had with producers, the writer, the director at the time, it was all leading into being very inclusive. It was really exciting conceptually, but it was also exciting in terms of the character that was going to form. And then, for whatever reason, it just went off the rails.”

Having since exited the project, Lindo — who boarded the film in 2021 — said he was supposed to...

Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Film Review: Daydreamers (2023) by Timothy Linh Bui
Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
The vampire trope in movies is almost as old as the art of cinema itself. They are invented as something foreign, exotic, usually quite elite that does not belong to the “ordinary world”. There are, however, numerous variations regarding their lore, so we, for instance, got an action hero who was born as vampire and grew to look like Wesley Snipes in his prime or a glittery day-walking, self-loathing highschool kid seeking for some sort of redemption in a soap opera masked as a saga. The point is that the vampires are tough to pin down (pun intended!) because one can vary the rules and the cosmology so much. Vietnamese filmmaker Timothy Linh Bui tried to do so in “Daydreamers” and, after a promising start, failed.

Check also this video

The start is actually an animated sequence set against a voice-over narration which explains how we got such a chic European phenomenon in Vietnam.

When Samuel L Jackson’s Rehab Confession Helped Him Land His Breakout Role In This American Romantic Drama: “I’ve Done All Research”
Image
How Did Samuel L Jackson Land His Breakout Role? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Samuel L Jackson’s shocking rehab confession really changed everything because just two weeks after getting clean, he landed Jungle Fever. And not just any role. He played Gator, a crack addict whose life spiraled out of control. For Jackson, it wasn’t a stretch. He had lived it.

Jackson’s journey to that breakout moment was rough. Way before the fame and the Cannes award, the actor battled a serious drug problem that started early. By his mid-teens, he had tried acid. That escalated to weed, then heroin, cocaine, and eventually crack. His personal rock bottom came in the most sobering way, literally.

One morning, his wife, Latanya Richardson, and their 8-year-old daughter, Zoe, walked in and found him passed out on the floor, surrounded by drug paraphernalia. That moment forced everything into motion. Richardson told him...

All Kevin Feige Has to Do to Save Blade Reboot Is Trust Ryan Coogler After Critics Found No Flaw in Sinners
Image
Originally slated for a 2025 release date, Mahershala Ali’s Blade reboot hasn’t seen a good day since it was first announced in 2019. By the time 2024 rolled in, the movie had been taken off Marvel Studios’ 2025 roster. Hell, Wesley Snipes reprised his iconic character before Mahershali Ali could get his hands on it! Now, it looks like fans may have lost all hope when it comes to the reboot, but if Kevin Feige really, really wants to make things right and actually pay attention to the vampire slayer, he may need to call in a favor from an old pal – Ryan Coogler.

Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, both of which were incredible in their own way. Now, he is making headlines as his upcoming movie, Sinners, has taken the industry by storm. With a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes so far, Ryan Coogler has proved...

5 Movies Sabotaged By the People Who Made Them
Image
We all make mistakes. For most of us, they’re not much more consequential than buying the wrong kind of milk, but in Hollywood, it might be signing onto a seven- or eight-figure project only to realize it’s garbage. Those who can’t just write it off on their taxes sometimes take extreme measures to make sure it never gets seen or at least make the experience as unpleasant as possible. Sometimes, they design it that way from the get-go.

5 Blade: Trinity

Wesley Snipes had some potentially legitimate beef with the producers of Blade: Trinity. He believed other Black actors were the subject of discrimination on the set, suspected the movie’s only purpose was to set up spin-offs for its white stars, and also, it was Blade: Trinity. His reaction, however, might have been a little overboard. He refused to communicate with director David S. Goyer outside of...

Actors Who Were Almost Cast As Star Trek's Jean-Luc Picard Before Patrick Stewart
Image
In a 2020 interview with the Hollywood Reporter, actor Patrick Stewart recalled the frustrations he encountered while working with Gene Roddenberry, the creator of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Roddenberry notoriously didn't want Stewart to play Captain Jen-Luc Picard, hating the fact that he was bald and not so keen on the fact that he's English. When Roddenberry visited the "Star Trek" set, Stewart recalls being treated with coldness, and he received little actual direction from the man. Stewart sought to discuss Captain Picard with Roddenberry over a lunch, but that wasn't a very helpful meeting; Roddenberry merely advised Stewart to read C.S. Forster's Horatio Hornblower novels. As the series creator said, "It's all in there." Not terribly helpful.

Roddenberry's distaste of Stewart, however, was not shared by the general public. Captain Picard became a fan favorite character quite swiftly, with Trekkies responding to Stewart's commanding performance and to Picard...

