- The life and love story of Argentina's famous tango dancers Maria Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes, who met as teenagers and danced together for nearly fifty years until a painful separation tore them apart.
- During a stopover in Buenos Aires on her way to Chile, 31-year-old Maria recognizes a nursery rhyme. Maria doesn't speak a work of Spanish, but without understanding what she is singing, she remembers the Spanish lyrics. Disturbed and thrown off course, she decides to interrupt her journey and wander through the unfamiliar city. On the phone to Germany, she tells her father, Anton, about her experience and the peculiar fascination the unfamiliar city has had for her. Two days later, Anton suddenly turns up at Maria's hotel with something to confess: Maria spent the first three years of her life in Buenos Aires during the military dictatorship at the end of the 1970s. The people she had always thought were her parents had adopted her and brought her to Germany. Father and daughter begin a journey in search of Maria's biological parents. Anton does everything he can not to lose his daughter.
- Punk musician Carlos decides to set out to find out about his family history when his adoptive father Genaro dies. He leaves Buenos Aires with the bandoneon of Genaro as his only company and sets out for Los Angeles, a wind-shaken village in the middle of nowhere of the Argentinian pampa. After some troublesome quest, he finds there not only the secret of his origin, but also the love of this life and his own tune, which combines his past as punk drummer with the traditional elements borrowed from cumbias, chamamés, and criollo valses.
- Argentina's economic crisis is in full swing when Lito and Nilda travel to New York. Visiting "The Big Apple" is Nilda's lifelong dream and Lito, her husband, submissively complies. She also plans to have a medical check up during their visit. But once in New York and despite Lito's warning, Nilda neglects her diet and has to be hospitalized. Lito is overwhelmed. On his own and penniless, he experiences a different side of New York. While his life in New York freezes, his ice factory in Buenos Aires melts. (Chicago 23rd Latino Film Festival Website)
