Great end to the franchise
21 September 2019
Despite some generic elements, Rambo: Last Blood is a great end to the Rambo franchise. Sylvester Stallone gives an incredible lead performance. The action is extremely enjoyable and the pacing is really good. Adrian Grunberg's direction is also really good and the musical score by Tyler Bates is great. There's also some surprisingly emotional moments.

Incredible true story crime drama
13 September 2019
Despite the familiar narrative, Hustlers is an incredible true story crime drama that's stylish, gripping and funny. Constance Wu gives an incredible lead performance, Jennifer Lopez gives the best performance of her career, and their chemistry is amazing. Lorene Scafaria's direction is incredible and it's extremely well filmed. The pacing is great and the soundtrack is fantastic.

Great collection of short stories
12 September 2019
Cat's Eye is a great collection of short stories that despite failing to be scary, is still a lot of fun. It's weird, surreal and extremely funny. Each of the three short stories are unique and original and explore some very creepy things. It's well paced with great direction from Lewis Teague. All the performances are really good but James Woods and Drew Barrymore are especially great. The music by Alan Silvestri is amazing.

Incredibly original
11 September 2019
Brigsby Bear is an incredibly unique, bold and original film that's well paced, consistently funny, heartwarming and emotional. It's also a beautiful love letter to cinema itself and a lovely film about acceptance and friendship. Kyle Mooney gives an incredible lead performance. Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, Matt Walsh, Michaela Watkins and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. all give great supporting performances. Andy Samberg is also really good in his small part. Dave McCary's direction is fantastic and it's extremely well filmed. Also, the music by David Wingo is amazing.

Incredible war movie
10 September 2019
Full Metal Jacket tackles familiar themes but is still an incredible war movie that's darkly comedic, intense, emotional and harrowing. Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio, Adam Baldwin and Arliss Howard all give incredible performances. R. Lee Ermey is perfect. The pacing is great and Stanley Kubrick's direction is also incredible. The soundtrack is great and the musical score is amazing.

Also, the music by Hans Zimmer is amazing.

Creepy horror
9 September 2019
The Shining is an effectively creepy if not that scary horror film. It's well made and beautifully filmed with amazing music. Jack Nicholson gives an incredible and iconic performance. Shelley Duvall gives a great performance and Scatman Crothers is really good in his small part. There's also some effectively creepy imagery. However, it's brought down by a pointless subplot and an overall lack of scares.

Great drama
9 September 2019
Legends of the Fall is a great drama that has a huge scope and is both epic and emotional but is a little too melodramatic in places. Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Aidan Quinn all give great performances. It's beautifully filmed with great direction from Edward Zwick. The music by James Horner is fantastic.

Slightly disappointing but still really good and emotionally satisfying
7 September 2019
It Chapter Two is slightly disappointing, due to it not being as good as it's predecessor but it's still a really good and emotionally satisfying concluding chapter. All of the adult losers give great performances and have amazing chemistry with Bill Hader giving the standout performance. It's surprisingly extremely funny throughout. Andy Muschietti's direction is great and the music by Benjamin Wallfisch is fantastic. However, what brings it down and makes it slightly disappointing is that it isn't that scary. Bill Skarsgård is massively underutilized (but is still perfect in his scenes) and replaced with weak CG creatures and it relies mostly on jump scares.

It is an incredible horror that's funny, emotional, scary and full of nostalgia. The young cast all give incredible performances and have fantastic chemistry. Bill Skarsgård is perfect as Pennywise in an extremely committed performance. The humour works really well and it's full of extremely suspenseful and scary sequences throughout. The music by Benjamin Wallfisch is amazing. It's also beautifully filmed with great direction from Andy Muschietti.

5 September 2019
Nebraska is an incredible drama that's charming, heartwarming, emotional and funny. Alexander Payne's direction is incredible and it's beautifully filmed. Bruce Dern, Will Forte and June Squibb give incredible performances with great performances from Bob Odenkirk and Stacey Keach. All of the humour is very funny. However, it has moments that are very similar to other Alexander Payne movies.

Enjoyable thriller
4 September 2019
The Informer is an enjoyable and well made thriller, despite the generic plot and some predictable moments. Joel Kinnaman gives a great lead performance with good supporting performances from Common, Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen and Ana de Armas. It's also well paced with an intense fight scene and tense gunfight in the third act.