Marvel: First official look at Mahershala Ali as Blade unveiled
Image
Blade has become something of an odd topic of discussion for Marvel fans. It was confirmed back in 2019 that the Daywalker was finally set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his own self-titled movie, with Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali playing the role, but the project has yet to materialize. What's worse is that the project is no longer set to be a part of the Multiverse Saga, which wraps up next year with Avengers: Secret Wars, meaning that it probably won't arrive in movie theaters until 2028 at the earliest.

There have been updates, both good and bad, in that time but very little actual movement, as fans thought that Marvel Studios might end up cancelling the film. Heck, a number of reports claimed that this may be an inevitability, especially after it was taken off the release calendar after seemingly aiming for an October 2025 release.

Samuel L. Jackson Clashed With Quentin Tarantino Over Jules’ Wig In Pulp Fiction & Proved His Instincts Right
Image
Samuel L. Jackson Wig Clash(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Samuel L. Jackson never backed down from making bold choices, especially when it came to his look. In Pulp Fiction, his character, Jules Winnfield, became instantly recognizable with his jheri curl wig. But getting that hairstyle on screen wasn’t easy. Jackson had to fight Quentin Tarantino for it.

Jackson always saw his appearance as part of his craft. Early in his career, he made a conscious effort to change up his look for every role. For Pulp Fiction, he had a vision for Jules’ hair – one that Tarantino didn’t share at first.

“It was my deliberate choice to be as different as I possibly could in as many films as I could,” Jackson told Gentleman’s Journal. “So I made my face and my hair and my beard my canvas. It was my idea for the wig in Pulp Fiction.

Rumor Suggests Blade Film is Scrapped
Image
Many Marvel fans have been wondering what happened to the upcoming “Blade” film. Originally announced six years ago and set to release in October 2024, the film has reportedly been paused or cancelled.

A new rumor has surfaced indicating that the film has been nixed.

Here is the thread.

I heard some Blade news I trust. File under rumor for now if you want/take it with a grain of salt. I’m ok with that.

— yronlyhope.bsky.social (@YrOnlyHope) March 28, 2025

Mahershala Ali is still set to play the character in the MCU, but it is unclear when or how the character will debut. According to this rumor he could appear in “Midnight Suns” or “Avengers Secret Wars.”

“Blade” has been plagued with previous rumors and staff changes.

There have been different directors associated with the film like Yaan Demange and Bassam Tariqu, but both left the project.

“Blade” hasn’t fared well with writers either.

Jason Statham Is the Last of the Strong, Silent Types
Image
Action megastar Jason Statham still looks powerful for a man inching toward 60. And the older he gets, the more worn and lived-in his face becomes, like my therapist’s leather couch. So what if he doesn’t take off his shirt as much anymore? He’s built like a wrestler, but graceful, too, an experienced kickboxer with a trademark, face-smashing spinning back-kick. In A Working Man, the U.K.-born Statham stars as an all-American man’s man with a Cockney accent (he was a Royal Marine long ago, you...

'A Working Man' Isn’t the First Jason Statham-Sylvester Stallone Collab
Image
It's almost impossible to talk about action movies without mentioning Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone. They're both bankable stars who have left a large legacy in their genre, so it's no surprise the two have worked together multiple times. Their most recent collaboration is on the 2025 Statham film A Working Man, which Stallone wrote and produced. Stallone is no stranger to screenwriting, having written the Oscar-winning film Rocky. He's no stranger to writing for Statham either, as he wrote the screenplay for Statham's 2013 movie Homefront.

Stallone Made Statham a DEA Agent in 'Homefront'

In Homefront, Jason Statham plays Phil Broker, a retired DEA agent and single dad living in Louisiana. Phil's daughter, Maddy, fights one of her classmates, and when Phil is called to Maddy's school to talk about it, the classmate's father tries to fight Phil. Phil beats the father, and in retaliation, the father's wife calls her brother,...

Has Blade finally been axed at Marvel?
Image
For months and months, we were only getting bad and disheartening news about Marvel’s Blade, which would be entering the MCU more than 25 years after Wesley Snipes first brought the character to the big screen. Now, the bad news may be over…depending on your view of the movie. As it stands, it may be that Blade has been cancelled completely.

Multiple sources are reporting that Marvel has put Blade to rest after a string of screenwriters and directors circled, signed on and left the project. One key source this time around is The Playlist’s Rodrigo Perez, who posted a thread on X where he detailed what might really have been going behind the scenes that eventually led to Blade potentially – but not definitely – being dulled.

For starters, Perez noted that the news that Chad Stahelski signing on as director was false. However, Mashershala Ali is still playing Blade,...

