The Death Stranding franchise is picking up steam again as we draw closer to the release of its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Delivering packages in a post-apocalyptic wasteland never goes out of style, especially with Hideo Kojima’s trademark blend of weirdness and brilliance driving the story.
With a movie adaptation already confirmed, the hype for the franchise is only growing. But just as fans were gearing up to enjoy the sequel this June, a recent interview with Norman Reedus, who plays the game’s protagonist, Sam, has added a whole new layer of intrigue to the conversation.

Since its founding in 1999, the Newport Beach Film Festival in Orange County, California has grown into one of Southern California’s largest international cinema events thanks to its wide range of programming and appearances by actors ranging from Harvey Keitel and Nicolas Cage to June Squibb and Colman Domingo. This year, the festival is launching a new event that looks to do for television what the film fest has done for the movies.
Set for the first weekend in June, the inaugural Newport Beach TV Fest will feature screenings and panels related to some of television’s most acclaimed and popular shows, including “The White Lotus,” “Yellowjackets,” “1923,” and “The Studio.” This morning the festival announced that it will present its Outstanding Drama Series Award to Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series “Landman” at an event that will be attended by several of the show’s stars.

A movie shooting on location is often compared to a circus, because both are self-contained communities of performers and laborers that visit for a short time, rile up the locals, then pull out, leaving sawdust and elephant dung in their wake, literally and/or figuratively.
Nobody knows this better than Robert A. Halmi, who came to Georgia as a 23-year-old producer 45 years ago to make a TV movie titled “When the Circus Came to Town” that was actually filmed “under the big top” in a tent.
Halmi says they didn’t worry about outside sound leaking in through the thin canvas walls and ruining the dialog because, “in those days, everything was looped anyway.”
Sound recording standards have changed in the ensuing decades, but not as much as the production landscape in Georgia, thanks to the film and TV incentive enacted by the state in 2008 offering an uncapped tax credit...

Margaret Qualley was originally set to star in the psychological horror-thriller Victorian Psycho, but she dropped out of the project earlier this year, just before production was slated to begin. Deadline reports that a replacement has now been found. Maika Monroe (Longlegs) has stepped up to star in Victorian Psycho.
Victorian Psycho takes place in 1858, with Monroe playing Winifred Notty, a young, eccentric governess who “arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Her responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.” Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) will direct from a script by Virginia Feito, which is based on her novel of the same name.

"In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer." Anyone who ever watched Joss Whedon's supernatural coming-of-age series Buffy The Vampire Slayer knows the iconic lines — and knows that, for six years and 144 episodes, they referred to the one and only Sarah Michelle Gellar. But now, with a new Disney+ bound Buffy reboot officially in the works, a new generation is upon us, and with it comes a new chosen one. And now we know who that chosen one will be: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
Per Deadline's reporting, Armstrong — whose impressive CV at just 15 years of age already includes a starring role opposite Nicolas Cage in The Old Way, a series regular slot on Netflix's Anne With An E, and a compelling lead turn in the above...

Don’t call her Mary Poppins.
Maika Monroe has been cast as a killer governess in Victorian Psycho, a psychological horror thriller that Zachary Wigon will direct for production and financing outfit Anton.
Monroe joins Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho, JoJo Rabbit) in the production that previously had Margaret Qualley in the role of the governess.
The project adapts the best-selling book by Virginia Feito, who also wrote the script. Set in 1858, the story centers on a governess named Winifred Notty, hiding her psychopathic tendencies while arriving to work at a remote gothic manor. But as the woman takes care of her charges, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder, too late mind you, if their new governess is serving up a spoonful of sugar with a little arsenic on the side.

Filmmaker Simon West has his next directorial project lined up, and it's shaping up to be an interesting, based-on-a-true-story war film. West is perhaps best known for his earlier directing credits, with the two most notable being the 1997 Nicolas Cage action film Con Air and 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie. The director frequently collaborates with Cage, who would also star in the filmmaker's 2012 action thriller, Stolen. After a busy couple of years, the director now has his sights set on a true story that sounds stranger than fiction.
An exclusive report from Deadline revealed that West would be directing a World War II espionage thriller. The trade outlet describes the movie as the true story of British Intelligence Officers who use unconventional means of espionage and false information to gain an upper hand in the war. The group of spies' "unprecedented strategic operations" end up fooling Nazi leadership,...

Osgood Perkins is to Neon as Ari Aster is to A24. Does that make sense? Both are acclaimed filmmakers known for their horror movies who have produced multiple hit movies for their respective indie distributors.
Perkins is set to continue making movies for Neon thanks to a new first-look deal involving his new banner, Phobos. The Hollywood Reporter shares that the director will run his company alongside partner Chris Ferguson and under the deal, "Neon will serve as the home for Perkins' projects, which he and Ferguson will produce."
Additionally, the deal allows for Phobos co-owners Perkins and Ferguson to produce other movies being released by Neon, who will be responsible for the theatrical releases in the United States and represent that international sales.

Sony's Spider-Man Universe did not find much success in theaters outside the Tom Hardy-led Venom trilogy. However, that doesn't mean that the movies were complete losses, as one of them has begun to find an audience on Max.
Per FlixPatrol, Kraven the Hunter is the No. 2 movie overall on Max, despite not being available to stream on the service in the United States. At the time of writing, per JustWatch, Kraven can only be streamed in the U.S. on Netflix. This major exclusion, however, makes Kraven's success all the more noteworthy, considering that almost nobody outside North America saw the Sony/Marvel movie when it was in theaters, with just $37 million of its total $62 million box office coming from international markets.
Directed by J.C. Chandor, Kraven the Hunter stars Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff, better known to Spider-Man fans as the fearsome, big-game hunter Kraven. The movie...

