Since its release in 1997, Paul W.S. Anderson's Event Horizon has gained a cult following, becoming a classic in the horror sci-fi genre. Audiences hoping to plow through the riches of Francis Ford Coppola’s Emersonian mind from the comfort of their own homes are out of luck.
According to sources close to the Oscar-winning legend, Coppola’s ill-fated box office calamity Megalopolis will never become available to stream, rent, or purchase on physical media. “He wants it to play in theaters, the way it was intended,” one unnamed source told The Hollywood Reporter.
In some ways ,it could be argued that Megalopolis is the last movie of its kind. Coppola used $120 million of his own fortune to produce the passion project independently and premiered the work at the Cannes Film Festival last year to mixed responses. Roughly one month after the Cannes premiere, Lionsgate purchased the distribution rights with a promise to release Megalopolis in theaters and on premium large format (Plf) screens later in the fall while Coppola retained the project’s ownership.

More often than not, the movie laid out in the first draft of a script is radically different from the one audiences see in movie theaters. It's always fun to get a glimpse into the "what-could-have-beens" of cinema, and that's especially true for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe hit.
Thunderbolts* is making headlines for all the right reasons; it shines the spotlight on a lovable roster of titular characters, the action sequences are fast-paced and well-choreographed, it has Oscar-worthy performances, and its narrative does a flawless job of dealing with themes of depression, mental health, and redemption. It's hard to imagine a world in which the movie ended up being any different, but that was almost the case.
While The Void finally made its big screen debut and quickly positioned itself as one of the scariest MCU villains ever, its place was almost taken by a very unlikely choice in early drafts.

The Amateur isn’t just a spy thriller; it’s a gripping descent into one man’s personal war. Echoing the taut suspense of iconic films like Three Days of the Condor, this film, starring Academy Award winner Rami Malek and the formidable Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne, promises a visceral and timely story. Thunderbolts*has been a breath of fresh air for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, earning some of the strongest reviews and critical reaction for a film since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 back in 2023. Audiences have fully embraced this new team, now dubbed The New Avengers. Still, like many films in the MCU, Thunderbolts* went through various drafts that tried a bunch of different ideas. Some of these ideas included a returning character from across the MCU, including Ant-Man and the Wasp,Werewolf by Night, and Captain America: Brave New World's big marketing hook.
Speaking with Comic Book, Thunderbolts* co-writer Eric Pearson reveals various characters that were considered for the film. As soon as Thunderbolts* was announced, many fans assumed the film would connect the team to Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, aka The Red Hulk, who Harrison Ford played in Captain America: Brave New World earlier this year. With John Wick 5 officially announced, fans keep speculating how Keanu Reeves' titular hitman will rise from the proverbial ashes after seemingly dying in the last sequel, Chapter 4. Though Wick's saga is "over," according to franchise director Chad Stahelski, movie lovers can expect fresh twists and turns that differentiate the next film from previous installments.
Speaking with Empire, Stahelski explained how John Wick 5 will continue Wick's story after the ending of Chapter 4, which saw him succumb to shot wounds following a faceoff with Caine (Donnie Yen) and his cohorts looking on at his gravesite. Though Chapter 4 chronicled Wick's battle with the High Table, Stahelski claimed John Wick 5's story would move on from that saga and teased that there's more to his anticipated return than meets the eye.
“The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up,” he said. “So the only way to do a 5 is to have a new story that involves John Wick.

For Chris Brancato, co-creator and showrunner for Godfather of Harlem, if there is a show that can hold a mirror to some of the volatile issues gripping America today, the MGM+ series — now in its fourth season — just may be the one.
That wasn’t, however, intentional. Brancato and co-creator Paul Eckstein weren’t out to make political statements with the series, but it so happened that the Godfather of Harlem chronicles the latter part of the life of legendary Harlem gangster Ellsworth Raymond “Bumpy” Johnson (starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker) during the chaotic 1960s. This was a time of not just high-profile crime families ruling the streets of New York, but also a time of civil unrest and the height of the Civil Rights Movement.
There were leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. espousing his doctrine of passive protest regarding the injustices that plagued Black Americans for hundreds of years.

