- DirectorPaul PoetStarsChristoph SchlingensiefMatthias LilienthalRainer LauxFOREIGNERS OUT! SCHLINGENSIEFS CONTAINER is a thrilling, insightful, funny chronicle and reflection of one of he biggest public pranks and acts of art terrorism ever committed. Austria 2000: Right after the FPÖ under Jörg Haider had become part of the government, the first time an extreme right wing party became state officials after WW2, infamous German shock director Christoph Schlingensief showed a very unique form of protest. Realising public xenophobia and the new hate politics in the most drastic ways possible, he installed a public concentration camp right in the middle of Vienna's touristic heart, right beside the picturesque opera where hundreds of tourists and locals pass by daily. And it was no concentration camp you had ever feared to return from the old times, but one that cynically reflected our new multimedia culture. Satirising reality TV shows, "Big Brother" especially, a dozen asylum seekers were surveilled by a multitude of cameras, could be fed and watched by passer-by's and two were thrown out of the country through web-voting. The way fascism looks in the 21st century: Bright. Sensational. Interactive. Funny - and frightening. Austria freaked out. Thousands of screaming people gathered. Attacks with knifes, beatings, acid occurred. Political intrigues. Headlines all over Europe. 800,000 worldwide joined via internet. An incredibly heated week, capturing the European right-wing drift in real time. Democracy the hard way.9

- DirectorChristian KroenesFlorian WeigensamerModern football has long become the epitome of globalization. This is quite a different story of football - far away from the great sporting arenas. It portrays a society in which everything literally revolves around the football. In the course of the 20Th century - Sialkot - a remote Pakistan city rose to become the secret capital of the football world. The future, however, looks bleak. Automated production techniques in China became keen competition. Sialkot is about to lose ground in the war of position at the very end of the global value chain. People are portrayed whose daily life is ruled by football in a very different way - and although their individual fates may differ greatly, they all share the same economic and social dependency. The effects of structural change on a global level are highlighted within a single setting.9

- DirectorRobert FischerStarsRainer Werner FassbinderWim WendersFrédérique MichelThough he never actually worked in Hollywood, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who died in 1982 at the age of 36, was influenced greatly by Amercian studio films of the 1950s and the convention of melodrama (the link most often mentioned is Douglas Sirk). With actor-turned-filmmaker Ulli Lommel as host and guide (he appeared in Fassbinder's very first feature, Love Is Colder Than Death, in 1969), documentary filmmaker Robert Fischer conducts a tour of Hollywood today, pausing to chat with cinematographer Michael Ballhaus and actress Hanna Schygulla # both charter members of Fassbinder's tight-knit stock company of technicians and players # as well as Wim Wenders, who found the toehold in the studio system that Fassbinder never had. The proceedings are liberally sprinkled with clips from Fassbinder's films, as well as glimpses of a theater company in Los Angeles that specializes in performing the director's plays. As Fischer makes clear, Fassbinder's influence on Hollywood is not only still being felt today, but is gathering a dramatic force that will serve to introduce his oeuvre to a new generation of moviegoers.7

For almost 100 years comic books have provided fantasy, escape, and compensation for adolescents who often feel powerless and misunderstood in their daily lives. Fantasies of power are inevitably violent, but the violence in comic books has no consequences. After all, it's just the stroke of a pen... But what happens when the comic book meets real war? In this age of hundreds of television stations, 24-hour news, worldwide instantaneous satellite transmission and thousands of web sites updated hourly, the lowly comic book has become a documentary medium, providing a real understanding of the human dimensions of war, genocide and revolution. - DirectorMathias HaentjesNina KoshoferThe tide for the German Army turned between November 1942 and March 1943. The American landing in North Africa and the German defeat at Stalingrad undermined the belief in the invincibility of the Nazis. The atmosphere of those days is sketched in interviews with eyewitnesses from eight European countries (e.g. a philosopher, journalist, author, psychologist), in excerpts from diaries (the 14 year old Shoah victim Ruth Laskier, the journalist Ursula von Kardorff from Berlin), letters (Resistance hero Sophie Scholl), notes (Swiss consul von Weiss) and archive materials, mostly from (uncensored) amateurs.

Since then, the bankers on Wall Street have been fighting by with all available means to avoid going to court. This film is the story of that trial. A film about a trial that may never be held but in which the facts, the participants and their testimonies are all real: the judge, lawyers, witnesses, even the members of the jury - asked to give their verdict - play their own roles. Step by step, one witness after another, the film takes apart, from a plain, human perspective, the mechanisms of subprime mortgage loans, a system that sent the world economy reeling. A trial for the sake of example, a universal fable about capitalism.
