it has its moments
25 June 2019
For sure, and i acknowledge the try on a subgenre within the comedy genre, allthough its neat and cute its not good enough. i smiled and giggled here and there, but its a bit too artificial to me. big, as many reviewers have connected this film to, had a more natural goodhearted flow, that lacks in this flick.

the grumpy old man awards a 5, and im sure the gils or the ladies will praise this flick higher than i do, so have a watch yourself

disturbing
25 June 2019
Its like the college comedies of the 80's and 90's, soccer are for sukkers, football are for the footballers. theyve always had the power to dominate their environment, and as to this case the rape that were commited and thank god the victim werent killed, shows just a 1 in a 1000 tip of the ice berg in these fraternities. let it be told , and use the social media to reveal the culprits you know about, and use the self pronounced crime bloggers for what they are and can, because they got the heart and guts to act and protect the way the officials cant. howcome american football need so extremely vast number of players on the teams? it seems to me that a football game are just a bunch of time outs, with coaches beheaded with some kida astronout headsets, im sure the have some spy sats hanging over the pits to view the game for them, to make the football stars even brighter.i think american football is a big joke, and its just away for the american public to soscialize in a well protected and fairly safe zone for a few hours. the rest is like having a romantic interlude until all of a sudden a swimmer runs away trom the others and crosses the white line , and everybody relieve a screaming climax of joy for the swimmer who hit the golden egg line.

this is a good documentary, though a bit biased on the prosecution side, but thats all right. it has its own drive and that is the key to a good documentary the perputrators got punished , but its a digrace of justice the small sentences given. 10000000 $ of fine shouldve been paid to the victim.....

so if you have problems with american sports and their god like excecuters then the grumpy old man recommends a look at this docu.

if your not intrigued by this.....

There are some minor flaws in the plot line, im sure its done on purpose by the filmaker, just to provoke some grumpy old reviewer to write about it, but for all the rest of us , THIS IS A PERFECT PSYCHO ABDUCTION CRIME THRILLERE' !!! its italian and its brilliantly made in all its simplicity. i dont speak italian, but working as a nurse ,ive had to read and understand some latin, and thats close to italian,so i do have a tiny bit of control of whats said, and ive learned a bit more after this view.

this kind of films could never have been made in hollywood or bollywood or by any independent filmmakers over there, its just plain european brain massage, made from a novel by an italian author. its not dan brown, its even better than thats for sure

the acting and plot are slow, its like the devilishness are purged into you as the plot reveals the facts because its a complot against the common justice, against the media and believe it or not the money that are spent in this world in true life to make a headline in the news when there is an unsolved crime. the twists and turns makes this into an unbelievable, and still a believable thriller that i know ill have to show to my wife just to have another look.

productionwise it has a clever way to show the timeline,by hovering over a model of the valley where it all happens, and day and night are shown through the use of light and dark ''illumination'' , brilliant!! the editorial department has been cooperating well with the musical department, and the dirigente of it all, donato carisi have forced all the people on the production crew ,making this an unbelievable concerto numero uno....

the grumpy old man can just recommend

This film takes on some very serious issues in our sosciety, bullying, violence and focus on youth mental health issues. its a very direct and not always so good acted flick, but the principles are there, and i ended up with a large portion of empathy towards the aspergic girl.

just beware that this flick demands that you are either interested in the team, or youll need at least to be in the mood for some sad sad realities to enjoy this. the grumpy old man recommends

a small but excelent everydaycomedy
23 June 2019
This is british undercover survival humour at its best. its a small story about a physicaly quite a big man, that has a son whos a drug addict, that has a daddy well tucked into the alzheimer tal, who drives around in a tiny littlest of little nissan micra without electrical side windows, and lives in an appartement that he doesnt own ,lend to him by the landlord due to the abandonment of the tenant that is a drug courier. he has a really practical job making stickers and logos on t-shirts ,pens and cups etc, and do have a nice living, until the day we enter and he gets sacked from his job, and at the same time his father is thrown out of the care center, for flirting and mollesting the ladies staff.

so if this doesnt sound funny you must be ill or totally antibritish or brattish . if you then add a juicy and freestyled language and expresions, then youre sold. its the trivial kick in the buttock, chin up and use the rebreather if chocked sense of humour all the way through. then add some fresh british folk music to the plot then youre dead in it.

