Horror Movie Legend Veronica Cartwright Returns to Her Hitchcockian Roots with ‘The Ruse’
Image
Over the course of a her 60-plus-year career, which began when she appeared as a child actor in director William Wyler‘s 1961 drama “The Children’s Hour” alongside Shirley MacLaine and Audrey Hepburn, Veronica Cartwright has, in addition to many other roles, starred in some of the most memorable horror films ever made. She worked with Alfred Hitchcock on “The Birds,” Ridley Scott on “Alien,” and Philip Kaufman on his terrifying remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” just to name a few.

Now, Cartwright has returned to the horror genre for writer/director Stevan Mena’s “The Ruse,” and in it she gives one of the best performances of her career as a dementia-afflicted musician whose home contains myriad mysteries for the young nurse (Madelyn Dundon) who has taken a job as her caregiver. As the nurse is terrorized by numerous unexplained occurrences, she tries to figure out if the house is haunted,...

When Chris Hemsworth Revealed That Ghostbusters Helped Him Reinvent Thor In The Marvel Universe
Image
Chris Hemsworth Shared Ghostbusters Experience For Thor ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Back in 2016, Chris Hemsworth took a detour from hammer-throwing superhero action to join an all-new kind of team. He signed on for Ghostbusters, the reboot of the iconic ’80s franchise, this time led by an all-female cast including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

Hemsworth wasn’t the main lead of the film, but he still had quite an intriguing character to play. He portrayed Kevin, the group’s dim-witted but lovable receptionist, and on the surface, it might’ve seemed like a step down for a Marvel star. But as it turns out, Ghostbusters taught Hemsworth something crucial, changing the way he approached acting.

In interviews with Esquire, Hemsworth has spoken openly about how much the Ghostbusters’ experience meant to him. For an actor who had been used to carefully sticking to the script, working with...

What Donald Trump Is Really After With Movie Tariffs
Image
When William Wyler was prepping Roman Holiday back in the the early 1950’s, he had the idea to shoot the movie in Italy, not on a studio backlot the way nearly all Hollywood films were in those days.

Paramount Pictures resisted, the Italian Ministry of Tourism resisted, pretty much everyone resisted. But Wyler insisted, and that’s how we have Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck tearing through the streets of Rome on a Vespa, among many Princess Ann iconic scenes.

Why in the name of the Piazza Navona am I bringing up a movie from nearly three-quarters of a century ago? Because it was in that moment and the moment of Quo Vadis just before it that modern global Hollywood was born. Shooting overseas slowly but surely became a regular thing for U.S. studios, first in Italy, then in England. By the 1990’s both the U.K. and Australia...

Could Phase 5 Be A Major Turning Point For MCU?
Image
Is Phase 5 set to bring Marvel back to the top? ( Photo Credit – Flickr )

Yeah, Marvel had actual chairs with actors’ names on them. I watched it. You probably did too. And as ridiculous as it sounded, more than five million people tuned in by the end. That’s not something a “dead franchise” pulls off.

Still, I couldn’t help but feel torn. Because as much as I loved seeing Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and even Channing Tatum’s Gambit teased for the next big crossover, I kept asking myself the same question: how did we get here? From Endgame to endless livestream gimmicks? If this was the MCU’s grand comeback, it felt more like a last-ditch nostalgia play than real momentum.

And let’s be honest—the signs were all there. The Marvels tanked harder than anyone expected. Secret Invasion butchered one of the most iconic Marvel comic arcs of all time.

Top 5 Highest-Grossing Hollywood Biopics That Ruled The Box Office
Image
Most successful Biographical movies or biopics? (Photo Credit – Instagram/Hotstar)

Biographical movies have been glorifying the lives of extraordinary individuals. Films, ranging from musical legends to political icons, have not only shed light to their unbearable struggles but also highlighted how they overcame all of them to become who they are today.

Over the decades, biopics have proven to be one of the most successful mantras in gaining attention from movie lovers and here are the top 5 highest-grossing biopics of all time, measured by their worldwide box-office revenue.