Incredible drama
3 September 2019
The Mustang is a incredible drama that's well paced, beautifully filmed and extremely emotional. Matthias Schoenaerts gives an incredible lead performance with great supporting performances from Bruce Dern and Jason Mitchell. The music by Jed Kurzel is amazing and the direction by Laure de Clermont- Tonnerre is incredible. It's only brought down by a brief but generic subplot that doesn't really add anything.

Great but familiar horror
2 September 2019
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark tells a familiar story extremely well, delivering a well paced and genuinely scary and at other points disturbing horror movie. All of the young cast give great performances and have really good chemistry. There are plenty of suspenseful and tense sequences throughout. André Øvredal's direction is amazing and the music by Anna Drubich and Marco Beltrami is fantastic.

Great return to form
1 September 2019
Scream 4 is a great return to form for the franchise, regaining the smart and self aware tone that was previously lost. It's also a smart deconstruction of the generic conventions of horror remakes. Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox give great performances again. Anthony Anderson and Adam Brody are also really good in their small parts. It's also got some really tense sequences and is well paced. Wes Craven's direction and the music by Marco Beltrami are once again fantastic. However, even though there are less fake jump scares than the previous installment, there are still too many.

Extremely disappointing end to the trilogy
30 August 2019
Scream 3 is an extremely disappointing end to the trilogy, losing the smart and self-aware deconstruction of the genre and instead being a generic and convoluted horror movie. Characters constantly make dumb decisions and all the new characters are completely forgettable, apart from Patrick Dempsey. Unlike it's predecessor, it relies almost entirely on jump scares and therefore failing to be scary. However, David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell give reliably good performances and the music by Marco Beltrami is fantastic as usual.

Incredible sequel better than the original
29 August 2019
Scream 2 is an incredible sequel, a smart, thrilling and self-aware horror sequel that effectively plays with the generic conventions of horror sequels. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Jamie Kennedy all give great performances once again. Liev Schreiber also gives a really good performance with his increased screen time. The music by Marco Beltrami is fantastic. Wes Craven's direction is amazing and actually fixes the problem with the last film as there are less fake jump scares, even if some are still unfortunately present. Overall, it's surprisingly better than the original.

Incredible and unpredictable drama
29 August 2019
A Bigger Splash is an incredible and unpredictable drama that's beautifully filmed, well paced and bold. Matthias Schoenaerts, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson all give incredible performances. The music is fantastic and Luca Guadagnino's direction is incredible. However, the ending feels a little abrupt.

Great horror
28 August 2019
While it requires a suspension of disbelief, Crawl is a great horror that's well paced, scary and thrilling throughout. Kaya Scodelario gives an incredibly committed lead performance and Barry Pepper gives a great supporting performance. Alexandre Aja's direction is fantastic and considering the small budget, the CG is surprisingly really good. The music by Max Aruj and Steffen Thum is amazing.

Really good but not as good previous Tarantino movies
27 August 2019
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is a really good movie but not as good as previous Tarantino movies. It has no plot and all of the scenes with Sharon Tate could and should be removed. Tarantino's foot fetish is at its most uncomfortable. However, Tarantino's direction is fantastic and the film visually stunning, feeling authentic to the time period it is set in. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt both give incredible performances and have amazing chemistry. Margot Robbie gives a really good performance, mostly relying on non verbal communication. The majority of the attempts at humour are actually funny and the soundtrack is reliably great. The extremely violent finale is incredibly fun.

Average action thriller
24 August 2019
The Sentinel is an average action thriller, the plot is extremely predictable with no surprises and derivative of other action movies that have come before it. However, it's an enjoyably average action thriller due to a fast pace and really good performances from Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland and enjoyable action.

Great end to the trilogy
23 August 2019
Angel Has Fallen is a great end to the trilogy, an action packed, fast paced and extremely enjoyable action thriller. Gerard Butler is once again great as well as Morgan Freeman. Newcomers Danny Huston and Nick Nolte are great and welcome additions. The action sequences are great and well filmed. Ric Roman Waugh's direction is also really good. However, the cg is below average in places, which is typical of this franchise. Some of the twists are also predictable.

Incredible crime thriller
21 August 2019
Dragged Across Concrete is an incredible crime thriller that's morally grey, unpredictable and thrilling. Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn give incredible performances and have great chemistry. Tory Kittles, Michael Jai White and Thomas Kretschmann also give great performances. It's effectively and deliberately slow paced. S. Craig Zahler's direction is incredible and the film is beautifully filmed. However, the film is long at 2hrs 30 mins and there are a few scenes that could be removed without losing any plot or character development.
