Only a few actors in cinematic history have commended the screen with the gravitas, presence, and versatility of Christopher Lee. From his iconic portrayal of Dracula to unforgettable roles in The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars franchises, Lee brought a rare intensity and sophistication to every character he inhabited.
His deep voice, towering stature, and undeniable charisma made him a standout in almost every role he took. And it’s no surprise that such a legendary career has also earned him the unusual distinction of holding the record for the most on-screen deaths, a fitting testament to a man who made every role, and every ending, unforgettable.

Every year on this say, Star Wars fans the world over show their appreciation for all things Galaxy Far, Far Away, and Lucasfilm has now joined the celebration by releasing an all-new montage of footage from every movie, live-action and animated series in the saga.
The video cleverly mashes-up footage and dialogue from all three movie trilogies, as well as the likes of The Mandalorian, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars Rebels, Visions, Skeleton Crew, and more.
We haven't seen Star Wars on the big screen since The Rise of Skywalker, but that will soon change. In addition to Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, Lucasfilm has Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's untitled Rey-focused movie, James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi (probably not the official title), and Dave Filoni's "Mandoverse" crossover event in the works.

Irrespective of the medium, Batman’s rogues gallery has always been an integral part of his mythos, and has heavily contributed to his status as one of the most iconic fictional heroes in media. And among all the iterations, barring comics, Batman: The Animated Series is highly considered the blueprint for Gotham’s underbelly, including Ra’s al Ghul.
Although it’s hard to imagine anyone other than David Warner in the shoes of Ra’s in the revered series, prior to incorporating Warner in the role, legendary actor Sir Christopher Lee was initially in line to helm Ra’s voice.

The lightsaber duels constitute a significant part of the Star Wars franchise. Throughout the movies and series in the space-opera saga, we have seen many lightsaber duels that will be etched in our minds forever. The Duel of the Fates and The Battle of Mustafar are counted among the best pop culture moments.
Among all the lightsaber duels seen across the franchise, Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith has some of the most notable action sequences. Though the final throne room sequence in The Last Jedi is praised by many for its technical brilliance, it fails to touch the greatness of Episode III.

Following the memorable Duel of the Fates at the end of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, fans did not get good duels in Attack of the Clones.

After a successful weekend back in theaters to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Revenge of the Sith just got a little closer to another major milestone. The final film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy earned $2.4 million at the domestic box office on Monday, which has helped its domestic total reach $408 million. When paired with the $485 million the film has grossed at the international box office, Revenge of the Sith now sits at $893 million globally. Although Episode 3 is expected to play in theaters for only a few more days, it should have no problem reaching another box office milestone between domestic and international earnings. It recently became one of the top 50 highest-grossing movies ever, thanks to its re-release numbers, which included $42 million globally over the weekend.

"Batman: The Animated Series" was produced to capitalize on the success of the Tim Burton "Batman" films. Nothing about Dick Powell's 1956 historical epic "The Conqueror" went right. Firstly, and most obviously, the casting was horrid. John Wayne, America's racist uncle, was cast as Temujin, a.k.a. Genghis Khan, ruler of the Mongol Empire in the 12th century. His wife, Börte, was played by Susan Hayward. Other white actors playing Asian characters included Agnes Moorehead, William Conrad, and Lee Van Cleef.
Additionally, the production was immensely troubled. "The Conqueror" was filmed partly in the desert outside of St. George, Utah, and production was slowed by an unexpected flash flood. According to the book "The Fifty Worst Films of All Time" by Michael Medved, Harry Medved, and Randy Dreyfuss, Wayne was frequently drunk on set, inspiring his co-stars to match his drunken energy with silly, untethered performances of their own. The film's writer, Oscar Millard, however, said...

It's been six years since Avengers: Endgame opened in theaters and broke records, but this is no sleepy weekend at the box office without the MCU to lend a hand.
Sinners has vastly exceeded expectations, with a second weekend dip of roughly -10%. The movie is eyeing a $42 million - $44 million haul, following a $48 million debut over Easter. This is a tremendous result for an original IP, and it's no doubt been buoyed by positive reviews (it sits at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes).
By the end of this weekend, its 10-day cume will have likely reached $120 million in North America.
The fight for #2 has come down to The Accountant 2 versus Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The former is hoping to net somewhere between $23 million - $25 million, but the re-release of George Lucas' 2005 movie is nipping at its heels with projections pointing to $21 million - $23 million.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Disney's 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith could score a box office upset in North America this weekend.
The movie earned $3.4 million from Thursday previews, and with $20 million in presales, it may open between $27 million - $30 million. Should it meet those expectations, then it stands a chance of debuting at #1, topping Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's The Accountant 2. That made $2.5 million yesterday and should land in the low-to-mid $20 million range.
It's a little too soon for full weekend estimates, but Sinners is holding up well and has the potential to earn north of $30 million. If so, then it will likely take the top spot. However, even #2 would be a huge win for Disney, seeing as this is just a re-release.