1. Oppenheimer (2023)- ($975M)

Well, it does not take a lot of time and effort to figure out which film takes the crown in the category, even if you are not a big Hollywood fan. The Christopher Nolan masterpiece, as name suggests, chronicles the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the infamous nuclear physicist who was the mastermind for creating the first nuclear bomb...

Which Billion-Dollar Hollywood Movie Was Made On The Lowest Budget?
Image
What’s the cheapest movie that slayed at the box office? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

There’s something inherently fascinating about a film that defies financial odds. Hollywood blockbusters usually never shy away from ballooning budgets, multi-million dollar CGI, and A-list paychecks. So when a movie crosses the coveted billion-dollar mark at the global box office, the assumption is almost always the same: they must have spent a fortune to make it. But not every record-breaking success was built on excess. Some relied more on clever storytelling, genre innovation, and pure fan power.

Among the many films that have made it into the elite billion-dollar club, a few stand out not for what they spent, but for what they didn’t. While modern franchises like Avengers or Fast & Furious are known for their towering costs, there’s one surprise entry that quietly made cinematic history by grossing ten figures on a comparatively modest investment.

Who Is The Richest Thunderbolts* Star? It’s Not Florence Pugh!
Image
Who is the top earner for Marvel’s Thunderbolts? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Fans may’ve expected big MCU names like Sebastian Stan or Florence Pugh to top the financial charts for the movie. But plot twist — it is Julia Louis-Dreyfus who quietly flexed the fattest bank account behind the scenes.

Yep, the comedic queen who played Valentina Allegra de Fontaine had a jaw-dropping net worth of $250 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). That number left her Thunderbolts co-stars trailing by miles. While she pulled strings in the shadows on screen, off-screen she ruled the paycheck leaderboard. Julia wasn’t new to commanding attention, she dominated sitcom royalty with Seinfeld, crushed awards with Veep, and later slid into the MCU with the same effortless power.

The rest of the cast? Not exactly broke, but nowhere close. Florence Pugh, known for flipping between emotional depth in Little Women and intense action in Black Widow,...

Top 4 Finale MCU Movies Ranked By Box Office Performances
Image
Top 4 finale Marvel moves ranked ( Photo Credit – X )

The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t just famous superheroes thrown together to pull fans. It is built on a structure. Each phase of the MCU has a clear arc, beginning with a spark and ending with a bang. These final entries aren’t just a story’s end. They’re the victory lap, the emotional payoff, and, often, the biggest swing. With Thunderbolts* positioned as the finale of Phase Five, all eyes are on how it performs, both narratively and financially. But before we measure its impact, let’s take a look back.

From The Avengers in Phase One to Wakanda Forever closing out Phase Four, each final film has played a unique role in how its phase was remembered. Some exploded at the box office and became cultural events. Others, while critically appreciated, didn’t soar quite as high in global earnings.

Final Destination: Did A Survivor’s Last-Minute Decision Inspire The Iconic Horror Franchise?
Image
Did a real tragedy inspire The Final Destination? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

What if skipping a flight could spark a billion-dollar horror franchise? That’s exactly what happened—sort of Final Destination, the now-iconic supernatural thriller, wasn’t just a twisted brainchild cooked up in Hollywood. It was inspired by a real-life story that still gives people goosebumps.

Jeffrey Reddick, the mastermind behind the franchise, looked back at how it all began during a promo chat for his movie Til Death Do Us Part (via Collider). While catching up with fans, Reddick dropped a fun little behind-the-scenes fact: Final Destination was born from an eerie article he read while flying home to Kentucky.

“I read an article about a woman who was on a flight… her mom told her not to take it because she had a bad feeling. She switched planes, and the one she was supposed to be on crashed,...

Were Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort & Severus Snape Related By Bloodlines? Here’s What We Think
Image
Exploring The Hidden Ties Of Harry Potter, Voldemort & Professor Snape! ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

The wizarding world of Harry Potter is filled with long bloodlines and ancient families. From the sacred pure-blood families to half-bloods and Muggle-borns, lineage matters greatly in this universe, sometimes far more than it should. While much of the focus in the story is on heroism and sacrifice, family connections are often quietly influential. The question of who’s related to whom isn’t just trivia; it can shape a character’s destiny.

