lame is just a word
17 September 2019
That i use when acting is far too structured and unspontanious as in this comedy. its a film about fail-outs or bail outs in the art of love, and a learning video how to find a new mate. its divided in a womens academy and a male academy, and the proffesional goal is to see how many of the attendants that can couple up at the end of the course.

the acting are very constricted, scripted and has a big lack of spontanity. i will be very nice if i say that it qualifies as a c- movie, not a see-movie that is. there are also some irregularities in the filmography and cam angles, where the main feature of the shoot suddenly slides out. also the kissing and hugging could be compared to a freshman visiting a lepra colony on the body hunt.

its a film though, and it is a good example how to make a movie out of lead, to reach the gold standard needs a lot more passion and guts than this flick presented. the grumpy old man had initially a 4 on the tounge, but landed at a poor but still sturdy 2, for the lame ''tough to love''-story

misses the take of
14 September 2019
This is a film with a topic that could ve been a chigagian blockbuster, if done the right way. when i saw this film i felt like sitting in a plane before take of, and the time runs by , and no engine starts, the seat gets hotter and hotter, and after an hour or so, the captain informs that the flight has been canceled due to technical errors ..... and what do i mean by that, well its a film that never takes off, and then i mean dead stop.

its a comedy for sure, but ive seen better amateur films than this.... and it didnt make me laugh. the male lead is quite likeable and seems quite good at his act, but this film are just not what an icvecold grumpy old man from icecold norway laugh about , not even drunk. its a fumbling try, and could barely be be recommended for jazzlovers due to the score.

do or dare or die

Finally i found a decent horror thriller, of the claustrophobic, mazerunning type of action, with a good allthough of few words spoken story, with a plot that flows well with the help of a tantalizing kind of score, and solid acting by the young cast. the balance between the scare and the gore are perfectly adjusted, which makes the gutwrenching more tolerable and the fright of the worst horror digestable and sensational.

its a halloween flick, a couple of young adults trying to find a good party, but gets lost when driving, till in a remote location a billboard flashing''scare house'', makes them try it out..

its a good film with well staged locations and sets, good filmography and sharp editing, and the use of avenge as rerevenge are riveting and extraordinary. if you wanna have a good scarein the ''house of funs'' do dive into this flick as i, the grumpy old man did, with recommendations.

quite a pleasure
10 September 2019
Infidelity and adultry, siblings and halfsiblings, a wife here and a wife there, never mind it tastes good, the bitter taste comes in the end whatever you do

its a comedy with a bit seriousity, alot of hide and seek, some teenage festival humour, and a whole lot of family-business. its the story about the man that has made himself two families, and have lived that life successsfully for nearly 20 years till the day he is being disclosed by one of his somns, and so the blackmailing and the whole charade starts.

its quite an original turn on the idea, and the sort of filmgenre that is hard to make a good ending on, but i think they do it well, and the acting are allover pretty good and you really feel the desperation at times. some may feel the makers are just scratching the surface of the topic , but its meant to be a comedy, and they have made a good one too( i skiped dinner to end the film)

so the grumpy old man recommends a view of this family bundle, its good and its fun...

a tragic intermesso in a workmans life
10 September 2019
Its a french film about a man that came from nothing, struggled his way to the upper level by hard and long workdays to maintain a large family wealthy lifestyle, till the day he makes the wrong descision, which make the descend into the abysmal nightmare of unemployment become a reality. its a film about shipping, globalization, family values, pride and prejudice.

its not a fun flick, what kept me in was to see how much this caracter could withstand. the main male actor, that has the same grumpy appearance as i have, does a marvellous act, so if you debate watching this movie, i can recommend on the basis of good caracter acting. the grumpy old man really felt sorry for the guy.

if you dont like this.....
6 September 2019
Written and directed by kevin mcmullin, please mr mcmullin, a cry from the cold north, make a high tide or storm surge to follow up these kids , cause this was just some of the most majestic of the wonders of the world ive seen on the silver screen lately. where do you get your ideas from, and how could you inspire them kids to act as natural as they do.....its just a marvel of a film....

i will not spoil any of the story, because its just so easy as it is complex and definate, and therefore you better see

the grumpy old man in grumpy icecold norway are just gobsmacked by the acting, the story , the filmography, the score, the choice of location, but most of all it feel like being thumped in the solar plexus when a film end like this. so to all of you who debates wether to see or not to see, do like ducie, she saw, and i saw and i recommend with a ten.

