its too aggressive and polarized
20 November 2019
The objectiveness of this documentary are lacking in far too many ways. this is my objective assesment of this documentary. i do not yogg myself but i admire the ones who streches their limits as far as shown in this film , and do feel petty for the ones that has become victimized.

what i do feel petty for also is that this documentary also discredit the yoga movement, and the practice of'' bikram'' yoga as a scam and humbug. so this documentary has not been aiding this form of activity. there will always be predators out there, in yoga, in sports in education, in religion, where the ''pupil'' are so profound and flat on the nose to be what the teacher wants you to be. so beware to all , young as old, there will always be predators and it may happen again.

the grumpy old man shouldnt have deliberated so much about it, but objectivity and unipolar presentation is not good documentary making. its a 6 and no more than that

the revival of a forgotten genre
19 November 2019
Made in a very nice way musicaly, but the acting by the cast are extremely amateuristic, somewhat stiff and fumbling, the story jumps from death to death and sorrow to sorrow, and have a mix of fractions from other yulseason classics from the past.

because its a musical, and if it had been made in the 1970's it would have pressed to impress, but its not up to date wether productionwise or technically- what i enjoyed the most where to hear the voice of angela landsbury again, my gawd i envy those who have such great great great grandmother at hand. she is the narrator of the story, and makes it some kind of vivid and entangeling dreamlike.

so if you can accept some broken leg acting and a musical of the past then have a look, its not a strong mobie, but will touch the hearts to those who are mature enough, and are able to read between the lines. the grumpy old man thinks 5 is a maks.

Its the korean war spun out in the story of the battle of jangsari-beach. its a bittersweet film with extremely lots of death and misery, and droppings of sentimentalia and heart grieving emotions of angst and fear.

its a classic war movie, made the korean way and style, there are the usual problem differing a south from a north soldier especially in the dark surroundings takes, but all the killings do give some clues which side youre on.

the warbattles are a ravaging kill a kill nonstop, some vfx and cgi are used especially in the naval shoots, and some are good and some not that good. in the end it feels like these men and woman where the forgotten soldiers and left there because the un-forces were far too toothless and badly organized at that front.

if youre keen on war history its a film must see, it felt like a hammerblow to me, therefore recommended

magnificent
16 November 2019
Magnificent story, magnificent animation, magnificent actors voices, magnificent and unique twist of an idea, so if you will like to know who santa is, where he comes from, why he became the santaklaus, why he use a sleigh instead of a wagon, well its just the basics from the bigbang till today told in a way that everyone can have a good look at and feel the joy of.

it was a little saggy in the start but 10 minutes in it takes of like a supernova. ireally liked the''by incident/occation '' way things developed, why there are gifts, and why the bad kids wont get anything.

i believe that the grumpiness a grumpy old man radiates are sorted under the cathegory of bad kid, so no gifts for me this year, but you may all have a gift from me, a recommendation, to see this movie.great it is.

one of the prankiest comedies since the 80's
15 November 2019
My gawd, greg coolidge et co., this was just like pulling me bakc 30 years to the days comedy movies made me laugh. this is a must see for football lovers and haters and all of us that dont have a clue why they run around on the pitch lake a flock of headless turkeys chasing a ball that isnt a ball because its not round making the girls dizzy and wave their peacock wings in the sky each time the games comes to a hault.

this film has it all except for good intricate verbal fist fight humour, and the pranks, the demeanour, the sound of overweight middelaged men who wants to win the trophy back are just hilarious. i cant find anybody of the actors making one flaw in this film, they are darn natural, and that is my point of view.

a comedy like this are not based on technical bravour, its more the rythm, the music, the buddymanship and not to forget the smile. there are some plotholes, like a selfextinguishing fire, but i dont care.

i , the grumpy old man will higly recommend this feature length comedy for all its worth, and i hope to see more from this ensemble in the future

not THE masterpiece
15 November 2019
But still extremely good enough. its the lapd squad car on patrol again, weve seen them before, and more will come.

its the training day for the rookie rookie, and papa copper tells you what to do, what to say, what to shut up about, and how to do things best to ensure your own safety, so that you might have a long life unharmed in the force, so remember to look at his hands whatever you do....

its a lot of carriding, with some snack here and there, and if you know the police code youll be far better into the story. the acting are good, the sound effects sit in the guts, the mental state of a copper are well described, and near the end your just pinned to the chair to what happens next.

i usually dont like films like this, i like better the opposite part, heists and robberies and such stuff, but the grumpy old man had a nice ride in the dark l.a. streets, and will therefore recommend you to too.

