Matt Damon's Interstellar Cameo, Explained
Image
"Interstellar" represents a lot of firsts for Christopher Nolan. The 2014 sci-fi movie was the first time the director infused one of his stories with some real heart and treated it as if it were just as important as any of the philosophical musings which typically guide his films. As such, "Interstellar" became Nolan's heartfelt masterpiece, not only making time for emotional exploration but also arguing for love itself as our only means of transcending the inexorable march of time.

"Interstellar" was also the first time Nolan worked with Dp Hoyte van Hoytema, who has since served as cinematographer on three of the British director's other films. It was also the first time Nolan worked with Matt Damon, who for a long time had been an outspoken fan of the director. Even after his brief appearance in "Interstellar," Damon was angling for a bigger role in a Nolan film, which he...

Yellowstone spinoff The Madison excluded from Paramount's latest release window update
Image
We recently learned some exciting news about several returning Taylor Sheridan shows from Paramount, but there was one particular title left out of the group. While we learned release windows for four of the prolific producer's television series coming later this fall, one of his highly anticipated Yellowstone spinoffs didn't receive an update on when to expect its release.

The Madison wasn't given a release window along with four highly anticipated Sheridan series. During an earnings call held by Paramount, the company revealed that Tulsa King season 3, Mayor of Kingstown season 4, Landman season 2, and Dutton Ranch would all premiere on Paramount+ between September and November 2025. The company also confirmed 1944 would release in 2026, and we also learned Kayce Dutton's spinoff arrives on CBS sometime next year..

Unfortunately, that list of titles didn't include The Madison, which was honestly expected to be released sometime in 2025 and still could, perhaps even this summer.

Skydance Pauses New Spending On Jeremy Strong 9/11 First Responders Drama Series Amid Uncertainty Over Paramount Merger Approval
Image
Exclusive: We may have the first casualty of the prolonged — and unpredictable — regulatory approval process of Skydance’s proposed $8 billion Paramount takeover. Skydance is pausing new spending on a high-profile drama series starring and executive produced by Jeremy Strong and written and executive produced by Tobias Lindholm, sources tell Deadline.

Tentatively titled 9/12, the series, which was originally set up at Sister in 2021 as The Best Of Us before moving to Skydance late last year, tells the story of the first responders of 9/11, relying on heavily researched accounts, and pays tribute to those impacted.

It is the first and only so far Skydance production budgeted against the new Skydance-Paramount deal; it had been moving ahead for a targeted August filming kickoff. That tentative start of production timeline remains in place for now but Skydance executives have informed the series’ creative team that new spending is being put on hold as of today,...

When Jonah Hill Revealed How Little He Made For The Wolf Of Wall Street — And Why He Didn’t Care
Image
Why Did Jonah Hill Settle For A Minimum Paycheck In The Wolf Of Wall Street? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

Jonah Hill’s career has been a long game of reinvention. He started out in loud comedies and eventually landed deep in the world of high-caliber dramas. One of the biggest turning points came in The Wolf of Wall Street, where his portrayal of the unhinged, gold-chain-wearing Donnie Azoff firmly established him as more than just the funny sidekick.

While starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in a Scorsese-directed frenzy of drugs, greed, and chaos, Hill didn’t just hold his own. He stole scenes.

Star Power But Minimum Paycheck

Jonah Hill’s paycheck for the role was shockingly humble despite the film’s A-list glamour and blockbuster status. While his co-stars raked in millions, Hill pocketed what amounted to a Hollywood minimum wage, around $60K, for nearly seven months of shooting.

Dwayne Johnson, future Oscar nominee? With ‘The Smashing Machine,’ the box-office draw makes his prestige play
Image
After A24 released the first trailer for The Smashing Machine with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, it didn’t take long for awards pundits and journalists to start speculating about its future as an Oscar player. Truth be told, Johnson has been considered a potential Best Actor nominee for months, with only a still photo of his transformation into UFC fighter Mark Kerr in his war chest.

However, now that The Smashing Machine trailer has arrived, it seems fair, even at this early stage in the calendar, with the movie still months from its debut, to wonder aloud whether Johnson could leap from popcorn star and beloved WWE wrestler to Academy Award nominee.

