- In a dark fantasy world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) and George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire), the player is a Tarnished who is called back to the Lands Between to restore the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.

However, the competition provides endless opportunities for the Ravens, mercenaries who exist independently of the corporations. You, the protagonist, pilot an armored core (AC), which is a giant mecha robot.
- Ten years after the National Dismantlement War, the planet has become extremely polluted and is falling apart at the seams. "The League", a organization of corporations, have decided to build the "Cradle System" high above the Earth in order to protect civilians, but the system running the habitats only make things worse down below on the surface. Using these platforms, they run the planet below using a high-tech army to dominate and control. Hearing of this, a group of surface dwellers form the rebel group called "The Line Ark" attack the "The League" in an attempt to bring order out of chaos. In this another mysterious faction called the "ORCA" has surfaced, their motives unknown to both sides.
- Set in Heian-era Kyoto, Japan. The game follows three different protagonists as they explore a feudal Japanese manor at night, as well as an old mountainside temple.
- The game is set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic war in which the Resistance is engaged in an all out war against the so-called "FATHER" and his Corporation. Gameplay and story are featured differently from all the other games in the Armored Core series. Each mission in the story contains voice-over narration that depicts the history involving the events in Armored Core V and how the player character and his group approaches every situation. The in-game environments of the story missions are based in war torn cities, harbors, deserted ancient facilities, and post-apocalyptic wasteland.
- A Raven operating out of Isaac City receives an unusual request. Not only is the request both vague and cryptic, stating simply: "Infiltrate the underground urban complex, Amber Crown,", but it also bypasses normal channels of communication and is sent directly to the Raven in question, without anyone else seeing the message. No sender name or corporate affiliation is mentioned, but the monetary reward promised is massive. Because of the amount, the mission will obviously be intensely dangerous, but Ravens aren't the type to shy away from any challenge. With interest piqued, the Raven climbs into the AC and heads toward Amber Crown.
- Sixty-seven years after the events of the Subterranean Era in prior games, Earth's second largest corporation, Zio Matrix, acquires plans for a research project on Mars, dating back before the Great Destruction. Using these plans, Zio sends a research team to Mars to begin the Terraforming Project, which causes the Martian surface and atmosphere to approximate that of Earth. Other corporations learn of the project and quickly follow Zio Matrix, bringing with them the competitive environment that existed on Earth, and the employ of the mercenaries of Nerves Concord. As the three companies' war comes to a close, the most powerful, Zio Matrix, attempts a coup against the government, which has regained control through its elite mercenary team, The Frighteners, led by Leos Klein. But in the chaos that ensues, the Frighteners turn on the government, assassinate the new leader of the LCC, and take control of powerful Disorder technology. The player character is tasked with confronting them and saving the human populace of Mars.
- Atsuma, Makoto, and Toya are students at the Enchanter's University in Yokohama City. At the university, they study to become enchanters, while learning about topics such as the man-made golems that populate the world. Although powerful self-aware golems fought each other and laid waste to the land 1000 years ago during the Golem Wars, golems in the modern era serve mankind. One day, while the three are skipping class to attend a local festival, an apparent earthquake occurs. Additionally, the golems in the area appear to have gone berserk and are now attacking people. Rushing back to the university, the three find that things are in chaos, and that the mysterious sealed ward had been opened. While seeking to discover what has happened, the trio meet up with the Queen of Ice, a golem sealed long ago, and thus begins the main tale of Enchanted Arms.
- Verdict Day is set around 100 years after the events of Armored Core V. Following The Raven's victory over Exusia, the contamination that isolated humanity had begun to subside, allowing humans to return to more of the world. The discovery of high-tech Towers, once hidden by the contamination, ignited a new war--known as the Verdict War--between several different factions. Adding to the conflict is a mysterious group known as the Reaper Squad, as well as the usage of Unmanned Armored Cores called UNACs. The game follows the story of an unnamed AC pilot, generally indicated as The Raven, who accepts assignments on behalf of various factions, encountering numerous mercenaries in battle, before entering into conflict with the Reaper Squad and the Foundation.
- As a spirit in a secluded boarding school, the player must prove its existence and build a unique bond with the students as the world is uncovered through discovery and exploration. As the mystery of the story unfolds, the spirit must travel in time to change the fate of the pupils.
