There was sadly nothing exciting about this movie. It was pretty bland and blah. Lack of chemistry and I didn't feel invested at all.
Lonely Planet on Netflix was a letdown, earning a 3/10 in my book. While the cinematography is undeniably beautiful, showcasing breathtaking landscapes from around the world, the film falls short in nearly every other aspect. The plot is painfully slow, dragging on without much substance or emotional payoff. The main character's journey feels hollow, with little character development to keep viewers invested. The movie tries to be deep and introspective, but it ends up feeling predictable and cliché in its exploration of loneliness and relationships.
Despite some solid visuals and a decent soundtrack, Lonely Planet ultimately lacks the energy or emotional engagement to make it memorable. The dialogue is uninspired, and the storyline meanders without much direction or purpose. By the end, it felt like a missed opportunity-more style than substance. If you're hoping for a film that makes a meaningful impact, this one may leave you bored and disappointed.

Will I ever rewatch? No. Was it entertaining for an afternoon? Absolutely.
Since I'm required to write more for the review to actually be published I'll go ahead and say I liked the filming style, costume choices, and acting. I thought all of it was especially good for a Netflix movie.
What I didn't like is that it is easily 15 minutes too long. There's some fluff that should have been on the cutting room floor, but maybe that's just me.
Once again, I'm never going to rewatch it, but it was great entertainment for an afternoon and that was really all I wanted out of it.
Just wasting characters now....

Way to bring back the magic AND up the game with Maya Rudolph. The villain song is the best of the movie and very memorable, while some of the other musical numbers didn't stand out to me as much. I'll be watching it again!
Is this movie objectively good? Some people might say "no" but it does add very fun spins on original fairytale lore with a lot of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout. I enjoyed the ride that's for sure. Amy Adams absolutely crushed it, so fun to see her acting range throughout the movie! And James Marsden... what a gem. He came back ready to win everyone over all over again and it was truly magical.