Denis Arndt Dies: ‘Basic Instinct’ Actor And Tony Nominee Was 86
Image
Character actor Denis Arndt, who appeared in Basic Instinct, a slate of David E. Kelley shows and earned a Tony nomination for his role in Broadway’s two-hander Heisenberg, has died at the age of 86, his family announced in an obituary published Wednesday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our dad, Denis Leroy Arndt,” the statement read. “He died peacefully in his bed in his beloved cabin home of almost 50 years in Ashland, Oregon; he wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

Born Feb. 23, 1939 in Issaquah, Wash., Arndt served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. Afterward, the soon-to-be prolific actor moved to Seattle, where a friend convinced him to audition for a local theater, paving the way to more onstage roles later in his career.

“Of course, Dad got the main role. And he was brilliant.

'The Fugitive' Sequel 'U.S. Marshals' Is Streaming for Free in April
Image
A long-forgotten, and underrated, action movie starring Blade’s Wesley Snipes and Hollywood icon Tommy Lee Jones is headed to free streaming. Released back in 1998, the action thriller outing U.S. Marshals is, in fact, a sequel to the 90s Harrison Ford action classic The Fugitive, and finds another wrongly accused man on the run from Jones’ unrelenting Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal, Samuel Gerard. This time, instead of chasing Indiana Jones, Gerard must deal with The Daywalker.

Directed by Stuart Baird and written by John Pogue, U.S. Marshals finds Snipes’ federal fugitive Mark Roberts on the run...and possessing his own particular set of skills. Starring several cast members from The Fugitive alongside Jones, including Joe Pantoliano, Daniel Roebuck, and Tom Wood, as well as Kate Nelligan, Latanya Richardson Jackson, and Robert Downey Jr., U.S. Marshals is headed to free streaming platform Tubi on April 1, and you can...

Marvel’s Most Doomed Movie Rotting in Development Hell Reportedly Eyeing John Wick Director Chad Stahelski
Image
Following several delays and production struggles, Marvel Studios is now reportedly seeking John Wick director Chad Stahelski for the long-troubled Blade reboot, starring Mahershala Ali.

Once one of the most highly anticipated additions to the MCU, the film has been stuck in development hell for nearly six years since its announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Now, the studio is hoping Stahelski can finally bring the project to life, an exciting possibility that could be exactly what the movie needs.

John Wick Franchise Director Reportedly Tapped to Direct Ill-Fated Blade Reboot
Image
The Blade reboot could be led by the director of another franchise with a badass lead character as the ill-fated Marvel Cinematic Universe looks to get back on track. Reports claim John Wick franchise helmer Chad Stahelski is the latest filmmaker to take the reins of the long-gestating blockbuster.

According to Hollywood scooper Jeff Sneider, Marvel has enlisted Stahelski to become the Blade reboot's third director since its 2019 announcement. Michael Green and Eric Pearson penned the latest draft of the film, with Stahelski tapped to direct as he's set to helm the Henry Cavill-led Highlander reboot and potentially John Wick 5 at Lionsgate.

Stahelski was reportedly chosen after Marvel passed on another director to lead Blade 4. Cary Fukunaga, who directed the most recent James Bond entry, No Time to Die, was reportedly in line for the job late last year. However, Sneider claims Fukunaga's reputation may have cost him the job.

'Chi-Raq' at 10: Spike Lee Directed the First Amazon Prime Video Movie, Starring Nick Cannon
Image
Just 10 years ago, Amazon had not produced a single original film. Now, the mega-corporation owns the rights to the James Bond franchise. Considering how far Prime Video has come as both a streaming service and a film and TV production company, it's easy to forget that the platform had to start out with something. As it turns out, that "something" was a modern-day retelling of an ancient Greek tragedy...and a hilarious satire...and a somber commentary on gun violence and crime in Chicago's South Side...that's also kind of a musical.

As bizarre as such a blend of genres might sound, Spike Lee's 2015 film Chi-Raqmanages to pull all of them off with surprising effortlessness. Featuring a loaded ensemble cast, including Nick Cannon as eponymous gang leader Demetrius "Chi-Raq" Dupree and Wesley Snipes as the rival gang's leader, the film fluidly oscillates between uproarious hilarity and deeply sincere pathos.

Marvel Studios Could Give The X-Men What Fox Never Could – An Ending
Image
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were buzzing around the world on March 26, as Marvel Studios slowly (and painfully) unveiled the cast of the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday." The eagerly anticipated sequel will shift Robert Downey Jr. into villain mode, as the "Iron Man" actor is taking on the new MCU role of the villain known as Doctor Doom. Though most famous for tangling with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Comics, he's also frequently been at the center of nefarious plots that have caught the attention of the entire Avengers roster, and that's exactly what's going to happen in "Avengers: Doomsday," which will also set the table for "Avengers: Secret Wars," bringing an end to the Multiverse Saga.