Proving decisively that social media chatter and hyperbolic headlines don’t define a film’s popularity, The Amateur made a strong push towards the $100 million milestone at the worldwide box office after just three weeks of release in theaters worldwide. Would anybody have expected it to do this well? It’s common for films designed for home video consumption to be given theatrical runs these days, even if they’re for publicity reasons. Just look at Den of Thieves 2: Pantera and The Accountant 2. Remarkably, The Amateur has grossed more globally than either of those films, despite appearing exactly like the kind of dad movie that will find an even bigger audience on PVOD.
In fact, its success serves as a curious counterpoint to Steven Soderbergh’s recent complaints about the underperformance of his film Black Bag, which couldn’t crack the $40 million mark worldwide despite unanimous praise and a...

With their collective pasts, it’s easy to see why the group would begrudgingly work together while ignoring the urge to go solo and be lone wolves like they have had to do in the past. The films and TV shows they have previously appeared in can be found below divded by character for those who might know some, but not others:

The Matrix Iconic Green Digital Rain Visual (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
The 1999 sci-fi action film, ‘The Matrix’, is still regarded as one of the best and most visually stunning movies of all time. If you remember, the film featured a cascading green code that rained down the screen.

That code has a surprising, rather weird, origin story behind it. It’s not anything remotely related to a cryptic computer program, encrypted data, alien language, or some text with a deeper philosophical meaning. In fact, they were not real codes at all. On the contrary, it was sushi, the Japanese dish. Can you believe it?

When the first two sequels to the Wachowskis' "The Matrix," titled "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions," both released in theaters in 2003, it set a strange precedent for Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking. Certain 2000s-era hits, rather than getting a single expected sequel, were granted a gigantic, outsize, super-sequel finale that was released in two parts. In addition to "The Matrix," major studios also took a "mega-sequel finale" approach to "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Harry Potter," "Twilight," and "The Hunger Games." Indeed, "Mission: Impossible" has since done the same thing with "Dead Reckoning" and "The Final Reckoning." Heck, even Marvel Studios made an "Avengers" mega-sequel-finale with "Infinity War" and "Endgame."
"The Matrix," however, also proved that the mega-sequel approach doesn't always work well. While "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" were hugely ambitious and exciting hits, they were also overstuffed, clunky, and wrestled with too many ideas. The mythology also became far too complicated for its own good.

While we are still waiting on the fourth season of the series, which will bring forth Hemsworth as the titular character, the fifth season will mark the final installment of the long-running series. When life gives you lemons, just grab the nearest Hemsworth brother and make some lemonade. Much has been made of the big recasting for Netflix's long-running video game adaptation "The Witcher," swapping out Henry Cavill for Liam Hemsworth as our newest take on the title character. That change will finally be seen on the small screen once the fourth season finally arrives sometime in 2025, ending a lengthy hiatus after season 3 came to a close in July of 2023. Filming on season 4 is complete as the creative team remains in post production on the series, meaning fans are that much closer to finally getting a proper look at the "The Hunger Games" and "The Land of Bad" actor fully suited up in that distinctive fantasy wig. But while Netflix continues to keep Hemsworth's highly-anticipated appearance as Geralt of Rivia in actual footage under wraps, barring a brief first look well over a year ago,...

The Witcher season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix later this year, but it will be minus Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia. The Man of Steel and Justice League star left the series shortly after season 3, with The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth quickly announced as his replacement.
Hemsworth, who is also known for The Expendables 2 and Independence Day: Resurgence, has only two seasons to show what he can do as the fan-favourite character. While the series is confirmed to end with season 5, winning over fans will be no easy feat, given how beloved Cavill's interpretation of the Andrzej Sapkowski creation remains.
Season 4 doesn't have a confirmed release date beyond "2025," but it's been shot back-to-back with that final batch of episodes. As we first reported on GameFragger.com, Redanian Intelligence has shared our best look yet at Hemsworth on set as Geralt. He's joined by several new and returning characters.