The popularity of Star Wars never ceases to amaze. This month, one of the most beloved entries in the Jedi universe is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a re-release in theaters. Since it is a limited event, it was expected that Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith wouldn't be a huge standout at the box office. But fans seem to be using the Force to bring it back to the top: just in its Thursday previews, the George Lucas movie has earned a reported $3.4 million in ticket sales, outperforming new titles like The Accountant 2 and Until Dawn.

Sometimes when I make a video on one of my favorite movies, I find something a little extra upon further viewing. Obviously, there is some research that goes into it as I like to look up what else the writer, director, or actors did or even what possible sequels there are. Class of 1984 is one of my favorite horror adjacent titles out there from the script by Tom Holland and great performances from Roddy McDowell, Perry King, and all of the main gang members. It shows the very real fears of what teachers in bad areas could potentially deal with, only with the knob turned all the way to 11 and it’s immensely rewatchable. While I had heard that there were sequels to the movie, I wrote them off as cash-ins, especially since they were quite a bit after, and the movie was fine as a standalone. Then I...

Some say there's a thin line separating good from evil. Human morality and depravity can exist within a single person, as oftentimes monstrous people will justify their wickedness by calling it good. Sorry to get super deep and heavy on you here, but that is just how it goes. All of it to say, while good and evil are concrete and defined philosophical precepts, how they play out is oftentimes, well, super messy.
Perhaps that is why some of the best big screen villains have been played by "good guy" actors. As a moviegoer, there's only one thing more painful than watching a villain do horrible things; and that's when that villain is played by a hero. It takes brashness on the part of the director to upset audience sensibilities, and courage on the actor's part to play with their screen image.

Performers have the uncanny ability to embody a character with nothing more than their acting talents. But sometimes, a role requires the skills of a makeup artist. Throughout film history, there have been many instances when an actor became unrecognizable for a project. In recent years, that has become easier, thanks to motion capture technology and visual effects. For example, Josh Brolin was wearing tennis balls and a bodysuit -- not purple paint -- while playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which made the character much less terrifying behind the scenes.
However, it's always more impressive when the work is a combination of an actor's abilities and the makeup team's prowess. Whether they turned into a creature of the night or a real-life serial killer, the actors on this list are just some of the stars who became unrecognizable for one of their roles.

One Star Wars director has talked to a Lucasfilm executive about Samuel L. Jackson returning as Mace Windu, adding steam to fans' hopes that the legendary actor could return to the galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars films have notoriously included some of the biggest actors of all time, such as Harrison Ford, Christopher Lee, and Samuel L. Jackson. Some of those actors, such as Ford, have expressed no interest in ever returning to the franchise, but others, like Jackson, have been quite vocal about coming back.
Since Mace Windu's duel with Chancellor Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith, many fans are convinced that the Jedi Master survived the fall and his injuries, and believe that a return could happen at any time. While that seems unlikely, Jackson is not the only voice of power who wants to make it happen.

The vampire subgenre has been at the forefront of horror for over 100 years, and the myths of undead creatures living off of human blood go back countless years further. The best vampire movies ever made are, mostly, incredibly varied. There’s a whole lot of great “Dracula” movies out there, sure, but also art-house nightmares, mainstream action movies, silly comedies, Neo-westerns, heartwarming romances and more. And if you ask us, these are the very, very best.
(Film Arts Guild) “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror” (1922)
F.W. Murnau’s eerie silent classic is 100 years old, and it still has the power to shock and horrify. Telling an extremely plagiarized version of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” – Stoker’s estate successfully sued, and nearly had every single copy of “Nosferatu” destroyed – the film stars Max Schreck as the verminous Count Orlok, who moves from his haunted castle to Germany, and brings a supernatural plague along with him.

The inspiration for Marvel Comics super-villain 'The Mandarin', ‘Dr. Fu Manchu' was introduced in a series of 14 detective novels by Brit author Sax Rohmer, also appearing in television, radio, comic strips, comic books and in movies, as portrayed by Warner Oland, Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee:
“…the supervillain's evil plots of world-domination...
"...are marked by his extensive use...
"...of thugs, street gangs and radical members…
“…of elite secret societies to do his dirty work...

