With Thunderbolts*/*The New Avengers serving as something of a comeback for Marvel Studios, all eyes are now on The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The characters have better brand recognition than the Thunderbolts, but they're also best known to moviegoers for starring in three consecutive duds.

The odds are already stacked against the reboot as it has to share July with Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman, and Smurfs. Excitement among fans does appear to be high, though, and more promo art has surfaced as the promotional tie-ins begin.

This latest wave highlights Marvel's First Family; Mister Fantastic strikes a pose not dissimilar to that classic Chris Samnee comic book cover (he's even making a "4" with his hand), and the Invisible Woman shows off one of her force fields.

The Human Torch, meanwhile, flames on, and thanks to the lines on his suit, looks like a piece of Jack Kirby artwork come to life.

The climax of Anthony and Joe Russo's ultra-blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame" was a battle between the powerful warmongering space alien Thanos (Josh Brolin) and about 40 superhero characters, all introduced over the course of the 21 previous movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The battle is the moment when the MCU dispenses with story, cleverness, character, or nuance, and goes for the throat, allowing those superheroes to give a beatdown to Thanos and his minions for 37 full minutes. The sequence ends with Iron Man murdering Thanos and his many, many minions with a set of magical wish stones. The moral implications of Iron Man's mass murder in "Endgame" aren't dealt with, but no one much cared. Fans came for the biff-boom-pow of it all.

Earlier this week, we got a first look at what appeared to be a downed Sentinel on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Now, we have a birds-eye view offering a clearer shot at the mutant-hunting robot's legs (in what's believed to be the X-Mansion's grounds).

Ahead of his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that one contemporary comic is “essential” to his portrayal of Doctor Doom, revealing that he has a copy of Jonathan Hickman’s 2024 Doom one-shot on set with him to serve as inspiration for the role, possibly giving some insight into what fans can expect when Avengers: Doomsday hits screens a year from now.

A new image from the Marvel Studios reboot has been released today, with Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm preparing to take flight for the fateful journey set to grant them fantastic powers. 

Reed can be seen giving Ben the thumbs up, unaware that his best friend will be forever transformed into a "Thing" when they return from the cosmos.

It was initially reported that we wouldn't see the team's origin story in the MCU, but images like this (we've included a few other officially released shots below) somewhat contradict that. Still, we don't expect this to take up a huge chunk of the movie.

Avengers: Doomsday is now in production in London, UK, and the lead actors are hyping up the upcoming entry in the MCU. One of them is Robert Downey Jr.

In a new post on his Instagram, Robert Downey Jr. revealed his "Doom workstation essentials." The post featured a box of Kleenex, a script stand with the label "Doctor Doom" on it, some snacks, headphones, and even sunglasses. But what is even more important is that he seemingly hinted at the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday plot with a very interesting comic book choice: 2024's Doctor #1.

The comic comes from writer Jonathan Hickman, artist Sanford Greene, and colorist Rachelle Rosenberg, and is set in the near future. Doom #1 also teases one interesting character: Galactus.

As usual, Marvel is keeping details for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday tightly under lock and key.

Thunderbolts* is set to enter its third weekend in theaters, and despite mostly positive reviews, the film has tapered off at the box office quicker than expected. At the time of writing, Thunderbolts* has grossed $134 million domestically and $143 million internationally for a worldwide total of $277 million. This $134 million in the U.S. is enough to push Thunderbolts* past Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the critically panned 2007 superhero sequel starring Chris Evans. Evans played The Human Torch before he took on the role of Captain America in the MCU. Thunderbolts* also zoomed past 1978’s Superman and 2003’s Hulk. As filming continues on Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, these latest photos and video from what is believed to be the X-Mansion set reveal what looks a lot like a downed Sentinel.

Though the head isn't visible, what appears to be a large mauve chest plate and foot sticking out of the tarp would seem to leave little doubt that this is indeed one of the giant robots that have been a scourge of mutant-kind in the comics since they were introduced back in the mid-60s.

The Sentinels were a staple of the original X-Men animated series, and have also made a couple of live-action appearances - although Days of Future Past's take on the robots left a lot to be desired among fans that were hoping to see the classic design.

It feels like we're in a time of transition for the MCU, and it likely won't be until after Avengers: Secret Wars that Marvel Studios gets fully back on track.

The Netflix Upfront is here, and with it, we just got a bunch of newly announced Netflix movies, and one of them that has definitely caught our eye is Here Comes The Flood. Although technically already announced many years ago, a new iteration of the movie has gained steam and attached three huge stars: Denzel Washington, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Robert Pattinson.

As you may recall, this is Netflix’s second iteration of the project. Jason Bateman was attached to the project in 2021, with the first mention of the project in 2020, although it sounds like it’s gone through different iterations since. The script still comes from Simon Kinberg. Robert Downey Jr. was also reportedly in talks back in 2021.

The intriguing new series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a young, genius inventor whose iron suits rival the best in the MCU. The character made her debut in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler. “Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” said Coogler. “In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.

Marvel fans have been eagerly waiting for the first trailer for Ironheart, but instead, Marvel Studios has surprised everyone by releasing a behind-the-scenes featurette for the new Disney+ series. Don’t worry, though, the full trailer is set to drop today!

This featurette includes plenty of new footage and interviews with key people involved in the show, including star Dominique Thorne, Marvel’s Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. Coogler previously introduced Riri Williams (Ironheart) in his 2022 film, Wakanda Forever.

The producers of Ironheart have made it clear that the series is not about passing on Iron Man’s mantle. Instead, it’s about Riri Williams proving herself and building her own legacy. They stated:

Robert Downey Jr. shared a new photo from the set of Avengers: Doomsday and gave a nod to Hawkeye’s Jeremy Renner.

Downey will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom and made a post on social media as he films the new movie.

“Reading Renner’s book and feeling stronger already…,” Downey posted on Instagram as he flexed his bicep and read Renner’s book My Next Breath.

The actor added, “What a journey to wisdom … very instructive… a must read!”

Downey’s post had him sitting in front of his trailer with a poster of the comic book version of Doctor Doom that read, “Do not Knock. Trust yourself.”

Even though Marvel Studios has toned it down with the cameos in its last few entries, it looks like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will give fans a bit of a thrill. During a short interview just before today's Disney Upfronts, series star Charlie Cox (Spider-Man: No Way Home) was asked byThe Hollywood Reporter if there will be any crossover cameos in the upcoming episodes. The British actor was very straightforward about it and replied with a simple "Yeah."

Of course, Cox didn't expand on his comment because it's way too early to hint at what cameos we might see in the new season of Daredevil: Born Again. Matt Murdoch's return to television was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but it seems unlikely that the tone of the other Marvel series would fit into the Daredevil universe — especially because, in theory, it offers no room for Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) to break the fourth wall.

The Oppenheimer Oscar-winner is clearly not in full costume as Victor Von Doom here, but he does appear to be wearing at least part of his undersuit as he sits reading co-star Jeremey Renner's new book. Rdj is also flexing his bicep, and it looks like he's bulked up somewhat to play the iconic villain... With some help from extra padding!

If you look closely, you'll also notice some red dots on Downey's head and face, which may confirm that VFX will be used for either Doom's mask or possibly his disfigured face.