hauntless and worthless
6 September 2019
Making a good warmovie shouldnt be that hard to make, but the managment of this film really felt the hardships of making one. i shall admit that i fell asleep each time the film focuses on the two pilots drifting the ocean due to lifejackets, trying to keep up moral, and waiting to get help, and getting abrupt awake by airplane rumbling in the next sequence. my question is, why midway, and where are midway, is it in the mid-del or in between. i know the pacific war history and know very well what happened in midway, but does the director and producers???

the acting are terrible at all levels and what saves the glory and a two star from me were some of the flight cgi's that at moments nearly sucked the air out of me, but it all crashes down to negative -g as soon as the actors opens their mouth, and here the green or blue or whatever screen in the studio are nearly visible. it is alike watching kirk douglas with his dollar grin bombing japs in a good ol 1942 war movie, its just so primitive and dumb and nevertheless , so the grumpy old man goes for dumbless the dazzle on fraudway, and its not a recommend unless you enjoy some flightsimulator video game stuff

cosa nostra or cosa nescessere
6 September 2019
No parla italiano, and that gave me some problems following the narrative, due to a very bad english CC's, that mustve been issued by an overeager middle schooled italian or siscilian. and that is a major drawback for the film....

which is very good indeed, about the big trials towards the leadership of the cosa nostra divisions of siscily in the late 70's and the 1980's. i do remember some of the names, and especially the bomb attack on giorgio falcone made a deep impression to me when it happened. it also shows the primitive judicial system that were excecuted in italian court rooms, with poor discipline and frightened judges and officials and corrupt police.

the story do spring back and forth very fast and often, but survives by good time and place info on each shift. the pace are slow, but the acting are very well done and the lead male actor gave an excellent performance on many levels. i wish i had those cool demeanors...

if you want to see a film with some similarities to don corleone, and killing spree of blood feuds alla sciciliano style, then the grumpy old man recommend il traditore. a strong 8.

sweettalk
3 September 2019
To try to mesmerize the world with sweettalk and mrs legrande telling ''unk'' to think trice is the main message of this sweetsmearing presentation of hurricane wobbeling financial crisis management. the way the saintification of hank paulson as the saviour of big money is a crime against humanity and will forever after be remembered for that. and where were the president when all this was going on, and why wasnt he a part of the acting cast in this film....

which is a well made movie by the way, easy for john doe or gud og hvermann to understand, but what the film does not understate is...where did the moey go, who benefitted upon this financial crisis, or was it just a big lie to us all?!

the grumpy old man has always evaded himself from the stockmarket, and i guess half of all thinks im a stupid, stubborn grumpy old man that wont make a nikkel without sweating tenfold the energy spent to make a nickel, when you can make gold out of wall street. but its a recommended film to watch if you can live with the truth of lies, and if you can make your own statements based on many more objective flicks made on the subject, as ''inside job'' etc.

ben is much better than usual recently
1 September 2019
Not because its a good film or agood plot or a complete spy story as we grew up with in the 1980s, 1990s and the start of this century. no, ben is just simply the slick, eloquent, wellspoken and as usual iconic bawled headed eagle of silverscreen stardome, that awoke in my early movie theater seat , with his lead role as ghandi in the film ghandi that were acclaimed up to the stars and to infinity( a film that norwegian school boards found so groundbreaking, they made it compulsary to watch, and in buses we were shuffled to see this nearly 3 hour slow paced story about indias fiht for independence. as a middle schooler i was far too young for bald heads and cast-system).

its a spy movie, with lots of espionage and counterespionage, mossad,cia,mi-summasummarum or whatever and so on. a jumping jack of a story, that murders here and hugs there, and with fast shifting locations due to easy passing borders in the eu, and small distances between the metropolises of the lower countries, and its defeat and betrayal at all levels, even the two lead carachters the eagle and the finch has a fight in the end.

so the grumpy old man thinks its just one of them mediocre attempts to make a new generation of spy game movies, not with an amazing success this time, but ben is good. a grumpy recommend in the end.

clumsy and basically flawfilled
30 August 2019
From start to end, it seems like a horror project made on accord, note especially the difference in daylight in consecutive scenes. a director that cant wait for the correct time to shoot scenes is not independent or good enough. well nough about that...

its a horror film pointed at the arachnophobic ones of us, which i am, but i werent scared or frightened, but some dignification shall be given to them who made the thing.

the acting are slow and at times very amateuristic, and its very badly plotted together all in all. the children shall have a badge for furnishing the new house in a blitz like speed, even though i think the social services would be gobsmacked by the neglect of the children in the start.

i must admit that im on the grumpy road of being a grumpy old man, but this was not a horror movie to remember, not for me that is, but maybe for you.

