It is reported that in the age of modern warfare nine out of ten casualties...are civilian. In 1999 a group of individuals sought to establish a memorial to these losses. They took up a 33 day, 500 mile journey to Washington DC, pulling a two thousand granite stone with the words inscribed "Unknown Civilians Killed in War" with the goal of having it placed in Arlington National Cemetery.