This is especially true when it comes to three of the most important names in the saga: Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter, and Severus Snape. They represent the extremes of morality in the series: evil, innocence, and complexity. But their lives are more intertwined than most realize. It’s not just about shared history or circumstance; when you dig deep into their family trees,...

When Andrew Garfield Got Into A Golden Globes Scuffle Over The Social Network Drama? Here’s What We Know
Image
Andrew Garfield The Social Network (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Andrew Garfield once got a little too wrapped up in The Social Network, and it showed. The actor admitted he carried his character’s anger into a Golden Globes party weekend, leading to an “altercation” he still looks back on with a wince.

Garfield, who played Eduardo Saverin opposite Jesse Eisenberg’s Mark Zuckerberg, said filming The Social Network was an intense experience. Shooting kicked off in October 2009 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, under the sharp eye of director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. The movie traced the true story of how Saverin and Zuckerberg’s friendship cracked under the weight of Facebook’s rise and millions of dollars.

Working with Fincher meant countless takes, which Garfield said pushed him to deliver raw performances. In an interview with Collider, Andrew Garfield explained, “One of the things I understand about why he does that...

When Marilyn Monroe Lost Breakfast At Tiffany’s To Audrey Hepburn & Hollywood Was Never the Same
Image
What made Marilyn Monroe reject Breakfast At Tiffany’s? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Few cinematic pairings feel as fated as Audrey Hepburn and Holly Golightly. The little black dress, the cigarette holder and that early-morning bagel outside Tiffany’s have etched into pop culture like diamonds on glass.

But behind this picture-perfect casting lies one of Hollywood’s great almosts. Yes, a version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s where Marilyn Monroe, not Hepburn, steps into Holly’s stilettos. It’s the kind of what-if that keeps film lovers tossing and turning, imagining an entirely different tone through Blake Edwards’ 1961 adaptation.

Belly’s heart? It’s always been tangled up in Conrad. Always. But there’s also Jeremiah — her first kiss, her what-could-have-been, her maybe. Season 3 isn’t just a stroll down memory lane. 1989's Batman Was Nearly A Bizarrely Overcrowded Movie From A Classic James Bond Screenwriter
Image
1989's "Batman" made Tim Burton a box office hero, exposed mass audiences to a truly dark interpretation of the Dark Knight, and ensured Joker actor Jack Nicholson never ran out of money for the rest of his life. The movie was a major success, changing how Hollywood marketed blockbuster movies going forward and influencing every single superhero movie that came in its wake. Burton himself is a big part of why the movie worked as well as it did, holding fast to his artistic vision for the character even as Warner Bros. tried to steer him away from it at multiple turns. But we also wouldn't have that vision without Sam Hamm and Warren Skaaren's script, which contains some of the most memorable lines in superhero movie history, from Joker's "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" to Michael Keaton's legendary "I'm Batman."

Interestingly enough, that script took...

Conrad's jealous of Jeremiah in release date-revealing The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 poster
Image
It's almost time to say bye bye to Belly and all her friends when The Summer I Turned Pretty comes to an end later this summer. Prime Video already announced that season 3 of the hit teen drama series, which is based on the trilogy of novels by Jenny Han, would be the final season. Additionally, the streamer confirmed then release window for the swan song, but thanks to new poster worth a thousand words, we know exact when we can return to Cousins Beach this July.

Prime Video first released a poster for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 that featured only Lola Tung as Belly. Whereas past posters for the series had also included Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalengo as brothers Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, this time around, fans were swirling with ideas about why Belly was the only character on the poster. Would Han dare to change the...

20 Movie Classics That Still Hold Up (And Why)
Image
There’s always something magical about a classic movie that refuses to age. It feels like the filmmakers have found the fountain of youth while the rest of the world scrambles for anti-aging creams. These classics aren’t just “old” movies; they’re the truest cinematic time capsules that still feel fresh, exciting, and oddly relevant. Take Casablanca, does romance get any cooler than Humphrey Bogart’s effortless swagger? Or The Godfather, where every line could double as life advice.

