Jena Malone was born in Reno, Nevada, raised in Sparks, Nevada; two cities that have merged together over time, to Deborah Malone and Edward Berge. Her grandfather owned a casino, Karl's Silver Club, in Reno. She was raised by her mother and her mother's partner. Beginning as a child actress, and then stepping up to roles as a young adult, Malone's career path has been compared to that of Jodie Foster, herself a former child actress and who has co-starred with Malone in two movies. Jena is often described as having a maturity beyond her years and, in her career thus far, she has often tackled roles that are difficult and are not standard fare for actors her age.
Malone's first claim to fame was in performing the title role in Bastard Out of Carolina (1996) for which she won the Young Artist Award, and which she filmed when she was merely ten years old. This movie dealt with issues of child abuse, violence and sex. Jena has said in later interviews that this movie and her participation in it continue to influence her life substantially.
Showing self-assurance and a clear vision of personal goals from an early age, Jena, at age 14, was encouraged to try out for Air Force One (1997), a movie that was virtually guaranteed to be a success since box-office king Harrison Ford was cast in the lead, but Jena said she'd prefer to seek other roles that were of more interest to her.
In the following years, Malone appeared in several made-for-TV movies for which she won or was nominated for many awards. In 1997, she lucked in to being cast in the blockbuster Contact (1997) where she portrayed the child version of Jodie Foster's lead character. Foster stated that she built her character by mimicking Jena. And, in 1998, Jena was cast in the major film Stepmom (1998) where she co-starred with Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris. Jena was given what was likely the best line in that movie where her character, bitter over her parents' divorce, confronts her father who has returned home briefly; at a moment of crisis, her dad tells her "You do NOT run out on your mother", and the rueful Malone exclaims "No -- that's YOUR job".
Also, in 1998, Malone appeared in a two-part episode of the critically acclaimed TV series Homicide: Life on the Street (1993). Contrary to what might usually be expected of a teenage actress, in this episode, Jena played the complex role of the perpetrator of a crime, which she portrayed with subtlety.
At age 15, Jena was legally emancipated and thus took direct control of her finances and her career. Malone began getting more attention and acclaim in her next set of films: the artistic cult film Donnie Darko (2001); the teenage journey The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002) where she again co-starred with Jodie Foster; and the satirical Saved! (2004) which debuted Jena as the lead in a movie.
Jena has expressed an interest in directing some day, and so she is preparing for roles behind the camera as well as in front. In 2002, she co-produced American Girl (2002) while also starring in it. And, in 2003, she undertook a formal study of photography.
In early 2006, Malone debuted on the Broadway stage in the play "Doubt". A review by Broadway.com characterized her performance as "astonishing".
Many people in Hollywood have jobs as actors. Watch for Jena Malone. She is an artist.- Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Bella Heathcote has emerged as one of Hollywood's most sought after talents. Australian actress Emily Browning was born in 1988 in Melbourne, Australia, to Shelley and Andrew Browning. She has two younger brothers. Her start in acting came after a classmate's father, involved in the acting business, noticed her "acting all ditsy" in a school play. Emily found an agent and was soon filming on location for the Hallmark TV-movie, The Echo of Thunder (1998). She received more roles from there, including parts in The Man Who Sued God (2001), opposite Billy Connolly, and Ned Kelly (2003), opposite Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom. In that film, she had to hug Heath Ledger, and she said that all of her friends, who went to see the film, at the same time sent her a barrage of text messages about how lucky she was! Emily says she tries to avoid "cheesy" movies, and her big break came when she was on a press tour in LA for Ghost Ship (2002), that was filmed in Australia and released in America. In the same year, she won an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Young Actress, and was nominated for the same award, the next year. Emily received some scripts when she was in LA and sent in a video audition for A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004). She received a call and was asked to come to LA for a proper audition, which won her the part. She spent months in LA filming, for the second time acting opposite Billy Connolly. Emily said she enjoyed the experience of making a big budget film in America, and says that although she's not sure what is coming next, she's hoping to do some more Australian work.- Actress

Born in Manhattan and raised in Los Angeles, Stephanie grew up swimming, riding, playing tennis, dancing, diving, clowning around, doing chores, and living the normal life of a tomboy in the great expanse of the San Fernando Valley. As a very young amateur theatrical entrepreneur, she produced, wrote, and directed pieces in her little bedroom hallway, in the stable, and on neighbors' fireplace hearths, earning her the title, "the boss".
But Stephanie's abiding love of theater was kindled at Brown Ledge Camp in Mallett's Bay, Vermont, where she acted, sang, and was nurtured in theater craft for six summers. Friends she made there count among her friends today.
