Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep opens in Arkham Asylum, where oneirologist Ambrose London arrives to test his dream‑recording device on a patient whose nocturnal episodes conceal a brutal alternate persona. Edward Furlong’s measured performance anchors the film, conveying scientific curiosity even as reality fractures around him.
While anchored in H.P. Lovecraft’s 1919 tale, the narrative expands its brief source material into a more elaborate exploration, weaving psychological torment and graphic corporeal horror. Familiar Lovecraftian signposts—Arkham Asylum, whispers of Miskatonic University—anchor the story to its mythic roots even as Chad Ferrin ventures into taboo extremes.
Ferrin, known for his unapologetic indie horror style, layers cosmic dread over grindhouse aesthetics. The film alternates between deliberate suspense and abrupt shocks, its practical creature effects and retro‑tinged visuals reinforcing an unsettling atmosphere. A synth‑laden score underscores each descent into the unknown, while abrupt cuts between the lab and dreamscape heighten tension.

Fans of One Piececan feel proud of this franchise setting another record at the Osaka Comic Con recently, with a record number of fans wearing straw hats on the third and final day of the event on May 4th. As three stars of the live-action One Piece show on Netflix took to the stage, a total of 897 fans donned their Luffy-inspired hats as a salute to their favorite franchise.
Merchandise and cosplay are nothing new in the anime world, but only a truly massive franchise like One Piece could set a verified record with not just its manga sales, but also its merchandise. To help emphasize this achievement, One Piece stars Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Emily Rudd held up a Guinness World Records certificate for all to see, proving once again that the aging One Piece franchise isn't slowing down by any means.

The following is the tale, no, the journey of, design of, and most importantly the experience of perhaps (at least in this guy’s opinion) James Cameron’s magnum opus of movie experiences. Not merely an easter egg filled ride based on a movie IP, but a short film considered by some as the most authentic follow up And true sequel to Terminator 2 – in the entire franchise. This is the story of T2-3D: Battle Across Time.
The story truly begins on July 3rd of 1991. The release date of what many consider the greatest action movie of all time: Terminator 2. The movie was obviously a juggernaut smash hit critically and commercially, making over $500 million at the box office and becoming the third highest grossing film of all time (at the time). Not including the toys, games, and other merchandise. The world was enamored with Skynet, Arnold, the T-1000, and everything in between.

Few sequel films are equal to or greater than the original movie, but in the case of the Terminator franchise, it’s quite possible that Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the best of them all. Terminator 2 was a huge hit at the box office, grossing $520 million worldwide against a budget of $102 million, and boasts a 91% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Soon fans will be able to watch this epic sci-fi action film on Paramount+. It drops on the streamer on April 1. The film was directed by Cameron with a script from William Wisher and Cameron.

The Black Sunday Film Festival is back with blood on its boots and a mission to celebrate the boldest voices in genre cinema. Now in its sixth edition, the Essex-based event has announced a striking line-up for 2025, running from 1st to 3rd May at Colchester’s Firstsite. Championing independent horror, dark sci-fi, psychological thrillers and everything in between, the festival has carved out a reputation for unearthing daring new work from both the UK and beyond. This year’s programme is no exception.
Opening night sets the tone with three wildly different but equally provocative features. Kaye Adelaide’s The Rebrand makes its UK debut, turning influencer culture inside out in a mockumentary that promises satire with bite. That’s followed by Mary Beth McAndrews’ Bystanders, an unflinching revenge thriller that left festival audiences reeling during its previous run on the circuit. Whatever your expectations for a (supposedly) $320 million Russo brothers Netflix movie starring Chris Pratt as a Chris Pratt type, Millie Bobby Brown as a wannabe Edward Furlong, and Woody Harrelson as the voice of an animatronic Mr. Peanut, I would recommend that you lower them.
A derivative, self-impressed, and seriously confused adventure set in the aftermath of a global war between humans and the talking robots that were “invented” by Walt Disney to amuse tourists at his theme parks, “The Electric State” is essentially a feature-length adaptation of the argument its directors have been making in the press since “Avengers: Endgame,” the scale and success of which seemed to convince them it was the ultimate film in every sense of the word, and thus inspired them to proselytize about how cinema as we know it is about to be replaced by AI holograms of Tom Cruise or whatever.