The Void (I) (2016)

its a mix of the thing and something else
23 June 2019
Its a void in the citys hospital, a living hell for sure until ridicule takes over. the effect and props and make up artist have had a busy job, covering it all in red. its a mix of paranoia, and the fear of pain and vain ,when leaving a void of empty space after birth is the hidden agenda.it full of blood and gore and groans and screams, so it leaves you worn out instead of scared.

it is a must see for the special effects, for the good story and suspence, try the thing, primarily the 1980's version then the 2011 version thinks the grumpy old man

good but ever so disturbing
22 June 2019
I am rounding the 500 buoy of reviews, and its admitted to hannibal lecter ,and hannibal rising did get the honour, by incident.it is the film before the films, the young hannibal and his developing psychii. and , well its the mind of a psychopath, we all know that, but its raw and disturbing said the least..

the technical production are superb, except for one thing , a nosediving crashing german stuka divebomber would have disintegrated when hitting the ground, have a look and youll probably see what i mean. the props locations, and settings are great, so are most of the acting, except the war part of the movie where the local nazis behave like neolittic cavemen drawn out of a d-film production next door. the delicacy of great acting , even if your going cannibalized from hunger and are on the way to kill and eat a little girl, that couldve been far better done.

so if you like these kind of stab, wrench, stab and wrench movies its a recommend even though the grumpy old man are still pretty dizturbed by the mayhem

Gather your family to shoot a movie is a popular thing to do in todays hd cam era. its no more than that and its not a recommend.

the grumpy old man recall from his childhood days when we had family getogethers some of the most entertaining business was to watch homerecorded 8 mm family holiday memories or while my cousines where bashing the pool in the garden, the small with blowup walls. that wasw good stuff ,but it became even better at the end when the reel where spooled backwards and doing the stuff the wrong way at high speed. thats good cinema.

it must be the period
22 June 2019
But as itll show its not the period. its the story about two young pairs going to a cabin in winterly virginia when strange things starts to happen after meeting a stranger in a kafe. There are also the cell signal problem as it has been in 10000 movies over the past 20 years, i remember the days when i knew every phone box or booth in my hometown haugesund, but that was before the time before time..... The acting are made from a cast of five, and it works pretty fine. its the usual wordflow over the kitcen bench making salad a social getogether and so on. the filming are pretty good, with some mirrorshoots that are pretty technical to manage. the blood and gore a spot on and very abrupt, and i felt the gutwrenching feeling more than once. the moral is dont be lazy, and do the work properly and well because you youth are just asking and never giving.

the grumpy old man fell dead for this one, i enjoyed the starting sequence with its anarythmic drums, and can with the scratch of the knife recommend this one.

redemtion day

There are lots of films made on the subject of terminal care. this one follows the same pattern as many others, but on extreme low budget, and its clearly a christian overtone to the plot, but that doesnt matter as long as the actors give their best.

its a rather primitive flick production wise, with editing that near cuts your throat and surtainly strangles the goodfeeling of the mainstream, the person acting ill, lack some illness practice, but the dialouges are good and entertains. the big quest is, are there life after death?

im working with old people and are having to deal with death from time to time, and the only thing i can say is that every death is like a fingerprint, its the one and only and there are no equal.i dont think death is harmful for the dying, its the people sitting back alone that has to carry that burdain, and this is a real challenge every time. at times its tough, at others its inspiring and it feels good to be a resource for the latter part. when you sit waiting for the last breath to be taken, you will for better or for worse slide into the same rythm of breating as the terminal ill does, so many a time ive had to rebreath myself and the people sitting around the bed to avoid further casualties.

im not a religious man, buit as an old grumpy man i can make a little recommend to a time for heaven.

SOCIALREALISM.
21 June 2019
Its a tough job to grow up, anyhow or anywhere in the world, in this scenario its a young black man, his little sister, and struggling mother, that works the skin of her hands to make everything work.

its a tough story from the black community of the united states, and really a teaser for everybody with a hang to sociology and psychology. its a film about living in a quagmire, and wherever you step its just a swamping quagmire, and if you try to flee you can be sure that you are on somebodys private property.

it feels like a direct one take strategy in this film, therefore the acts made are great and the dialouges are well delivered. its a film with not much, but could make you feel all kinda things afterwards. technical product are at average with a minus on the sound work, far too much background noise, even wher you could expect silence.

its a film for everybody, and most of all,its not a comedy. its playtime are too long considering the tema, but a good watch if youre interested in the issue. a recommend from the grumpy old man

Brightburn (2019)

the meanest superboy
21 June 2019
If you consider your children as the worst brats in the world, then have a look at brightburn and see what these parents has to struggle against, then you may even consider start loving your children again, and viewing their bullying acts more like a kind of talent that the kids use as a kind of opposition to the elders. in brightburn the ten commandments or any other alternative commandments made, is not considered at all, and to survive this ordeal i can recommend you to make a cocoon out of pro-7 or sickaslick or sickaflex that can withstand the evil beams and stretching when youre plumetted by the small ones.