Radioflash (2019)

i was really delighted and surprised by this
15 November 2019
Radioflash is a post emp story, where the stockers and hoarders and preppers will survive, till the normal times will return. because its a survival story, much like the genre's highway, but its has some bends and turns that made it interresting for a grumpy old man too

its a small cast movie, but they really make a good job. you can litterally feel the cold in their bonemarrow, while searching and seeking refuge and safety. the location seekers have really done an over the top job, and the filmatographic result are just a marvel by itself. when checking site locations, i know the names and places, due to a close follow up on u.s. wildfires on the internet for some years now. the scenic views are worth the price of the admission ticket, so watch it, its great.

storywise and how the story is plotted could have been better, though the storyline are pretty straight forward, and easy to follow, it has those small comatose moments . there are for the hitech nerds even more to pick on for sure, but we acclaim the survival of the fittest, dont we.

there are a bit violent moments of anarchy throughout the flick, but at a level that it viewable from 7 and up. so lets grump together for radioflash, a recommend.

extremely good considering budget level
14 November 2019
Its a film about a disease, and the hunt for the main source. there are emergency management involved a the cdc are connected to the case, but not the way things wouldve happened in real life. and that is why its just an 8 on my star meter.

its a frantic search and find flick, with loads of flashbacking, and flashing symptoms of the disease, that may feel interruptive, and in the end there are a few unanswered questions on the who why what basis. therefore i do expect a sequel to this mystery drama sometime in the near future.

anyway, technically the film are well managed, its well plotted and fastpaced, and therefore not boring. the acting by the main male are very good.

as i said, it is on a low budget, so dont expect a high temp hollywood hot zone movie. its a nice attempt thinks the grumpy old ma. its a recommend

extreme explosions
13 November 2019
Is what i like to see when i view a good military action thriller. and in angel has fallen youll get bucketloads of the stuff.

the story are as usual, and the bad guys are erased in the end, though with lots of coincidal dagage on people and property, and except for some glitches from the editing and sound department ( no sound of the helicopter hovering just above the head), its very entertaining to watch and the actors are good.

every plot has got some slow paced moments, but as long as it , in retrospect, is important to give clues for the rest of the story its a pass, but these moments where just a bit too long and therefore just an 9.

the grumpy old man loves morgan freeman, and are quite bedazzled of nick noltes aging process, but i still have to learn gerard butler better , he is far too variable in his efforts on the screen, but its a recommend.

this is a headbanger
13 November 2019
Even though full of inconsistencies, physically impossible wormholes and time warping, and the use of telephony as delayed or relayd electromagnetic force to send messages from the past , or was it to the future, anyway. if you can live with that, then this is a suspensfilled, ravishing action crime thriller drama that keeps you at the edge of your seat and squared to the screen.

there will always be made utopian films like this to trigger the fingertips of a squemish reviewer, but i think this was an intelectual, fastpaced and wellacted film that kept the secrets tight to the torso. the grumpy old man had bad wibes, but came out pretty disturbed and impressed. its a recommend

plain and cute and pretty much just the same as ever
13 November 2019
Its the annual disney x-mas prank coming over us again, now with a twist of whos in charge of the reindeer sleigh, and with big stars in the cockpit.

its a very colourfilled film, high on positive spirits, just like a rave party, and the cliches follow each other like a t-ford assembly band. this years great news is that there are only about 2800 nice children in the world, so says the north pole central computer, computed by santas brother who like to turn the dime more than twice.

the festivity are on , and the grumpy old man will for sure put this on for my wife, she loves a jingling x-mas flicks, for me its was ok but not more than that. but by all means, its a recommend.

slow paced , but has its highlights
12 November 2019
I knew this was a film from the present, but my goodness how this looked like a good ol' wild west cowboy love story, so if it hadnt been for the motorized wheels, the wind turbines and the galloping gerties, i wouldve accepted it. in a way it reflects the modern day wild west up the in the northern states , that attracts oil workers to come in steems, and with the steem the hardware store and the prostitutes for lust and entertainment are following close.

