A Mission: Impossible Series Easter Egg Is Hiding In Rogue Nation's Opening Credits
Image
In the mid-1990s, when Tom Cruise accepted Paramount Pictures' offer to bring his then-new production company to the studio and pick a project to develop, Cruise expressed a desire to take on a long-gestating big-screen adaptation of the "Mission: Impossible" TV series. Although the "Mission: Impossible" films under Cruise's stewardship have never sought to completely distance themselves from the series, they initially did look toward carving their own path away from it.

This change of direction was boldly stated by the use of the TV show's longstanding protagonist, Jim Phelps, being revealed as the villain of the 1996 film. For the next several installments of the "M:i" franchise, each movie took a unique approach to the exploits of Imf Agent Ethan Hunt (played by Cruise). The only connective tissue between films, besides the appearance of Hunt and fellow team member Luther (Ving Rhames), were a couple of elements retained from the original series,...

Tom Cruise Photographed Standing On The Roof Of The BFI IMAX In London
Image
Tom Cruise is in London to receive the honorary BFI Fellowship. On his trip, however, he appears to have made time for a leisurely stroll up one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

On Sunday afternoon, the Mission: Impossible actor was photographed on the roof of the BFI IMAX building in London. It’s unclear how exactly the actor scaled up the roof, but we’ve confirmed with sources close to Cruise that it was indeed him.

From the footage, which you can view below, you can see the BFI IMAX building is currently wrapped in an advertisement for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Paramount Pictures will launch the eighth installment in the franchise in the U.S. on May 23. Before that, Cruise will debut the film in Cannes next week. The movie will play Out of Competition on May 14 with Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie, and the cast walking the famous red carpet.

Tom Cruise Goes Shirtless Shooting Underwater Scene For ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’
Image
In this behind-the-scenes photo from the Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning set, Tom Cruise went shirtless while filming one of the movie’s memorable underwater scenes. The film is the eighth installment of the American spy franchise and is a direct sequel to the seventh film, Mission: Impossible—The Dead Reckoning.

The latest movie picks up right where the characters left off. The main protagonist, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), continues his mission to stop the antagonist Gabriel (Esai Morales) from obtaining the AI program known as “the Entity.”

The film’s runtime is an impressive 2 hours and 49 minutes, packed with intense action sequences, emotional high stakes, and Cruise’s epic repertoire of stunts.

Alongside Cruise, other returning stars include: Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames as Imf agents Benji Dunn and Luther Stickell. Hayley Atwell will return as Grace. Also returning are Vanessa Kirby (Alanna Mitsopolis), Frederick Schmidt (Zola), Shea Whigham...

Tom Cruise Talks Dueling With Jack Nicholson, Forcing Studios To Embrace International Markets & Why He Spent Years Avoiding Proposals For ‘Top Gun’ Sequels
Image
Seven films down with an eighth and final edition launching in cinemas this month, Mission: Impossible is undoubtedly one of contemporary cinema’s most enduring franchises.

But back in 1996, what made a young Tom Cruise, red hot in Hollywood thanks to hits like A Few Good Men and Interview with the Vampire, board the spy thriller?

“It was the music,” Cruise joked this evening in London, where he took part in a wide-ranging discussion about his career onstage at the British Film Institute. “I loved the theme music.”

The first Mission film was Cruise’s first credit as a producer, and he told the crowd in London that he sought the franchise out because he was interested in investigating how he could change the action genre.

“It was about looking at Mission and thinking ‘what can we do with action’,” he said. “It was about how I can evolve action...

Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
No stunt could prepare Mission: Impossible star Hayley Atwell for an encounter with a polar bear
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
The Mission: Impossible films are known for their death-defying stunts, but for The Final Reckoning star Hayley Atwell, the most hair-raising moment didn’t come from a high-octane action scene — it came from an unexpected encounter with a polar bear.

“The hairiest thing was coming into close proximity with a polar bear who visited the boat we were staying on,” Atwell told Entertainment Weekly. “He was very curious, but thankfully for us, looked well fed. He looked majestic.” If you’ve watched any nature documentaries (or encountered any in the wild), you’ll know that a hungry polar bear can be downright ferocious.

Despite the close encounter with the polar bear, Atwell said he “absolutely adored” working in the Arctic, adding “It’s not lost on me that where we were able to go and how I was able to work there was a lifetime opportunity and only one that...

Revenge of the Remakes: Horror Reboots That Actually Worked
Image
Horror remakes get a bad rap – and let’s be honest, they often deserve it. For every clever reimagining, we’ve sat through a dozen limp reboots that sucked the life (and the scares) right out of the original. But sometimes, a remake comes along that doesn’t just cash in on nostalgia; it sharpens, reinvents, or even surpasses the source material.

With fresh remakes like Wolf Man (2025) and Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein reboot lighting up horror headlines, now’s the perfect time to revisit the remakes that proved this subgenre can deliver more than lazy copy-paste thrills. Here’s our list of horror reboots and remakes that earned their place in the genre’s blood-soaked hall of fame.

Horror Remakes That Actually Worked The Thing (1982)

John Carpenter’s The Thing often gets cited as one of the best horror remakes ever made… and for good reason. While...

