The episode has other beings coming to earth to offer humans a deal it's like problems will go away only things appear to start to work and be okay. Slowly humans try to understand this new race only things allude them, things are not what they seem most memorable is the appearance of "Kanamit" the head leader or top alien! Overall well done episode that was a story that seemed ahead of it's time.
Thru it all the doubt and uncertainy builds up in the episode as you ask are they more "UFO's?" but what only this woman decides to do is take matters into her own hands as she prefers to stay alone. Well done it proves that you are never really alone and this tale was a super one for drama and suspense build up and the acting was a good character study.
It involves Martin Sloan(Gig Young) a busy VP of a company who decides to return and revisit his old hometown called Homewood, only after getting gas one day when he walks the short distance to his old haunts he discovers that things have stayed in the past! Martin even sees his self as a young boy and meets his mom and dad! Still despite the revisit it's just not in the cards for Martin to stay in the past. Overall good episode of emotions as it proves memories are touching and it's nice for one to go back to their old life and see the past.
The scenes are tense and heart pounding often gripping with tension as the gear shifts on the lane, yet things also shift in life for industry and the characters involved. As showcased are the power struggles and corporate problems of industry like greed and doubt however when the Ford GT is developed it breaks the company free to win around the curb of the tracks!
Most compelling and interesting is seeing the friendship form between car designer Carroll Shelby(Matt Damon) and hotshot race driver Ken Miles(Christian Bale) as despite the drama and thrill of the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1966 a bond and lasting and listening friendship is formed between the polar opposites! Overall good touching film of showing how fast speed won over many with love and friendship the film was really paced well and mixed with fun and drama for a near perfect finish lap!
Eve Fletcher(in a good turn from Kathryn Hahn) is a woman who by day takes care of the elderly then by night and other times at home her teen and pretty boy son Brendan(Jackson White) has ruled the kingdom only once he goes away to become a big man on campus Mom is faced with plenty of worry and emptiness. As only some drinks with girlfriends can ease the pain.
However after a search engine sheds new light for Eve her focus is taking care of and loving her own self for the first time in many years! Call it internet porn or whatever this makes this single divorced mom happy she's a okay! And many scenes push the limit even for "HBO" as her daydreams of sex and moments masturbating with cookies are blunt and open! Plus the nipple and bush scenes of her are revealing and expressive.
Some wild card moments and subplots are the life of Brendan while away at college as he sees an open whole new world with different views and attitudes which challenge his mind and life. Also to help Eve get thru life she joins a writing class taught by a transgender instructor, and it's in the class that Eve meets a 19 year old named Julian(Owen Teague) who has a crush on her!
Really in this series you see the emotions of a middle aged woman who at her midlife starts to spice things up and have fun for herself by exploring new methods of pleasure and good physical feel thru isolation as she pushes herself for new liberation and freedom for herself. This series may not be everyone's cup of tea, still give it a watch for it's brash laughs and open feel of pleasure and intimate freedom which rescues a lonely middle age woman at mid life.
Roman Griffin Davis is Jojo a little boy who wants to train to be in Hitler's army only he already has the evil ruler as his imaginary friend. Things then become turned upside down when his finds and his mother(Scarlett Johansson) reveals that she is keeping a young Jewish girl hidden upstairs! It's like it's a whole new world. Only the film explores tolerance, pain, and love in a new light.
Overall good comedy like drama that's fun with change and human feel proving that all people deep down are just alike.
Many scenes show deep matters like the revealing fact that from a young age Sal was attracted to boys which lead him to be gay. Along the way power struggles with men and one of Sal's lead actors on a critical film classic challenge his state of mind as problems of the mind start to set in. As with age it's clear the prime has past will he ever work again? As life has become a challenge with many many health problems from digestive issues, to back and bone problems. It goes to show how life and health often declines with age.
Only the memories and passion stills burns for life despite addiction as Salvador has even picked up a heroin problem. Really this film is a great reflection to show how a life was shaped while showing the glory and pain that comes with success and the ups and downs of life and love. Still most important of it all is the memories as both the memories of pain and glory will always be lasting things.
The first tale "Skincrawlers" is a modern tale of wanting to look good, thin and beautiful as in today's culture that's the thing, however like anything else it comes at a high cost. A young hotshot doctor has a new method for weight loss, however it's sticky and a little bit of a blood sucker once the procedure goes inside the stomach. This procedure backfires and the one's who took treatment await a gross and bloody sucked up death! A real shocking twisted tale!
Then "By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain" is set upstate in the area of where the legendary sea creature "Champ" is set to roam. A family who often goes by the lake has memories of sightings as once dad has passed the feelings of the monster becomes stronger only upon the next visit "Champ" comes out to help and so nice as the daughter gets rid of mother's new boyfriend! Overall two good tales with gore, twist, revenge, that was a treat for any horror fan.
As for the eye candy and the tease loved it when Beverly(Julie Brown) does that strip off dance nude scene as her little sister and the killers watch her undress thru a perverted peep hole(and miss Brown looked so hot and sexy in that red colored bra!).
Check this out if you like the horror slasher genre of 80's movies it features the common blood, gore, and skin that was so common of it's day and time.
Based on a novel from 1869 from Victor Hugo it tells the tale of a noble who would not kiss up or obey King James II therefore his son is taken away and for punishment has a surgically disfigured smile like grin carved across his face! That man is Gwynplaine(Conrad Veidt) who later with his difference and odd face becomes a sideshow freak show performer. This and his meeting of a blind girl named Dea is his only cure for being lonely as only she can feel his gentle nature. This picture is full of doubt and tension from love and difference really for it's day and time so good on many levels.
And if you know movie history and pop culture stories you know that this picture helped inspire D.C. comics for the ideal of the "Clown Prince of Crime" the one and only "Joker" as the grin and smile were to good to turn away for a creation. Overall well done silent film that's important and historical.
First tale called "Night of the Paw" involves a funeral director(Bruce Davidson) who's lonely and grief stricken over his dead wife and when a criminal and sexy hit woman(oh she was so sexy love her in that black bra!) makes her way into his home things start to spin and takes turns in this tale. However a mysterious hand comes into play and does it's work for justice!
The next tale is just a turn for fairness and justice as the corrupt finally get what's coming to them the story "Times is Tough in Musky Holler" involves a rural small country town, and how the dead and some honest people have taken matters of justice and punishment into their own hands against the crooked Mayor and bad cops and local gossip girls and shady preachers! So it's time for these bad folks to pay up with flesh!
Overall again well done and good episode of the "Shudder" series as it shows gore, blood and revenge as the bad people get what they deserved with justice being served!