If it happens, don’t act too surprised, especially since, on paper, The Smashing Machine has a lot in its favor. Based on the documentary of the same name, and written and directed by Benny Safdie, The Smashing Machine...

Every Upcoming Yellowstone Series & Spin-Off From Taylor Sheridan
Image
"Yellowstone" might be over, but Taylor Sheridan and Paramount's hit franchise is a constantly growing juggernaut that shows no signs of slowing down. With "1883" and "1923" officially done and dusted, Sheridan and his trusty colleagues are working on even more spin-offs of the hit neo-Western series, which will continue exploring the Dutton family's present, history, and future.

As of this writing, there are five "Yellowstone" spin-offs in various stages of development. If they all go ahead as planned, we will be treated to stories set against the backdrop of historic real-world conflicts and be re-introduced to some fan-favorite characters following the events of "Yellowstone."

One show doesn't even feature the Duttons, which opens the door for the franchise to keep expanding after the main family's history has been milked harder than the cows that populate their ranch. So, without further ado, here is a list of every "Yellowstone...

'The Gentlemen' Season 2 Has Now Started Filming for Netflix
Image
Fans have been left waiting for any updates about the second season of Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen. And while we now have a promising update, it could mean fans will be left waiting even longer before returning to this caper about an aristocrat and his drug empire.

As per a report by Screen Global Production, The Gentlemen Season 2 has only just started filming, with the Netflix production returning to the United Kingdom for the follow-up. Much like its predecessor, the second season will consist of eight episodes but, while the series was officially renewed back in August last year, it has taken a while before getting it in front of cameras. Meaning audiences are likely looking at a 2026 release date.

Landing on Netflix in March 2024, The Gentlemen is a spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 crime comedy of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding,...

Kiefer Sutherland Gave One of His Best Performances in a 33 Year Old Movie Where Tom Cruise Overshadowed Him
Image
Kiefer Sutherland can play the protagonist in the story, like Jack Bauer from 24 or Tom Kirkman from Designated Survivor. And he can easily slip into a cruel antagonist, like David from The Lost Boys or Freddie Lee Cobb from A Time to Kill. The variety of roles in Sutherland’s filmography, spread over more than four decades, speaks volumes about the actor.

However, there is one role for which we never appreciated Sutherland enough. In 1992, Sutherland took on the supporting role alongside the likes of Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, and Kevin Bacon in A Few Good Men. He had a limited role in the film as Lt Jonathan Kendrick, but this villain performance of the actor was different from his others.

Timothée Chalamet’s Transformation – From Indie Heartthrob To Hollywood’s Most Bankable Star
Image
Timothée Chalamet Movie Transformation (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Timothée Chalamet’s rise has been as dramatic and stylish as one of his red carpet-looks. He started as the indie scene’s favorite artsy boy, soft-spoken, floppy-haired, and constantly heartbroken in sun-drenched landscapes. Fast forward a few years, and he’s now leading box office juggernauts, riding space worms in Dune: Part Two, and rapping his way through chocolate factories in Wonka.

Somehow, he managed to stay both a fashion icon and a total goofball (we’re still not over Lil Timmy Tim). With collaborations spanning from Greta Gerwig to Denis Villeneuve, he has officially entered that rare actor zone where people will show up just to watch him stare moodily into the distance. So, whether you’ve been following him since Call Me By Your Name or hopped on the hype train post-Interstellar, it’s time to rank the hits, the near-misses,...

Explosions, Aliens and Dyer’s Fists Lead Legend’s May Madness
Image
Legend has unveiled its packed May 2025 premiere schedule, delivering an ambitious run of science fiction, fantasy, and action classics that stretch across time, space, and genres.

At the top of the pile is James Cameron’s rarely broadcast deep-sea thriller The Abyss, which makes a rare UK television appearance on Sunday 25 May at 9pm. This underwater epic about alien intelligence, nuclear paranoia, and human resilience remains one of Cameron’s most visually arresting and emotionally charged films.

But for those who prefer their sci-fi terrain a little more subterranean than subaquatic, Legend has curated a trio of matinee premieres that mine classic adventure with gusto. Kicking off with Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) on 5 May, followed by Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961) and disaster milestone The Poseidon Adventure (1972), the channel dives deep into cult cinematic archaeology.