And yes, of course, how can we forget Psycho, which is still making people second-guess their shower curtain choices decades later? Honestly, the beauty of these timeless classics lies in their ability to connect with every generation. We’ve got themes of love, fear, ambition, and triumph that never go out of style, and neither do unforgettable characters or sharp dialogue. Doesn’t watching Roman Holiday feel like a warm hug from an old friend,...

Shirley MacLaine Has a Major Career Regret With 1 Audrey Hepburn Movie Despite Trashing it Openly: ‘Didn’t think it was a very good script’
Image
At 90, Shirley MacLaine has an enormous career in film to look back on and be proud of. However, as is the case with most actors, there are films that the actress decided to skip out on for whatever reason. While there are no regrets there for the Terms of Endearment alum, there is one film that the actress sort of regretted not picking up.

In her book, The Wall of Life, MacLaine revealed that she was offered the role of Holly Golightly in the seminal 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, based on the novel by Truman Capote of the same name. Of course, that actress would turn it down, with the role going to Audrey Hepburn.

The screen legend who left Johnny Carson 'completely unnerved'
Image
Johnny Carson met just about every famous person he could during his 30-year run as Tonight Show host. Yet one screen legend threw Carson off so much that he never quite understood why.

Carson welcomed icons like Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Ronald Reagan, and Muhammed Ali. In his signature style, the Tonight Show host played it cool and kept the laughs coming as millions tuned in to watch his interviews.

But Carson admitted that one guest threw him for a loop. He told Betty White during a 1987 Tonight Show episode (via YouTube) that screen legend Audrey Hepburn "bothered" him.

“Strangely enough, the one time I got bothered on this show was with the one night Audrey Hepburn was on,” Carson said. “And I don’t know why.”

Carson continued, trying to find the right way to describe Hepburn's personality and why that may not have translated to a good late-night TV show guest.

Actors Who Won Oscars For Their First Movies
Image
Sometimes it takes ages for an actor to finally get their due -- they spend years grinding until they're considered to have waited long enough to earn themselves an Oscar (often for a bewilderingly subpar film that's far from their best work). But every once in a while, they end up knocking it out of the park and bowling over the Academy so thoroughly that they win an Oscar for their first feature film.

You see it more often with women, for whom writing -- until relatively recently -- tended to be stronger in younger roles and in supporting performances, but these first-time Oscars crop up for all different types of characters. And unfortunately, winning an Oscar for your first movie can be as much of a curse as it is a blessing -- after all, how can you possibly top that? Here are each and every actor who earned...

It’s Not Barbie 2, Ryan Gosling Is Reuniting With Margot Robbie for a Blockbuster Franchise

You probably thought the next time Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling would share screen time, it’d be in hot pink convertibles with more glitter than the plot. But surprise! This is not another Barbie movie. Instead, the two are sliding into tailored suits, vintage cars, and potentially, casino vaults, because they’re teaming up for a prequel to the Ocean’s Eleven franchise.

Yep, that Ocean’s Eleven. The one with all the suave criminal masterminding and jazz-heavy montages of people looking very serious while eating shrimp cocktails. Robert McGinnis, Creator of Iconic James Bond Posters, Dies at 99
Image
Painter and illustrator Robert E. McGinnis, who created sexy posters for the James Bond franchise as well as numerous other films, magazine illustrations and book covers, died March 10 in Old Greenwich, Conn. He was 99.

McGinnis, whose death was posted on Legacy.com, was known for his swinging sixties pin-up girl-style images of bikini-clad women consorting with manly men. Models including Shere Hite, author of “The Hite Report,” modeled for the idealized figure that became known as “The McGinnis Woman.”

His first movie poster was for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” featuring the illustration of Audrey Hepburn smoking a cigarette in a long holder with her cat wrapped around her neck. He used his wife and family cat as models. “You didn’t have to do much with her. She’s so perfect,” he reportedly said about Hepburn.

Inside ‘The Residence’: Uzo Aduba solves a murder in the ‘under-covered’ parts of the White House
Image
Netflix’s new murder-mystery series The Residence is loosely based on Kate Andersen Brower's historical book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, but its true inspiration was C-span. Creator Paul William Davies was watching a hearing on the network when he suddenly had an epiphany.