NOOMI IS BACK
30 August 2019
This is a filmed with extreme mixed emotions, as a matter of fact extremely embarrassing and utterly uncomfortable at stages at the same time as you can feel 100 percent aligned with the main characters thoughts , emotions and actions. at the same time you understand her surroundings and the feel of danger that emits from the main caracter.

its not a family movie for sure even though there are children involved. the story are at times complex and seems at standstill at time, but its a boost in the second half. the filmography and settings are very well done and chosen, and the music made for this feature film are indeed spot on.

i the grumpy old man discovered noomi rapace in a sweedish made triology based on the books by stieg larsson, does still impress me in a kind of solo role that she plays in this movie. she is strong and temptatious in her acting, very well made chioce by the casting crew.

its not a film for everyone, but for those who like the genre, it will be a smashing hit. highly recommended.

for every zombie hater i guess, like me
29 August 2019
If you think ghost busters , because bill murray appears in this flick your correct, this time its a sedat and truly naive hunt for zombies. they are slightly different than the main stream but they still kill.

its a comedy en masse, an ironic view of the superstitious with rednecked caracters and extremely slow paced. the filmography and some of the special effects are good, and ai had a few good laughs over the killing sequences.

its a film that could be viewed from 0.75 to 1.5 on the ffwd button, and the grumpy old man really used it for all it was worth. its no more than five for the undead

a gas station attendants fantasy
24 August 2019
Was this a weird story or not? i think so, and i think the last laugh is the best when the policeman asks''what happened here tonight''.

its a story about a shy and underestimated girl that does the dirtywork that noone else will do at the gasstation. she has a colleague that has karisma sharm and beauty to melt and control anyone, and its a man with a gun who tries to rob the gasstation. the robbery goes kinda bananas, and to find out what really happeneo watch ''burn''.

its a good story, it might be a bit slowpaced to many but it develops a way that many viewers will love. it has its crazy twists and turns that surprised me more than once. there are some accidental comedy here and there, but its not made for an oscar to win.

the grumpy old man recommends this flick cause when the going gets tough the tough gets going or burning or whatever....

a decade of decadence celebrated
23 August 2019
If you like neo noir comedies,of the more or less spontanious kind of fun and action , you might like to view this flick called 10 years later.

its a group of 6 highschoolers getting together for the first time in ten years. evolution has made an impact on them all and they have developed in various ways, from the correct to the burlesque to the dopehead and so on.some better of with money and wealth than the other. but a good film is based on crazy moves and funny twists, and when a attempted kidnapping of one of the girls goes wrong the revenge is to kidnap the kidnapper and give him a treat of a lifetime. when the bottomline is that this napper are an enemy of the group of friends since the days at school and the fact is that he has now become the '' law'' of this city as one of the sheriffs pawns, it flawours the the hilarriousityof the charade of comedy.

the actors are really doing a good job, and the characters are developed in a superb way throughout the film, the score fits like a cinderella shoe and my laughs were both from shock as well as they came spontainous. the pace are good, even though the story becomes quite breathtaking and crazed out in the end.

the grumpy old man had a nice time viewing the young ones 10 year later, and recommend this to anyone who likes the tales of the unexpected.

superweird psychoslasher-lala land
23 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I did not know anything before watching tone deaf, and im still pretty tonedeaf myself, and couldnt have found a better flick to praise my tinnitusious siren.

its a story about a girl whos going through a messy time of life. she has a hippie mother who runs a hippie camp, and has an oyster licking fellow on the leach whenever she feels for it. the girls father is dead, and they have a row on what to do with the ashes. to get away from it all the girl hires a house for the weekend, and little does she know how screwed up psychopatic and hallusinated her landlord is. what happens is for you to see, what i felt was gutwrenching and killing utterly without conscience, the stabbings and hatching and dismantling and bloodspatter come so fast and are completely without course.

the acting are far above average and the score are spot on, but the story strives to inspire the layman, i guess its made for the really squemish slasherlaiker and they have really hit the bullseye with the pacing. to be mean is a difficult task but in this film its like taken out of the oxford advanced dictionary of english.

the grumpy old man, still shaken and stirred by the events does recommend it allthough its special.

scream if you see it
21 August 2019
Its a film of superb scenic views, a complete ensemble of b-cathegory actors, and an immense feeling hunting the bigfoot in a studio. the screenplay, and the development of the caracters are not complete and the idea of making a bigfoot film has not been advanced.

the actors does not act with an aura and all of the are ego personalities, just as it use to be in the horror mystery genre wher the hunter is getting hunted. also there are so many initiative that runs deep in the sand, and makes much of this film incomplete and inconclusive.