The month also marks the arrival of Highlander III: The Sorcerer,...

These 5 Animated Movies Were Made on a Bigger Budget Than Interstellar
Image
Christopher Nolan‘s space epic Interstellar wasn’t just a mind-bending journey through space and time—it was also a masterclass in budget efficiency. Made for approximately $165 million, the film delivered spectacular visuals, an all-star cast, and groundbreaking scientific concepts that had audiences questioning reality.

But would it surprise you to learn that several animated features actually cost more to produce? It’s true! While Nolan was crafting realistic wormholes and fifth-dimensional tesseracts, animation studios were quietly pouring even more cash into pixels and rendering farms.

The incredible artistry behind these animated blockbusters comes with a hefty price tag that would make even a black hole-exploring spacecraft seem economical by comparison. The technical challenges of bringing completely imagined worlds to life frame-by-frame sometimes demand resources that even interstellar travel can’t match.

Disney‘s 2010 adaptation of Rapunzel didn’t just feature incredible hair animation—it featured incredibly expensive hair animation.

Harmony Korine on Why So Many Movies Fail to Break Through Today: ‘I Think It’s Because They Suck’
Image
Harmony Korine is hard to pin down: Stylistically, ideologically, and even rhetorically. While leading a Q&a with him before a mostly teenage and 20-something crowd at the Ringling College of Art and Design at the Sarasota Film Festival on April 12, that quickly became apparent.

Like he was once again appearing on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” as he did frequently in the 1990s, Korine gave some amusing answers — maybe non-answers.

What inspired his latest film, “Baby Invasion“? “I’d seen this Phil Collins video, and I just remember watching it, and I had been drinking Mountain Dew and eating Skittles, and I was playing a lot of Tetris, and the movie just came to me.”

What made him fall in love with Florida, where he’s made his recent movies and has headquartered his company Edglrd? “Strip malls. I was investing in this company that just builds strip malls,...

What is the spin-off about?

While the final episode of Yellowstone was teased as a season finale rather than a series ender, news reports have been circulating since the January 1, 2023 mid-season finale of the fifth season. Interstellar, a movie which was never among the director’s top grossers, hit IMAX screens last week for its tenth anniversary, and screenings have been selling out constantly. The fact is – Nolan makes movies that belong on the big-screen, and he’s one of the few directors who’s arguably become his own franchise. For proof of that, one need only look at the fact that he’s planning a new movie, and the cast is jampacked with A-listers, because Everyone wants to work with Nolan.

A caveat – our Christopher Nolan movies ranked list is just one person’s opinion, and his work is divisive. Everyone has their favourites (and least favourites), so I’m hoping this ranking will open up some discussion in the comments below.

2025 Sarasota Film Festival Awards Anti Book-Banning ‘The Librarians’ Its Top Documentary Prize
Image
The 2025 Sarasota Film Festival has announced its winners, and one film in particular will draw attention for having screened to much acclaim in this bright red county, ultimately winning the top documentary prize: Kim A. Snyder’s “The Librarians,” a film that’s sounding the alarm strongly about right-wing attacks on free speech, won Best Documentary Feature, after screening at New College, a university itself subjected to a right-wing takeover and attacks on free speech.

The win for “The Librarians” caps another edition of the festival known for its strong curation (largely due to senior programmer Brian Gordon), that brings to Florida’s Gulf Coast titles from Sundance, Cannes, Palm Springs, Mill Valley, and more.

The documentary jury, comprised of freelance journalist Addie Morfoot, Impact Partners co-founder Geralyn Dreyfous, and “Lovers” director Taylor McFadden also awarded a Special Jury Mention to Sasha Wortzel’s “River of Grass,” an environmentally-focused documentary about the Everglades.