Francis Ford Coppola’s 2024 film Megalopolismay have failed to become a box office success, but one of the movie’s actors says that while making the sci-fi epic, he received the best direction he’s ever heard on set. Adam Driver(Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens) paid tribute to Coppola at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on April 26 as the Oscar-winning director received AFI’s 50th Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute.
Per Deadline, Driver called Coppola one of his “cinematic heroes” and talked about working with The Godfather director on Megalopolis. Driver starred in the film, which Coppola self-funded after first coming up with the idea back in 1983, as Cesar Catilina.
Driver called Coppola “A theater director who brought his process to film and revolutionized how we think about cinema, and certainly how we make it.” He continued, “His movies, for some, are...

While all the attention in recent weeks has been going to A Minecraft Movie and now Sinners, a low-key thriller has quietly been climbing up the box office charts. The Amateur is now among the five highest-grossing Hollywood films of the year, but unlike Minecraft and Sinners, it could hardly be considered a sure bet. Starring Rami Malek in the lead role, The Amateur proves that thrillers aimed at older men — think the audience that tunes in to Reacher and Bosch — shouldn’t be restricted to streaming.
With The Accountant 2 offering direct competition this week, however, The Amateur might soon run out of steam. The movie has grossed $33 million domestically and another $46 million from overseas markets, for a cumulative total of $80 million worldwide. The Amateur was produced on a reported budget of $60 million, which means that it needs to gross around $120 million worldwide to break even. This isn’t going to happen.

As Julia Garner joins the MCU, she’s getting a crash course in her mysterious Marvel comic book character.
The Golden Globe winner recently recalled how she joined the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which premieres July 25, explaining she “was confused” over the fact that her antagonist role, the Silver Surfer, is now a woman.
“I met up with [director Matt Shakman], who’s lovely,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “We met up at some restaurant in Burbank or something, I don’t even remember, but I knew it was for the Fantastic Four.”
Garner continued, “And then I was confused because I was like, ‘Wait, isn’t the Silver Surfer a man?’ I was just like, ‘Okay, well, I’ll play anything.’ [Laughs] I was a very big fan of Matt’s, so there was already, in my mind, like, ‘I should probably meet with Matt Shakman because he’s...

Francis Ford Coppola isn’t done with “Megalopolis.” After Quentin Tarantino wrote a novel version of his “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” feature (which is now getting a sequel from David Fincher), Coppola has announced that he is turning his 2024 film “Megalopolis” into a graphic novel.
The book will be written by Chris Ryall, who has adapted Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Harlan Ellison’s works as well. Coppola explains that while it’s inspired by the film, it will be much more than that.
“I was pleased to put the idea of a graphic novel in the competent hands of Chris Ryall with the idea that, although it was inspired by my film ‘Megalopolis,’ it didn’t necessarily have to be limited by it,” Coppola said in a statement to THR. “I hoped the graphic novel would take its own flight, with its own artists and writer so...

Clint Eastwoodis an artist unlike any other. Over the course of his long career, he has contributed to world cinema, inspiring young and established filmmakers as an actor, writer, and director. Megalopolis was one of the big swings of 2024, with Oscar-winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola putting decades of his life into its development and betting tens of millions of his own money on a project that he hoped would become an enduring part of his legacy.
It told the story of an obsessive architect Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), who wanted to create a utopian city, but finds himself at odds with Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito). The film was polarizing, to say the least. It failed to light up the box office and earned mixed reviews, but it certainly sparked conversation, becoming one of the most talked about movies in Hollywood last year.
Now, the Godfather filmmaker’s work will get a re-interpretation with Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis: An Original Graphic Novel.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps made waves when they cast the film's main characters, including one of the antagonists, the Silver Surfer. Julia Garner, an incredibly talented actor who recently starred in Wolf Man, made headlines as the first female live-action depiction of the Herald of Galactus. Some fans have speculated that Garner was playing a gender-bent version of Norrin Radd, the original Silver Surfer. However, the three-time Emmy-winning Ozark actress has confirmed the true identity of her version of the iconic Marvel character, and it's a deep-cut reference to the source material.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Garner confirmed that when she signed on for The Fantastic Four, director Matt Shakman explained to her that the character she would end up portraying was Shalla-Bal, the love interest of Norrin Radd and one of the few characters to wield the power of the Silver Surfer.