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons… and keep in mind that we’re only talking about movies here, not TV shows, so you won’t hear about Michiel Huisman replacing Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones, Charles Melton replacing Ross Butler on Riverdale, Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill on The Witcher, Janet Hubert being switched with Daphne Maxwell Reid as Aunt Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Nathan Parsons replacing Luke Grimes as James Kent on True Blood, Alessandra Torresani being replaced by Mae Whitman on Arrested Development, or Jeff the cab driver being recast in the final season of Better Call Saul. Breaking Glass Pictures is set to release the final installment of Chad Ferrin’s ambitious Lovecraftian trilogy, Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, on 4 March 2025. When it comes to modern horror, few creators compare to Stephen King. As one of the most frequently-adapted authors in history, his popular stories have been transformed into some of the most successful genre films out there. However, they can't all be masterpieces, and many of them don't live up to their strong starts. This list contains ten of the best Stephen King films that just couldn't stick the landing.
Each of these famous adaptations, sequels, prequels, and remakes has something to offer, but their conclusions hold them back from greatness. Sometimes it's the filmmaker's mistake, some endings have just aged poorly, and sometimes fans must accept that even Stephen King is fallible. This list of flawed but fascinating films helps illuminate what makes a great story, and how easy it is to fall short of perfection — even for the master.

Breaking Glass Pictures has announced they’re handing the worldwide release of Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep, the last chapter in a trilogy of horror films from director Chad Ferrin. Ferrin’s projects, including this one, have been direct adaptions of H.P. Lovecraft stories.
Ambrose London is a renowned oneirologist who handles the toughest cases. They don’t come tougher than this latest one…he’s been summoned to an asylum to check out a seemingly possessed patient. Of course in movies in this “seemingly” means “definitely,” but not in the manner one would think.

This is a Terminator household. First and foremost. I will argue that T2 is one of the best sequels of all time, even though I don’t feel like I have to do that because everybody knows. There is a debate in this household that Terminator is better than T2, but we don’t have time for that. We are here for The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I’m going to be honest. When I first heard about the show it was one of those things where there was so much talk about it that I was annoyed. So I put off watching it forever. “You gotta watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles, you gotta watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles…”
So I watched it.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day, filmmaker James Cameron's 1991 follow-up to his 1984 blockbuster The Terminator, remains a classic of both the sci-fi and action genres, with plenty of critics and fans regarding it as superior to its predecessor. Its innovative special effects, intense action sequences, and still-relevant themes about the dangers of our increasing reliance on artifical intelligence all give the film a timeless quality, despite being released over three decades ago.
But, as it turns out, AI wasn't the only social issue that Terminator 2 tried to warn us about. Cameron has made it clear in multiple interviews that it was no accident that the film's frightening antagonist, the T-1000 (Robert Patrick), wears an LAPD officer's uniform for most of the film's runtime. Indeed, Cameron intended for this costume choice to be a subtle commentary on the way cops are often trained to become "machines" designed for violence and brutality.

Jennifer Lien's star was on the rise before she was cut from Star Trek: Voyager at the beginning of the series' fourth season. Not only had she been a soap opera actress, appearing as Hannah Moore in Another World, but she voiced Elle on the Men in Black series. While she had some good scenes in Voyager, nothing could really be classified as a stand out unless you count her time in "Warlord." It wasn't until she was cast as Davina in American History X that her true talent came out.
Gone was the meek and quiet Kes from Voyager. In her place was the wife of a paroled neo-Nazi, Derek, a woman who, despite the abuse she suffered, stood up to him and tried to give back as good as she got. In fact, there wasn't even the slighest hint of Kes in Lien's portrayal as Davina.