its an evil supernatural child found in the woods that may return in a sequel. there are some nasty collateral damage done to his loved ones and others that made me gawp and think of a famous film critic who had the same kinda damage due to disease and surgery. its a lot of blood and guts ,so youll have it in gallons if you want it.

my impression of the viewing is that the environment are much to dark and when you start wondering, and having trouble seeing what happens. i'm not overly impressed by the acting, and the plot speed are a little slow and the story have some holes here and there.

but the sound effects and additional score are good, and the grumpy old man do recommend a view anyway.

very good sub scenario
20 June 2019
One shall never oppose ''das boot'' when comparing movies, but i dare to say that it kept me cramped to my seat, and my tinnitus screaming at all time high, to help the sonar operator to engage the oppoent, i even tapped the morse code i wouldve sent on the seat beside, to help warn the opponent to stand down....when you have such an experience, its worth the money

i will not describe any plot or story, other than its submarine stuff, with great props and great acting, and a near flawless plot, so the grumpy old man thinks this is a must see for everyone who can stand the strangulating feeling of being under attack below the water surface. highly recommended

what was this really about???
19 June 2019
Its not a good documentary at all, because its too biased on the people that has been left aside because of what theyve said and done in the social media world. there is not a hint of argument from them who has evicted them, and that makes this not a documentary, its more like a propaganda flick on behalf of the very small group of people with strong meanings and great powers in the social media community.

what shall we believe in
19 June 2019
First of all i dont think this was professionaly good enough production wise. its an extremely confusing presentaton of a national security problem(?), and the theme shifts and the person gallery flies back and forth and even inbetweeen, and when kgb, nsa, fbi, and cia enters the documentary story, its just a terrible blus of physics and psychics and scientists, that bend fork and can read between the enemies lines.

the grumpy old man loves the topic of parapsycholoical abilities, and i myself consider myself a person with '' warm hands'', at least my patients says so when doing the hair wash in the sink and doing the bed wound care. but its to blurry and unsteady images, and the story are so commited to confuse the viewer, and i still dont have a clue who to feel sorry for. i think it should have been awarded the top secret stamp till we all know a little bit more from the enemies side of the subject.

a great little comedy
19 June 2019
Its a never ending action comedy movie, about a little girl and her friend , wanting to make a horror film. her father does not like the idea. it will all be further complicated by her older sister coming home with a surprise. shes going to get married. to her lesbian girlfriend. dad doesnt approve to that either, so when the strange inlaws invades this house and family , the fun stuff appears much more and better than expected.

its an all family producton, and the young actors are really natural and good. it has also some glimpses of a blimpin family that tries to have at least a toe near the ground, but takes of to the sky dreaming of a marriage you will forever remember.

the grumpy old man found zilla and zoe so attractive and good, and made my afternoon so comfortable that i have to recommend it to everybody

fantastic
18 June 2019
Basiclly i tried to write a review some minutes ago but when i was trying to write1971 the ''1'' key hung up and in my eager fight to loose the darn button , my well written and bragging review of this film all of a sudden went away so ill try again.

its just a marvellous drama btween black and white, integration vs. segregation, in a heavily racial divided southern usa anno 1971.

its a film that will become an iconic classic, due to all the love, all the hate, all the anger, all the warmth, and all the words instead of brutal action. its a great schoolbook chapter about u.s. integration history, and ive come to know what a hurdy-gurdy man and a charrette is....

the actors really makes this movie monumental, and sam rockwell does one of his best acts ever. ive come to know him as a crude and brutal villain on the silver screen, and seeing him in this role as a klansman that moderates into a civil rights man, that was just remarkable. taraj p. henson as his opponent in this drama do not deliver a bad act either, its just what you expect from an angry black middle aged woman in durham n.c in 1971. i will also pull forward the dominant use of southern dialect in this movie, no wonder you might think but ive seen many a flaw on that issue. it gives the film its own brand , hanging on to its local language, just likewhen '' drivin miss daisy'' in the 80's.

the grumpy old man really fell for this flick, though a bit slow, its brilliant, and therefore highly recommended.

maybe a little too slow
18 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I do have respect for all those trying to make movies based on supernatural forces, including use of visual effects. this film has it all, not too much and not the kind that will blind you by the light, just pure magic that dissolves or appears in front of your eyes with a very well adjusted score, lifting these sequences sky high.