HBO has just unveiled the trailer for the upcoming Paul Reubens documentary to premiere on Friday, May 23. The two-part documentary film titled Pee-wee as Himself will chronicle Reubens' lifelong run as the iconic character Pee-wee Herman, and it's based on over 40 hours of interview footage. The man behind Pee-wee Herman, Paul Reubens (Blow), is ready to truly reveal himself. It’s just unfortunate that his definitive documentary, Pee-wee as Himself, had to come out posthumously.
The HBO Original two-part documentary directed by Matt Wolf premieres Friday, May 23 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on HBO. Put together, it’s a three-hour, 20-minute portrait of Reubens. And that’s exactly how the two parts will air on linear HBO — together. You can watch them however you want on Max.
Pee-wee as Himself is centered on “a soul-baring interview” with Reubens, per the synopsis, and is “a window into his never-before-discussed personal life.” It was a particularly lengthy soul-baring interview: Pee-wee as Himself is pieced together from more than 40 hours of interview footage filmed before Reubens’ death in 2023. Wolf also had at his disposal more than 1,000 hours of archival footage and “tens of thousands of never-before-seen photographs” from Reubens’ personal collections,...

Paul Reubens became an icon thanks to his comedic character Pee-wee Herman, but who really was the man behind the cringe comedy laughs? Two-part documentary “Pee-wee as Himself” dives into Reubens’ legacy and controversial celebrity status, with auteurs such as Tim Burton, Judd Apatow, and Benny and Josh Safdie immortalizing both Pee-wee and Reubens himself.
Directed by Matt Wolf, the documentary premiered at Sundance. The feature is billed as the “definitive portrait” of Reubens that offers a “window into his never before discussed personal life.” The film was crafted from over 40 hours of interview footage filmed before Reubens’ death in 2023 at age 70, and includes clips from more than 1,000 hours of archival footage, as well as tens of thousands of never-before-seen photographs from Reubens’ personal collections.

We may still be reeling from the season finale of The Wheel of Time, but don't worry, there's plenty more good fantasy television on the way this year. One of the biggest fantasy shows still to come down the pike in 2025 is The Witcher, which will be releasing its fourth season on Netflix. We don't have an exact release date yet, but unless there's a serious shake-up at Netflix, it will come sometime between now and December 31.
This is an important season for the series, since it will be the first time that the white-haired witcher Geralt of Rivia is played by Liam Hemsworth, after previous Geralt actor Henry Cavill stepped down following season 3. Changing a lead actor is always a challenge, and doubly so when they're as central to the series as Cavill's Geralt. Can The Witcher survive this change?
We shall see. Beyond Hemsworth's Geralt, The Witcher...

In the latest animated tale from the directing team of Rob Edwards and Christopher Jenkins, a familiar yet fun world is revealed. The all-star Sneaks features the vocal talents of Anthony Mackie, Laurence Fishburne, Keith David, Macy Gray, Martin Lawrence, Rico Rodriguez, and many more. It tells the story of two designer sneakers that get separated after a creepy collector (Fishburne) steals them from a young man who won them. It’s a sweet and humorous look at friendship, separation, and sneakers.
We recently spoke to several of the cast members, and it was quite the treat. First up, I spoke with Anthony Mackie, and he really is one of the nicest guys around. He opened up about his first pair of sneakers. As well as taking a break from superheroes for this animated adventure. After that, I spoke with Rico Rodriquez, who took a liking to my Funko Pops collection.