To say that fans were disappointed with the 2024 reimagining of The Crow would be an understatement. Directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Bill Skarsgård, the film was a critical and commercial flop, earning just $24 million at the box office against a budget of $50 million. Hoping to recoup some of their losses, Lionsgate made it available on VOD less than a month after its theatrical debut, but by then the word was already out about how cringe it was. While people may have been let down by this new version, you can wash the taste out of your mouth by streaming the original classic when it lands on its new streaming home on Jan. 1.

Nothing says Christmas like a good Arnie movie, at least that is what Netflix users have suggested after making one of the Big Man’s most underrated movies a hit several years after its disappointing showing at the box office. Surprisingly, that movie is not one of Schwarzenegger’s festive offerings, but Terminator: Dark Fate.
While many streaming charts are dominated by the movies of Christmas past, including a more joyous offering from the Austrian Oak in Jingle All The Way, it seems that Netflix subscribers are a different breed. Although the most recent version of The Grinch is holding tight at No.2 on the global chart, the top spot is held by Taron Egerton's action thriller Carry-On, while No.3 is proof that there are a lot of people who just want to see a half-man, half-machine blowing things up to get them in the mood for the holidays.

Terminator 2 star Edward Furlong's 1994 horror movie Brainscan will soon hit a major streaming service. The underrated film debuted to mostly negative reviews and performed modestly at the box office upon its release.
Furlong's Brainscan will stream for free on Tubi starting January 1. Directed by John Flynn and written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the science fiction slasher film follows the actor's character, Michael Brower, a horror and video game fan who lives an isolated existence after he permanently injures his leg in a car crash that killed his mother. Michael's only friend and fellow school Horror Club member Kyle (Jamie Marsh) tells him about a brand-new, ultra-realistic game called Brainscan. He mail-orders the game, which begins to upend his life. T. Ryder Smith plays The Trickster, Brainscan's host and the film's primary antagonist. Did Edward Norton work to play a role in American History X? ( Photo Credit – Netflix )
Edward Norton gained 30 lbs of muscle, shaved his head, and ate seven times a day, focusing on chicken, turkey, and fish. No shortcuts.
Released in 1998, American History X became a powerful movie about race, redemption, and loyalty. Despite only making $23M on a $20M budget, Norton snagged an Oscar nomination for Best Leading Actor. His dedication brought Derek to life with raw, unflinching realism, making the character’s struggles hit harder and feel realer than ever.
Norton’s commitment went beyond physical changes. He took on the role after turning down Saving Private Ryan, showing how deeply invested he was in bringing authenticity to American History X. He shaved his head alongside co-star Edward Furlong and increased his caloric intake to build an intimidating physique. It was about embodying Derek’s raw power and unyielding energy.

Some characters become so iconic that their actors become entirely inseparable from the part they played, as their personas and reputations become intrinsically linked. This can often be the case for an actor’s breakout role, which was so definitive that it’s difficult for audiences to picture them as anybody else, making it hard for them to pursue careers away from their most famous roles. In other instances, actors play the same character for so long, whether in movie series or TV shows, they will forever be remembered for one specific role.
Some of the best movie characters out there have become inseparable from the actors who play them, and many TV stars have to accept that their legacy will always be tied to their characters. Terminator 2: Judgment Day Review - James Cameron's Epic Sci-Fi Blockbuster Is A Near-Perfect Sequel

Considering the struggles the franchise has faced since 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day might just be the most impressive sequel in movie history. Where subsequent Terminator movies messed up timelines, killed off iconic characters, and spectacularly frittered away the series' once-mighty reputation, James Cameron's original follow-up is a masterpiece in successful storytelling and lore expansion. Forget failed reboots and gaping plotholes this is everything that a Terminator could and should be.
Directed by James Cameron, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a direct sequel to the original Terminator and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Patrick, and Linda Hamilton. In this installment, John Connor is being hunted by an advanced Skynet prototype from the future. Thankfully, he receives help from a reprogrammed T-800 sent back in time by the resistance to protect him.