Eager to get on with it, she created her own independent project in her senior year at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia: she returned to Los Angeles to study acting, movement, voice, tap and ballet. After graduating cum laude from high school, Stephanie's ambitions led her to choose a professional drama school over university, and she spent a challenging time in New York "getting a dose of it".
Returning to Los Angeles once again, she worked for her brother and sister-in-law's company, "Correia Art Glass", while she made the audition rounds. In time, she gave up packing glass to star in television movies, among them the Emmy Award-winning The Gathering (1977), Centennial (1978), The Golden Moment: An Olympic Love Story (1980) and Tomorrow's Child (1982), along with the occasional guest series role. After several such projects and two feature films - The Magic of Lassie (1978), with James Stewart, and The Awakening (1980), with Charlton Heston - Stephanie was offered the role of "Laura Holt" in the MTM series, Remington Steele (1982), which she played for five years with Pierce Brosnan and Doris Roberts on NBC. She appeared as Caroline? (1990) for Hallmark on CBS, which won three Emmys and earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Subsequently, Stephanie starred in The Story Lady (1991) with Jessica Tandy, Incident in a Small Town (1994) for CBS with Walter Matthau and Harry Morgan, and Stop the World, I Want to Get Off (1996), the musical, on A&E, to name a few of her more than thirty television movie appearances.
Stephanie starred in Lifetime Television's 50th movie, Prison of Secrets (1997), followed by an episode of Touched by an Angel (1994), their highest-rated show to that date. She was happy to be back in the saddle, in Ventura and Ojai, no less, filming an independent movie with Dennis Hopper called The Prophet's Game (2000), followed by Borderline Normal (2001) in Saskatchewan, Malpractice (2001) in New Orleans, and another Touched by an Angel (1994). More recently, she spent a happy time guesting on Crossing Jordan (2001).
Striving for excellence has always been very important to Stephanie, partly due to the standards set by her illustrious family. Alma Gluck, her grandmother, was one of the great sopranos of her day. Efrem Zimbalist Sr., her beloved grandfather, was a celebrated violinist, composer, and gifted teacher and director of the Curtis Institute of Music. Her aunt, Marcia Davenport, was a brilliant historical writer and novelist. Her wonderful father, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., is a prize-winning Broadway producer (Gian Carlo Menotti's "The Consul", "The Medium" and "The Telephone"), gifted composer, and celebrated actor (77 Sunset Strip (1958), The F.B.I. (1965), and many movies). His stunning "Violin Sonata" has been performed at several summer concert series. Her brother Efrem ("Skip") and his company, "Active Interest Media", publish several magazines.
After debuting on stage in the musical "Festival" in 1979 at the Las Palmas Theater in Los Angeles with Gregory Harrison and Brian Stokes Mitchell, Stephanie appeared as "Miranda" in "The Tempest" with Anthony Hopkins and Brent Carver at the Mark Taper Forum. Other theater includes "The Cherry Orchard" at the Long Wharf Theater, "Summer and Smoke" and "Barbarians" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and the national tour of "My One And Only" with Tommy Tune. In 1989, she initiated a play to be written for her and Linda Purl, and directed by Jenny Sullivan - "The Baby Dance" by Jane Anderson - which they produced and starred in at the Pasadena Playhouse. The production moved to Williamstown and Long Wharf, and culminated in a critically-acclaimed run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York City. She played "Polly Peacham" in "The Threepenny Opera" with Betty Buckley at Williamstown, and had a wonderful time with "Tracy Lord" in "The Philadelphia Story" at the Cleveland PlayHouse. In 1994, Stephanie took on the double roles of an Irish peasant and a New Bedford fisherman's wife in the original production of "The Crimson Thread" in Connecticut (which she co-produced), and the Pasadena Playhouse. A second tread on the L.A. boards under Jenny Sullivan's direction was the hilarious, tour de force turn as a nail-spitting media barracuda in the West Coast premiere of "AdWars" with the wonderful David Dukes (R.I.P.).
At L.A.'s Coronet Theater for many months, Stephanie kicked up a lot of sand as the lovable dog in A.R. Gurney's "Sylvia". In 1998, she starred in the world premiere of Jane Martin's "Mr. Bundy" at the Humana Festival of Actors Theatre of Louisville, and happily played opposite Lucie Arnaz in "Wonderful Town" for the Reprise! series in L.A. Stephanie was thrilled to be reunited with her dear "Baby Dance" friends, John Bennett Perry and Jenny Sullivan for the Rubicon Theatre's award-winning, double run of "The Rainmaker". A dream came true, tackling the towering role of "Terry" in Warren Leight's knockout "Side Man" at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, followed by a tour of "Accomplice" on the east coast (after a month's holiday in London, St. Petersberg, Moscow, Rostov [birthplace of her grandfather, Efrem Zimbalist Sr.], Istanbul, Athens, and sailing the Dodecanes!). For several springs now, Stephanie has opened the Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival with a reading of one of his plays at their Gala event - she's happily shared those boards with Alec Baldwin, Elizabeth Ashley, John Goodman, Patricia Neal, Linda Hart, and the charming Rex Reed. Having worked in New Orleans with the Festival and in Malpractice (2001) and made friends in Nola, the recent tragedies there hit especially hard.