Christopher Lee played the character in "The Face of Fu Manchu" (1965), "The Brides of Fu Manchu" (1966), "The Vengeance of Fu Manchu" (1967), "The Blood of Fu Manchu" (1968) and "The Castle of Fu Manchu" (1969).

Doctor Who has paid tribute to classic series cast member Jean Marsh following her death at age 90. Marsh played The First Doctor's companion Sara Kingdom in the 1960s.
BBC News reported that Marsh's friend, the director Sir Michael Lindsay-Hogg, confirmed that Marsh died "peacefully in bed looked after by one of her very loving carers" on Sunday (April 13). Doctor Who later published its own tribute to Marsh on X, saying it was "sad to report" news of the former companion's death.

What’s…up, Doc? Christopher Walken has starred opposite everybody from Robert De Niro to Sean Connery to Christopher Lee, but there’s one actor he admires above all: Bugs Bunny. And for those who might not consider Bugs Bunny an actor, he has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Walken doesn’t, so how do you explain that?
Walken recently appeared on Ben Stiller’s The Severance Podcast to chat the show and his inspirations. But it was actually off-mic that he told Stiller about his love of the Looney Tunes mascot. “[Walken] said that Bugs Bunny is one of his favorite actors ever. And he was saying this kind of with a twinkle in his eye, but not really. And he said, ‘A lot of times I’ve played roles as if I was Bugs Bunny, but nobody knew.’ Now, which character, which movie, we don’t know.

Horror streaming service Screambox is diving headfirst into April with a line-up that refuses to play it safe. From long-lost slasher oddities and surrealist nightmares to new exclusives and unclassifiable cult gems, the horror streaming platform continues to double down on bold, brutal, and bizarre content. With Project Mkhexe, The Coffee Table and the notorious R-rated cut of Tammy and the T-Rex all making their mark, this month’s selections are tailored to viewers with a taste for the unexpected.
Perhaps the most talked-about addition is The Coffee Table, the Spanish black comedy that’s already earned a fearsome reputation from early festival runs. Directed by Caye Casas, the film delivers a harrowing domestic spiral that defies genre convention. It begins with a petty marital squabble over furniture and ends in an act so bleak that Stephen King himself called it, “horrible and also horribly funny.” Hitting Screambox on 11 April,...

Classic horror icons Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and John Carradine star together for the first and only time in House of the Long Shadows. The murderously funny mystery with a twist streams April 11 on Screambox.

If you google "Sean Bean," and you see the performer's face among the results, the first thing you'll think about will probably be how his character died on-screen when you saw him perform. In popular culture, his face has become synonymous with the unfortunate outcome of many of his characters. Decades after his debut, Bean has already come to terms with the curious fate his characters always meet. Even after he has become an indelible part of the internet, Bean is no longer bothered by dying so many times on the big and small screen: "I'd rather play them [great characters] and die than play a mundane character that lives."

Whatever you think about James Bond's gadgets, it's hard to imagine the spy without them. Ever since he debuted in the pages of Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale" back in 1953 — a book that received some truly weird changes upon its U.S. debut — England's greatest spy has been making use of gizmos provided by Q-branch. It wasn't until the films began with 1962's "Dr. No," however, that James Bond's gadgets began to take on their legendary cultural status. While "Dr. No" didn't feature much in the way of spy gadgets beyond Bond's standard Walther Ppk, the follow-up "From Russia with Love" introduced Desmond Llewelyn's Q and his department of genius tinkerers who supply 007 with all manner of covert instrument.

Star Wars would not have been able to reach the status within pop culture that it has if not for its characters. The writers have a knack for creating heroes who are remarkably easy to root for, as they feel like ordinary people and inspire the viewers to go out and be the best versions of themselves. The side characters stand out in their own right and get some of the most memorable scenes in the movies.
It's with the villains, however, that Star Wars really shines. There is a wide variety of them, and each one appeals to a different thing audiences fear. Here are the ten most frightening bad guys in the history of the Star Wars franchise.

Many A-list actors have begun their careers with modest salaries before they hiked it up to millions of dollars. Then, there are actors like Ryan Gosling and George Clooney, who willingly agree to work for breadcrumbs because they see the potential in those films. There are even actors who worked for free just because they were so passionate about the film.

The newest Mummy film has recruited one of the stars from the Transformers franchise as its new lead, but it doesn't sound like he will be the titular Monster. In December 2024, shortly before the release of Nosferatu and Wolf Man, it was announced that Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin was set to make TheMummy reboot for the newly combined Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. However, Cronin's take on the character would not be an official Universal Monster: instead, a version was created for New Line Cinema, the same studio behind Evil Dead Rise.