Jon Davison, the lead singer of the legendary progressive-rock band Yes since 2012, is firing back at a copyright-infringement lawsuit filed last week over the group’s 2021 single “Dare to Know.” In a lengthy statement posted on the band’s website today, Davison says the new legal claim from fellow prog-rock musician Riz Story — someone he says he previously considered a friend — is an “utterly fictitious” and “defamatory” attempt at a “shakedown.”

Liarmouth was set to star Aubrey Plaza, and be the first John Waters film for 20 years. It’s now not set to be.
John Waters hasn’t made a film in 20 years, so it was exciting to hear back in 2022 that he was set to bring his demented brand of comedy back to the silver screen, along with Aubrey Plaza, a gifted comic actor with whom the filmmaker would surely have created something special.
Sadly, that’s not to be as Waters has revealed (courtesy of World Of Reel) that the project is no longer happening. Funding seems to be the source of the issue, with Waters telling Indie Wire that:
“I wrote the script, they liked it, Aubrey [Plaza] likes the script, wants to be in it, I want her to be in it, and every person said, “No, we don’t have a penny of the budget.” That is where it is today.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day's T-1000 is brought to life without CGI in a new video that pulls the effect off with real liquid metal. Released in 1991, the second installment in the Terminator franchise hails once again from filmmaker James Cameron. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as a T-800 in the film, this time assigned to protect John Connor (Edward Furlong) from Robert Patrick's more powerful T-1000 unit, which has the ability to turn into liquid metal. The film was widely celebrated for, among other things, its groundbreaking VFX used to bring the T-1000 to life.
In a new video, VFX artist Wren Weichman of Corridor Crew attempts to film his own version of the T-1000, instead using primarily practical methods. The video features Wren experimenting with the chemical element gallium, which can be easily heated into a liquid form. After scanning his own head and making a 3D model, he...

In James Cameron's 1991 ultra-blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," two sentient robots are sent back in time to the present, each given a specific assignment. The evil T-1000 (Robert Patrick) has been sent to murder the 12-year-old John Connor (Edward Furlong), as John will eventually grow up to lead a successful resistance against the Machines in a soon-to-come humans vs. robots war. The outmoded T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), once a fighter for the Machines, was captured by the futuristic human resistance, reprogrammed, and sent back in time to protect John Connor from the T-1000.
The script for "Terminator 2" delves deep into causality and the origins of the Machine takeover, set to occur in 1997, by the film's timeline. It seems, however, that there is a causality loop in play.

James Cameron surprised many fans with a return to the Terminator franchise as the story creator and producer of Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019. However, the movies director, Tim Miller, believes that part of the failure of the movie which scored the lowest box office of any sequel in the franchise - was down to the creative influence of original creator Cameron and one specific controversial moment early in the film.
Terminator: Dark Fate could have been a triumphant return for Cameron, with the inclusion of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong creating a Terminator 2: Judgment Day reunion that had fans hyped. However, the story called for Furlongs de-aged appearance as John Connor to be short-lived, as he was killed off in the opening scene of the movie by a T-800 that finally managed to carry out its mission. The abrupt execution of Connor did not go down well with fans,...

Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller shares his thoughts on the movie's failure and touches specifically on viewers' feelings about John Connor's shocking death. Released in 2019, the sixth installment in the long-running Terminator franchise wasn't universally loved. The film, which features the return of original stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, was also box office disappointment, grossing $261 million worldwide and stalling the franchise. Terminator: Dark Fate's opening scene, which features a T-800 gunning down a young John, was a point of particular contention.
Five years after Terminator: Dark Fate's poor debut, Miller, in an interview with Variety, reflects on the divisive film. Miller defends both himself and the film, arguing that many of the movie's controversial elements weren't actually his idea. Regarding John's death scene, Miller confirms that this was franchise producer and original movie director James Cameron's idea, but also that he doesn't think it was the wrong decision.