"The chief usher was testifying about some stuff in the White House and was describing the third floor and put up a map. And I thought, 'Oh wait, it's like a Clue board!'" Davies tells Gold Derby. "You know, the game room and the music room. I just was like, 'Oh, that's what I could do.' And that's a genre I've always loved, and I think secretly, even to myself, maybe always really wanted to give it a shot but never felt like I had an opportunity to. So I thought, 'Oh I can marry doing something that...

Prince Harry
Prince Harry dealt a major legal blow in his visa case
Prince Harry
Prince Harry has been dealt a major blow in his visa case — after a judge ruled previously private files can be made public.

It comes amid accusations that Harry may have lied about past drug use on his visa application form when moving to the US.

The US Department of Homeland Security now has until this Tuesday, March 18, to release three files after Judge Carl Nichols ruled they must be made public.

They will still contain some redactions, which he said were “appropriate.” A fourth file will remain private.

In recent months, intense speculation has focused on Prince Harry’s visa-related stay in the US. However, for privacy reasons, some of the details about the visa and his application for it have not previously been made public.

The ruling comes after the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, and Nile Gardiner, the foundation’s director, previously filed a lawsuit to...

'Voices Carry' Review: Don't Set Foot on the Lake
Image
Buried somewhere within the 90 stolid minutes of Abby Brenker and Ellyn Vander Wyden’s Voices Carry, there’s a decent Twilight Zone episode. Not from Rod Serling’s iconic original, mind you, but one of the long-forgotten reboots hosted by Forest Whittaker or Burgess Meredith. Voices Carry, which premiered at Cinequest 2025, takes a germ of an idea about generational trauma and then steadfastly refuses to develop it, preferring an M. Night Shyamalan-style approach that turns the screws so lightly and with so little technique that the ending — which felt like it was conceived first and everything else was written to get us there — generates neither sympathy nor catharsis.

Such a slow-moving and uninvolving story needs a star-making lead performance to keep us in the game. But top-billed Gia Crovatin, while holding the film together nicely as a suburban woman who uncovers centuries-old secrets while staying in her family’s lakeside cottage,...

“They Thought It Was Nuts, But I Had This Whole Thing Worked Out”: Nicolas Cage Kept A Dead Rat Prop With Him For 2 Weeks So He Could Improvise A Gross Scene In His 2025 Thriller
Image
The Surfer star Nicolas Cage reveals why he kept a dead rat prop in his pocket for two weeks while shooting the 2025 thriller movie. The latest film from cinema’s most prolific wild man stars him as a father returning to his childhood beach in Australia with his son, attempting to reconnect with his past, but being hounded by violent, territorial locals. Reviews of The Surfer have thus far been positive, with ScreenRant giving the thriller 3 stars.

One Surfer scene getting particular attention sees Cage disgustingly stuffing a dead rat into a man’s mouth during a fight, and according to Cage, pulling off that particular improvised moment required him to carry a dead rat prop around in his pocket for two weeks, raising questions among cast and crew. Cage also reveals the classic film that served as unlikely inspiration for his dead rat improv, describing a scene from Billy Wilder...

Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 15’s Psychic Murderous Murderess Should Have Worked But No One Could Have Foreseen This Episode Falling Flat
Image
As far as Elsbeth episodes go, this one wasn’t the most thrilling or all that interesting. To be fair, though, the show has swung big with some of its cases in the past.

One thing the show has managed to capitalize on is keeping every episode feeling fresh. Well, “I See … Murder” was a little past its “Use By” date, leaving a less-than-memorable experience.

That said, Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 15 still had a couple of standout moments that gave us a few fun moments. For one, this was another actual “murder mystery” where nothing made sense until the very end.

(Michael Parmelee/CBS)

Besides, without “I See … Murder,” how else would we know that there are “vigilante rat hunters” in NYC or that a psychic can charge you upwards of fifteen hundred dollars?

Not to mention the most important fact learned in this episode: Woodchucks don’t actually chop wood.

