- Fragmentations is the story of two sisters, Catalina (14 years old) and Amalia (6 years old), whose mother returns to the country during summer to take Amalia with her to Italy, where she and their father have been working and living for four years. Catalina, the elder daughter, is going to stay in the country and move from the village where she and her sister have been raised by their grandmother into the city, when high school starts. The story is told by Amalia, who is now at Catalina's age; she reminisces the last summer spent with Catalina while trying to accept why she did not see as a six years old child the signs which led to Catalina's suicide.