More often than not, psychological torment and werewolf horror go hand in hand. Becoming one of these howling, hirsute monsters of the night is no easy experience, physically or emotionally speaking. And in The Forest Hills, Scott Goldberg taps into that anguish and then some with both enthusiasm and awkwardness. The movie’s protagonist endures the most monstrous manifestation of his internal nightmare. Chaotic storytelling and imagery are instrumental in achieving such an upsetting outcome, but they also make for a challenging watch.
Chiko Mendez plays Rico, a man whose current station in life has only exacerbated his mental distress. Rico has since returned home to care for his estranged and ill mother, who is played by the late Shelley Duvall. Their relationship is turbulent, to say the least. Some of Hollywood's biggest action franchises have gone completely off the rails, getting crazier and harder to justify with each new movie. This has a major overlap with movie franchises that got too big for their own good, as studios contrive ways to keep the franchise going, or too many ongoing storylines too strange to exist are already included. It would have been best for the franchise and its legacy if it had ended after two or three movies.
Movie franchises have been ruined by an actor's exit, or one particularly bad installment. On the other hand, a select few movie franchises came roaring back after a hiatus with their best movie yet, making the rest of Hollywood believe it can achieve the same thing with series that have been in decline. The 1990s were a prosperous decade for movies, with blockbusters, award-winning motion pictures, and cult classics all being released. One main reason these movies have been successful and beloved for many years is the incorporated talent on display. The 1990s allowed several young stars to get their chance in the spotlight and fellow acting veterans to continue proving they had the capability of leading a film.
However, once this nostalgic decade concluded, some of these big-name stars appeared in fewer movies. This resulted in a point where they decided to take a break from the Hollywood scene and focus on other priorities. Whether it is a case of wanting to move away from the abundant fame or a career-killing project, these movie actors, from Joe Pesci to Macaulay Culkin, never achieved the same success they did in the 1990s.

Although Terminator Zero season 2 hasn't yet been greenlit, the animated show has the chance to make up for the iconic sci-fi franchise's mishandling of John Connor's arc. Terminator Zero season 1's ending certainly left the story open to be continued, which means it could add even more to the often-rewritten canon of the other Terminator movies and TV shows. If the Terminator Zero cast does reunite in the near future, showrunner Matt Tomlin has plans for where the story will head next after season 1's thrilling finale.
Terminator Zero doesn't focus on familiar characters but rather focuses on an entirely different part of the world during established franchise events. The Terminator series has often referenced the fact that the tech-led apocalypse is a worldwide affair and not just limited to the borders of the US. Therefore, it makes sense that Terminator Zero would be set in Japan instead. This way,...

James Cameron is keeping busy with his Avatar franchise these days, but he's not finished with The Terminator just yet. The acclaimed director has confirmed that he has "more than a plan" to make more Terminator content, but it won't be like the films that fans have seen before.
During a new interview with Empire, Cameron shared an update on what he has planned for the future of the Terminator franchise. He outright stated that all of the original characters and their storylines would be dropped in favor of following all-new characters with completely different arcs. That might mean saying goodbye to Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg and the Connor family, but Cameron believes that modern audiences just don't care any longer about characters who were first established four decades ago.

While some series like Back to the Future should be left alone and not have their legacy tarnished or tampered with, there are other series that could actually benefit from making a triumphant return to todays modern movie landscape. Whether its the themes or ideas from the franchise that have become more relevant, or the main character has been away long enough to be missed, these are all franchises I still would love to see more of.
While series often seem to go on forever, and there are some great franchises with more than ten movies, in other cases, promising franchises are cast aside and left for dead when they still have plenty of exciting potential. Although some of these series had planned follow-up films, many of them have...