'Joke's On Them': Lady Gaga Speaks Out on Joker 2's 'Hurtful' Razzie Win in SNL Monologue
Image
Joker: Folie à Deuxis infamous for how much it underperformed upon release last year, bombing at the box office and garnering rather harsh reviews. It was even given several Golden Raspberry Award (Razzie), including Worst Sequel along with Worst Screen Combo for Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix.

On Saturday night's episode of Saturday Night Live, Gaga appeared to pull double duty as the show's host and musical guest. In her opening monologue, she took some time to address the Joker sequel coming up short. After sarcastically remarking that people thought the film was "awesome," she then suggested she was happy about her Razzie win, explaining that this will help make her an "Egort."

“I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor. Films such as Joker 2. Apparently, people thought it was awesome," she said. "Joaquin and I even got nominated for a Razzie,...

The 2025 Academy Awards came and went in a whirlwind, forging legacies for a slew of talents, though it’s the newcomers who galvanize the most intrigue with their ties to the golden statuette. Amid the night’s fervor, one victory stood out — a triumph that spotlights both a fresh face and a storied trope.

Mikey Madison, the 25-year-old dynamo from Anora, seized her first Oscar for Best Actress, outpacing The Substance’s Demi Moore in a twist few had prognosticated. The win, flanked by Anora’s haul of Best Picture, Director, and more, incentivized a floodlight on her nascent Hollywood path.

Maddison’s raw and unapologetic portrayal of the titular sex worker elucidated a character far from cliché, cementing her ascent with a cataclysmic bang. That win didn’t transpire without etching new stats...

The Best Dressed Stars at the 2025 Oscars
Image
The stars at the Oscars 2025 opted for maximum drama with their couture looks, their stylists having planned the best looks for last.

Trends quickly emerged on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, from pastel hues, such as the Dior gowns worn by Mikey Madison and Monica Barbaro, to high-drama sculptural gowns, notably the pink satin and tulle gown designed for Ariana Grande by Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry. At the other end of the spectrum, black gowns also ruled, including the black silk crepe Louis Vuitton gown worn by Ana de Armas, and Miley Cyrus’ custom high-neck McQueen gown. Squarely in the middle of that color palette, who made bold statements with red? Colman Domingo’s vivid Valentino suit stood out, as did Gal Gadot’s lush satin ballgown with side pleated, designed by Prada.

We narrowed the bevy of stylish stars down to 10 high-wattage favorites,...

Oscars Best Actress breakdown: Why Demi Moore is still the frontrunner in the final days
Image
Originally published Feb. 6, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Pt; updated Feb. 24, 2025, at 4:10 p.m. Pt

The Oscars race for Best Actress was wholly reset at the Golden Globes when self-described "popcorn actress" Demi Moore (The Substance) prevailed and delivered a speech that was award-worthy in its own right. Suddenly, there was a new Oscar frontrunner. But then Mikey Madison (Anora) fought back at BAFTA, beating the odds to claim a come-from-behind victory. Let's break down this year's Best Actress category, which also includes their fellow nominees Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), and Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here).

Frontrunner: Demi Moore

Moore's shocking victory at the Globes helped catapult her to the top of Gold Derby's Oscar odds for the first time, surpassing Madison, who had been the favorite to win since September. Not only was Moore's Golden Globe speech powerful in the moment, it also spoke more...

Luca Guadagnino at an event for I Am Love (2009)
American Psycho | Luca Guadagnino offers another update on his potential remake
Luca Guadagnino at an event for I Am Love (2009)
Director Luca Guadagnino says that his potential new take on American Psycho now has a fresh screenwriter on board. More here.

Luca Guadagnino is another of those filmmakers who seems have a constantly evolving slate of projects on the go. There’s his forthcoming take on grizzled WWII hero Sgt Rock, while others fall by the wayside: his Audrey Hepburn biopic and planned remake of Scarface being two that spring to mind.

One Guadagnino project that seemed like it might fall onto the filmmaker’s ‘rejected’ pile is a proposed adaptation of Brett Easton Ellis’ serial killer novel, American Psycho. The film already has one excellent cinematic interpretation – Mary Harron’s 2000 film, which starred Christian Bale as the title character. It prompts the question that often springs to mind when it comes to remakes: do we really need another? Especially when Harron’s film continues to find a new audience even 20 years later.