the grumpy old man can recommend, but if you are offered a bed session afterwards, well do that first and see the film in postclimaxisk dizzyness afterwards

elizabeth mcgovern as beautiful as ever
21 August 2019
Must be the main topic in the discussion and reviews after watching the chaperone. mary lou richardson is also a smasher, in this rather eventless flick, although it is a great periodic 1920's set/decorations and costume vise.

the story and plot are a bit confusing because its a kind of biographic flick about 1920-30's film and dance star louise brooks. in the film things happens in wichita and new yourk, but when reading the biography it tells you that mostly all her activities where done in the los angeles area.

the story are flat the pace is slow and will for me the grumpy old man be remembered for mrs mcgovern, and that it is 35 years ago i got a naked glimpse of her in the crime drama Once Upon a Time in America. its a film to allof them who loves classic british drama series, and vintage films from the prohibition america

a maliscious dreamscenario to reach the top
19 August 2019
This was a dark comedy to say the least, not so hilarious, but some humble laughs it tickeled out of me.

its a film about a woman stiving to reach the top in her company, and her secret aim is to become rich and to find the love of her life. via various ways of coincidence she reaches her goal, if its deserved, well watch and see....

this is a film with extreme lots of locations and settings, and the editor and sound department has done a great job gluing together this piece of filmatic bravour. though its not perfect, it has a good float all the way through, and the main actress does a fine job. the narrative told by the main character can feel a bit cringy at times and there are some attempts to blow up some visual effects, but here the conclusion is a miss. the score though are of the vivid kind that makes you occupied and make you feel the mood f the motion through the sound of music.

the grumpy old man gives a 6 which for me means over average, and better than mediocre, and works like pelifix in the kindergarten, it keeps you glued to the screen all the way to the end. its just a recommend and so is it.

revenge isnt always the best but sometimes the sweetest
13 August 2019
When reading a short summary of ''teacher'' my first thought where, this must be like ''class of 1984'' or some real bully towards nerds + protective teacher= bloody revenge..... well it became some thing like that but not so much.

what i can say though is that the main actor does a good job on the screen, and that the plot had a good float and the score made it all pretty tense. also some of the bullying where rather maliscious and even though often used as a teenage drama topic it engaged me that much that i started talking to the screen and jolting at the takes.

its actually a good film thinks the grumpy old man, the only thing missing is the bloody revenge

13 August 2019
But even as hawaiian this story was it was barely a mediocre one. if you expect war your lost, if you would like some harakiri then your in. you will also find a whole lot of village around the bonfire talking or walking and not much more than that. there are some fistfights between friends , and foes too. itll may have some appeal for the right wing japanese audiences, because it has some japanese imperialism in its hidden agenda.

the acting are at b and c level, the locations and settings are rather like ''your mama and my mama, sitting by the fire'', and feels like a bunch of locals in a theater company joining forces to tell their part of the islands war history.

the grumpy old man saw it and will attend the haugesund international film festival later today

After all, considering an incoherent start with quite a few plotholes and some main figures that just looks and says nothing and does nothing. the introduction of characters are to say it mild poor. but as a relieve to you all, this nutball haystack thrilkler in the dark, it starts to incline in the second half and keeps you on the brink until the end.

the grumpy old man gives an 8, due to a nice filming job, and with a nice score.

its not a new idea
10 August 2019
But its an amazing movie to follow from start to end. it has humour, sorrow, genial twists and lures, marvellous acting from the entire cast. the filmography is a marvel itself, and should be seen even though you might not like south korean film.the transitions between scenes are what i call supersmooth, and very well spiced musical score, that makes you relax as well as take your breath away of shock jolts that appears from nowhere.

its a comedy satire, with a whole lot of wishing well realism, a quick look at south korean sosciety, the extreme contrasts , and the serendipidness of life that makes a grumpy old man impressed. its a top notch flick and its highly recommended.

a little too weird for me
8 August 2019
Who is really who in this movie, thats the big mystery for me after watching this film , and thats quite bewildering considering the small cast that makes up this ghost movie called the witch in the window.

its not a scary ghost ride, more like an everyday story of your life and of your house, and the way you care for it and the way your house care for you. i myself living a house passing 100 yrs this year, have often wondered if the walls of my house contains spirits, and ive asked myself whenever i tear down and refurbish the sole of the house, have i then done harm to these spirits. i havent had any knocking sounds or other funny things happen to us, other than a deadfrozen mice scratchin the masonry wall in the basement, that made me start wonder if my hearing were disollusioning on me. well the mice had to take the walk to neverland, and ill live some more years in a comfy, still quite quiet from the spirts.

this film did not impress me at all, its all to simple, at the same time so complex to phatom, just as the phantom of the opera, which i also didnot like, its just a film thinks the grumpy old man.