While even Marvel's most loyal fans would probably agree that the Multiverse Saga has had many more missteps than the massively successful Infinity Saga that preceded it, plenty are still more than thrilled...

He was involved in the hip-hop community, which was material that he felt reflected the urban part of the story. Then you had this young,...

Blade's MCU Delays & Production Issues Explained
Image
Marvel Studios has adapted many characters from the comics, no matter how minor or strange. From Doctor Strange to the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, it appears that no character was too difficult for Marvel to pull off into making a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Yet one title has been a struggle — Blade. First announced at Comic-Con 2019, the movie has had more than three different release dates, with giving up its November 7, 2025, release date. As of this writing, there is no word on if or even when Blade will open in theaters, and it is approaching six years since the movie was first announced. For reference, that is the same amount of time from when Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Iron Man to the release of The Avengers.

The movie's delays have been cited as due to a number of issues behind the scenes, including changes to the script and a director change.

Deadpool & Wolverine: Wade Wilson Unsheathes His Claws Thanks To Incredibly Realistic New Hot Toys Figure
Image
Before Deadpool & Wolverine arrived in theaters, we were told repeatedly that the Marvel Studios movie wouldn't undo the events of Logan and would instead respect what was meant to be Hugh Jackman's farewell to the character.

While the threequel did indeed leave that Wolverine Variant dead and gone, "respect" wasn't quite the word many fans would use for how Deadpool & Wolverine kicked off.

The Merc with the Mouth dug up Logan's body and, upon realising that there was no coming back for the fallen X-Man, he proceeded to use his claws and bones to brutally slaughter a squadron of Tva agents...to the tune of "Bye Bye Bye" by Nsync.

It was an awesome way to open the movie and Hot Toys has now unveiled a new 1/6th-scale figure of Wade Wilson based on that sequence.

Not only is it bundled with Logan's skull, bones, and Deadpool's makeshift claws,...

Dwayne Johnson's Action Thriller 'Skyscraper' Is Climbing the Streaming Charts
Image
In the late 2010s, if you needed a leading man for a brains-off action/adventure movie, you called one person: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's agent. For a solid 5 years, The Rock was a fixture of movies that, at one time, would have been the perfect "sick on a Saturday" TNT rock block of entertainment. One of these popcorn flicks is 2018's Skyscraper, which is currently climbing the streaming charts. Skyscraper finds Johnson starring as Will Sawyer, a former FBI agent and amputee who, after injuries sustained while on a hostage rescue mission, becomes a security consultant for high-rise buildings. After terrorists capture the tallest building in the world in Hong Kong and try and extort its developer, Sawyer must rescue his family, who are trapped inside the burning structure.

Written, co-produced, and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who reunited with The Rock on the huge Netflix action hit Red Notice...

Wesley Snipes Starred In One Of The Worst Westerns Of All Time
Image
The road to the 2013 straight-to-home-media Wester/horror film "Gallowwalkers" was weirdly circuitous. Way back in 2005, Ain't It Cool News announced that Chow Yun-fat was working on a horror Western wherein he would play a bounty hunting gunslinger that fought zombies. That film was to be called "The Wretched" and would be overseen by the production companies Sheer Films and Patriot Pictures, with Andrew Goth serving as co-writer and director. AICN's scoop was also confirmed in an issue of Fangoria Magazine.

Chow must have dropped out, though, because the next update on the project came in 2008, also in an issue of Fangoria. "The Wretched" had since become a project titled "Gallowwalker." The film was still being co-written and directed by Goth, but Wesley Snipes (who's one of our best actors) was now slated to star alongside David DeCoteau regular Andrew Smith and wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, with shooting to take place in Namibia.

Actors Who Were Almost Cast As Star Trek's Geordi La Forge Before LeVar Burton
Image
When "Star Trek: The Next Generation" first began in 1987, LeVar Burton was probably the biggest star in the cast. He had already been nominated for three Emmys, once in 1977 for playing Kunta Kinte in the celebrated miniseries "Roots," and two more in 1985 and 1986 for hosting the beloved book-based kid program "Reading Rainbow." The latter show would end up netting him 12 Emmy wins between 1990 and 2007, and cement his reputation as one of his generation's preeminent TV celebrities. The fact that he would be selected to play chief engineer Geordi La Forge on "Star Trek" only more deeply entrenched Burton in the public's awareness.

Geordi La Forge was, more than anything, a nerd. He was deeply interested in machines and engines, and Burton was given the lion's share of NextGen's nonsensical polysyllabic technobabble. He was also notoriously undersexed. Geordi was equipped with a visor that tapped directly into his brain, feeding him...