Stephanie had another dream come true, to play "Varya" in "The Cherry Orchard", with the added thrill of playing opposite one of her acting heroes, the amazing and delightful Alfred Molina. Recently, she played "Ursula" in Nicholas Wright's wonderful play, "Vincent in Brixton", at the Pasadena Playhouse. Also at the Rubicon Theatre, she's played in Brian Friel's "Dancing at Lughnasa", Jane Anderson's "Defying Gravity", and trod the boards with her father, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., for the first time, in Tennessee Williams's "The Night of the Iguana".- Actress

Jill Viola Gascoine was born in Lambeth, London, on April 11 1937. She was educated at Tiffin's Girls School (by her own account, a traumatic experience) and later studied at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts in London. She began her career as a fifteen-year old chorine in pantomime and spent a decade-long apprenticeship singing and dancing in revues and musicals. Married at 28, her first husband was a compulsive gambler who also resented her ambition of becoming an actress and abandoned her and her two children some time during the late 60s. Having to support her family on a single income, Gascoine found work in Glasgow cabaret as a singer and dancer. She was eventually able to get into acting with a repertory company in Dundee and from there (with the aid of theatrical agent Marina Martin) landed parts in popular television dramas including Dr. Finlay's Casebook (1962), Dixon of Dock Green (1955), Softly Softly: Task Force (1969) and Raffles (1975).
Her first recurring TV role was as Letty, the prim, philanthropically-minded wife of taciturn sea captain James Onedin (Peter Gilmore) in The Onedin Line (1971). However, she ultimately became best-known for her role as the emancipated, forthright DI Maggie Forbes in the ITV series The Gentle Touch (1980), the very first British police drama featuring a female (senior) police officer. The concept may well have been inspired by the earlier American series Police Woman (1974). Publicity claimed that London 'bobbies' wrote to the producers of Gentle Touch, attesting to its authenticity (interesting footnote: the reason why there was never any footage of Maggie actually driving a car was that Gascoine had never learned to drive). There was a later, more action-oriented spin-off, entitled C.A.T.S. Eyes (1985) (akin to a British Charlie's Angels (1976)), with Maggie turned private eye.
In addition to her television work, the actress also performed on the West End stage, including a starring role as Dorothy Brock in a 1987 revival of the musical 42nd Street at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Her younger co-star (as Peggy Sawyer) was Catherine Zeta-Jones. In 1986, Gascoine married fellow London-born actor Alfred Molina and in the 90s made her home in Los Angeles, though she returned to the U.K. on a number of occasions. As her screen work began to wind down, she turned to writing, publishing a trio of novels, respectively, in 1995, 1995 and 1997. Gascoine made an appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2008, whereupon she announced her retirement from acting. Five years later, it was revealed that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. She died at a Los Angeles care facility on 28 April 2020 at the age of 83.- Natasha Liu Bordizzo is an Australian actress.

Radha Mitchell (born 12 November 1973) is an Australian actress. She started her career acting in various Australian TV series and movies, and later became known for her appearance in Hollywood films. Mitchell, a native of Melbourne, began acting when she was still in high school and had her professional debut on the popular Australian soap, Neighbours (1985) in 1994. Two years later, she made her film debut in the romantic comedy Love and Other Catastrophes (1996), in which she starred as a college student experiencing a messy breakup. The film proved to be fairly popular in Australia, but it wasn't until she was cast in High Art (1998) that Mitchell gained an introduction to a wider audience. The critical success of "High Art" made it possible for her to do more international work, and her increasing popularity was reflected by her subsequent casting in a number of projects. Among them were Pitch Black (2000), a sci-fi horror film in which Mitchell played a pilot whose ship crashes on a hostile planet, and Everything Put Together (2000), a drama where she plays a suburban woman shunned by her peers after the death of her baby. Her career continued with a diverse run of films, including Nobody's Baby (2001), Man on Fire (2004), Finding Neverland (2004), and landing the lead in Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda (2004). Those last three films all hit the screens in 2004, and although kept working steadily, she never quite capitalized on the buzz she generated that year. Her other credits include Silent Hill (2006), Henry Poole Is Here (2008), Surrogates (2009) and The Crazies (2010).- Actor
