Simple but impactful.
Newton is a plain story which portraits the most primitive feelings of honesty, greed, apathy, neglect, anger, despise and fear in the garb of integrity, corruption, insurgency, freedom, complacency, power and will-power in least contrived manner.
Newton talks about a man called Newton who is young and just joined his clerical job in a government office. The story rolls out when he is deployed as a presiding officer of elections in Maoists affected region of dandakaranya where live a few tribes with 76 registered voters. But numbers don't matter for Newton. He always wants to perform his duty to conduct the fair election by going to the whole hog. He is supposed to be naive by his convoy and CRPF asst. commander Aatma Singh as he is ignorant of the situation here. This explicitly comes out when in a scene he is asked by Aatma Singh "Tumhara in naxaliyon ke baare me kya khayal hai?" And he replies "koi khayal nahi hai".
Then the story drags itself by the grudge between the two till the end. Though the movie has lots of moments to give you a string of emotions & contemplations but I am not interested in telling you the full story.
The low point of the movie is only that it really runs slow in the first half but never gives you space to obviate it. And its second half is intriguing enough to follow every inch of the movie till the end. It gives you every minuscule detail of related things in movie.
Finally, I would say Newton is a strong film which is perfectly written and showcased on screen which introduces you with lots of features and issues of contemporary India but predominantly teaches you the most powerful lesson of performing your intended job with full will power. The song "Chal tu apna kaam kar" tells the same. Definitely a must watch for everyone.