Sometimes they’re majestic and wise, sometimes they’re total divas, and sometimes they’re just there to be hunted by some evil king with serious control issues. From animated classics to bizarre indie flicks, unicorns have proven that they can be more than just Lisa Frank stickers brought to life. On the occasion of the release of Death of a Unicorn, we’re diving into the most famous unicorns ever to grace the big screen—whether they’re noble and heroic, tragically misunderstood, or just straight-up weird. Fantasia only seems about as great as the particular segment you happen to be watching in the moment, but it’s is also one of the few Disney movies whose outsized aims marinate tastefully in memory instead of festering.

As my tastes change and I get a chance to watch more and more movies, largely due to wonderful companies like Severin, Vinegar Syndrome, and Synapse putting out forgotten or lost movies, this also changes what I’m willing to call a Black Sheep. The Howling series is kind of a Black Sheep series in horror. It has 8 films over a 30-year span from 1981 to 2011 and while the first one is typically held in high esteem because of its pedigree, and, well, because its good, there’s a lot to watch and unpack here. You can look at which movie is the black sheep of the series but let’s get even more granular with it. Let’s look at which of the two Howling movies directed by Phillipe Mora deserves the moniker. While the third one has that specific Ozploitation flair to it that admittedly I am an easy mark for,...

Blockbusters rarely get as good as Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not only did it accomplish the seemingly impossible in faithfully bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s saga to life, but it also legitimized the fantasy genre almost single-handedly and won critical acclaim, high box office returns, and countless industry awards. Yet even by those lofty standards, The Return of the King was an astonishing conclusion, giving viewers everything they could want in a massive tentpole: strong characters, epic spectacle, and emotion in spades. There’s a reason it still holds the record for the biggest sweep in Oscar history, winning every one of its 11 nominations.
Jackson’s films somehow got even richer upon release of the extended editions. Despite building upon the already-demanding runtimes (each extended edition clocks in at roughly three and a half to four and a half hours), they fly by in an instant and...

First biting into cinemas in the 1920s, Nosferatu is an iconic character and movie, with the original F.W. Murnau film being emblematic of German Expressionism in art and cinema. It has since had three independent remakes and inspired countless other works. All things considered, 1922's Nosferatu influenced the vampire genre in innumerable ways. Critic Roger Ebert even called it "the story of Dracula before it was buried alive in clichés, jokes, TV skits, cartoons" and countless other movies.

We all secretly believe that we would never join a cult. We may be fascinated by the inner mechanics of these insidious groups and go down endless rabbit holes exploring their destructive behavior. But deep down, we’re all convinced that we would be able to sniff out communal manipulation and see a cult leader coming a mile away. Of course, every person who’s ever found themselves in such a group has likely had the same internal belief. We like to see ourselves as mentally superior and aware when we’re being conned by the people around us. But successful cult leaders are experts at finding covert ways to infiltrate our minds and convince us to override our better judgment.

The clicking of film running through a projector and a slight wow on the pastoral soundtrack ushers in footage of “the blue hills” of The Cotswolds in 1945. It’s a beautiful area of England, replete with picturesque villages and historical monuments. However, the twee public information film stylings aren’t allowed to roll on for long and they’re interrupted – and ultimately halted – by cuts to something far more disturbing. The film becomes grainy and unfocused, the music disquieting and we’re told of of a bizarre, gruesome murder which happened on Meon Hill to one Charles Walton. Charles was reputed to be a friendly, harmless old man, yet he was battered to death with a stick, pinned to the ground with his own pitchfork and the sign of the cross was cut into his chest with his own billhook.

The late Christopher Lee was a compelling character actor and a genre icon whose career saw him land parts in numerous pop culture favorites throughout his more than two hundred film roles. He's Saruman in "The Lord of the Rings" films, he's Count Dooku in the "Star Wars" universe, and he stars in sequels to films like "Gremlins," "Police Academy," "The Howling," and more. From Tim Burton's dark fantasies to the realm of Sherlock Holmes, Lee has seen it all, but for many fans it's his horror output that they love most. Sitting atop his dozens of horror efforts, it's his unforgettable portrayal of Count Dracula that reigns supreme.
Below are all nine feature films in which Lee plays Count Dracula as a lead/title role. For completists, he did don the fangs for a 10th film, a 1970 comedy called "One More Time," but it's for no more than a thirty-second cameo.
