The Fear Footage (2018)
Mediocre
Fear Footage was part of the Hole in The Head film festival which I decided to take part in as it's less than 4 miles from my house. I'm passionate about horror and some of the films looked interesting, among them was this which I'd read some very positive reviews of on some of the less known horror sites online.
It tells the story of a police officer who goes missing and the found footage is from his body camera. I tend to find these movies atmospheric but tend to lack originality especially the ones where they're ghost hunters visiting some asylum or supposedly haunted house. This one is no different and oozes atmosphere which I certainly was happy about and a little bit surprised from a first time film maker. It's an anthology, it's minimal on cast and very evidently on budget as well.
When the credits rolled I was underwhelmed, it's not the most terrible of films as I've seen a lot worse this year let alone ever but it simply isn't very good. I can't nail down exactly why, I suppose it was a little bit boring, there was nothing in those 70 minutes that I hadn't seen before and it was just so un-horrific I suppose.
Not awful but certainly not very good.