Acclaimed horror filmmaker Osgood Perkins continues to give audiences something completely different from what he’s done before with the arrival of the debut teaser for Keeper. However, it's not perhaps the teaser some may be expecting, as, in perfect Osgood Perkins fashion, Keeper is already kicking off a very unusual marketing campaign. A new livestream posted by Neon sees Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) staring at the camera and writing something in a seemingly endless loop, giving viewers an ominous taste of what's to come in the mysterious new project.
The film, which is due out later this year, is the latest in the filmmaker’s string of horror projects, and looks to deliver something from a completely different subgenre than what we saw in The Monkey and Longlegs. Starring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland (Orphan: First Kill), the movie follows a couple who travel to a remote cabin in the woods.

Osgood Perkins is becoming something of royalty in the horror category as the offspring of one of the most iconic names in the genre, plus carving out his own path with a directing career. Perkins is well established as a director, but his star rose further recently with the atmospheric serial killer film Longlegs and his latest dark comedy horror film The Monkey, which was based on a Stephen King story. Now, Perkins is being given the keys to the low-to-mid-budget horror kingdom as he signs a new deal with Neon and launches his own banner.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Perkins is now partnered with Neon on a first-look deal and he has launched Phobos — a new film banner that he will be running with his partner Chris Ferguson. Per THR, “Under the deal, Neon will serve as the home for Perkins’ projects, which he and Ferguson will produce.

Neon is moving up in the world (winning Best Picture twice will do that) and has formed its first ever first-look deal with a filmmaker. It’s fitting and perhaps unsurprising that it’s none other than “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” director Osgood Perkins.
As part of his new first-look deal, Perkins has also launched a production banner he’s calling Phobos. Alongside his partner Chris Ferguson, the projects that Perkins and Phobos produce for other filmmakers will be included in the first-look arrangement with Neon, as will any of the movies Perkins himself writes and directs. Are you ready for some football? The first look at Nicolas Cage as legendary NFL coach/commentator John Madden, alongside Christian Bale as Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, has hit the gridiron.
As seen in the picture (supplied by Deadline), Nicolas Cage’s John Madden and Christian Bale’s Al Davis are both flaunting Super Bowl rings. As Madden served as the Raiders’ head coach from 1969 – 1978, that would put this picture sometime after the team’s Super Bowl XI victory over the Minnesota Vikings. That would be Madden’s only Super Bowl win, although Davis would go on to win it again in 1981 and 1984 (after the Raiders moved to Los Angeles.

Amazon MGM has unveiled a first look at Christian Bale and Nicolas Cage in their respective roles as Raiders team owner Al Davis and head coach John Madden in its forthcoming biopic, Madden, which officially kicked off production on May 13. At first glance, the actors appear unrecognizable in the photo (seen below), courtesy of Deadline, as they both sport very different appearances, taking to the field as the two NFL legends for the film, which will celebrate the life and career of the titular football coach-turned-broadcaster.
The two actors are pictured side by side, with both men punching their fists out in front of them to show off their sparkling Super Bowl rings, which are awarded to winning teams at the annual sporting event to commemorate their victory. Bale is clean-shaven with his hair styled high and tight, just like Davis' signature quiff, which is quite far removed from the bushy-bearded,...

Christian Bale Is the Only Man Who Can Make Nicolas Cage’s Transformation For ‘Madden’ Look Ordinary

The world of NFL is about to go into a frenzy as the biographical sports drama on the late iconic legend John Madden, gears up to soon make a splash in the entertainment industry. Starring Christian Bale and Nicolas Cage as leading figures of the Raiders team, it might as well be one of the most anticipated sports flicks ever.
That said, the movie recently had its first-look image released, featuring both Bale and Cage’s transformation for the same, as Raiders’ team owner and head coach, respectively. But while it’s clear that both of them have done an epic job at it, many can’t help but remark that the former’s look to be better. Seems like only Bale can make Cage’s changeover look ordinary!

Elizabeth Olsen will co-star with Kristin Stewart and Oscar Isaac in Flesh Of The Gods, the new film from Mandy director Panos Cosmatos.
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe already know that Elizabeth Olsen can chart darker territory, with her Scarlet Witch character being the recipient of one of the gnarlier character trajectories in the film and TV franchise. The actor recently admitted that MCU movies aren’t the ‘kind of art’ that she consumes, though, even if she’s done a very fine job starring in them.
With the news (thanks Deadline) that Olsen is joining Panos Cosmatos’ upcoming vampire thriller, Flesh Of The Gods as the lead vampire, we’re guessing that she’s about to plum even darker depths. After all, Cosmatos is the director of Mandy, the unhinged Nicolas Cage revenge thriller that treated us to one of Cage’s wildest performances – and that’s saying something.

Who would have thought that it would come down to Nicolas Cage and his live-action version of Spider-Man Noir to save Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? While every other film from Sony has flopped (with the exception of the Spider-Verse films), fans are looking forward to the upcoming MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video series focused on Ben Reilly. Yes, Cage is suiting up in a trench coat, glowing eyes, and some serious 1930s sass in Spider-Noir, a new live-action series focused on the character, and Amazon just dropped the first teaser and images. Amazon made its second formal appearance at the upfronts in New York on Monday night, and once again, it pulled out all the stops.

World famous DJ Steve Aoki opened the show with over half an hour of blasting beats on behalf of Twitch, which was no doubt welcome by weary advertisers who had been making their way around the city to different network presentations since morning. With the first Ironheart teaser expected to be released tomorrow and Superman's trailer confirmed for Wednesday, it's shaping up to be a busy week for news.