because its a story about one of theso prostitutes, and a native ranchers son whos has been a cowboy from the day he could straddle a horse. clashing togeter under serious circumstances he falls in love and promise her protection at the ranch. but the pimp wont allow that to happen and then the race is on.

there are some really ravishing bar fights and a lot of unfairness against the indian dame and the cowboy himself. the acting are merely great not superb. the spirit of the movie are gloomy , grey, dark and harsh visually and emotionally, so you are not entering a comedy, thats for sure.

but the grumpy old man have seen lots of films worse , also better ones, but it stings, thats for sure wether you like it or not. its a recommend

ganz is good
12 November 2019
Its a story about the plain and simple bond, between the psychiatrist sigmund freud and a tobacco selling apprentice franz , in the politically preassure boiler pre 2nd world war vienna, austria.

its a nice film, without atrocities, and not so much nazipropaganda as you might expect of a film like this, but it catches itself very well through the acting and location design of the city streets of vienna.

its a bit psychoanalytic in its preferences, and there are some dream themes that can be sore to swallow for the novices of the silverscreen, but the message are given without the words in a very well acted play.

if you like bruno ganz, you wont be dissapointed, the grumpy old man recommends

great metal comedy
10 November 2019
Well i didnt expect this to be a fun movie, but i was wrong. its one of the greatest character comedy ive seen lately, so dont come say that finns cant make good comedy, as i usually think, having grown up with vodka thirsty finnish drama and sauna cabarets on the norwegian broadcaster's tv-theater every darn tuesday in my childhood, hoping for a bare tit here and there, and that made me learn one word in finnish , namely perkellae.

the grumpy old man and his grumpy old better half had a hilarious view, and we both think that its a good 8. do watch it wether or not you like death metal-music. its a recommend

not sensational
10 November 2019
Its the untold story of gothams dear joker, lets call it the rise of the joker, that sounds better.for the acting by joachin phonix i give a star spangling 9, for the rest of the movie just a 6. its a slow movie, very slow paced, that rides on a junior wave, till the killerwave comes rumbling, in the most psychopatic way you can imagine. si i got what i expected, and a sequel will arise from the ashes of blood. just wonder how the clown train came in as it was ordered, serendipity or five flies in one whack.

the grumpy old man have seen stories far better told, and by far much better plotted, but if youre in for it youll get satisfie will recommend for the acting.

9 November 2019
I usually avoid chorus lines music films, but this one caught me, first of all , the intensive tempo and pace of the action,an unforgettable introduction, very well done performances by the dancers and musicians and not to forget the lovestory. great great great.

so if your into the trade of dance and music, and loves musicals, then the grumpy old man recommends.

what is true to believe
9 November 2019
Its a film about organ donation, about cell/body memory, severe ptsd, murder and lots of other stuff mixed in a bucket and a lot of flashing dream themes and shown to us as a thriller drama.

its a dark sinister and painfilled story of a life that should be hallelujahed up in the sky, as the lifesaver a transplant can be.

what i come to realise after seeing this movie are a very mixed quality acting, a pretty plotholed story, a nervewrecking score and a not so well told ending to this story. so help me if you can, the grumpy old man says to understand what i really missed out on in this film.

heavy duty for the essex boys, though the first is the best
8 November 2019
There is a hersay about the brits that they are..........! and this film really shows the cruel side of it. its as you may expect, coke, lots of f-words, and c-words, a whole lot of beating stabbing and shooting, stealing ,cheating and messing around. and in marbella, there are of course no policia/bobbies or bills around, not even a siren, just nice big houses with big bath tubs and of course some british crooks.

i think that even a nitwit can understand that this cant be a reflection of true events. but there are some funny sideshow of bipolar origin that goes tandem with the bad attitude, and if it hadnt been for these moments i would have walked out of the aula.

its the rise of the footsoldier, the grumpy old man understands that, but the mix of gaelic and keltish rumblethumb like king rollo on a high are just good enough for a five.a dig for the blood and gore fan...

