The Sound of Music (1965)
One of the Greatest Films of All Time!
I have to say, The Sound of Music is indeed one of the greatest movies of all time. It is easily a classic movie, that all people should see at least once.
When I was younger I thought this movie was very boring. But when I was a little older, my parents had me watch it, and now it is one of my favorites. Julie Andrews is a phenomenal actress and wonderfully portrays the character of Maria Von Trapp. Her performance moves your soul, and touches your heart like no other actress. The story is unforgettable, as are the wonderful songs such as Do Re Mi, Maria, and Climb Every Mountain. Although the movie is 3 hours long, it gets your attention at the beginning, and keeps you involved until the spectacular ending.
I highly recommend that you watch this movie. If you love musicals, then I guarantee you will adore this film. And if you don't like musicals, overlook the songs, and pay attention to the story. You won't be disappointed.
I loved this movie! It is one of the funniest movies I have seen in 2006. You know, many people have been saying how bad it is, but I found it to be an extremely hilarious film. I'm not listening to anyone else. My opinion is, as follows: LARRY THE CABLE GUY IS A FUNNY PERSON. Why can't people at least give him respect? The movie was very funny, and he did a great job depicting the daily life of a redneck person. Thank you Larry for giving the world this funny film to show us how trailer trash makes life very fun. I love the comedy acts he does on television, and this movie was just as funny as his TV act. I wish there would be a sequel. I would sure as heck see it.
Akeelah and the Bee (2006)
A powerful inspirational film
This movie was an incredible experience for me. When I walked in, I expected a comedy, but got a drama, and I loved it! How could you not love this movie? All of the actors were great, it had an inspiring story, and made a point that even a shrinking flower can blossom and make a difference. It was an incredible film, and well worth the price of an admission ticket. On your next trip to the theater, if you come across this film, don't let the opportunity pass you by. Go to see this movie. Don't see it just for a nice trip to the movies, see it for the inspiration that comes after the incredible ending. You will not be disappointed after you exit the auditorium.
King Kong (2005)
Some people are saying that this movie was stupid and they wasted three hours of their lives watching this film. But I do not think that at all. This was a truly amazing movie with awesome special effects and great acting from Jack Black, Naomi Watts, and Adrien Brody.
When the theater that Ann Darrow (Watts) works at closes, she is left out of work. She refuses to take a job working at burlesque. At the same time, Carl Denham (Black)has no one to star in the film he is starting. When Ann tries to steal an apple out of extreme hunger, Carl sees her and gives her a dime to pay for it, instead of her getting hurt by the stand owner.
Carl tells Ann about his new film, which he will shoot on "Singapore." She reluctantly agrees, when she finds out Jack Driscoll (Brody) is to write the screenplay. During the sail to "Singapore", Carl tells Jack that he's really directing the ship to go to a deserted island called Skull Island. Jack and Ann fall in love on the ship.
When the boat arrives at the island, they soon realize that it is not deserted. Savage villagers take Ann, and she soon finds out that it she is a sacrifice for "Kong." Finally, the huge ape comes into the story. Kong takes Ann to somewhere in the jungle of Skull Island. The crew, who sets out to find Ann, find themselves in troubles of their own. While looking for Ann, they must battle dinosaurs and huge deadly bugs.
Ann and Kong develop a relationship at the same time when Jack leaves the crew and finds her. When Kong wakes up, he is in a rage and attacks. Then, back at the boat, Carl uses a toxic chemical to calm the ape down. Devistated, Ann won't participate in the show that Mr. Denham creates:"King Kong, Eighth Wonder Of The World" Back in New York City, opening night seems to go well. But, when Kong realizes the actress playing Ann is not really Ann, the huge gorilla goes berserk, more than ever before. He is tearing apart the entire city, looking for the real Ann. Finally, when Ann finds Kong, they suddenly find themselves at the top of the Empire State Building, where the climax is held, and the most emotional part of the movie.
Overall, this movie was totally awesome. I recommend it to all movie goers. You will not be disappointed!
Rat Race (2001)
A funny movie
I did not see this film in the theaters, but I had seen the previews for it. They made it look like it was going to be funny and fast paced. It was out of the theaters for about two years before I finally was convinced to watch it. All of my friends were saying, "Have you seen Rat Race?" I always had to say no. Then they always told me how funny it was. I finally decided to rent it from Blockbuster.
This movie was absolutely HILARIOUS! I would describe this movie as a constant bombardment of jokes and funny actions. It is so funny what a bunch of random people will do for two million dollars. My favorite character was Vera Baker, played by Whoppie Goldberg. If you have never seen Rat Race, head on down to the nearest movie rental store, make a bowl of popcorn, and get ready to laugh your head off for two hours.