‘Mission: Impossible – the Final Reckoning’ Popcorn Bucket Is Here, if You Choose To Accept It
Image
The quest for popcorn is about to get impossible — literally. Regal Cinemas has unveiled its promotional popcorn bucket for Paramount Pictures' upcoming Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, and it's banking on the recent trend of interactive buckets. Unlike past buckets, though, this one takes the interactive aspect to a new level, as the Mission: Impossibletie-in will see the user unlock it a la Tom Cruise in order to access the popcorn.

The bucket, shared on Regal's social media feeds, appears to be the red orb that houses the Entity, the main artificial intelligence in the upcoming film. The bucket hinges up to reveal two halves of a cruciform key that unlocks the Entity's housing, much as Cruise might do in the upcoming film when he journeys aboard the Sevastopolsubmarine. It's unclear if the locking mechanism is simply a gimmick, or if the bucket legitimately locks and unlocks.

Cruise himself,...

Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
How many eggs does Tom Cruise eat before hanging off the side of a plane?
Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Tom Cruise is a machine—and machines need fuel, especially when you’re clinging to the side of a biplane for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. So, what keeps Hollywood’s most relentless action star running? Eggs. Lots and lots of eggs.

“I actually eat a massive breakfast,” Cruise told People about preparing for the high-flying stunt. “The amount of energy it takes — I train so hard for that wing-walking. I’ll eat, like, sausage and almost a dozen eggs and bacon and toast and coffee and fluids. Oh, I’m eating! Picture: It’s cold up there. We’re at high altitude. My body is burning a lot.“

I can’t imagine wanting to do anything after eating a dozen eggs, let alone dangling hundreds of feet in the air, but I’m certainly no Tom Cruise.

The sequence features Cruise hanging from and crawling along the wings...

Uppercut Review: Rhames Holds the Ring Together
Image
“Uppercut” arrives as an American remake of Torsten Reuther’s German film Leberhaken (2021), stepping into the well-worn ring of underdog sports dramas with its own cultural twist. Here, Toni Williams—a determined young German—settles in New York City, intent on proving herself in the boxing world. The film alternates between her first night pleading for training in Elliott’s dimly lit gym and her later life as a confident manager guiding a rising fighter.

Reuther makes his English-language debut behind the camera, writing and directing with a clear affection for intimate character studies. Luise Großmann (billed as Luiii) brings a raw earnestness to Toni’s relentless drive, while Ving Rhames grounds the story with the weathered authority of a former champion turned trainer. Their sparring of words often carries more weight than the few punches that land on screen.

Although much of the work was filmed in Los Angeles,...

Tom Cruise Explains Why Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Had to Be Shot in IMAX
Image
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will hit theaters very soon. For Tom Cruise, IMAX was the only way moviegoers could enjoy the film as creatively intended.

A new video from Paramount Pictures showcases the work and effort that went into Cruise's latest adventure as Imf agent Ethan Hunt, including several clips of the biplane set piece dominating its marketing campaign. Describing the film as "the most extreme practical action ever filmed," the actor's sentiments were echoed by director Christopher McQuarrie. "Tom and I are completely devoted to the biggest experience possible, and there is no bigger format than IMAX," he said.

"This filmmaking style," the duo explained, helped maintain the franchise's core ethos of immersing audiences in "a place they've never been," with Cruise adding, "Seeing it on IMAX invests you in that world. This is cinema. This is the experience that is defining for an audience." Along...

'He's an Underestimated Actor': Tom Cruise Co-Star on What Fans Are Missing From the Action Movie Legend
Image
Tom Cruise has made a name for himself as one of the world's highest-paid actors, renowned for his risky stunts and high-stakes action scenes. According to one of his co-stars, he's still incredibly underestimated.

Speaking with The Sunday Times, Cruise's Valkyrie co-star Kenneth Branagh talked about working with the actor and the potential that he has to expand beyond action roles in the future. "If he ever tires of wowing the world with action, he’s going to surprise those who view him as only a movie star," Branagh said. "What he’s done with Mission and Top Gun is unique — cinematic entertainment with a serious intent to give you a wonderful time at the movies. But he’s an underestimated actor — for whom a golden age of performance beckons."

Branagh is an acclaimed British actor and filmmaker in his own right, known for works like directing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets...

‘Dope Thief’ Ending Explained: Where Do Ray and Mina Go From Here?
Image
No spoiler content found.

Ah, we are still catching our breath after the heart-stopping finale of Dope Thief, which crashed onto Apple TV+ with its eighth episode, Innocent People, on April 25, 2025. This crime saga, spun from Peter Craig’s genius and Dennis Tafoya’s novel, had us hooked like a fish on a line. It’s about two Philly buddies, Ray and Manny, who thought they could pull a fast one by posing as DEA agents to rip off drug dealers. Big mistake: they poked a hornet’s nest under real DEA watch.

Episode 8 wraps the saga in ash, betrayal, and drive-thru burgers. Manny (Wagner Moura) is gone, Ray’s haunted, and McKinty? Let’s just say karma arrived in a flaming van. So what’s next for Ray and Mina? Honestly, that’s the million-dollar question with fries on the side.

Dope Thief finale: Ray’s fight ends, but at what cost?...