Nicky Katt Dies: ‘Dazed and Confused’ and ‘Boston Public’ Actor Was 54
Image
Nicky Katt, an actor whose memorable roles included turns in the film Dazed and Confused and Boston Public, has died. He was 54. An attorney for Katt confirmed the actor’s death to The Hollywood Reporter but other confirmed details — including time, place, and cause of death — are so far unavailable. Variety notes Katt reportedly died on Tuesday, April 8, in Burbank, California. Katt joined Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Ben Affleck, Renée Zellwager, and other future stars in Dazed and Confused, a 1993 Richard Linklater film about Austin students on their last day of high school in 1976. His tough-guy character, Clint, clashes with Adam Goldberg’s Mike in the film and delivers classic dialogue: “I only came here to do two things, man: kick some ass and drink some beer. Looks like we’re almost out of beer.” On Boston Public, a 2000 David E. Kelley drama series about a public high school, Katt played Harry Senate,...

1923 star wants to return to the Yellowstone universe (but not how you’d expect)
Image
The doors of 1923 came to a close this past weekend, but they aren’t completely locked. Taylor Sheridan is bringing another prequel into the fold that could bring back some characters from 1923. If there is one character that fans want to see back in this Western world it's Spencer Dutton.

We met Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) back in 2022 as the handsome lion hunter. It didn’t take long for him to become the face of the series next to Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford). He has even given Rip Wheeler a run for his money as the biggest hunk of the Yellowstone universe. As a war hero, he can take down any threat that comes his way and was the other half of one of the greatest Dutton love stories ever told. Even if the love story didn’t have a fairytale ending.

Brandon Sklenar as Spencer in season 2, Episode 7 of...

An Actor’s Actor, Nicky Katt, Dies At 54: Sources
Image
Still working to get official confirmation and cause of death, but I can report from sources that veteran actor Nicky Katt has passed away, at age 54. Katt will quickly to mind for his memorable turn as the high school Texan tough Clint Bruno, who picks a fight with Adam Goldberg’s Mike Newhouse, gets a beer poured over his head, and pummels the existentially tortured teen in Rick Linklater’s 1993 gem Dazed and Confused.

Matthew McConaughey and Nicky Katt in ‘Dazed and Confused’

He was a go-to guy for Linklater and a coterie of filmmakers that includes Steven Soderbergh, Christopher Nolan, Robert Rodriguez and David Gordon Green. Each cast Katt on multiple occasions. He is also remembered for his role as Harry Senate in several seasons of Boston Public. His specialty seemed to be edgy tough guys, roles he played in films including A Time to Kill and Boiler Room.

Hollywood is popular for its red carpet award shows like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmys, which come along with teary-eyed acceptance speeches celebrating cinematic masterpieces. Directors, actors, and everyone who works together to make a cinema great are acknowledged at these events.

However, to keep things in check and keep them humble, the Golden Raspberry Awards are given. This accolade celebrates cinematic missteps, films that missed the mark, and actors who delivered performances far from acting. The Raspberry Awards are the Thanos snap of Hollywood to keep things in balance.

In Hollywood’s ever-shifting constellation of stars, Jennifer Lopez has carved out a place all her own. She sings, acts, dances, produces, and somehow makes each move feel intentional. Her style is sharp. Her presence, steady.

Her journey, though, goes far deeper than glitz and glamour. Before the world knew her name, she was a dancer with big dreams and relentless drive, slowly building her path from small TV roles to leading lady status. Along the way, she’s broken ground—not just for herself but for Latin artists everywhere—challenging old narratives and expanding what representation in film and music can look like.

Today, she’s more than just a star. She’s a storyteller, a risk-taker, a businesswoman—and someone who’s turned her creative instincts into a global legacy.

‘The Voice’ Season 27 Judges and Their Salaries Revealed
Image
The Voice is spinning those red chairs once again, and Season 27 is bringing the drama, the music, and plenty of unforgettable moments! Since first hitting our screens in 2011, this fan-favorite singing competition has turned into so much more than a talent show. It’s where rising stars meet superstar coaches, where blind auditions lead to major breakthroughs, and where every episode packs in mentorship, emotion, and a whole lot of fun.

The format hasn’t changed much — and that’s a good thing! Four big-name coaches listen with their ears, not their eyes, picking singers purely based on voice. Then comes the real game: mentoring their chosen artists all the way to the finals.

For Season 27, we’ve got a lineup that’s equal parts seasoned and new. Michael Bublé, Adam Levine, John Legend, and Kelsea Ballerini are taking the reins this time around, bringing their signature styles to the table.