its a film about 3 women and their abiløities, grandma, ma and daughter, living somewhere beyond the frontiers in a dried out place somewhere in the united states. the ma is on the run from a group of people wanting to test her , so its a bit cat and mouse hunting.

the filmo are great with some lovely scenic views, its well edited, and the special effects are good. the story and plot are a bit slow, and underdeveloped, i felt like sitting and waiting in between the supernatural stuff for more, but it didnt, thats a drawback.

acting are nice, specially the main female actress with the difficult name were good, and that goes for the other 2 mainroles. i guess there will be a sequel to come in the future, because the message at the end says, there are more of you,go find them.

interresting
18 June 2019
If you think you know all there is to know about the spy history since 1945, you will find this film pretty interesting and revealing. i have not heard about the ''granny spy'' until now and its a good melodramatic, historic flick, made for the newest generations.

judi dench does a remarkable appearance in this drama that jumps back and forth in history, the present is spun around police interrogation, and dialouges with her gobsmacked lawyer son, and the past where we follow the main from studies at cambridge into advancing into assistant at the nuclear research institute.

its has some romantic interludes here and there, the way they are made weakens the production, because its not profound enough . the score is classic style british drama series style of music, and gives a nice float to the motion.

its worth a glance thinks the grumpy old man if youre into the war and cold war history, and the keywords are like in many other features to forgive , bow and forget. recommended

Wild and violent, but allthough a good vigilante/revenge movie for the squemish slasher blood and gore lover. i can admit that some of it is far over the limit of graphic violence, and im sure that the 1980's norwegian censorship wouldve slashed it into a 30 minutes documentary with ruthger hauer speaking words of wisdom to the babies at the birth clinic.as the main feature song in the film scarface goes''TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT'', well that describes very well where my limit goes....

its a must see if you like the slash of it,and the grumpy old man thinks for the rest of the feinsmaeckers feeling that the movie shall be a mirror of society, let it be.....

its a bit slow at times, and it is a little confusing at moents but allover a good biopic. the grumpy old man recommends city of lies.

its so profound and crazy
17 June 2019
This is just what i imagine when young british chums are having a bachelor party, with the father in law attending the same staggering soaree. this is the archetypes of british men, and the hooliganism in their blood staines and sheins the enemy at all levels., they are bearded, saggy eyed, beer bellies, one eyebrowed foreheads, going out in the woods doing a warparty against trained zombies. its fallout are pretty fatal, and the fatalities counter plings even faster than reaplacements could ever replace. its hilarious and fun, if your in for it.

its a verbal tug of war, and the bachelor gets his loins and groins well thedered by the zombies, hired s/m hookers and his fellow mates. the panick made by this cataclysmic environment, takes out the neolittic adrenaline driven killer out from the dark, and the unpremeditated murdering starts. there is a car full of dead zombies being pushed in the water, a grave dug for, and the zombie given a dignyfying military salute, and when all this mongrelian fights are done, the father in law must accept the bachelors claim for his daughter, with PERMISSION GRANTED!!!

you will either love it or hate it, the grumpy old man loved the actors and especially their demeanors, and well done panick acting. its brilliant neo-british comedy. recommended

An emotional and strong heartfelt drama, based on a true story. the acting are superb all over and i'm glad ive not read the book ,because that may have ruined the entertainment this well crafted film was.

the cast delivers at all levels, the music are strong and well chosen, and the misery of the humans depicted in this movie are so divine, that it may ruin the day atre and the day after that because of the dwelling this flick may cause.

the grumpy old man awards a 9, and highly recommends a view.

how to make a great movie on low budget
16 June 2019
There are no extravagfanca in thif touching the heart kind of movie, the theme is spun around a familys lumbering business, where the father dies all of a sudden, and the son of the house has to try to take over the business on behalf of his mother and siblings. he is doing it the hard way by going undercover and learn the trade among the lumberjacks in the snowy icecold environment of the lumbering season.

the film is very well crafted, its cast delivers an extremely brilliant performance, and i cant remember a movie where the maincat and extras have done such hard working labour as in this film, cutting trees with ax and twin saws, twigging the logs and transporting it all.its so darn real life like.

i must also turn the spotlight towards the musical score made for this feature film, it is of the classical type, but so well spunned into the story, and it makes the film get wings for itself, and makes place for you to join this ride of darn well made classic drama.

this may not be the first choice to many, but as my wife sai,'' this was entertainment on high levcel'', and ditto from the grumpy old man. this was a extremely nice surprise, so if you want to get reset back to the early years of the 1900's, then choose THE LUMBER BARON. its highly recommended
