Up to a certain point, this show is literally the Life is Strange videogame if it took place in the UK and Max didn't have any time-traveling superpowers. I haven't read the book, although I think I will since everyone says the series took its liberties on the story, but as far as the series goes there are zero chances all the similarities were unintentional: "good girl" gets killed/disappears, main character is a bit boring but pushes herself to find the truth going to a crazy exclusive party, finds out good girl had ties with drug dealer AND one of the most beloved teachers... So either the producers or the original author MUST have been fans of the game because that's literally it.
Aside from that, I'd say it's a decent miniseries: not to love unconditionally (it has its flaws) but not to hate either.