Matthew McConaughey didn't mean to 'take a break' from film before The Rivals of Amziah King
Matthew McConaughey didn't mean to "take a break" from film before he was cast in 'The Rivals of Amziah King'.The 55-year-old actor last had a main role in a film in 2021 but after a short hiatus, he is back starring in the Western and noted that it was the "musicality" of the story that persuaded him to sign on. He told Collider: "I didn't feel like I needed a break. I just ended up taking a break, did other things, wrote a book. I really enjoyed that. Another version of storytelling with less filters. I did a few other things there along the way, and then this came along. Original voice, original place, time, space, the language, the poetry, the musicality of it, the innocence of it, the humour of it, the wild, anarchic humor of it. A father figure and a mentor and a wild a**, Amziah King,...

Paul Rudd Doesn’t Want You to Know He Helped Leonardo DiCaprio With the Biggest Role of His Career
Image
Who would have thought Ant-Man would play a role in making Titanic one of the greatest films of all time? That’s right, Paul Rudd had a direct influence on Leonardo DiCaprio by helping him decide whether he should go for the James Cameron film. Titanic went down in history as one of the greatest films to hit the theater. The chemistry between Jack and Rose, the breathtaking production scale, and the emotional story of the “unsinkable ship”—everything aligned for it to become a timeless classic.

The cast, much like the story, plays a crucial role in shaping a movie’s success. Oftentimes, movies suffer due to miscasting, turning what could have been a masterpiece into a forgettable experience. Can you imagine Titanic without Leonardo DiCaprio? For many, the idea of anyone else playing Jack Dawson alongside Kate Winslet seems almost unthinkable.

Lanterns: Everything we know about the upcoming Dcu HBO series (gun-wielding John Stewart spotted on set)
Image
What Do We Know About the upcoming Dcu original series Lanterns? More thank you may think. The HBO series will be the first live-action project on television from James Gunn’s rebooted DC cinematic universe. With casting announcements, rumors, and more, we know a lot of what is to come. So, let’s jump in and discuss Lanterns.

We will see multiple Green Lanterns

While we met several members of the Green Lantern Corps in the Ryan Reynolds-led feature film, this new series is intentionally plural, as we will meet more than just Hal Jordan. According to James Gunn, Lanterns will center on Jon Stewart, who briefly appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in a non-speaking role. We also know that James Gunn’s longtime friend and collaborator Nathan Fillion is portraying Lanterns hero Guy Gardner in the upcoming Superman movie and will potentially appear.

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014) Ending Explained
Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar (2014)
Interstellar Explained

Hoping that by now you would have seen Christopher Nolan’s space film, Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine. I have tried to dissect and explain the ending of Interstellar in a lucid manner from my understanding. I will not get into nuances of science about the Wormholes and Black Holes so you can study them separately here. Christopher Nolan himself stated,” People are always accusing my films of having plot holes, and I’m very aware of the plot holes in my films and very aware of when people spot them, but they generally don’t. But what were some science issues people had with the film? That was Kip’s domain.” I also want to add that this is a science Fiction movie, not a documentary on space that could have an accuracy of a cent percentage.

Interstellar is a big-budget science fiction...

'Interstellar' Joins 'Barbie' and 'Fight Club' on a Prestigious List
Image
The ten-year anniversary celebrations for director Christopher Nolan's epic science-fiction film Interstellar are showing no signs of abating. Not too long after the movie was re-released in theaters worldwide, it entered a rather exclusive list on the platform Letterboxd, where users can log, review, and rate films. Interstellar is now among only three titles on the platform with over five million views. Released in 2014, the film featured Matthew McConaughey as a NASA astronaut who goes on a mission to find a habitable new planet for a severely endangered humankind.

On Monday, Letterboxd announced that Interstellar had become the latest film to achieve over 5 million views, joining Greta Gerwig's Barbie and David Fincher's Fight Club. It's an eclectic list that reflects the diverse tastes of the platform's users. While Interstellar is a philosophical big screen spectacle, Barbie is a satirical comedy drama, and Fight Club is the definition of a cult hit.
