Rita (2012)
Absolutely outstanding and entertaining understated comedy/ drama
Nearly at the end of season TWO and both my partner and I agree that the script, characters, direction, acting, above all acting are TEN OUT OF TEN. Give it a chance. Subtitles only ADD to enjoyment, listening out carefully for similarities (NOT MANY!) between Danish and English
PROBABLY THE BEST TV SHOW WE HAVE SERN IN LAST TEN YEARS
BEST I MEAN, FROM ANY COUNTRY!
An absolute MUST
Orden especial (1992)
Wonderful ironic look at post-Franco Spain
These five-minute sketches, aired on TV at around midnight in Olympic Year Barcelona 1992 became essential waching for me, both dor their comedy value, linguistic education
(ie They helped me improve my Sanish) as well as cultural awareness)
Each episode begins with a (totally unconventional) group of monks (and nuns)
who are observing TV screens showing examples of certain people who are behaving in ways they deem to be immoral/ unfair/ stupid/ boring etc
A gang of monks is then sent out to kidnap these unsavoury citizens in order to put them through a reeducation process. For example, one episode called "El Facha" (The Fascist)
takes the man and gets him to read Marx, be kind to a gay man, help a single mum etc until he is "well enough" to be let back out into society.
Although it's now over 25 year's old it is well worth checking out on YouTube to get a feel of what Spain/ Barcelona was like just before it's post Olympian boom.
It's quite an eye opener! And if you have at least an intermediate level of Spanish then you should appreciate it