Im to old and grumpy for these kinda heyo teenage get together in a speedy happy cristmas and let the merry go around the steamboat charlie cause were gonna have a party at the waffle bar in the afful city - movie kinda thing.....see.....i'm far tooo old

well, its a sweet film by all means, and it has a serious background noise all the way through , that really stabs the humour dead. but the moral is there so its cute in many ways, so were the actors too, but they had what seems to me a bit lack of spontanity in their acting. to be very negative there are a case of slow pacing inflicting bad wibes to this flick too, but never the less, it works.

as a filmographic product, its nice, though an x-mas movie should have had some more star spangling x-mas lightening decorating the backgrounds and the editing couldve been a bit more prescise that said, do enter this film for its choice of music, i guess some 20 different season related songs were stuffed into this flick and that was awesome...

the still grumpy old man that never have been on a drink drank drunk x-mas eve party,,we use to beat the bush on boxing day, will nevertheless give a recommend.

one gets nicked into the cage
8 November 2019
In this film, a jungle story moved inside the belly of a freighting sjip, a sweedish one i think, and the maze of action a boosted by having an caged assassin onboard at a secret transfer for cia/fbi..... and everything goes ka-boom when man animal and machine are let loose in a primeal fight to survive..

if you like nonstop action movies from the 80's and 90's youre on the right track actually, the grumpy old man though fell asleep on the couch near the end. its not a bore therefore a recommend, just a weak 6.

this is a soothing marvel
8 November 2019
Of a film, not very sensational, but an unimagineable rewarding one and a half hour of auditorial and emotional featherlike sweeps on your senses.

most of all i will praise the score, it is now shuffeled into my top 10 list of filmscores, its a relaxing floating hum in the background that gives the film the bouyancy to float all the way to the end.

the story is a kind of flashback told story, about a happy childhood that abruptly changes into something bad and unended. this creates a nightmarish life to the main caracter, who seeks back to her roots to make an end to her traits of life. i will not tell how its going, but just say that its interesting .

the story is a fine one, but the plot couldve been better sewn together, especially on the major transitions of the film.i think the director and editor mustve had a rush on their shoulders to finish this product, but that is the only flaw i can come up with.

for the dramaqueens and scoreseekers this is a hit in the bullseye, the grumpy old man were totally lost , and what remains is just a higly recommend.

fantastic symbiosis
31 October 2019
With some small plotholes, but most of all its a story well told about the ups and DOWNS in human lifes, where two cavemen, on the run from their problems, tie a bond as fugitives so strong that even the squemiest of cinemagoers would shed a tear of disbelief.

so dont take it down on a downs syndromer, the action and interaction played out in this film are magnificent and unforgettable. if yore casting an actor for a character llike zak, your stupid if your llooking up in the sky to find a supernova star when you can just turn around or look down if you dont want to drown, because zack gottsagen , or the peanutbutter falcon, is the most protruding star among thousands of other stars that really believes.

but most of all this film shows a lot of love and harmony that lacks greatly in todays filmaking, and the lashing , hilarious fun parts made me laugh more than two hand can count. but above all the film has that sweet taste of the southern sole, the mossy swamps the crabbing, the beating and the praying, and most of all the good ol' southern way to talk...magnificent!!!

its also worth mentioning actors like Wayne Dehart as blind jasper as well as bruce dern and john hawkes for their good and contributing acting , each one representing its extremes, as the holy, the mean and the old and bald in society.blind jasper could for surtain have convinced me to get baptized the way he did the act.

so as you can see this tasted very well on the darling tastebuds of the grumpy old mans tounge, its got a few plotholes but for the rest iits the best for a long long time in its genre on the silverscreen. its a recommend.

too multifasetted for me
26 October 2019
There are lots of movies like this, made for you to think, and think again and think to the bitter end, and at my end its just a bunch of terriby secluded answers, in a never ever told story to make easy or clever solutions too.

there is a vast hole in this story that makes me extremely frustrated, and that is the lack of prehistory, why , how and when. i do also find the choice of cast a bit peculiar. having worked with and been surrounded by eritreans for the past 20 years, they could have found a more typical eritrean looking actor for the role as luce. also the character of luces girlfriend is a miscast, its a maze of bad acting she shows while confessing to luces mum in the coffee bar. its all just a bash full of lies from beginning to end.

its a lure film thinks the grumpy old man, who still wonders , who were the culprit / bad specimen of this flick. its just a 5 and not oscar worthy at all
